Welcome back from the holidays, Zipper fans! As we mentioned before we went on break, today is the day that our 100% free and open MAG Beta program kicks off on the PlayStation Network!
Hopefully, you’ve taken advantage of the head start we provided a few weeks back and already downloaded all the files you need so you can just log in and start playing the game immediately. If you didn’t get a chance to grab the goods quite yet, however, or are just now learning about the program for the first time, that’s okay too – anyone can grab the MAG Beta and its files at any time between now and the end of the testing phase on January 10 at 11:59pm.
Here’s a three-step refresher course on what you’ll need to do to get the Beta:
-
1. Log on to the PlayStation Store, Select “View All By Title -> M Titles -> MAG” and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB)
2. Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 37 MB)
3. After the reboot, the Beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
Remember, the MAG Beta is taking place worldwide – all you need to participate no matter where you live is a PlayStation 3 and an internet connection. Once you’ve logged on, get ready to enjoy two different game modes: 64-player sabotage and 256-player domination!
We hope you enjoy the Beta up until January 10, and we’ll see you again later this week in Vegas for our big MAG Goes Gold Community Event.
@omni_vision
Correct, I have never beta tested a game, but
In ref. to omni and to the dev’s to “Help”. How about you get it to work so I can give an honest opinion and/or “help” on what needs to be fixed. Right now, for me, it seems that just playing the thing isn’t working. So fix that and then I’ll judge properly.
Also forgot to add. I’m still going to buy the game first day(already pre-ordered last year) because I know that after a while they’ll have time to fix it but, I don’t think it’s possible in 2 weeks. But if they do fix it in that time more power to them.
I just wanted to applaud Zipper for the work they’re putting into this game pre-release. I’m tired of online games coming out broken on release only to be patched later on sometimes months after the fact. I’m happy that these issues are being addressed in the present and am confident the final product is gonna rock the house! Cheers boys and girls!
whats up with the party system we can not connect to friends.
K, my last comment. To “help” I keep getting connection errors after character setup (10:4). But I give up. This game is going to flop. Def bummed me out. I’ll assume it’s like bf2 except no planes/helis. I saw some tanks and apv’s in some videos. I’ll just stick to bf2.
Sorry I wasted your time.
please please please fix the connection problems
I just finished a Sabotage match from beginning to end. Maybe it’s me?
Nice we’re back up just played 2 sabotage matches. (booted out of first one though…)
servers are crashing for me, when will you fix this, if you don’t fix by release its over for MAG and the expected 256 player game
So the main issue is with the lobby — if you get a 10:4 issue, then keep trying to log back in — you have a about a 1 in 4 chance to connect to the lobby when that happens, and once you\’re connected, the game runs fine.
So if you get 10:4 you can keep trying, or wait a little longer while we increase that lobby response rate.
