The fact that we’re even talking about E3 in July rather than in May illustrates one of the many changes to the annual gaming blowout. This year’s expo was more exclusive than ever and a big departure from the E3 events of years past. That meant fewer throbbing lights and screaming gamers, and even fewer non-industry insiders in attendance. But that doesn’t mean we’re not looking out for you. In fact, we gave 50 Gamer Advisory Panel members the opportunity to attend the SCEA E3 Press Event on July 11. Better still, we have two G.A.P. members, Trina Schwimmer and Colin Bennett, on the inside attending further E3 events. They’re reporting back with all the eagle-eyed observations and candor you need to get the gamer’s-eye view.

I am having a lot of trouble setting up my internet connection on the PS3. Is it because of my router? I have a Linky’s WRT54G, and I really don’t know if its the router itself.

It is the router Linky’s make a bunch of really crappy routers.Go to CheatCC.com and ask around the ps3 section for help on fixing this problem.

Hey! Yeah I got the exact same kind of router you got, and I know your frustration in this matter.
What I was told the problem lies in the “Seach for Media Servers” option on the PS3. Because your router and the PS3 has different protocols(computer language) the connection will automatically crash.
I fixed it by going into the router settings and dissabled the UPnP. Can’t remember off hand what section but I’m thinking its under gaming. Next, go to your PS3. For your connection information you can pretty much pick the option automatic for everything “except” when you come to the option for UPnP, in which case you would pick disable. Save your settings, and turn off the PS3 for 2-3 minutes and should be good to go. Only problem you won’t be able to use the Media Server option but you can go to the Playstation Store, online game and all that other good stuff. Hope this helps you.
first off nice job at E3 looks like it is going to be an awesome time to have a ps3 this fall cannot wait for some of the games to come out
but it would be great to get some demos on the kick ass games on the psn

Well, I’ve never seen a working PS2 emulator… Even if you’re telling the truth (what do you mean you had to “rewrite” some of the plugins to get them to work??) those hackers are NOT Sony… The EE free PS3s have 88% BC in Europe… That’s the model we have to look at, not what some hackers can do on the PC.
If you think it makes me a fool to not try to “rewrite” my own plugins and upgrade to a 3000 dollar computer just to play some PS2 games I can just as easily play on my, *gasp*, 120 dollar PS2, you’re still full of crap. It doesn’t matter what the hackers can do… It matters what Sony does… Sony’s team does it for money, the hackers do it for fame and for machismo…
Here’s how this debacle will be fixed:
1. Sony programmers get BC on non-EE systems up to par with EE systems. That’s 99.5+% and they need to do it by Christmas.
2. Sony releases a non-bundled pack for 500 dollars or less.

Is sony actaully addressin the 1080 i issue. okay even if there is nothing that can be done about thre launch games, is Sony addressing the issue with upcoming games so i can play ratchet and clank for example, and Uncharted, lair all the new games coming out in 1080i. Its becoming a concern for me and i dont really want to think about the idea that my 2300 tv which i bought over a year and half ago is worthless. Sony please address this issue…. Apprehensive owner
Does anybody knows if RockStar is taking full advantage of the BluRay disc? Rumor is that, 360 is having issues squeezing all that data on a 9gb DVD.

You know, you have to lose money sometimes to make money.
Internet companies usually lose money the first years and hope to make profit the next year/s.
I don’t know how much money Sony is losing on each PS3 but come on. Think of the future.
I know you guys probably have the plans for the next 3 years probably already done but you need to stand up.
The problem (like I said in other post) is that your communication lately sucks. Between you an between us. We want to hear something.
Also, you don’t have to give us EVERYTHING in one package like you guys seem to like to do. I am talking about bundles and I am talking about firmware updates.
Give us something little every couple of days. Instead f having 4 trailers on one day and then 0 for the next 2 weeks, I prefer to have 1 trailer every 3 days or something like that. I gives the impression that you are actually doing something instead of get some “trailer package” like those from MBL every now and then and then publishing it.
Also, you guys did not answer any of our questions.
If you like the feedback, give us something back. Otherwise, deactivate the comments cause is worthless.

The Ps3 is not too expensive. Xbox sell their console cheap, then charge you extra for the off button. My brother has one and has spent more “trying” to bring a 360 upto the spec of a ps3- stuff like HD-DVD drive wireless headset & adapter. Not to mention his monthly subscription to play games he already bought on-line.
Yeah. It is like the 360 is more appealing for quick buys but after that, if you want to do something else, then you have to put a lot of money.
Also, I have heard that attach ratio at 360 is already too big so that is so nice.
What is hitting the PS3 is the things that most people think that they will never use. Those things are the kinds of things that will make the PS3 last 10 years.
But the problem is that “regular” people/gamer/buyers can not see that.
They see the big thing that is the price.
Not true people are starting to realise that 720p/1080i is not true HD for example. and you cant get many full length HD movies on 20gb HDD. Hence the new Xbox Elite.
Well, I know that 20GB is not enough, but it would help to lower the cost of the PS3.
If you want HD movies then you could also add another disk later.

by the way, LittleBigPlanet, plz tell me more! i want to help in the beta (if there will be one) because its THE #1 game for the ps3, also i suggest:
1. high scores, who can get through a level quicker? sponge takes off a few seconds?
2. options, allow “personal” and “level” sacboy selection (for those want a mortal kombat themed level, like me lol)
3. maybe certain background level choosing? i like the backgrounds, but i need metalic glossy backgrounds.
4. you always need color swapping options, for everything
5. have stickers options to transparent, neo, contrast, ect.
6. upload sacboys too! lol
7. (best for home) have your sacboy as a pet in home! lol sooo want that!
8. themed planets for levels,
9. history: what levels you been in, how much sponge you have goten, ppl meet, ect.
10. maybe a few little obstacles? (fire, makes sacboy automaticly jump away in pain, use a trick to get water on it)

I was asking because I dont need anything but the hardware. Everything that I have read talks about the bundles.

Some people may already own “Daxter”, “Family Guy: Freakin’ Sweet Collection”, and Memory Stick Duo 1GB. I am one of these people. I own “Daxter” UMD, “Family Guy: Feakin’ Sweet Collection” DVD, and a Memory Stick Duo 2GB.
I would like to purchase this newer model PSP. However, I do not have $200 right now. Also, I would not like to purchase a bundle when I already own everything in the bundle except the PSP itself.
Please Sony, could you continue to sell the value pack PSPs AS WELL AS the newer PSP BY ITSELF?
I would greatly appreciate that.

Another question about the new PSP.
I have seen in the conference that the guy who presented the ability to see your PSP screen on the TV connected the cable to (what it seems) the connector for the headset.
Does this mean that owners of the “regular” PSP will be able to do this with a Firmware update?
I own one and that feature is sweet.
I think I read somewhere that the PSP and its 3 colors would be sold by itself but the Vader and Daxter bundle would be another option.

I hope they make it an option. I bought my PSP when it was 299.99 which came with the 1GB memory stick and all the other accessories. It would be really nice to buy the new colors at the same price to core model is at right now. My pick would be between the silver and white one. But the all piano black wouldn’t be a bad idea either, considering that it goes well next to the PS3. This is something Sony needs to take into consideration.

the link above is where I got that information about the PSP, its nothing solid but sounds like they are giving you the option of the hardware itself or the entertainment bundle. Either way i’m looking forward to upgrading my PSP cuz its looking horrible with a huge scratch on the screen,nothing that interrupts gameplay but I like all my gadgets to be SHINY! Nice link. When you look in that list, I truly think PS3 has the best exclusives so far.
The only ones that I care are BioShock that looks nice and fable 2 since I loved Fable (Yes, I am a former Xbox user) and I really miss the combat mechanism.
I know I’ve said this in another post of mine, but Sony should just leaving the bundling options to the retailers. Like for example, Walmart has a bundle online for a PS3 that brings the blu-ray playback controller for the original price of $499. And then you have the 5 free blu-ray movies that you get through the mail when you order or get the PS3. Then again Sony, place the price of both the PS3 and PSP at the lowest price you could go with without bundling stuff with it to make it more expensive….

They are timing the levels, your time goes automatically to that level’s leader board.
Basically you can put a (start) tag and an (end) tag at any point in the level, better yet you can put the (end) tag on a moving object, so you could potentially be chasing the (end) trough the level.
They talked about it in the 1up podcast.

yeah i totally agree with you on that. I think it’d save alot of headaches and blame from Sony to let retailers deal with the bundles.

I think that Splinter Cell Conviction and Lost Odyssey are the ones that I’d miss…but then again Fallout3 is multiplatform and we got MGS4 :)

Dear Sony,
a lot of users seem to be confused about the fact that the PS3 only has Adobe Flash v7 instead of v9. I know this is ebcause Adobe only licenses v7, but obviously me telling users isn’t good enough for them.
It would be really helpful if you could just make a blog post or an announcement or whatever you please to make it publically known so I can refer the idiots to what Sony officially says.

The typical “piano black,” which is a term they used that I never really considered. I always felt that the black was a great color for the PSP. It looked high-tech and sophisticated. But if black is not your thing, you can get it in “ice silver” in the Daxter™ PSP Entertainment pack. But the one I’m probably getting is the “ceramic white” Star Wars® Battlefront™ PSP Entertainment pack. Which has an awesome Darth Vader silk screen on it.
