Here we are: The Main Event. Starting at 11am (Pacific, 7pm BST), we’ll be live blogging the PlayStation E3 Press Conference right here in this space. The questions, the predictions, the rumors – all will be answered soon!

To make things quicker (and to prevent you from having to refresh the page), we’ll be using CoverItLive, just like our live chats with developers. However, unlike those chats, we’re turning off the comments pane to keep things focused on the course of events. • Very nice presentation Sony.

Thank-you and keep up the great work !

2009 looks great, but so does 2010.

  • Great Job Sony!

  • Wow, wow, wow. I’m pretty sure Sony just killed everyone elses presentations. Everything was absolutely jaw dropping. What a great year it’s going to be.

  • So you bought it again incase you ever damaged it, and you’re talking about smelling cd’s?

Personally, the additional cost isn’t worth the smell of a disc, and the fact that I don’t have to pay twice the price for damage prpotection is a huge argument in favor of digital distribution.

  • That was the most underwhelming event I have ever witnessed in my life. SCEA you totally have lost me as a gamer and consumer. I’m sorry but why why waste the money on prototyping that “Wand”? you should have spent it on actual games for Playstation 3. and the PSP Go? yeah. What’s up with that.

I’m officially going to go playing on the xbox 360 where gaming matters first and foremost.

P.S. Chris Morrell. Call me <3

  • No date for GT5!

  • I don’t think they wanted to give MGS Rising any more press since yesterday that would take away from the exclusivity of MS Peace Walker. It’s going to be multiplat for sure though.

  • I can only say one thing…AWESOME!

  • man KRATOS IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sony you got all the best games coming out now, wonderful.

Now WORK ON YOUR SOFTWARE. PS3’s firmware is garbage compared to what 360 is doing.

  • Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge conference.

  • THIS WAS CRAP!!! all u focused on was GAMES which u already had!!! where is network features… we told u guys millions of times.. that we want network features…!! wth!!! we no u have games… so why not fix the network which needs to be fixed!!!

  • No firmware annoucement?

    lame

  • Sooooo… no party chat or XMB enhancements?

  • Absolutely effing win, Sony. Absolutely. Effing. WIN.

  • OMG sony rules bby

  • omg no joke, you guys won E3 hands down. The others cant even compete with this. AMAZING, and this isnt even fanboy talk, I am very unbias.

I think Microsoft won 2nd place, then Nintendo. Or possibly a tie between the 2. I thought Nintendos was a huge dissapointment, they completely ditched the hardcore.. completely!

    I love you sony

  • Fantastic coverage! Can’t wait to see the videos.

  • Glad to see some other news on the PSP go…ie price and release date!

  • Nice job Jeff (and everyone else involved)!
I really enjoyed following along with the live blog.

  • @254…….didn’t the 360 put out motion control just like the Wii and Sony ?

I guess to each their own…but I’m still a Sony fan for sure.

  • It was a good e3 for you guys, no question, though i’m still pretty disappointed you didn’t mention ps2 backwards compatibility, but you also did say “we have no intention of dropping the ps2 after the consoles lifespan is up in 2010”, so i donno.

  • I laugh at people posting here complaining about the games (which was and is what people complain about the PS3 not having) and wanting firmware news instead. Sony can never please everyone can they.

  • nice mention about the build your own race track game sounds nice

  • but kingdom hearts…3….

  • Guess no price drop announcement, but the FF7 announcement made me a happy panda. Guess i’m spending (at most) $20 today. skeet skeet.

  • absolutely amazing E3 showing from Sony… such a good time to have a PS3, as well as a PSP… now the consumers, the gamers, have to show Sony some love…

  • Well done guys, Well done!
    What an amazing E3.

God of War 3 looked AMAZING!!

Now just give us a firmware update this week with Cross-game chat(and new avatars) and we’ll be yours forever :)

  • sony just destroyed the other two consoles with that presentation!
however, its weird that they havent announce a firmware update with all the feautures that alot off ppl wants…

anyways, all in all this was a killer presentation… would love to have heard about more rpgs rather than FF13/14 BUT OH WELL…i guess time was a factor in that ;)

  • Sony great Confernce is great you show why you great have a great system FFXVI better not have monthly fee or i will not buy but FFXIII for the ps3 look well better then the 360 verison. i just like to great job everyone

  • FF 14 baby!!!! exclusive along with versus and last guardian..

would have been happier if there was a gt5 release date, but modnation racer is interesting..

too much focus on the psp, which is bad..

and no announcement for a ps3 firmware, which is worse

overall, better than m$ and ninnytendo

  • This honestly stomps all over MS’ conference.

  • Nice show, Sony. Easily the best conference, but can we please get some solid confirmation the Metal Gear Solid: Rising is coming to PS3? This is very frustrating.

  • ok FFXIV makes ups for no FFVII Remake. I won’t be suiciding… just yet.

  • Sony E3 was fantastic great games and i love the motion thing i would rather have that than microsofts cam rubbish.

  • Motion controller tech demo? Check.
    Exclusive third party games? Check.
A myriad of exclusive first party exclusives? Check.
    New hardware announcement? Check.

Neither Microsoft nor Nintendo can claim they had all 4 of the above. In terms of sheer volume, Sony takes the cake this year. Considering there weren’t many megaton announcements at Nintendo’s, and MS really only had Natal (which looks bloody brilliant btw), this year goes to Sony in my books, but things might change in the next few days.

Objectively i think its a tie between Sony and MS for best presser. Nintendo…well…LOL.

  • Awesome Conference

Can’t wait for Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Last Guardian, Agent, and MAG

  • When’s the update for FF7 in the store?

  • TheInfectedBy590

I was not disappointed!!! :) The Last Guardian was all that mattered!

  • Incredible. Bravo. I just wish I’d watched it here instead of over of Gamespot. What a shoddy webcast… oh well, there’s always the Home-cast later today, right?

The motion controller looks amazing and blew MS’ crap camera system out of the water. GOW3 looks amazing! Resident Evil is coming to PSP! Disney meets LittleBigPlanet! Full didgital distribution for PSP… and G4 programming in the video store today! I’m a happy camper, thanks Sony. I couldn’t ask for much more… :D

  • Highlights for me: exclusivity of Rockstar “Agent” and FF14, GT5 damage confirmation, GOW3 gameplay, possibilities of new controller, casual jokes aimed at press, support for both PSP 3000 and PSP Go, AC2 gameplay

Meh: MG Peace Walker, not mentioning Rising, bombardment of 3rd party game clips

Lowlight: not having a trailer for the Rockstar exclusive “Agent”, awkward translator for GT5 producer, the geek factor of the new controller presentation and not having any more details for when gamers and more importantly, developers will actually be able to get their hands on it

Overall, I really enjoyed the conference though. I think Sony is aiming really high and really trying to push the industry forward with all their ideas and obvious strong support of 3rd party devs.

  • Sony has everything to learn from Microsoft about user interface – XMB is ugly and not weel enough strucured for browsing dozen of music videos or games (NXE is way more attractive) whithout hesitation. Even PS Store is no match compared to Xbox Live when it comes to organisation – I’m not talking about content.

  • I agree with everyone who said this was a great conference. Sony did very well since alot of their stuff was leaked early.

  • I came

  • Thanks for covering Jeff.

    Quick tid bits
-I don’t want motion control, if i did i would have bought a wii

-On that racing game, put LBP racers on it, guarantee you it will sell more.

-The last Guardian… Please don’t show a repeat trailer

-Please play the Major games instead of showing it off in a gimick trailer

-Lastly where was the games you were hyping up. I wanted to see playable Heavy Rain and White Knight Chronicles.

Overall it was a good confrence. Compared to last year it was a major drop.

  • $250 sony?

$199 for the Go and $150 for the PSP 3000 tops. You must want digital distribution to fail.

  • First off, i was disappointed that the presser didn’t mention The Agency or Alpha Protocol, altho Agent sounds like a fun one.

Is there anyway the floor demos could make their way online so those of us who aren’t industry insiders or Angelinos who knows a guy who knows a guy can get a taste of what’s to come?

  • FF13 MMO. Heh! I’ve heard the word exclusive before. So I’ll take it with a grain of salt!

Can you guys explain to me why the PSP Go $250? Aren’t you guys using the same tech from the regular PSP? Actually there’s less component in the GO! Its a repackage tech.

  • Complete and utter Sony domination.

Microsoft’s one ‘big’ announcement other than their EyeToy ripoff gets annihilated by Kojima himself right there in front of the entire gaming world.

  • NICE, I can’t wait to play Metal Gear Solid RISING on my NON-EXISTING XBOX 360 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank You SONY!!!

I LOVE YOU! FOR EVERYTHING YOU GUYS DO NOT DO!
