I honestly don’t think they would region-lock demos… they’ve surely abolished it for proper games, don’t see any reason to control demos which are after all, free. Btw, I read somewhere that accessing the American store from outside North America is a gross violation of SCEA PSN User Agreements, so err… don’t think we can actually complain even if they did block us out – but that would be cruel huh?
I can’t even access the store, it says down for maintenance. Well, hopefully will try to download Uncharted tomorrow… some of you will get definite answers by then. Hehe.

I’m living in France and the game is also released here. So I can imagine the full game will be in french (on our side of the world). I can’t imagine that this game will only be in EN in the whole world.

Yeah, true, but I consider the US Store being a violation against EU Store. Because the US store is much better than the EU one. So if Sony wants to keep ppl from dl’ing from the US store they better update the EU store at the same rate.
It would make the US store faster also since no EU gamers would jam it.

Did anybody notice that you can now watch a trailer without downloading it. it gives you the option when you click the trailer. it’s great.
Great demo, and being a US PS3 owner, I know I can play it. Might be nice to mention on the store that it’s region locked though.
By the way, here it is THREE WEEKS LATER, and still zero PS-EYE games. Why does Europe get these exclusively?

im not gonna [DELETED] about the uncharted demo, cus like sum1 said earlier its a “gross violation” for us to invade and crash your u.s store, but an official response or perhaps a bit of advanced warning wouldve been nice to save me spending all day looking forward to the store update. on the plus side nice 1 sony for actually releasing decent demos on the regs, im sure we’ll have it soon enough, and does ne1 know if the actual blu-ray disc itself will be region locked?
You guys (and by “guys” I mean Europeans) are acting like this was done intentionally.
“Region Locked” implies that it was a conscious decision. If it was they’d IP restrict totally.

Quit whining about something that’s:
#1 NOT intended for your region in the first place
#2 looks, by all counts of rational thought and reason, to not have been intentional (why would SCE”A” test to make sure it works on SCE”E” consoles anyway?)

It’s great that Sony has a highly anticipated exclusive demo available, but there is no excuse for these terrible download speeds and disconnects (or failure to even load the store).
I have never had a slow demo download on 360 regardless of how popular it was. I would gladly pay Sony $50 per year if they could manage peak activity periods better.

then why is it downloadable? why has every other PS store demo been playable [bar def jam], regardless what store it’s from? I downloaded timeshift a few days ago, and even though it sucked, it worked. Hot Shots Golf worked. R&C worked. what’s so different about this?
This is 2007. there is no good reason to make people wait for a demo which they are able to play.

It’s obvious that the competition is now “afraid” of the PS3. Firstly, we have developer Infinity Ward admit that developing for the PS3 was easy….add to that most people who own multiple consoles have confirmed that the PS3 version of the game is superior to competition’s version, saying that the PS3 version has better lighting and sharper graphics as well as better texturing. Secondly, we have this rumor out of nowhere that PS3 40gig SKU’s are having a 40% failure rate that Kaz himself along with others in the company had to publicly refute. Thirdly, In the review of Call of Duty 4, it is mostly being played and displayed from the PS3 rather than the competition’s inferior console. In the written review, the Gamespot editor recognizes that there are differences between our version and the competition’s and then says, the differences between both consoles is “neglichable”. And then he downplays the difference in our version of the game by saying, “you’d be hardpressed to find differnces in the PS3 version over it’s inferior counterpart. Give me a break! He is clearly trying to negate or neglect that the PS3 computer entertainment system’s verison of the game is superior to it’s signifcant other. Thirdly, UT3 has been praised by the developer as being the “ultimate” experience on the PS3 computer entertainment system, yet Gamespot posts an article to make the company seem false on promises. Enough on Gamespot, they work for the competition, and if this doesn’t prove it, I don’t know what will. The developer have also said that they are testing the game and if all goes well it could see release sometime in December.
Fourthly, Kaz reported that he was not pleased with Home and that he wanted it to be as he said, “to our heart’s content” Sony is, has, and always will be the damn best in the level of quality in consumer electronics. Fifthly, PS3 is and will be an enormous achievement from parent company SONY Corporation funding and backing games division SONY Computer Entertainment. There are no worries anymore. I love our consumers as you do, but sometimes they can be really stupid in the things that they say and spread about the company. Kaz, you were 100% correct when you said on the launch of the PS3 that it was the greatest day of your life. Though the system was never scheduled or even prepped for the year 2006, it still was launced despite our hand being “forced” by the competition. Most consumers aren’t even aware of “why” the PS3 had such a highly scrutinized start on the market. But I can say confidently, I know exactly why. Now that you guys have worked out the bugs and frustrations on putting out the PS3 which was very premature in its birth, let’s show the world why this machine is indeed the “future”. Finally, it is official, the Playstation brand is back in business and our competitors are “scrambling” to get whatever information, software, news, etc to counter attack us. As I said before, you show ‘em why this company is the most successful console maker in the history of this business. Games are finally now, looking and running better on our hardware. Keep up the promotion, and continually educate premature consumers on blu-ray high definition technology and its advantages over the competition. Lastly, Kaz, relax, this is the beginning of the PS3’s successful reign atop the market as the industry’s leading computer entertainment system.

Yeah, but why can’t Sony just accept that in this day and age there SHOULDN’T be demos for one region only – we shouldn’t have to fiddle about making US PSN accounts to get a f**king demo – it should be available to everyone at the same time to avoid pissing people off. It has been officially acknowledged that the region locking was intentional. Varying release dates were cited as the reason for this.

When Games were region locked, I chipped my PS2 and imported. Was this illegal? No, not according a the Australian Government that saw region restrictions as a threat to consumer rights and fair trade.
Sony may have different release regions, but they shouldn’t. It’s a global society. The Playstation3 is a global brand. There should be a single global store (with local mirrors for each region). Until this is a reality, we will complain both here and on SCEE sites, as this is a global problem.

Exactly. PC games often have slightly different release dates in the US and EU, but the demos are (obviously) available to everyone at the same time – this has never affected their sales, so why the [DELETED] do Sony think people in the EU getting the demo at the same time as the US, even though the game is out later is a problem? Chances are we’ll all import the [DELETED] game anyway, because we can’t be bothered to wait for thier [DELETED] release schedule. Except now I’m seriously considering boycotting the game altogether…

I know that this may be hard for some of you, but take a moment to think about this:
– The store is cluttered enough as it is. Do you really want MORE clutter from every single region?
– Do you want more delays just so a game / video / demo can have every single language for every territory ready for it before it’s released?
– Did you not know that different countries have different rating boards and ratings are not universal?
– Do we NEED every single piece of content from every single region?
– Isn’t it better to have things come out with a solid push so that everyone knows about these things for their own territory? Tastes and culture vary in every region. To expect everything to have the same marketing push leads to disasters like Okami – brilliant game but without the proper push it should have received to reach the audience it deserved.

resistance is awesome, and motorstorm is good (like warhawk), although i just sold my copy cos its not great. and they are both launch titles. Im more talking about the games since launch. I completed HS then sold it cos it has no replay value. I cant comment on everyday cos I declined to buy it. Sstardust is my most played game at the moment (pretty sad). folklore played the demo, dont like it. EOJ got mediocre reveiews. You forgot to mention streetfighter puzzle. why buy a ps3 to play games you can play on a cheaper x360 is the exclusive titles that difine the ps3 and imho it only has 3 games worth buying the machine for. Thats not really good enough.
Solace: An accident? so, someone “forgot” to make it compatible with european PS3’s, yet every other demo which has been released on the PSN Store, despite not being meant to be played anywhere outside the US, is. there is no difference between the US and EU consoles which should make you have to test each game to make sure it works. we can import games from the US – do you think they’ve been tested for EU consoles? no, but they still work.
Stop attempting to rationalize their [DELETED]. the way they treat europe is disgraceful and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Is it just me, or is the Playstation Network been offline all evening? Ever since I downloaded the 2.00 update, I haven’t been able to log in to the PSN at all.

I am happy to see the GH3 songs came out on PSN too and not just stay on Xbox Live. I want the same thing to happen to Rock Band. I can’t wait to pick up that game and if only the 360 would be able to get downloadable songs that would suck. But seeing as the PS3 also got the songs for GH3 I have no worry that the same will happen for that game too.
Why are you asking Canadians to pay a dollar premium for the MotorStorm DL content???? If you can reach parity with the console itself there is no reason to continue fleecing us on the store.
I bet if the tables were turned and our dollar was dropping you would have raised the prices immediately!
