You’ll also enjoy new functionality such as Full Game Trial where you can “try before you buy” – play a Blu-ray or PSN game for up to one hour and then you can buy the game, download it and keep your progress and trophies. Another cool feature is Automatic Downloads that will push select demos, game related videos, patches and firmware updates to your PS3 so you don’t have to think about it. OK So is this Cross Game chat official or not? I seen it was removed from there site. Id never buy PS+ without this feature being included.
When can I order nothing is up on the psn store….I’m trying to give you my $50 Sony. Come on and take my money for goodness sake.
1. if i subscribe to this, will i still receive the subscriber exclusive content from qore, or would i have to subscribe to both?
2. so i have the free stuff, if my subscription runs out, do i lose that free stuff and have to pay for them?
I like the idea, only problem I have with this is that it leads consumers to purchase the subscription to get even more exclusive content, when we’ve been getting them on PSN without having to pay for some MORE content.
Though I do appreciate the offer that they’ve been able to let people get early beta games when registered to PS Plus, but is that IF you get picked to play a beta, or is it guaranteed 100%? I feel like Sony is trying to gain more consumers to spend more money then they’re already paying for on the PSN.
This is all what it is… taking more money out of our pocket for digital content and early demos, when we have been getting more demos without going through paying for an extra subscription. If you ask me, Sony is kind of going the same route where the 360 is.
Like I said, this is just a statement on my part, I’m on neither side and I support the PS3 100%, but I also have to give in my inputs on what I think cause you know, freedom of speech and all. =)
Hmmm, I’m thinking that since PS3 has been out for awhile now..and the only money they’ve been making has been all content available on PS store. Case in point, they have all people downloading games, DLC, and movies etc. This to me sounds like a move that ohhh I don’t know XBOX has been doing for years. You pay for not only online access, but to download games and also “exclusives”. WHY SONY WHY? I love the idea, but to pay for a year subscription I’m not completely sold on the whole scheme of things.
This seems like a good idea BUT there is still ALOT of UN-ANSWERED QUESTION. i’m not going to go into details on them as most of you guys here have already done. PS needs to answer ALL OF OUR QUESTION before we are willing to pay $50 for PSN+.This the MAIN PROBLEM WE NEED ANSWER on PSN+ HOPEFULLY after E3 is all over WE might get the ANSWERS WE ALL NEED. I don’t know but maybe just a though why not try this as a beta to see how everything goes before WE spend $50.

There seems to be a lot of confusion and misconception over what’s what in this Playstation Plus service. The following comments were given by James Thorpe over on the EU Playstation Blog page.
Hopefully this answers most of the questions here:
HOW MUCH IS THIS?
49.99 a year or 17.99 for three months.
In Europe if you buy a year’s worth between June 29th and August 3rd, you get a free DL copy of the retail PS3 version of “Little Big Planet” (not GOTY edition).
In the USA if you buy a year’s worth between June 29th and August 3rd, you get 3 months free, therefore getting 15 months for 49.99

Features and Other things.
1. Crossgame chat.
not available in the Plus thing at this time, it hasn’t been decided when it will be applied and whether or not it’ll be free or Plus.
2. “If I unsubscribe do I lose access to all the stuff I bought?”
no. You only lose access to the free stuff. If you free trial a game and then buy it, it’s yours forever, whether you cancel the next month or the next year. Anything you PAID money for while a plus member, you get to keep forever. Anything that you got FREE (such as demos, free trials, free avatars, themes, etc) you lose access to. If you re-subscribe later, you get access to all that stuff again)
3. “How are trophies affected by the free trial?”
if you do a free trial game — using as an example “Infamous” — and you play it for the hour trial, earning various trophies along the way, those trophies will not be credited to your account, unless you buy the game. Once you buy the game, suddenly your account will trigger all the trophies you earned in that one hour.)
4. How does the Game Trial work? Does it work with Blu-ray games such as “Infamous and LBP?”
Yes. Using the inFAMOUS as an example, you will download the entire game (not sure on the size, but I’ve heard the games will be streamlined as much as possible (such as language files) without losing any features of the game). You play it like a PSN demo for an hour. There’s no limited features on the demo, you have access to the ENTIRE GAME like you would if you rented it. But only for an hour. Once that hour is up you have the choice of buying it or not. If you buy it, much like a PSN title you’ll get a license code or unlock key which will unlock the entire game, along with any trophies you earned. The Unlock key essentially gives you the license to the DIGITAL DOWNLOAD. You do not have to buy the blu-ray disc of the game.
Not sure how large the games will be, and how this will work with those that have small hard drives. Thorpe suggested people look into upgrading their HD, as it’s very easy to do.
5. Can I pay for this with PSN cards?
Yes. You can pay for this via anyway you’ve ever bought anything on the PSN store. You can also set up your credit card via PSN to auto-renew so you don’t forget to.
6. If I sign up in August do I get access to the July freebies and game trials?
No. You get access to everything from the moment you sign up forward. Every month there will be new game trials. So while inFAMOUS may be available in October (just an example) in November, it will not be available and another game will. So if you buy it in November, you missed out on the October and earlier games/freebies.
7. What sales are there?
Much like the current free PSN there will be sales, only there are sales every month on PLUS varying from 20% to 50% off of select games.
No word yet on whether the Game Trial games (including blu-ray retail games) will only cover 1st party games or also including 3rd party games.
That’s the stuff I’ve seen so far. Also if you are sharing your PS3 account with family members, they will also be able to access your PSN+ stuff as long as they are logged into your account.
PSP stuff you have to connect to the internet ONCE to confirm your account is a PSN Plus member, and then after that you’re good.

Yes, Zombie. I’m absolutely getting this. The Retail Digital Downloads sold me. I was hesitant when I heard about the “Zune” like rental plan, but when I realized if I paid for something that was mine regardless of whether I continued, that sealed it.
I spend so much on PSN games that I play for an hour or so and then lose interest. This allows me to play them and then just forget it.
I won’t get the trophies, but that’s not a big deal.
I WOULD like to see them put the Digital comics out on the PS3 though. But that’s not a must have.
There’s a few little things here and there that would be a convenience, such as Skype support, a better browser (please for the love of GOD!) and of course BC, for the games that I love that will never get ported over (Madden 05 and Soul Calibur III at the top of that list), but all in all this is a good starter package.
They’ll bring up more perks as it goes on, they’ll add things that people ask for, I’m sure. They haven’t done a good job of replying to the Blog share thing, though, I’ll admit.
And Thorpe over at the EU blog said there is no plan for the future as of this moment to raise the price of the plan. Someone asked if they’d get you hooked in and then raise to 60 or 75 dollars a year, and he said there are no plans to do that. Take that for whatever you like.
Cross game chat or In-game chat better not be included in the subscription.
I hope cross-chat is with PS+ only. That way I can read more comments about you guys crying, so-called threatening a corporation, and jumping ship to the other consoles when in reality 99% of you won’t do it.
When I first saw this at the Sony E3 presser my thoughts were yes I’m getting this. Now I think I’m going to hold off a while and see what happens with this service. While some of the features look interesting I’m still not convinced that this will turn out well. I mean for a good few years we’ve been asking for things like Cross Game Chat(which should be free), Cloud storage service, and other things that the community would like to see added the PS3/PSN. Look how long it took for Sony to give us the prepaid cards for the PS Store. So until I see something more out of this service I’m going to hold off as I said and hope that Sony finally listens to what people would like to see added to something YOU will be paying for.

What I really want to know is if there is a possibility for a lifetime subscription. I know it would probably be a few hundreds dollars and would shatter the illusion that it’s only so much every day/year, but I would rather pay a single large fee then reconsidering every year if I want to continue with the service. Hopefully you have long term plans for the PSN and PSN+ service.
I should have waited to renew my quore subscription I just renewed it last week so I hope I get a discount because I have to put anther $50 psn card on my account if I don’t get it half off also I got other stuff that I’m going to get like the $10 mag dlc

I hope cross game chat never happens. It will cause huge network load for one, and it’s hard enough as it is to get people using their mic for team work in games… imagine what will happen if there was cross chat.
I mean… some of the biggest complaints I hear about with Multi-player games is that people don’t exercise verbal team work.. don’t have a mic… or are goofing off on the mic. Add cross chat and see what happens :p
As far as 1 hour Demo’s go…. that is a joke to a degree. 1 hour is no where long enough to demo certain games. Pong… 1 hour is fine, perhaps too long :p But games like Fallout, Dragon Age and other in depth games require more time to get a feel for it IMO. Time should be on a game by game basis.
What I am asking you is not even remotely unreasonable. Basics of business. YOU posted the details representing playstation network asking us to be a premium subscriber and yet NO ONE will answer questions. This is DESTROYING the credibility of the service being offered.

I am curious about the free DLC packages. Are all of them going to be free for all games? We will lose them if we don’t keep paying the $50 a year?
People are idiots on headsets now, give them cross game chat and more 12 year olds will act so cool by swearing and talking like they live in the ghetto. Main reason I do not do much multi-player is because of the little kiddies who ruin everything. Well, that plus the cheating that people think is cool to do.

I have a feeling the free stuff is going to be lame. The discounts are going to be given on old games that I already have. The demos are going to be old games that I already have or played before. The betas will have mulitiple ways to take part without the need for plus.
So, I guess my biggest question is are we going to get free games, demos, and discounts on games from 2010 and before, or is this going to included NEW games from 2011? I want games, demos, and discounts off of brand NEW items, not content that is currently in the store…..that I most likely already own.
oh, and I could give two farts about Cross Game Chat.

This is a freaking stupid service still. Why is that we have to buy the subscription from PSN store? We are STUCK with the $49.99 price. It’s just as idiotic as to buying avatars. It’s great really. You don’t get anything out of it except being droids!
When XBOX LIVE you have the option to buy from microsoft or from the stores which have DEALS! like right now. $29.99 for 12 months! Just fire yourself now Grace Chen. You’re just a waste of space there.
i talked to someone in customer service and they told me that playstation + is only per master account only.it is not per system.so if u have multiple accounts u would have to play 49.99 multiplied by the amount of users in ur home.that part i do not mind so much.i do not care for it,but i respect their decision.
what i do not like is the part about automatic updates that u will get once u subscribe.without u even knowing u could lose a function that u may have liked with the previous firmware.why would i pay for u guys to take something away that i may like on my system.

I’m re-posting some questions from this blog that I’d like to see answers to;…… What happens if I buy content thats at a discount during my subscription of PSN plus then decide to not renew. Does that mean the content no longer belongs to me, even though I bought it?…..Will the games that are tied to the subscription be playable while offline as well as on multiple PS3s as regular PSN downloads are? (I own 3 ps3’s) …… Will the subscription extend to psp users allowing us free psp themes, games, ans dlc?…….. Is there any discount for current Qore subscribers?
One last question. Can you turn off automatic downloads? Automatic downloads is a feature that I have no interest in.
I like how Sony is going to Charge $50 a Year or More with Taxes in Canada, for Content that They Claim they will Offer. Yet with no Cross Chat?
Why not take that Time and Money and Fix the Content you claim to offer Now. A weak Start for PSN Plus if you ask me.
All these complaints crack me up. Sony is giving us more options. If you don’t like that particular option, then don;t buy it. Simple.
OK so I plan on signing up (yearly rate), but I’m already an annual qore subscriber, what do I need to do? Do I cancel my rebill on qore or will that be automatic? Also, will there be any prorating for qore subscribers? an upgrade option maybe? Just curious how thats going to play out. Thanks!
