PlayStation Home is Now Live!

941 0

Hi PLAYSTATION 3 community,

I am so very happy to announce that PlayStation Home has now officially entered into Open Beta. Restart your PLAYSTATION 3, and you will see the PlayStation Home icon under the PlayStation Network column of the XMB. Click on the icon, and you are in.

Getting to this point has required a tremendous amount of participation, input, care, and passion from the thousands of beta testers who helped make PlayStation Home what it is today. So to all of you that have tested, from all of us on the PlayStation Home team here at Sony: “Thank You!”

For those of you that are new to PlayStation Home, be sure to plug in a USB keyboard (or pair your Bluetooth headset) and start meeting your fellow PS3 owners. And remember, even with all the spaces, rewards, items, and activities available today, what you see now is just the beginning. Home will grow, change, and evolve very quickly – and it is all based on your feedback.

This is your community, and we are listening.

  • @293 if xbox can handle home then way they dont have it? because they cant . this have never been done before so wait and chill.

  • ya i cant get on keep getting a log in message. oh well though i’m sure its worth the wait

  • To Post 225. Buddy this might be a BETA but atleast let us sign in! There is NO BETA if we can’t even sign into to the OPEN BETA. It doesn’t make sense. Was Sony not ready for the extreme number of logins? Wasnt the so-called “CLOSED BETA” supposed to take care of issues such as these? Maybe someone needs to reassess their QA staff and network admins. Btw… I’m looking for a job these days….hint..I’m a veteran network admin!

  • Fail at Signing in…. Timing out
    Reporting in from Indiana…

  • I have a very important question… While with HOME the feedback from its users is very important, I feel that most people don’t know how to get their opinions to you guys…

I think that it’d be great if you could create some sort of a weekly questionaire type thing that’s available straight from the Playstation 3’s XMB! That would make it EXTREMELY easy for EVERYONE to get their feedback and opinions out to the HOME team!

Just a thought… I think it would benefit you guys a lot though!

  • User generated content is a must considering microsoft is rolling out their community games.

  • I counted on this happening. This is a very common problem for major, online releases. Hopefully things will be normal soon.

  • i cant singn in because it saying request timed out

  • You have to go to playstation network and look for the home icon.
    Maybe do a system update.

  • good job with the dance party sony, wish i could be there… to bad i get some error code or log in arror when ever i try to sign in. home sure looks like fun, wish i could be apart of it.

  • I blame Barack Obama.

  • yep im from Indiana too and unable to log in

  • bah! New error having to do with Signing in… This is after having “read” through the terms and conditions. Ah well, this must be progress!

  • I’m not sure why everyone finds it so difficult to understand why the servers are down.

Do you guys honestly think that there’s constantly going to be several thousand people trying to login to Home at the same time?

The only reason why Home’s login servers crashed is because it’s just launched and everyone is trying to get into it at the same time.

After a week or two, there’s going to be only a fraction of the amount of players trying to get on.

So please stop telling Sony that Home was a failure, the servers are down, and that you’re getting error codes that people have reported a hundred times before.

  • ah man im gonna miss the party at the plaza cuz i cant login it keeps requesting timed out….. :(

  • Can’t log in either in california, it either times out or i get a c-997 message

  • @186 we all paid for our ps3 and we all have the right to comment about this issue so dont get upset if someone complain about your comment we have the right to dude if you can give it then you should take it

  • So is this a universal issue or can some actually get in?

  • Someones getting fired! Sony just announced 8k lay-offs.. I hope they didnt lay-off their QA staff and Network admins!!

  • well then dont launxh something major that you’ve been spinning for two years, that everyone is looking forward to if you cant handle it. this is ridiculous.

  • 266 – they shouldve prepared for millions then…

  • yet another disapointment from sony u say everyone gets it, then lots of people don’t, keep up the good work…

  • @239
I literally laughed out loud when I read your comment.

Firstly, do you not remember a couple christmases ago when xbox live was down or non-functional for A MONTH?

I’m not a fanboy one direction or the other. I own both machines and play games on both very regularly. But there are a few things you aren’t considering:

    1. PSN is free, xbox live is paid (and was non functional for a month after the holidays a year or so ago)

    2. Home is just now reaching PUBLIC BETA. This is important to consider for a couple reasons. Firstly, Beta testing is purely to test the application before final release so problems can be ironed out before things release. Secondly, Open Betas — especially for an internet application like Home — is for STRESS TESTING THE SERVERS. They EXPECT the servers to fail. Then they scale and prepare for launch. Open Betas ARE NOT DEMOS.

  • So does this mean we are all Homeless?

  • back to drawing bored

  • Doesn’t work. Closed beta did. Open doesn’t. Hope they fix it soon.

  • Totally homeless

  • Where is the PSN update?! The thought of Lumines is burning my wallet!!!

  • ITS SAYS IM NOT OLD ENOUGH!!!
    IM 15
    What gives???

  • well, i finally got in…going to go see what the hype is all about.

  • any1 connecting in michigan?

  • Got in! Lol. How exciting.

  • I seem to be having postive results. I’ve made my avatar and ventured to the plaza and mall and can hear people voice chatting. Now I’m going to try to get on again and see if I have any problems… p.s. I live in the midwest if that helps.

  • Mine has been trying to sign-in for about the past 20 minutes. Still no-success. I’ll keep it at this state, so atleast I’m contributing to the server failure :-)

  • Yeah…doesn’t work. I got to make my guy (the basics at least) and then walk around for 5 minutes, then it kicked me and hasn’t let me back in since. I don’t know if Sony really understands that it isn’t working, for anyone. They better start looking into it, I hope that’s the reason they haven’t responded to us about it also.

  • I dont care that i cant get in, cuz who wudn’t have problems with something this huge. but for you to not say anything and keep this post up is misleading at the least. even if you dont know what the problem is you should at least issue an apology or say that you are working on it.

  • You guys need to do a weekly blog update on Home to outline its features. For example one week you could highlight avatar creation and the next discuss redecorating and so on.

Don’t let this thing go unnoticed. each Home component needs attention in the media and for gamers.

  • haha im with u slick

  • Exactly 298. Apology needed.

  • is it really necessary to invert the controls while spinning my character to see its haircut? is this call of duty while im spinning a turret on a plane while saving the world from nuclear enemies or a dork with a weave?

  • Apparently “Playstation Home is Now Live!” was posted a bit prematurely. The US east coast is still getting time out errors while trying to sign in this evening.

    “Request timed out

    /HUBPS3_SVML/account/SP_Login_Submit.jsp”

I’m sure Sony’s got some worried employee scurrying about trying to figure out what on earth is going on.

  • Couldn’t Sony have increased the bandwidth to allow for the increased traffic to the servers? I’ve been trying for hours to get in and I live on the east coast, not that that matters much, in my opinion. I have been plagued with error codes! C’mon Sony!

  • Well… This was totally expected for me. I need a home but the server fails!!!

  • @239 if xbox can handle home then why they dont have something like home ? because they cant people its the first of it kind so stop being a tool and give sony time.

  • i was in for like 2 hours then i got booted wtf now i cant sign in….

  • Forget Xbox.. Sony can’t handle it at this point in time 296

  • AND ANOTHER THING.

HOME HAS NOT LAUNCHED. (look out. I’m using the big letters now)

This is not a launch. This is not final version. This is a BETA. I’m seeing too many people throwing statements around like:

“well then dont launxh something major that you’ve been spinning for two years, that everyone is looking forward to if you cant handle it. this is ridiculous.”

There are at least five posts that say this general same thing. You kiddies have the wrong idea. Nothing has launched. This is not launch date. This is not the final product. This is a beta that you’re fortunate enough to take part in. This isn’t a demo, this isn’t a full and complete application.

It’s because of these morons that betas need to be closed. Always. Don’t open them to the public. There’s no need. No matter how many times you say it’s a beta, they’ll think you’re delivering a finished product.

  • IM IN!!!
