Hi everyone. I’m Felice Standifer, Sr. US Producer for MotorStorm. I understand everyone is rarin’ to go with the MotorStorm updates and believe me, we are too. But right before we were planning to go live with the 1.2 updates with Time Attack mode, a new issue was found on the patch that could result in people not being able to establish a network connection. So, unfortunately, for now we need to continue to run tests and monitor the fix to ensure that it does not occur when the patch goes live. I play Motorstorm religiously and *love* the new Time Attack mode, and I think you will too. Of course, it’s in the best interest for everyone that we resolve this before we release the update. Bear with us, we’ll have it out as quickly as we can and ensure the bug doesn’t cause any problems for future updates. More to come.

I, for one, own an X360 and a Wii. I have not yet gotten a PS3 and that has less to do with the game library and more to do with my own personal financial situation.
I do not believe in console wars and I think most people here who have some semblance of reason realize that having Microsoft, Nintendo AND Sony competing in the same market is a good thing.

Thank you for keeping up informed of the patch. While I was looking forward to the update, I’m not disappointed by the delay. Take the time to get it perfect, I understand that prefection takes time.
cobalt ive read that deleting the game save works and others have just reformatted the PS3 drive then the hassle of downloading all your downloads again begin :(

motorstorm is a sweet game and the time attack mode sounds cool but i think everybody would agree with me that getting new maps or multiplayer lan would be much more exciting.

Any chance that in a future update MotorStorm could get a split-screen patch.
This is the one thing I really want. I would like to play with my friends and family. I really want to see this get added even if it means there has to be less stuff in the levels I would be fine with that.
This is the only reason I still have yet to pick up the game and as soon as it gets added I will go out and buy.
So Sony and Evolution Studios please let a patch allow split-screen and then I will buy this game.

Since the update is out in Europe now, how about here in the US? What’s the holdup now?
ah crap another delay…..im a very patient guy…but damn….why dont you just release the 1.2 and the 1.3 already at the same time instead of making us wait so much….might as well take longer time and release both together. but watever…if it means getting better upgrade then i have no choice but to wait. but i hate to wait.

Hey guys, GOOD JOB on the time trail and online improvements. It feels like a whole new game. Really, being rated 33rd on rockhopper feels great. And the online is acctually fun again. Its acctually a race and not a button masher. Good job again.
after instaling the 1.81 version of ps3 from psn I installed the motorstorm upgrade without being online and now Í can´t even run it on offline mode. Do you have any suggestion?
Oh well better to wait and get the good version rather than a version with a bug

For those having problems with installing the time attack before installing the update – go into game data utility folder and delete the time attack mode update. Then run Motorstorm and go to online mode – then install the update and then you can exit and install the time attack update.
Well, better bug-free than bug infested ^^

Btw, I’d really like to see a custom race mode outside the “tickets” system. It’s hard to find an event I like within the tickets system and when I do find a race that is interesting it gets repetitive. I beat the whole game (all gold) and I’d like to be able to play a map with the vehicle types I’d like (and in the difficulty level I’d like)…
“You guys need to not announce this stuff until you know its a 100% ready to go. I can’t tell you how many people are ticked off with all these PS3 delays. Yes it happens, but the PS3 seems to be plagued with it.”
I’d much rather Sony and their developers let us know what’s coming down the pipe and have delays than have what’s happening on the Wii. My Wii hasn’t been turned on for months, and I don’t see anything in the release schedule this year that’ll make it worth turning on. I don’t even bother looking at the Wii section of my local EB any more. If the rumored PSP Slim comes out, I’ll definitely be trading it in for one.
For those complaining about lack of split-screen, I think it’s probably a LOT harder to implement than you think. Remember, MotorStorm didn’t hit the target render (although, the in-car view looks a lot closer than external view). Putting split screen in could mean they need to drop the quality a few notches. Not saying it’s impossible, just a little more difficult than we imagine. That said, I’d love to see split screen as well. :)
Btw, if anybody else logged on the Aussie PSN just after midnight and installed this update (yes, it was inadvertently released to our store for a few minutes), you remove it and fix MotorStorm. I found it totally screwed up the game and I couldn’t start it at all.
1) Go into the “Manage Game Data” section (not the part for managing saves) and delete the 1.1 update.
2) Reboot your console. First time I tried it, I went straight back into MS and my console locked up.
3. Check the Game Data section and make sure 1.1 is removed .
4. Start MotorStorm and go into Online, this will re-install 1.1.
So….Europe gets it ALREADY and we don’t…. I see…. another delay, another day. Nice to know what’s the problem, but please don’t give out dates til you’re extremely sure of it.
Can I just say… First, how incrediby good it is to see Sony allowing this kind of blog post. I’ve grown so tired of Major Nelson’s droning that seeing honesty has really been a breath of fresh air, and I hope it’s a sign of things to come.
Second, I’d like to thank you for talking about the development process. I don’t know how others feel about it, but I go out of my way to read technical postings; I’m one of those weirdos who always buys the limited edition version of the game when there’s developer commentary; it’s the sole reason I buy limited edition games. (A bit disappointed with the lack of dev coverage in Tomb Raider Anniversary, but God of War 2’s was *brilliant*). I encourage you to not be afraid to post things that are geeky – most of the hardcore gaming audience is fairly tech-savvy when it comes to gaming and are more than happy to read it.
Last, I’d like to thank you for proactively handling things like delays and stuff. It was really good to see this said early, when it didn’t feel like a media reaction – it felt honest.

Born2win buy a new damn TV. It’s your fault your home entertainment technology is outdated. Not Sony’s.
Motorstorm need a ranking system. Let beginners play with beginners, and pros with pros. You’re loosing customers because beginners get online, cannot won one games after 100 races, and never play the game again!!!
Any kind of ranking system based on winning % would be good. Would be so nice to get into a room with 12 racers about as good as you are.
I would buy this game if they released a splitsceen patch. Great game though, I love the online multiplayer portions of it.

I hope that Evolution Studios and other PS3 developers have learned an important lesson from this.
Don’t announce dates until you’re positive you can meet them. I am very upset about the delays, however, if no dates had been announced I would be fine.
I’m glad the update isn’t being released until its ready, but in the future DON’T GET OUR HOPES UP!
I have a US import version of Motorstorm. I am in the UK and can not seem to get this patch to work. Anyone with any thoughts? Or experienced the same problem?

Beware: Users of 1.1 who download Time Attack will end up in a black screen of death; you’ll need to delete Motorstorm’s game data (not the game save – the game data) and reinstall the 1.2 patch, then reinstall Time Attack.
Explain why the US gamers have to wait until Thursdays to get new download content. I feel when it is ready it should be released. If the UK can get 1.2 Motorstorm why can’t we?

nickel-metal: I have the imported US version too, and it also doesn’t work. Since we’re using the US version with US servers we will have to wait for their update. I guess that is the price you pay for saving £10-£20.

When will get confirmation about the release for the US version? It’s out in Europe now, so are we sitting on a Thursday release then? Is it really neccessary to wait until Thursday every week? Can’t you guys just put content up on the store when it’s available. Would be nice to get surprises instead of waiting around for the Thursday update each week. Break with the habit Sony, it’s rather annoying.
