  • Another issue with the 2.5 firmware: I noticed that now some videos that get played from the PS3 are in a different video-mode.
My TV set doesn’t support NTSC very well (only 50 or 60hrz, im not sure) but this did not cause many problems yet. Blu-Ray movies didnt show properly before though (in grainy black/white only) while all videos downloaded from the European PSN store played fine in full colour.
With the 2.5 firmware however, half of the videos that USED to playback fine, now show in grainy black & white, so it seems like the video output signal is a different NTSC type.

I have tried to fiddle with the video and monitor settings of the PS3, but having tried all options, none can fix the playback problems.

Im not going to upgrade my TV set because of software issues, please have it changed back!

  • Really happy with FW 2.5 over here :D
Can’t wait for games to support the screen-capture feature, will there be an option to omit the hud display in screen captures?

Also, kinda random, but I’ve always wondered about this: How come when you’re signed out you can still read recieved and sent PSN messages? And why if you log onto one PS3 and recieve a message, and then log onto a different PS3, the message won’t show there?

Sorry for all the ?’s, just always wanted to know. ;)

  • Hi jeff dont know if it was the new FW update but my folding@home dont want to join there server it just tryin to log on to serever good week 4 sony oOo and socom startin to freeze on me alote thanks jeff ur the man goin to checkout ps nation read u on it see what u got to say peace out my brother

  • great firmware Jeff keep up the good work… also a calendar would be nice under the xmb.

  • I just wanted to say thanks for using my suggestions regarding the video playback in FW 2.5. Sequential playback and scene select are things I REALLY needed, and it’s great to have.

Also, Flash Player 9 simply rules all . . . I never have to worry about missing an episode of Heroes ever, ever again!!

Can’t wait to hear more info about the R2 beta. Hope I get in, but if not, that’s cool too; I honestly don’t have as much time as I used to since I got the new job. I only have serious gametime during the weekends now, although I squeeze in a few hours in my workweek as well.

    Anyways, thanks.

  • @51: The messages are stored on your HDD, not the servers. Once you go online, and message that was sent downloads to your HDD. Once it’s there, it’s there; no going back. So if you’re on one PS3 and get a message, and then go back to your other PS3, of course you won’t see it; it’s on the first PS3s HDD.

  • Oh crap . . . almost forgot.

LwP is awesome . . . or, at least it was on daay one, when it worked. After that, iff I try to click on a news story, it freezes and I have to manually turn off my PS3 (and hear the three beeps). If I go into LwP and then exit the program, my PS3 beeps three times and then resets itself. Sometimes, just switching channels from LwP to F@H also causes it to freeze, so that’s another manual reset (and three beeps).

The program is cool, but I’d like it better if it worked. Please pass this up, Jeff; I’d appreciate it.

  • Hey Jeff,

I have also had the auto fill problem too. I wanted to know, what games are compatible with the in-game screenshots and are you guys ever going to make an in-game video capturing software, it will be much appreciated to show off our skills.

  • Im A Qore annual subscriber but still the beta key hasnt been sent to my mail!!!! PSN ID Santhiel

  • More options to organize our Games on the XMB would be nice. Maybe even a custom one where we can name different folders “Demos”, “Qore”, “PSN Games”, etc. Mine is getting a little cluttered from all of the awesome downloads.

  • Major Update to High Velocity Bowling

Any word on a patch for Stats not updating problem with the online games?

  • @BlackSheepBoy

You can organise your games. If you hit triangle on the game you want to place in a folder, then choose Information. The game info will pop up and there is a place for you to write in the name of the folder you want to place it in.

Only thing I would like improved is having the opportunity to create the directory and then just moving the games in those directories / folders. As it is now you have to click on each individual game and go to information and type in the folder name.
