Enhanced PlayStation Network Trophies Online

410 0

Hi Everyone,

You asked for it and later this week we’re delivering on it. We are making significant enhancements to the way you view your trophies online. Check out the walk-thru video so you can see these updates first hand.

Here’s what you’ll be able to do:

  • View detailed info on your trophies on PlayStation.com
  • Compare your trophies with multiple friends and other PSN ID’s
  • Compare details on trophies within each game
  • Track your progress to the next level against friends
  • See what trophies you have and what you still need to unlock for each game
  • Use the sorting features to plan your game domination

In addition, the portable ID has been enhanced with trophy data so you’ll also be able to take your portable ID with you to official game sites, social networks and other third party sites making it easier to show off your trophies and gamer status with friends online. Your PlayStation Network Portable ID will link directly to your public trophy page on us.PlayStation.com.

  • cant wiat

  • I’m gonna have to agree, atm ps3trophycard.com is still better. IMO the Portable ID looks kind of boring. Can you switch up the design to be similar to EU’s Portable ID or more variety?

And I agree, leader boards would be awesome-o.

  • This is awesome guys! However I’m surprised you just didn’t move the portable ID’s over to playfire like our UK brethren!

So all we need now on the site is to be able to send messages to friends on line

Then as far as PSN goes, cross game chat, invites and party system and we are in like Flynn!

  • Here are some features I’d love to see for PS3:
Playstation Live Text Chat Room feature under Playstation Network in the XMB (Give people more reasons to buy the Official keypad)
    A) Be able to enter Text Chat rooms for the different Playstation Platform to discuss our console memories, favorite games, or upcoming games.
    B) Have a Background Theme for each Text Chat room of games and characters of the chat room selected. (EX: PS One Chatroom would have: Cloud, Solid Snake, Crash, Spyro etc. PS2 Chatroom would have: Kratos, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Socom logo etc..)
    C) Add support for Wacom USB Drawing Tablets and allow users to draw and paint in specific Art Chat rooms. The users paint in their own private canvas then submit them to the entire room via a different tab window.

More Robust features in the PSN Profile ID:
    A) Be able to record a short video using the Playstation Eye with Eye Create and insert it into your profile giving people the option to play it when they view your profile.
    B) Increased character limit for motto and about me profile section.
    C) A) Allow people to record short simple video messages and send directly from XMB.

  • Y not put all these efforts trophies on FW updates.

  • Awesome, keep it up!

  • hmmm i wonder if a new firmware will be coming… :)

  • Where is the API?

I run a fan site and would love to be able to enable this on there. It works through WordPress just like this blog so I don’t see any reason for it not to work.

Web developers would love access to an API for this.

  • Nice!

  • Any chance of there being more sizes made available? Some forums, such as the GameTrailers forums, have very strict signature size rules and won’t make any exceptions. This was a problem with the EU trophy cards and will be an even larger problem with these new US trophy cards.

  • How about implementing this in a future firmware update.

  • Yay! Thanks for the update and making PSN more successful.

  • i really want to be able to share my music on home and throw parties and stuff…i think being able to show your video content through the virtual tv’s would be nice as well

  • lol, someone has Hannah Montana. That’s stupid. Nice feature though

  • Awesome work guys!

  • More avatars please and also a better trophy gamer card.

  • The portable ID is still terrible.

You say “it was a much requested change” and yet it still is…you made it maringally better. But it should show the most played or most current games played.

You Sony people have been dropping the ball day after day. I ONLY own a Ps3, so this is extremely disheartening. Neither Sony, nor MS, nor Nintendo have been able to anything better than C-grade this gen with their networking and feature support.

  • It’s great to see some progress being done on the PSN via Internet browser. However, there is still a SERIOUS problem with the friends list compared to the EU playstation.com: We still aren’t able to re-arrange our friends list based on online/offline status, quick friends, alphabetical order. Also, the EU playstation.com friends list shows all friends on a single page.

I check up on my PSN friends all the time and it’s very annoying having to go between the EU friends list and the US forums.

Please address the US playstation.com friends list.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks a lot. It would also be great if we could use the website to view and message friends connected to PSN.

  • Finally catching up to the EU site.

  • What about changing the boring, bland, mono-color black background to something nice.

  • Will the PSN logon form EVER be having the “Stay logged in” checkbox? Or is clumsiness a design goal here?

Other than that, if the trophy card doesn’t update automatically, I won’t be replacing my Playfire gamercard. I’m not going to go and manually update my Portable ID. It’s too tedious, what with having to log in every time and all.

  • how come i cant see my page that way ????

  • It’d be nice if the video wasn’t constantly refreshing during playback, making any playback stop entirely.

  • Awesome update. Can’t wait.

  • Awesome. Now is there a way to incorporate a bit more privacy so that we can control who sees our stuff? <.<

  • You guys are updating the online Playstation.com features to match the PSN capabilities, is there any chance we will get to see PSN updated to match Playstation.com capabilities? I would like to see a “My games” section on the PSN to check out what games my friends own as well as let them see mine.

  • Awesome. It’s almost everything I ever wanted to do in a browser. BTW, will we be able to compare trophies with multiple friends through the PS3’s XMB?

  • Nice BUT why are you not implementing these features on the PS3? Mostly I compare the trophies of my friends and me when I am signed in on my ps3. I will not switch on my PC for this comparison.

I would like to see the rankings etc. on my PS3!

You could also implement custom Tournaments that you can generate for you and your friends, for example who get’s the first Platin Trophy in Dead Space, and all the friends that joined the competition see in the End a message etc. who got it first.

There are so many possibilities for the Trophy System in PSN.

  • and I forgot: LEADERBOARDS! Last time I wondered who got the highest Score on PSN, I found one guy in a forum on Level 18 with 56 Platin. But is he the best? I don’t know because there is no worldwide Leaderboard. Leaderboards for regions and countries were also fantastic.

  • Jeff! Eric hacked your account! Someone needs to change his password. ;-)

  • So PlayStation EU was first with trophy comparison functionality but PlayStation US gets the extra option to compare with multiple friends simultaneously as well as with any PSN ID not on your friends list.

Yet, on the PlayStation EU site you can access trophy leaderboards, which are not availablke on the US one apparently.

Sony, can you please get your [DELETED] together and release ONE WORLDWIDE PLAYSTATION SITE so that we don’t have to jump between US and EU to get all the benefits?

    Thank you.

  • Will this start getting us DLC or games like MVC2 on the same time as the other consoles? No? Then I don’t care.

  • Nice, but it would be damnly awesome if we could fully customize the portable ID and an API to let people add his/her stats on his/her web site.

  • Excellent! Great work. Thanks!

Now how about sending and reading PSN messages through the browser?

Also: For the PSN profilecards on the PS3, I’d like some more options/details (things like a short biography, favorite games/genre, clan name etc).

  • O, and how about a GLOBAL leaderboard on PS3, so you can check your Trophy worldrank?
Some filters would be nice, so you can check your rank by country and also gamestat-specific (so you can easily find and add other good players which speak your language, to maybe form a clan or to just play and talk online with, once in a while)…

This way, the PSN will be much more of a real community. Because, for now, you still feel very limited and ‘lonely’ on the PSN (this also has to do with the lack of a universal party/invite-system – which could be solved by making the Home Gamelaunching mandatory for future games and adding the Gamelaunch feature to the XMB as a ‘widget’, so you can ALWAYS access it and even join your friends mid-game etc).

  • First things first of course ;-)

For the next firmware-update expect the textchat-feature to be ‘enhanced’ as well. By adding the option to use party voicechat cross-game as well.

You could build the entire text/voice-chatrooms into a ‘party’-utility, which handles both textchat and voicechat, as well as all your game-invites etc.

    Man, if only…

  • Well, that’s not bad at all but i like most the EU site and portable id’s.

Even better when you custom a portable id to look even nicer like me (hehe):

  • when will this be available??

  • Yay, can’t wait.

  • looks classy, and i like comparing my stats against my mates so thanks alot all we need now is another tab for ingame stats :) eg kilvsdeath ratio on games / win rate etc. etc. but still looks awesome thanks alot :D

  • On the PSN front there are still some more things that i would like to see however:
    – Maybe use of home’s avatar / increased avatar selection
    – Not being disconnected randomly from within games
    – more items available on english psn because the american psstore often tends to get things before us/ we don’t get them at all.
    – more comparison such as this on the ps3 – so maybe a different layout for friends list?
    – different images when you rank up your trophy levels instead of the same yellow blob thing so people know how good you are?
    – more on profile when you click on it maybe a blog that you can click ‘more here’ to read on if you wish.. just a couple of things? thanks :)

  • Meh. Really don’t care about trophies all that much, so this adds nothing for me. I was hoping that you finally added basic abilities such as sending PSN messages to friends from computer, cross game talk, more useful information aside from trophy data in a PSN ID, etc etc. Sorry, but you’re still light years away from the competition, but you get what you pay for I suppose…..

  • …oh yeah….why isn’t our Home avatar being used anywhere aside from Home? The other guys are both using their avatars in other applications including actual games. Pity Sony hasn’t been doing the same thing…

  • very nice guys. keep it up.

  • Looks very good. But we all know there are more pressing issues than how we look at our trophies!!!

  • @ Eric, Or Jeff:

Sorry to bug you so much but is there any word on if there will be an update that makes it so you can delete trophy games in ‘my trophies’ that you have 0 % in.

Also delete games that you have some trophies in that way if your a completionist and you can’t get all the trophies.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Please consider a Facebook app that shows your portable ID. It’d be nice to have an official app from Sony, so that all my friends would use it. Currently, very hard to find out if any old college buddies have PS3s without asking them. If you saw they had the Portable PSN ID app in facebook, a universal official one, you’d know you can find them online.
