NIS Re-Releasing PSP Titles, Plus Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! UMD Poll

135 17

Hello everyone!

Are you all excited about tomorrow? We will be re-releasing some of our past PSP titles to celebrate the launch of the PSPgo! And what’s really awesome about this is that our past PSP titles will be 50% off for the whole week! The discount will only be valid for one week starting tomorrow, so don’t miss this chance to get our past titles on your PSP!

Here is the list of discounted titles. The price range is between $4.99 and $9.99! (Correction: $4.99 – $14.99)

Speaking of “Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This?”, we are still thinking about making a UMD for the game. However, we would like to know if there will be enough demand for us to create the UMD version. So I would like to use this opportunity to ask you all if you would like to see a UMD release of Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! We appreciate your participation! We are hosting this poll on the NIS America official website as well.

[poll id=”18″]

NIS America announced two new titles during the NISA luncheon meeting at TGS. We will release Atelier Rorona on PlayStation 3 and Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! 2 on PSP in 2010! When we have more information for each title I will visit here again and share them with you all!

Lastly, NIS America released the promotional movie for Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love last week. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, here it is! This is a promotional trailer, and doesn’t have much game play footage in it, but we are currently working on getting a game play trailer up for you!

Thank you for reading my post! Have a great day.

Best regards,
Nao

  • None of those games appeal to me.. Are there going to be other games 50% off ???

  • I’m glad to see NIS having a sale for the PSPGo! tomorrow, definitely planning on picking up Disgaea, Dragoneers, Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman, and Prinny for my PSPGo! tomorrow.

    Thanks NIS for the support.

  • I have to say Holy Badman is an awesome game! but if ur going to make it only 20mb again i’d say just make it a download release :P but i hope u do make some improvements to the game (such as the ending especially the hard one) Can’t wait for ur next game :D

  • Great prices- I’ll be picking up Prinny for sure. :)

  • The only reason I would vote ‘no’ in the poll is because of the game in question because I do prefer the physical medium over download.

  • I’d say spending money to put a game like HIOPBM!WDIDTDT? in a tangible format is a bit of a waste. It really is best suited for download. For those who don’t have an internet connection: get one. :P

  • I really want “Prinny”, so, my question is : is this offer going to be available to us in europe? I really hope so. I’m fed up with the segregation thing between the US and the EU store.

  • Holy Invasion…is only 40MB big. I would rather focus on keeping memory hogs on UMD. possibly something like Patapon2 UMD. That little sucker is 361MB. I have a 16GB stick and it would be nice to have some room for vids, music, etc. instead of games hogging it all.

  • Let UMD die already, and the fact the game didn’t sell that well, why bother.

The sale is too good to pass up, I’m going to buy half of those games tomorrow.

  • THANK YOU! This sale is awesome. I didn’t have the time or cash to get all these games before, and some are older so I missed them due to not having a PSP until a year ago. However, now I will pick up the games that I missed out on before.

Also, thanks for bringing over Atelier Rorona to the US. Looking forward to that game.

  • i got a PSN Card just for this ^^;
im going to enjoy all the NIS goodness for sometime now, a question though, are you going to update us on any news about Last Rebellion? or is that a japan only game?

  • Don’t know if I’d buy Badman at all, but chances would greatly increase if it were on UMD. I prefer to physically own the things that I pay for, but looks like I’m in the minority so far.

  • Wow..I’m getting Prinny. That game was $39.99

  • I really hope Sony marketing team is READING and LEARNING the COMMENTS.

  • Sweet Mana Khemia Student Alliance! ill be getting that.

So when is Mana Khemia 2 portable+ coming out for US? im waitting for that too im already done with the PS2 version 100% :)

  • This is great news! I’ll be picking up a couple of these.

  • uhh what about Trinity Universe Coming to the US any word on that yet!?

  • Please release a UMD version of Badman!!!!

I loved the demo, but didn’t purchase the game because it was download-only! I was considering importing the Japanese UMD just so I could actually own the game, but then all of the little jokes would fly over my head!

I guess I consider myself a hardcore gamer… but I just love having a real, substantial collection of games. I know an entire network of similar-thinking collectors who have had to resort to imports just to have a nice collection. Did you know that the only way to get a physical version of Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty in English is to import the Irish blu-ray?
I have imported the European Patapon 2 for this very reason.

I love UMD’s, I think they are so cool (and cute!). When I heard that Badman was going PSN-only, my heart broke. Please make a UMD version! Even if the majority of those polled don’t want one, you still have a sizable chunk of people wanting it!

Even if it costs $10 more than the PSN release, I WILL purchase a UMD version of Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This?

  • Awesome, I was considering getting a few of these, now I absolutely have to!

  • Nao, for the love of god please tell me that Disgaea 2 is going to be downloadable!?!! I am itching to play it, but I’m not buying it on UMD. Otherwise I won’t be able to play it on the Go…

    Please guys… Don’t make me pirate it…

  • if we buy the umd for Persona, can we download the game for free or at a discounted price?

  • I want more PSP games available for download, not the other way around.

  • It’s always the clueless bozos who hate digital distribution.

They think if you delete the game, you have to pay again to redownload. (You don’t.)

They think you can’t back up games on other media. (You can.)

They think the PSN with the PSP requires “syncing” with the server every time you start – like the Kindle – and that the DRM can even go as far as remotely deleting or deactivating certain titles off your memory stick. (It doesn’t.)

Needless to say, I voted NO on this poll… it would just be a waste of time and money for everyone.

As for the sale, I was only planning on getting two $20 PSN cards tomorrow, but I might just have to get three!

  • Yes! Thank you so much. I’m really glad Mana Khemia: School Alliance is going to be apart of this deal. I’ll be sure to purchase this as soon as I grab a $20 PSN Card on Friday. Soon, I’ll have Mana Khemia 1 to go with my nice Mana Khemia 2 I got in August ^,^

Also great to hear about Atelier Rorona coming over. I’m always looking to add more RPGs to my PS3 library. I look forward to future posts on this one.

Really great Sakura Wars trailer. I’m really looking forward to this game. Hope you make another post just about Sakura Wars when its release date is approaching!

  • Afternoon of Darkness and Prinny are on my shopping list.

I’ve looked up the metacritic scores on the others and they were all ho-hum so I’ll be passing.

It’s a shame the Go is so expensive. Instead of trading in my PSP for the pittance EB offers, I think I’ll probably just invest in a 16GB memory unit. It’s a shame too cause I would’ve loved the enhanced mobility. The Go would’ve been with me at all times with the smaller footprint.

  • “It’s always the clueless bozos who hate digital distribution.”

Or people who like having a physical copy. It doesn’t even mean they’re against DD as a concept, just that they don’t want physical copies to go away. Like me for instance.

Another question that just occurred to me, will Disgaea have the bugs fixed like the counter bug (if two people counter each other too many times the PSP locks up)?

  • Damn you NIS America… I love your games, but I hate licenses. However, I never can turn my back on a great deal on some great games. [I love Prinny and I love Disgaea on my PSP]

Did you guys fix the loading issues on the PSN release of Mana Khemia: Student Alliance? If so, I’m all over it. :)

…Any plans for a big sale on rosenqueen.com for us weirdos that like owning stuff? [Not that that’s going to stop me from getting some great games for dirt cheap]

  • Good thing this offer is good for the whole week.

PSN will crash tomorrow, the update wont go up on time/at all or both.

Sony will call it a good thing “We’re experiencing unexpected demand” when in reality it will be a massive revenue costing failure.

  • You guys linked to Wikipedia’s Atelier Rorona article. :D

I have already been playing the Japanese release for quite some time, but looking forward to the American release!

  • Aww, I’m a little disappointed that there is no Spectral Souls for dwl (figured a digital release would fix the load issues that were present with the UMD).

Anyways great deal for the releases and I’ll will definitely get Prinny: Can I really be the Hero? and Mana Khemia: Student Alliance.

  • I think I’ll get them all since i’ve held off for such a sale!!

  • Just wanted to say that I cannot wait for Atelier Rorona next year :) The wait is killing meeee…

  • Regarding sakura wars, OMG the localisation voice and script really scares me… i mean seriously, it sounds like a dramatic over-americanisation! but if i was judging by the look of it alone with no sound it looks like i’d love it… I’m encouraged by the fact they point out that there’s both an english and japanese audio, so i’m going to be optimistic and think those massive ‘simplifications’ (mainly in describing it) are just to try and sell it to more people… fair enough really… we’ll see what type of game it is when it comes out

  • Hey Nao,

I am definitely looking forward to these downloadable titles. I plan on getting each and every one so I can stop sending my UMDs to my older brother when he wants to play the games.

In regards to the UMD of Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman, I am all for it. There are thousands, if not millions of gamers who don’t have access to internet on a normal basis to download games at will.

    • Hey ya!
Thank you for your comment. Got your email!
You are so nice! Your brother needs to get a PSN card, so he can download all these games!

      Thanks,
      nao

  • I have one question

Will the DD version of Mana Khemia: Student Alliance have the jump start function?

Please the answer to this will make me or not make me buy this game

  • Please answer this question

Will the DD version of Mana Khemia: Student Alliance have jump start?

I need to know the answer please.

    • Hello Souledge94,

The download version of Mana Khemia: Student Alliance is same as the UMD version. So it will have the jump start feature. :)

      Thanks,
      nao

  • Please, Please, Please, make a UMD for Badman. I have every other one of those on disc, as well as, every other NIS game (released in the US) since Hour of Darkness.

Make a UMD and I promise I will by two copies, thereby negating one other person’s “Nay” vote.

  • Congrats NIS for answering that question you got a sale. THank you

  • The people who are saying they don’t want UMDs are fools, as are the people who voted Nay.

Don’t discriminate against the people who want discs!

I will *never* buy Digital Downloads, so if you want my money NIS, put Holy Invasion Badman on a UMD!

    Please.

  • @73

And it’s always the ones who support digital distribution who throw insults around because they are insecure about the fact that discs are better than DD.

You have no facts to back up your position, so you do the only thing you can do. Try and shout people down who are *RIGHT*.

THANK YOU for considering a UMD release for Badman! I am also one of the folks who didn’t purchase the game due to it’s download-only distribution format.

As a game player AND collector, I prefer to own my games in a physical media format only – be it a disc, cart, memory card, whatever. I also enjoy having such things as cases and a physical manual, even if it requires a slightly higher (yet reasonable) retail pricing. With physical media, I will still be able to play my games many years in the future; with DL-only games, if I delete it and wish to redownload it, it is unlikely that it will still exist on the server several years down the line, much less 10-20 years later.

My thoughs are very much in line with Derian (post #68); I’m a hardcore gamer and have a massive collection of games covering many systems. I will absolutely purchase a game via import if a physical copy is not made available domestically: I too obtained “Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty” (BD) and “Patapon 2” (UMD) from the UK to obtain them in their respectively physical media formats.

Again, many thanks for considering this UMD release… it is VERY much appreciated!

    Best regards!

  • What about releasing Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! on PSN for PS3 eventually?

  • Prinny always looked like a sweet game when I saw it sitting on the store shelf. It was a title I would pick up and look at every time I went into EB Games, but never bought it. For $10, I think I will have myself a new game. So stoked that I will finally play Prinny.

    Thanks!

  • It seems you guys REALLY want my money. Who the hell am I to say no after you make such a passionate argument in the “for” category?

    Consider my money yours. =)

    Hurrayz for NIS!

  • All I want to say is that I wish I had enough money to buy the PSP, although, I’m not sold on the PSP Go. I prefer the original model more and would only buy one similar to it if I did buy one.

  • By the way, I’d like to say that, while I did vote ‘nay,’ with such a close vote, it might be beneficial to release it on UMD, but lowball the number of units you produce.

  • triple_lei

Whenever a post or comment appears in the blog advocating UMDs, you arrive on the scene to attack pro-UMD supporters with a barrage of colorful insults (“clueless bozos”) and misinformation/misdirection via “facts” we purportedly believe.

Does the potential existence of physical media cause you THAT much anxiety… are UMDs THAT much of a threat to your gaming?

Because I certainly don’t share that same animosity towards digital distribution. I feel both are viable formats which appeal to different gaming types: gamers vs hardcore/collectors. It’s all about CHOICE – what’s right for one person is not necessarily right for another. But while I myself prefer physical media, I would never call for the utter elimination of digital distribution.

I fully understand the pros & cons of digital distribution, and it’s not for me. If a game isn’t available on physical media domestically, I’ll instead purchase an import. If it’s completely unavailable on physcial media, I’ll never buy the game… it’s that simple.

I most certainly am NOT a “clueless bozo” nor do I “hate digital distribution”… I simply have personal preferences different from your own.

  • Yo nis whats the deal. Im looking at my psn and it says mana is 14.99,but your deal cleary states 4.99-9.99. Can you please explain this.

  • @97 – You are exactly right.

The problem with Triple Lei is he thinks everyone should conform to his opinion, whether he has facts to prove his position or not.
