  • Yeah just a subscription for the video store.so that users had an option..but for those real loyal movie watchers you have the option of subscribing and viewing as many movies as you want.but it has to be clearly stated that the mnthly fee is JUST for the video store or else I could imagine how the fanboys would flip it on the ps3 if they heard the word SUBSCRIPTION being mentioned…

  • Can you get more futurama

  • more…more…more…. lol good additions

  • Good stuff, good stuff. Still not buying movies yet, waiting until I upgrade my HDD.

  • Great, now make it available for other American countries besides the US

  • I think you guys should OFFICALLY explain how the whole system works, the rental, and buying, how long you keep it, things like that.

  • Another great update to get the europeans more angry … I h8 u because of that

  • I have one suggestion for the “top weekly downloads” chart: Include a column for the items’ release dates so we can see what kind of legs the movies are having. :)

  • ^ edit: “age in weeks” would probably be a little easier on the brain, actually.

  • Caddyshack…………II? ho boy.

  • Bring the store to Canada!!!!!

    Come on!

    Please!!!!

What else do you want me to say?! Pay your lawyers to get the job done! Are you waiting for the Canadian money to get cheaper?

    Hurry!

  • Please add James Bond movies, and some Clint Eastwood westerns, oh and some B-rated sci-fi/horror films. Also, anything from the Criterion collection, movies from one featured director would be nice too, such as all the films of Stanley Kubrick, etc.

  • Suggestions:
    1. Have all of the episodes available in a tv series season.
    2. Be able to purchase a whole season (at a discount compared to the total of buying every episode).
    Thanks.

I really don’t understand why Sony region locks services. They’ve said before that they do this so they can cater to different cultures, but if people WANT to use a service, wether or not it’s akin to their base country’s tastes, they should.

This applies to Home too, while it might be good to separate people, due to the differences in ad reception, language, etc., if people WANT to try it out to see what it’s like (maybe they have friends from different countries or want to check out region exclusive content, like how the Stores are set up), they should. Don’t lock services, thinking you know what people want, Sony, people are unique and may have interests in a vast majority of things that you can’t possibly come up with on your own. By giving people CHOICE, the consumer really can’t complain unless the product is bad.

Please respond if I’m missing some key point that obligates you to region lock (though, I’m sure whatever it is there’s a way around, there always is).

BTW I am American, bought my PS3, games, and peripherals in the U.S., and use the North American PS Store, but yet I still do not have access to this video store.

The Video Store does seems to be coming along nicely, though, and if I DID have access to it, I would probably recommend more Universal content, more Comedy Central, and also any classic blockbuster movies, perhaps from Spielberg. All that would be nice to have for when I can finally access this Store.

  • get USA to sign up. need Monk,Psych,Burn notice, and In Plain Sight.

  • wheres Harold and Kumar?

  • @49

Let’s say you rented a DVD from blockbuster or netflix, after you return the DVD back, are you allowed to take it again for free even though you paid for it for the first time? No. This is rental, and rental != purchase.

  • @43 Cowboy Dan,

actually, if you google it, you’ll find we’ve been able to stream the netflix content to our 360’s for some time, but the official integration is scheduled for later on..

if you’ve got an Xbox 360 and a Windows Vista PC, you don’t have to shell out $99 for Roku’s Netflix Player box to get your Watch Instantly library on your TV screen—you already have everything you need. Using the free Windows Media Center plug-in, vmcNetflix, you can turn your Xbox 360 into a Netflix Watch Instantly box.

so i’m just saying Sony should take heed and adapt to the situation at hand, that’s all!

I just want my PS3 to be the best!

    :)

  • my video store requests

    1. every video (tv shows & movies) able to be rented. TV shows should rent for .99

    2. monthly rental only subscription options

    3. renatls can be viewed unlimited times for at least 3 days starting on first viewing

    4. lower purchase prices for 15 min. adult swim tv shows (should be .99-1.25) and if a show is a hour long, then (2.49-2.99)

    5. no single rental should be more than 4.99

    6. weekly specials on select movies and shows

    7. all movies should have a preview

I see the video store only as a rental store in my living room. I would much rather have a blu-ray disc if I was going to purchase a movie. The cost of a disc may be twice as much but it usually offers 2 to 3 times more bang for you buck and has resale value. Basically I feel SCEA needs to price and promote the rental aspect of the store better. There is a huge potential for the rental side of this store.

  • Will these movies ever be encoded in 5.1 sound?

  • Speaking of Harry Potter, you should post Wizard People as a free download!

  • Please make this feature available outside US :(

    Please please please!

  • I love downloading rentals, but if I were to buy a movie, I’d rather just get the DVD or Blu-Ray. There are a TON of movies I want to see, and the PSN store is a great way to rent them before taking the plunge on a physical copy. I’ve already watched some 80’s classics that I’d never seen before. $3 is a great price for seeing a movie I’ve never seen.

HOWEVER, I want to see much much more of the store become available for rental. I don’t understand why a movie can be available for purchase but not rental. It makes no sense, because unlike physical rental stores, Sony and its partners are making money directly from these rentals. I’m not ready to pay $12 or $15 for a movie unless I know I will like it, but I’d rent a TON of stuff for $3 or $4.

PLEASE make more movies available for rent!

  • just a request, how about putting the lord of the rings trilogy?

  • Needs more anime. Not trying to be a [DELETED], but I’m sure Gonzo has had enough attention now. I doubt they’ll go bankrupt this year. *jinx* Really, though, Funimation needs to crank out some more titles for that baby. Still waiting for Fullmetal Alchemist. New shows like Claymore and When They Cry would be nice too. Just give me more anime, or at least tell us when we might see some more. Thanks for what you have done so far. :D

  • Made an accout just to yell out Canada!!! Only reason I never bought an apple tv is because my ps3 does almost everything it can. Was really counting on renting movies from my couch.

Common guys, I want to give you money! Take it. Please. You’re not letting me!

  • I’m in S.Korea and wish i could download a movie, or TV show. I’m on a military installation and I’m American with an American PS3. Yet, I can’t enjoy what other Americans can and we all own the same thing (PS3). What makes matters worst is that I’m defending America. SOny you guys gotta do better

  • If Bad Boys is in HD I swear I will buy it TWICE.

  • once again, bad taste of movies prevails, whats wrong with u?

now more crappy movies will never stop being made..

  • I don’t understand why Xam’d isn’t higher each week. It’s pretty good!

  • Off the subject:

Does anybody on here knows when are we going to get Xbox 360’s left over of Infinite Undiscovery? GOD DAMNIT! I I hate left overs, but I really want an RPG. Not interested in tactical RPGs neither.

  • still no canadian support…?

  • I like that you guys do this every week. I was wondering what the deal is with not being able to purchase HD movies? Is it a pricing issue as it stands? Anyways, I enjoy thee updates and will be getting Platoon for sure. I just hope its in HD! :) The more HD thats added the more I will buy.

  • LoTuZ,

The reason there is no HD content to purchase on the PSN Video Store is this: the PS3 is heavily marketed for it’s Blu-ray movie playback capabilities and being able to purchase HD movies would most likely cut into Sony’s slice of the Blu-ray pie. They want more people to BUY Blu-rays for their HD purchases, not downloads. Makes complete business sense to me.

  • Subscription would be nice..(why oh why can’t I log in here on my PS3?) /poke Sony.

  • Oh i what to have this in Sweden :(
    and see Xma’d :D

  • I also wish we get Disney Channel Programs, for the kids in our houses.

  • WHA??! Harry Potter, Bad Boys National Security… GRRRRRR I HATE YOU AMERICA!!! No…I HATE EUROPE!! I want that bloody video download store in the EU ASAP!! :-(

  • I forgot to mention this, but it would be wonderful if there were some sort of subscription option, even with limitations, that or price drops would be awesome, but alas that is just a wish of us poor folks

  • How about a PSP firmware update instead of PS Store update?!

  • Hi Grace…

Can you address the lack of preview for video and games with those in charge of such things? I live in a country that has capped dl levels and being able to preview a game (for instance) before downloading a demo would be VERY worthwile.

    All the best.

Also…I don’t have Rock Band but I understood that there is an in game store..yet songs are always released and advertised on the PSN. Why is the same not being done with SingStar? It would be much more convenient to know when new content arrives to just see it in the PSN instead of having to boot up the game…is this a PSN choice or SingStars?

    All the best.

  • I am having good luck with BUYING t.v. shows on psn, but I wont rent off psn until there is a better system for renting. We need somthing like the ability to keep videos until we want to rent another one and have a monthly membership(cheaper then netflix). I hope sony is listening, because they could be the best with movie rentals.

  • I for one hope that Sony does NOT decide to charge a monthly fee. I and a lot of people I know don’t have the money for that, and I much prefer to only pay when I’m actually making a purchase; just like when I walk into Blockbuster.

  • Fantastic releases, Too Bad us Canadians can’t access it as of yet. Soon Hopefully. Right?

  • I wish SONY would add Dirty Jobs to the PSN.

  • @45

I completely agree MORE ANIME! :P

Seriously, I think it would be awesome for Sony to get together with a channel like The Anime Network to offer some really off the chain anime series. Also I agree with others when I say I’d love to see some more Adult Swim–especially Venture Bros. and Boondocks. Not to mention some History Channel and TruTV/Courtv content.

On a side note…what the hell is up w/ some of the selection of content in the top 10 out of 20 dls….Meet the Spartans, 10,000BC, Jumpers (and ‘no’ just ‘cuz Samuel L. Jackson is in don’t make it any less wack)…..and Drillbit Taylor??

WTF??? C’mon now, I know there’s got to be Americans out there w/ better taste then that….really, that’s just sad. :(

  • I do hope there will be some sort of way to purchase an entire season for less than the price of buying each episode individually like you can with itunes. But first, we need to make sure that all the shows have all the episodes. There’s too many shows on the store that have only a handful of episodes or some that have all episodes except for three or four. Why is this? Is it due to the content of the episodes? It’s not like it costs anymore to host all the episodes as opposed to just a few.

I agree with the guy who said that the rental system needs to be fleshed out a bit more. In reality few people would choose to buy a SD copy of a movie in digital format instead of a physical copy on DVD or bluray. The rental system is the real money maker here. All movies should be rent-able.

It would also be nice to see some more classic tv shows that are more difficult to find. How awesome would it be to get 80’s cartoons like transformers and GI Joe on the ps3? If all the content is the same as every other online video store out there, there’s no real reason to use the ps3 store. But if you have content no one else has, then people will come to the ps3 and buy all their other stuff here too.

  • homeward bound hellz yeah! hahaha I have no problems with this movie update for the week.

    cheers,
    Lh
