Hello, I just wanted to provide everyone with a head’s up that the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update (v.2.76) will be coming soon. This is a minor update that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.

PS2 BC for all. Thoguh I understand why it probably won’t happen. Modders can’t even get this functioning properly on quad core PCs.
And what’s with the lack of ps1 titles on the Store? That’s like free money for you guys! We’ve only seen ONE new game on the NA Store this year. SCEJ, on the other hand, knows how to do it right.

By the way, why didn’t you mention what the update contains? Don’t you usually list them along with the announcement that an update is coming. If the update is still far away and there is still a chance to add new features, can you please add some of these…
1. Cross-game voice chat (skype would be prefered).
2. Can you remove the reauthorization thing that the last firmware enabled? My game-sharing friend is in another country.
3. Faster download for things from the store and also game updates…they take longer compared to the other box.
4. Can you improve PS2 software compatibility for 80GB PS3 (Motorstorm and MGS bundles)??
5. In game XMB for any kind of media that the PS3 can run.
6. If at the end this update only improve PS3 software stability, can you really improve ALL games?? I know that inFAMOUS is coming out, but please improve all PS3 software (enable in-game XMB for ENCHANTED ARMS, etc…)

I hope it will soon be possible to copy a avatar photo from your PS Home and send it to be your PSN avatar aswell.

I love to actually see the ability to save alternate network connection info especially when I need to switch from wired network to wireless network when I use my ps3 in a different room or at a friend’s house that has a different wireless or wired network setup. it’s a feture that that the ds,wii, and dsi have but only allow 3 connections then you have to replace 1 if something changes
hopefully sony adds skype to ps3 its on psp so why not

how does cross game chat suppose to work, if you talkin to your friend during the game everybody in that game is gonna hear what you talking too? how you suppose to switch when you want talk to the game people and your friend back and forth
I agree that it would be nice to know more about the updates. Many of us are used to PC patches where they tell you everything the patch is supposed to do.

I wouldnt mind seeing my actual exp for the trophies. Maybe put the exp count on the bar like 1000/3000 to next level so I can actually see myself leveling up. Right now at level 9 if I unlock a bronze trophy my percentage doesnt even go up one percent.
wtf?? am i missing something how do you go from 2.70 to 2.76 and call it a minor update shouldnt it be 2.71
two things i would recommend on future updates:
1) cross game voice chat
2) making the ps3 fight sticks compatible with ps2 fighting games. for example, playing guilty gear accent core with the street fighter 4 tournament stick.

Trophies don’t need their game reopened to display after a hard drive upgrade or backup restore.

Download is now available. The convention is June 2-4.
It appears to be a download direct to the PS3. I don’t think they have updated the website download yet.
I hope there’s a fix for the browser you guys broke with the last update. Good work on all the other updates though.

it could also be something for the PlayStation store, i remember there was an update needed to get the dlc for disgaea.
I love secret updates that are later activated remotely by sony during press confrences :O I wonder what it is hiding under all that nothing
I ave a feeling this lays the groundwork for something to be announced at E3.
And no, you wouldn’t use Cross-Game chat in something like Warhawk or SOCOM or any game where you plan to be online. That’s more for people who want to chat, but also want to be playing a game. Scaling the Bloody Palace in Devil May Cry 4 is a long and monotonous task, but having someone to talk to, say perhaps someone else playing the same single player game, makes it a lot bearable.
More stability = good.

eric we also need a transparent messages when they pop up(not the words)its really annoying when u have 100 ppl in ur list. also at time when u send a message in game it frezzes before u can send the message(game doesnt freeze it still playin in background)and also being able to create your own avatar

For those of you that want the cross game invites, how hard is it to send a message and say join my game? You still have load up the game anyway. Cross-game chat seems overrated as well. I don’t want to talk while gaming unless its with my team. I like the text chat, cuz I can contribute when I want. Thanks again.

Hey Eric you know what would be helpful, if we can actually download the update without getting error messages every try. On top of that you can’t download it off of the Playstation site. Way to go guys. You give us a surprise update that does nothing, only to have server issues.
Ughhh, it stops in the middle of my DL everytime. Why don’t they put the update on the site so I can actually use the “Update from media storage device” option? This pisses me off.
Sony fans really are [DELETED] aren’t they? While that’s one way to deal with things, another way would be to wait and see what Sony has in store for us at E3 before you open your mouths with nothing but hate toward a company that you love.
