Pata-post Friday Presents: Patapon 2 Demo

77 0

Happy lucky Friday the 13th to all! Lucky because it is once again time for the much participated, happily anticipated, and long-awaited Pata-post Friday!

My official mission with today’s post is to begin recruitment of a select number of individual who enjoy the following special qualities:

  • Enjoy lively music with a catchy rhythm.
  • Love to dance.
  • Like drums
  • Enjoy wearing funny (yet powerful) helms.
  • Is not a grouch.

If you think the qualities above describe your personality, then get your thumbs ready for the brand new (to us at least) Patapon 2 Demo (now in English!).

For those new to the Patapon tale, here’s a crash course: a band of loveable warriors dance-chant-kill through treacherous battlefields in search for the homeland of their ancestors, much beloved (and praised) Earthend.

Patapon 2

Patapon 2 is the next chapter, and you’ll find that their search has led them to be shipped-wrecked on foreign shores with little to survive except their sacred drums, their fever for Earthend, and you their “Mighty One” to guide them.

So what’s in the demo you ask? Well, first of all there are five amazingly jive-tastic levels for you to pata-pata-pata-pon your way through, which I should add, is just a small sample of the smorgasbord of 80+ levels your fight through in the full game.

Patapon 2 - Matter of Life Tree

You’ll also be introduced to the new Hero Patapon as well as test your troop evolution and customization at ye ol’ Mater Tree of Life.

You’ll also unlock the secret Patagate, an entrance to a mystical world of multiplayer! Yes, Patapon 2 has gone the way of ad-hoc, so you and up to 3 friends will be able to march, attack, and defend your way to victory, as well as unlocking new secret abilities for the Hero Patapon.

Patapon 2 - Game Share

Plus, as an added bonus, we’ve thrown GameShare, so you can set up an impromptu ad-hoc session you’re your friends (even if they are Patapon-less).

But that’s not all! For all your early adopters (that means you) out there, we’ll also be giving you a very special Lordy Hairpiece, a one of a kind Helm only available to everyone that gets the demo.

Patapon 2 - Lordy Hairpiece

We know that you will rub your thumbs raw playing the demo, so to honor your hard work and dedication, all your progress and items collected during the demo (including the super-stylish Lordy Hairpiece) will transfer over to the full version.

The greatness that is the Patapon 2 Demo is available exclusively to all you warriors out there that reserve a copy in advance! So now that you’ve all been edumacated on the way of Patapon, Patapon 2 demo and the rule of drums, all that is left for you to do is click on one of the two links below:

Step 1: Click here for GameStop pre-order.
Step 2: Click here for Amazon.com pre-order.

You can do it!!

(Each retailer is different so be sure to check the program details!)

  • Almost everyone agrees that it should be placed in the PS Store,
so please try to put it in by next week

  • Again pre-order only?

With Patapon 1 you made the demo pre-order only, yet freely available everywhere else in the world.

People cried foul and you caved and released it freely here too.

Now you’re back to pre-order only?

    Do you not learn?

I swear you make the worst possible decisiosn on PURPOSE.

  • In case any of you were wondering, it looks like in order to get the “LORDY HAIRPIECE” you will need you Patapon 1 savegame on your psp. I thought mine was gone, but turned out that it just didn’t work with Europe demo, duh.

  • it looks cute and interesting!

  • Stop with the Pre-Order Scam to get a demo. The demo should be for Free on the PSN! Putting a Demo out on the PSN for free for this Great Game will get you a ton more buyers then Scamming them into a pre-order! Show some class and put this demo up for free on the PSN now.
    Thank You!

  • @all people complaining about pre-order demo access

Can you please give me one game that has that pre-order demo access that didn’t made it on PSN? Because as far as I remember when the actual day of release comes, or a few days before that, the demos makes it on PSN. I think the whole point of this is to give people a taste of what they already have earlier, to preview what they are so eager to buy. But then again, how will you make people eager to buy stuffs at day one if you don’t give them a taste either?

So I agree with 38, it’s pointless. It’s really a bad thing to do Sony. Think of other pre-order incentive already.

My PS3 games have been bought from different regions, so here in the house we’ve setup 3 accounts, US, Europe and Asia(HK) for the DLCs. And I am so glad that demos do get on the PSN in Europe and Asia PSNs earlier that the US one, and it doesn’t require pre-order.

Kind of fun too, I can explore what the other PSN regions can offer me.

  • OH yeah, I love Patapon!

Sorry I forgot to mention that.

I hope this one’s awesome as well. I’ll be checking PSN out for the demo.

  • As others have said, this has to stop. For most, pre-ordering is a completely ridiculous concept. Why would I give a store money for something before they’re ready to give it to me? It’s not like there won’t be plenty of copies in the store on release day. I’ve never been shut out of a game in my life. Stop holding demos hostage. SCEA seems to be the only division doing this. Please stop.

  • I’ll think about pre-ordering after I try the demo, not the other way around.

  • As much as I despise this ‘demo with pre-order’ policy, I admit that I am part of the problem because I keep pre-ordering the games. Patapon 2 was a sure thing for me, so what the heck. My problem is, I’d much rather pick the game up as a download from the PSN store instead of a retail copy so as soon as I get my demo code I’ll be canceling my pre-order.

That is if I actually get the demo code. Last time I tried this with Resistance: Retribution and never got my code. Hoping for better luck this time.

  • This is completely and utterly ridiculous. A demo is a tryout for a game. It is for people who want to try a game BEFORE they buy, not for people who have essentially bought it already. This whole “get a demo if you pre-order” is VERY VERY absurd, I think, and it’s also unfair if you offer special demo-only content. Demos should be in the PS store and freely available to all, especially if, from what I’ve seen, the Patapon 2 demo is available in the Japanese PS store and Europeon store.

  • I preordered a while ago from Amazon. They originally said download codes would come out on 3/13. Now, after contacting Amazon support, they said download codes won’t be available until 4/13… Is that right?

  • Very interesting presentation of the new game, but not as convincing as playing the demo itself, as I did before buying the first Patapon last year. Sorry Sony, but you won’t get my money before allowing me to play the demo.

  • Do Patapon shop at Target?

  • Can someone answer two questions for me:

    1) What puropose do pre-order bonus “only” demos serve?

    2) Why claim you have pre-order bonuses when everyone else eventually gets them later.

Hang on I have a third:
    3) Why does Sony keep putting pre-order bonuses through GameStop, who make most of their profits in a way that doesn’t go back to Sony? Don;t get me wrong, I buy games used a lot, but not from GameStop. I can get a good deal from GameFly.

  • I HAVE TO AGREE THIS REALLY IS NOT SMART AT ALL ON THE PART OF SONY. I WAS GOING TO PRE-ORDER BUT NOW I AM GOING TO WAIT IT OUT TO SEE IF A FREE DEMO COMES OUT OF ALL OF THIS. I REALLY LOVE SONY AND THERE CONSOLES, AND NEVER WAS A XBOX OR XBOX 360 FAN I DID HAVE A XBOX BUT I DID NOT BUY IT MY DAD DID OFF A FRIEND OF HIS. ANYWAYS SONY YOU NEED TO FIX WHAT YOU HAVE BROKEN YOU ARE NOW DEAD LAST IN THIS CONSOLE WAR. YOU CAN START BY NOT GIVING DEMO TO PRE-ORDERS ONLY AND BY LOCK UP MORE SONY ONLY GAMES THAT ARE ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD GAMES, FOR EXAMPLE: GTA USED TO BE ONLY A SONY THING, RESIDENT EVIL USED TO BE ONLY ON SONY TOO, AND I WAS A BIG FAN OF ACE COMBAT BUT NOW THAT GAME WENT TO XBOX 360 ONLY A FEW YEARS BACK. SO YEAH SONY STOP DRAGGING YOUR FEET AND DO THINGS RIGHT.

  • Anyone get their code from Amazon.com yet? I’m going to guess the answer is no, as just like with Resistance I have not received my code although I have pre-ordered.

I really wish someone at Sony would comment about this, as once again I feel duped :(

  • ^I’m still waiting for my code from amazon. I’m thinking about emailing them to ask when they will be sent out.

  • Has anyone noticed that no one has replied to any of our comments(the red box that goes under the comment)

I don’t think they’re going to put a demo out until after the pre-order thing is over

  • @68 coqui53186 – There’s a key above the left Shift key on your keyboard called “Caps Lock.” Why don’t you try pressing it again (just once) so your typing DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME?

  • How do you get the Lordy Hairpiece?

  • And yes I do have the demo

  • Did you finish it?
Maybe it’s like the Patapon 1 demo, you get it in the last level

  • I got all the levels on the demo, the only thing I have not done is beat the Ice Dino, but from the looking you might not get it untell you get the game and all the stuff trasfers over including the hair piece.

  • I found out that when you transfer the Patapon 2 demo save to the full game
the lordy hairpiece will then appear in your inventory

BTW use the HERO tatepon to recieve no damage from the Ice Dino
but make sure you use his power when he roars… trust me.
