One thing I notice is that the speed is much faster when browsing trophies, user profiles, comapring trophies etc.
Hell they could of least gave US 1!!!!!!!!!!! NEW FEATURE!!

Check which number the controller is assigned to. Seems one of the untold features of this update is that USB dongles start from 7 and work their way down

kudos to eric lempel & company.i just downloaded the update and everything seems more stable.the best thing about it though,is the ability to post right here from my ps3!

Whats the situation with GT5?
Its like vaporware, being delayed over and over. Its real but so is other next-gen sim racers that have a release date. I’m sure the game will be good, I’m still playing KZ2 and MGS4. Its been three years and congrats to your progress on the PS3, but vague update info and delayed releases don’t help much.

When the messenger is failing miserably at his (relatively simple) job of providing even a shred of useful information in his message, then it is perfectly reasonable to suggest that said messenger should seek other employment.
As a pointed example, look at this post from Mr. Lempel vs. the post from Jeff Rubenstien today regarding the blog server downtime. Jeff actually provided details on what the problem was and how they fixed it. He also replied 4 times (so far) to a post with only 60 comments.
Jeff = very good messenger who should be commended for his professionalism and commitment to doing his job well.
Eric = dysfunctional messenger who consistently provides zero information and zero replies and should consider employment at DMV.

after installing the 2.80 update I went to use the Life With Playstation application and when I went to quit the application my system beeped twice and restarted is there any way I can fix this?

Ok the load times on Home are a little long, as is the trophy sync and xmb loadtimes, So once that is sorted out, i’ll be a very happy chappy :)
Just wish it didnt take so long to download the updates, for a file thats no bigger than 140mb, takes almost an hour. Yet i can download a trailer from the psn that size in 10 minutes or so.
Yeah, this is quite a vague update. Why even bother mentioning anything about what’s in the update. “It fixes something with video” doesn’t tell us much.
Why are people asking “does it do” this and that? It says right there in the post what the update does.

No one forces you to do these updates. I personally have never had or heard of anyone I know have any issues with FW updates. If this is a known issue that has affected you personally then you know the risks so either you choose to update or you don’t. So maybe you should STFU.

Its not whether it will brick or not its the fact that its a major progression update aka .70 , .80, .90, and so on. It doesn’t do anything extra or provide us with any of the needed features so what the hell are they doing for the past 2 months.

This is totally unexpected… but in a way, absolutely welcome.
For my part, i have been getting system total freezing with controller not responding at all, while playing killzone2 online, ever since the last update, so i reeeally hope that this new firmware fixes that problem.
otherwise, nothing to complain about. The PS3 is as rock-solid as ever. All these regular game freezing seriously pisses me off, though! So, hopefully it’s all part of past, now? Eh, Sony?

Don’t call it 2.80 if it’s features are same as 2.76.
It would be nice if the ps3 could upscale all ps3 games to 1080p. There are some games that go to 480p when you uncheck the option for 720p in display settings in order to force a game to display in 1080p. It’s interesting that ps2 and ps1 games can be upscaled to 1080p, even with smoothing, while not all ps3 games can’t.
Also custom soundtrax for all ps3 games, cross game invites, and a party system.

Geez, I don’t know why it takes forever to download and install the damn thing.
Can we get a personal equlizer on PSP and PS3? And we need a warning system when we are downloading stuff. That if we go in a play a Game (are download will stop). It should Warn us and ask us if we want to continue. Yes or NO. Sort of like how well your XMB (music)ingame works. But any way this is the same Blog post from the last update? :)
