Hello everybody – I’m the SCEA Producer for wipEout PULSE on the PSP. I just wanted to give you a quick update on what’s currently happening with the franchise from the very talented SCEE Liverpool wipEout team.

I want you guys and gals out there to know that this will be the biggest installment of the wipEout franchise to be released to date on the PSP.

There are some screenshots below that I’d like you all to see, it will be interesting to know what your thoughts are.

We plan on having a specific website available that will allow everyone world-wide to have access to in order to get different information regarding the different tracks that are available. Also, we will have a unique ship customization tool that will be available for the first time in the wipEout franchise on the PSP. Players will be able to design their own skins, logos and basically give their ship its own unique identity.

We’re currently in some of the final stages of development, and I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to update you all with regards to some more of the cool features that will be available, and also news on the 8-player Infrastructure Mode.

  • nice :) do want now !!! ;)

  • Daimion are you a UFC fan or do you look like Rampaging Jackson AKA the gamer’s comedian and UFC fighter.

  • Ok I wan’t this game!

BTW any word on if the fallowing games will come out on the PS3/PSP as PlayStation only games:

Jack & Daxter: Another new adventure on the PSP, and a stand alone game on the PS3!

Jumping Flash: A squal please! For the PS3 only.

Gex the Geko: For both the PSP, and PS3 please!

  • News on the PS3 version? I mean I havent heard any…it is being released on the PS3 right?
    :)

  • Yes it is he just said they have some new on Wipeout HD for the PS3 in their next update. I hope both games can play togather over PSN, and get the PSP, and PS3 even closer togather with the use of remote play, as well as online updates for both games and new featuers!

BTW will Wipeout Pulse have PSP headset support? Will it support Remote play with the PS3?

    Please answer these questions!

  • This look sreally nice, but I would love a Wipeout with HD graphics on the PS3.

  • I TOTALLY agree with what HotRod says about the Wipeout series. I have been playing the games since its first incarnation on the PS1 and it was such an amazing experience back then. The various points made by HotRod are spot on regarding the series and why the originals were so good. The gritty, industrial look of a lot of the tracks were awesome. I especially agree with the bit about the music, the Cold Storage tracks from the original were superb (Messij and Doh-T I seem to remember they were called) and Firestarter is still the most perfect music/game combination I have ever experienced.

It’s not all negative, I think some of the modern Wipeout designs are brilliant. I loved the sudden drops in Fusion and the tracks up in the sky in Pure. I’m still a massive Wipeout fan, I adored Pure and had lots of fun with Fusion.

    Anyway,

  • The game looks like it’s coming along quite nicely. I think it would be a really cool idea if wipEout PULSE was compatible with Wipeout HD so that you can do certain cool things like bring over a vehicle that you use from the PSP game to the PS3 game, and vice versa.

  • You guys aren’t making F1 games anymore I assume… can someone please confirm.

PS: Thanks for the F1 Championship Edition FFB update

  • Hmm, why was my love moderated?

  • Hey all,

It’s been really interesting to read the comments that you’ve been making here. I really appreciate the feedback that you’ve given.

I thought I’d take this opportunity to give you a date that you can put in your calendars. The US release date for Pulse is February 12th 08.

I’ve read a few comments about people wanting downloadable versions of games. I understand the need for this, but there are also a lot of consumers that don’t have a 1 or 2 GM memory sticks, not to mention that a lot of gamers including myself like to have the manual and packaging when purchasing a title. Still I’m sure there will be more downloadable content available on the PSP going forward.

Hmm, I am indeed a UFC fan and of course due to my avatar, I’m a huge Rampage fan, in fact I’m looking forward to seeing him fighting again.. As to whether I look like Rampage, hmm maybe slightly, but only when dates on my products start to slip!.. anyway I digressed a little there..

For everyone that is asking about Wipeout HD, all I’ll say for now is that this WILL be coming for the PS3 and that you should watch this space.

So… back to Pulse, this will have 8 player infrastructure and ad-hoc modes available, and we’re planning to allow players to play against each other worldwide. The ship customization basically allows you to edit the skin that’s there, we’ve had some artists come up with some pretty amazing designs, so it will be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

Anyway, I’ll holla at you all soon and will answer a few more questions/comments

    Later

  • I can’t wait until this comes out!!!

8 player infrastructure with players worldwide!! That will be so cool.

Will the ship customization allow us to upload our own images? I would be cool if I could make a Sonic the Hedgehog themed ship.

  • @ Daimion Pinnock
Yo Daimion dose Wipeout HD supports the vibration & PLAYSTATION eye & the remote play.

  • TrueGameHeadz BlogHeadz » SCEE Gives us a HeadzUp

[…] LiverPool .. my favorite developers across the pond, gives us the 411 that WipeOut Pulse is getting ready to be one the biggest WipeOut games to hit the franchise. […]

  • Thanks for giving us the release date. Now I know when to expect it. Feb. 12 2008! That’s almost right around the corner.

  • I think there could be a solution to the limited mem stick storage for downloadable games on PSP.

Atleast for those that own a PS3. Sony can add the feature to have your downloadable PSP games stored on the PS3’s HDD. You will be able to copy a particular game you want to play on your PSP from yoru PS3.

The PS3 will have a special area in XMB dedicated specifically for PSP content, game saves and downloadable games.

Oh btw except from Wipeout HD are you planning to create a fully fledged Wipeout released on disk for the PS3?

Wipeout HD I guess wont be taking fully the advandages and potential of the console due to the fact that it is downloadable and if the game is too large it will be a pain in the ass to download.

  • thanks for the comments Daimion Pinnock, I have a doubt or sujerence for wipeout pulse, like for fans one of best wipeout, was wip3out SE, impressive, a detail that I like much is his internal Vision of cabin as I show in this screenshot,

in wipeout enjoyment of this camera? PLISSSSS! serious an impressive detail, and one of the only things that lack in this excellent one I title that the maximum quality grazes.

many we preferred umd original with its box and instructions as it comments pinnok, this game is for having it in the bookcase.

thank you very much by the answer I hope can respond, and telling the hours to me for wipeout pulse and to create good designs GREAT DETAIL. I LOVE Daimion! from spain.

edit, a doubt, will put in the official site comunity forums? for pulse users.

    Thanks and a greeting.
