721 0

Today we are announcing that Qore: Presented by the PLAYSTATION Network, a highly interactive, monthly lifestyle gaming program covering the world inside PLAYSTATION is on its way to PS3. Qore has been developed to give PS3 users early access to game related content at a level of quality, interactivity and depth. Everything is filmed in HD. Qore will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.

Qore

Our premier episode will be available on Thursday, June 5. The premier episode includes in-depth exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming PlayStation titles such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai, as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme with an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, art galleries and other surprises. We also know that many of you are big fans of Veronica Belmont, the widely-known host of numerous online video programs and podcasts and an avid gamer, so we’ve chosen her to be your host.

To get Qore, simply log onto PSN and go to the PLAYSTATION Store, as you would purchase any other form of downloadable content. Once the single Episode or annual subscription is purchased, that month’s episode will be downloaded under the “Game” heading on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). Users who purchase the “Qore Annual Subscription” will notice only that month’s episode is available to download. The following month, the new episode will automatically appear in your download list. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet.

As Peter Dille mentioned in a previous PLAYSTATION Network post, the broader service and community initiatives launching on the PLAYSTATION Network this year such as Qore, PlayStation Home and the Video Download Service are all evidence of our dedication to delivering an all-encompassing entertainment experience for PS fans. Qore is the first in a series of planned original programming specifically created for the PLAYSTATION Network community and we hope you enjoy it.

  • screw home, in game xmb, trophies, little big planet and killzone 2… we have an interactive magazine!!! why spend time and money on working with developers to help them better understand the ps3 so they stop using xbox as a lead platform and sticking us with glitch ridden ports? who cares every ps3 exclusive is delayed. we still have no trophies or in game xmb. yes, qore might be cool but time and resources should be focused elsewhere right now. i’ve supported the ps3 since the first day but everything is delayed and now they throw us an interactive magazine. i know in game xmb and everything else is coming but it should already be here!!!

  • Reason #1 As to why Sony shouldnt listen to gamers

They want everything and complain about anything.

  • whatisdelicious

The problem I think a lot of people have on here is that they’re looking at it like they’d be getting Content A and Demo B for free on Date C if Qore didn’t exist. That’s wrong.

Without Qore, they wouldn’t have bothered to MAKE Content A, and you won’t be getting Demo B LATE; Qore subscribers will just be getting it EARLY.

Of course, this is all theory and speculation since we’re ALL just assuming how this is going to work rather than just waiting a whole day and a half to check it all out firsthand.

  • I could have sworn Ingame XMB and Trophies were heavily rumored to be coming this month.

Home this year, Killzone only delayed so it and resistance 2 would not canabalize each others sales.

I could have sworn Sony would send out specialist to developers to help those who are struggling, and the Edge tools were there to help bring development along.

Oh but to hell with that, I’m whining about Qore before we even get to experience it.

They guy who said todays gamers are spoiled crybabies was dead on.

  • I would gladly pay $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes! Thank you PlayStation this is like a gift!

  • So why are people expected to pay for advertisements?

Interviews, Previews, Demos etc. are all advertisements to sell the product. Its like expecting people to pay for food taste tests.

    Don’t stoop to Microsofts level.

  • Did you forget you don’t have to pay for it.

  • Sony, you want to make this work? Give the first month free so everyone can get a taste for what this service provides. Since this is a first in the industry, most people won’t know how good it is until they sample it, why not provide them with the means?

  • everyone here needs to get over themselves. seriously. Qore sounds awesome and I’m gonna buy this weeks episode just to give it a test run. can’t go wrong with 2.99. if i like it i’ll buy into the service. if not ill wait for some feedback on here. simple as that. they’re offering it as a promotion for there products and its purely optional. they’re not forcing it down any of your guys throats. thanks Sony.

    peace,
    Lh

  • This sounds great. Now show me the playstation network cards so i can download this on day 1.

  • I’ll buy single issues that interest me. Like anything related Force Unleashed or Bioshock, but I’m gonna stay away from the subscriptions. Cool service. I hope it takes off.

  • I’m with Gibb, I’m not into committing to anything.

I will get this first one as a test run, if I don’t like it, I wont buy another unless it has like Killzone 2 in it :D

  • While I think “qore” (whoever thought of that name should be fired) is a unique and interesting idea, there is no way I’m paying for demos. The exclusive video content I’m fine with paying for, but not a demo. I believe there will be a major lash back if you start making people pay for demos.

Also WHERE ARE THE PLAYSTATION CARDS? I can’t buy anything from the store, including this “qore”. They were promised for this spring, spring is over in 3 weeks. Don’t you want my money?

  • DevilHunterDante

This is good but how are us that dont have credit cards supposed to pay? I’ve been waiting for the PSN cards for a while….

  • badger… i bought the ps3 on the first day it was released and yes i didn’t sell it on ebay. i was probably the only one who kept his system because i really believe in SONY. Killzone 2 was delayed many times as well as HOME. its true the final delay was because of Resistance but Killzone 2 should already be out. also keep in mind we are only getting the beta of HOME this year. i lost count on how many times its been delayed. you may also want to read up on how many times little big planet was delayed. yes, SONY is sending help to developers but we are now in the 2nd year of the ps3 being out. on top of that, ALONE IN THE DARK is delayed… Metal Gear was delayed… HAZE was delayed and GTA IV was delayed because of the PS3. i paid good money for a system that is suppose to have better graphics than the xbox 360 but why are we still getting glitched ports and why are developers working to get ps3 versions up to the standard of the 360? i just feel these things should already be fixed. sorry if i can’t get excited about an interactive magazine. i run my own business and if i don’t handle my customers current problems than why would i focus a fraction of my energy on something else.

  • oh and to the guy who said today’s gamers are “spoiled” needs to stick to his Atari. technology has come so far that it has raised the bar and set new standards. in my day, we had to walk 100 miles in the snow but now there is this whole transportation thing. crazy metal things on wheels. kids are so spoiled.

  • After reading this blog… I think I died a little inside. =(

Truth is, $25/year is $5 more than my subscription to PSM/OPM. At least with print mags: I can take them on the go, I can read them in the bathroom, at work, in the car (for those traffic jams), down to the beach, and can even kill flies with it. I also collect computing/gaming mags… I suppose the thing with this is: the price point is too steep. Maybe $10-$12 a year but no more. I’m sorry, but maybe I expected a little more from Sony and the free model of the PSN and expected that this kind of thing would be either free or more cheap for being digital. I’m 38 years old, and my money means too much to me to throw away 3 bucks for something that will vaporize within a month.

    No deal for me.

  • I would gladly pay $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes! Thank you PlayStation this is like a gift! To all the people complaining get a job and stop whining $24.99 is basically a gift!

  • Not happy! Having to pay for content that was free. I don’t want to pay for demos or betas. If I would have known this I would have purchased and XBOX. A very sad day!!!!

  • ATALAVERA… you are a corporations wet dream. i have some property i would like to sell you. please call me.

  • Kinda OT, but is Sony thinking of releasing their own web browser — for the PC? Im not sure exactly what’s going on with the PS3 web browser but if it is possible could it be making its way to the PC. Hopefully then it would get some more plug-in support.

  • Stop this now! there going to take away what we’re supposed to get for the PSN and put it on here for charge! They say were getting all new exclusives, well what that really is, is just stuff we were going to get but they decided to make us pay for it and see how far they can push it! Do not go for this scam theyre pulling.

  • We were getting demos for free, now well have to pay to “get a magazine” just to get them!

  • They say exclusive “making-of/Behind the sceens” WE ALREADY GOT THAT IN PSN!!! PLUS theyre gonna be on youtube the very next day

  • i agree. take the current stuff and package it in a different way and charge money for it. its actually brilliant because most of you are defending it. i guess it works for Microsoft.

  • “special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.”
DONT WE ALREADY GET THAT NOW!?!?!?!?!

  • “Blu-ray Disc trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme”
If U cant see whats happening you really need to stop & think about this!

W2GO Sony you guys are genuises

  • Wasn’t one of the big selling points of PS3 “Free Online”
well i guess we still got GTA…oh wait…

  • If you want to know what’s wrong with the PS3 this post says it all.

This should be free. Why? Because right now there is little evidence of Sony being part of a gaming community.

Where is the integration in the XMB and the PSN between players, developers and Sony? You can’t even read this blog properly in the PS3 browser because Flash hasn’t been updated since it was released.

Sony should be talking directly to the gamers through the PSN. It should be nurturing a community with direct communication. If Major Nelson can be bothered to add a small free podcast to Live for free then why can’t we have something at the PSN for free? Free for all users, to get all users involved. There is little sense of Sony caring about community relations outside of this blog.

This was a perfect opportunity for Sony to start directly talking to gamers and making them feel that the PSN was something special. It should have been a free show every week running for about 15 minutes. Letting PS3 users inside the PS3 world, putting faces on the talent involved and allowing gamers to relate to industry gamers. Making a community. Everyone on the 360 knows the name of Major Nelson. The same should be true for the Playstation but it isn’t. It just makes Sony seem intentionally aloof and out of touch from the audience.

The information board is useless. It’s too slow and by the time the tiny amount of news hits it you already know. It’s an impersonal system that’s just an RSS reader. Qore will be the same. It will be exclusive for an hour or two then the news will be just as redundant as sites like Kotaku and Joystiq report on it and Qore hits YouTube.

So yes, it will be just like a magazine. Outdated as soon as it’s released.

  • Impossibilium
Well said, another valid point. Sony should really put a stop to this nonsense and talk to us directly and NOT make us pay for that.

  • thank you impossibilium! you said it perfectly but according to the other bloggers you are gamer and SONY shouldn’t listen to gamers because we are whiners and do nothing but complain.

  • So whats next we gotta pay for PlayStation Home and the Video Download Service too?

I do agree with on thing you guys said, you are very dedicatad… in Screwing your loyal fans and customers

  • “I just can’t justify paying for what amounts to, in reality, advertising to get me the buy a game.” – Darlaten

  • “things should have changed for the better, and they were…for a while at least!” – NorisWolfwood

  • “they are just making us pay for something that we would get for free now there is nothing new that they are putting on Qore that wouldn’t be in the PSN store and before we really got noooo good updates for psn and the store and now they have good content and they want to put a price tag on it” – Missilewarriorz

  • “all this videos and review are in youtube.. youtube is free service, why pay for this en Qore” – Darkus

  • You should put the Betas on the PSN and charge per one of those not take away from what we already have, Dont be XBL, you guys are better than that, arent you?

  • “HAHAHA you’re buying it to support Sony?!?!? Sony doesn’t even know you exist, you’re just another drop in the bucket” – XtremeViolence.
    Too bad he speaks truth.

  • Looks like a cool idea. It’s like one of those Demo discs you would get in a magazine but in digital format. Looking foward to Thursday to check it out.

  • Yeah thundershruck, exept weve had those on PSN for over a year now. AND with this we gotta pay

  • “Im dreading the day we have to pay for online. Thats 50% of the reason why I got the PS3” – McMasterJ.

Well McMaster looks like your outta luck, cause that day is just around the corner.

  • Yes PSN is still getting content, and Qore is getting exclusive content that PSN will not have.

All of that exclusive content would be in the PSN, if there was no Qore. We’ll be payin extra for the stuff that we should’ve got free.

    Exclusive content:

“special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.”

“as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme”

So what could of been in PSN that will be in Qore instead include Demos, Add-ons, Themes, Blu-ray trailers, that will never hit PSN

Ok i have read it, and i know whats going on, so think about it before you post.

    FTW AGAINST QORE!!!

  • SonofUgly, isn’t it bedtime for you or something? I think you’ve spammed this blog enough already.

I don’t understand what this has to do with PSN. I’m sure the rest of PSN is free, just not this service. And you don’t even have to pay for this so I don’t get what’s the big deal.

  • If anyone wants to read an interactive magazine for free then try Gamerzines.

    http://www.gamerzines.com/p3zine/

All the fun of clicking on pages, clips and ads without the subscription fee.

  • “danm you qore. Now we might have to pay for psn because sony got inspired. GEEZ. Xbox charges because of the same excact thing. Maybe they will put home in quore the **bleep**. If psn starts charging. Sony your next to microsoft and im selling my console” – Aliokatan
