John Sweeney, Art Director at Naughty Dog, shared some background and inspiration behind the design:

“When we first revealed The Last of Us Part II, we had no idea how quickly fans would embrace Ellie’s tattoo. Within a day, we started seeing real-life versions showing up on social media and fans have been sharing photos of their new tattoos with us week after week ever since.

When the opportunity arose to create a custom PS4 Pro for The Last of Us Part II, I worked with our graphic designer at the time, Angel Garcia, and we considered a few different ideas, but we kept coming back to Ellie’s tattoo. By that point, it had become a symbol of the game and for the community–much like the Firefly logo in the first game. It was the clear choice, but we wondered: what if it could be engraved? It hadn’t been done before, so we weren’t sure it was even possible, but thanks to the incredible efforts of the teams at PlayStation, we found a way.

The result is something we feel is really special–a design that honors the passion of our incredible fans and that we ourselves would be proud to own.

We can’t wait for you to see it in person and for you to experience The Last of Us Part II for yourselves!”

Furthermore, we’re also launching a Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset that features a steel black matte colour with dark red interior headset cups – this stylish wireless headset features Ellie’s fern tattoo and the game logo.

  • Nope, I prefer to wait for the PS5.

  • Such a shame this is coming only months before the PlayStation 5 as I would have probably got it.

I still may pick up the 2TB HDD though.

can you guys start being more productive with this stuff and actually linking stores that sell it with the price point? I don’t see why it can’t be done.

    • I keep checking but 24 hours later and the hard drive still isn’t listed anywhere.. is it actually a thing? If so can you guys kindly link me ?

    • update: it’s been 6 days and I still can’t find this HDD + no reply from anyone at the PS Blog. Has anyone else seen it? If so could you link me ?

    • You can’t find it cuz it sold out the first day. I almost got the console but had issues with the website and by the time it got resolved all I could get were the headset and controller, which came in the bundle but could also be purchased separately. The solid slate drive is part of the bundle and wasn’t sold separately. Also this article is inaccurate as this wasn’t a pre-order. since no game was included in this bundle it was a buy now only special. I bought the controller and headset and it came a couple days later. The price for the whole bundle was $400 total, and for console, controller, headset and SSD; all special edition was a badass deal.

    • This specific bundle is sold out but if you want you can buy the special edition ps4 bundle that comes with the game and this special edition console and controller; but not the headset and SSD. that comes out on game day.

  • Very nice. Shame about the timing though. PS5 is just around the corner and myself and many others are trying to save an as yet unknown amount to make that purchase.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who can afford it and a PS5 at launch but that’s not me.

Bet it’s a pain to keep clean too.

  • To the person who needs to read this: It’s your money, not anyone else’s. Buy this bundle if you know you want it.

  • Would be great if you put a link up to where its being sold and for how much :)

    • You expect that much effort on the EU PlayStation blog?

    • Well it will be called the UK PlayStation Blog soon enough, so things will improve

    • mschulze01010111

      What? No it won’t.

    • @msschulze01010111 & @bedhead1 I believe that they’re referring to the fact that the UK will no longer be a part of the EU as of 2021.

    • Don’t worry, the “EU” region in the blog contains most of the planet, like Australia, the middle east, India, parts of south america, Asia, Africa, etc.

So even if one of the most moronic episodes of the last 500 years goes ahead, the region wont change..

    • @mschulze01010111

Yeah it will be. The word EU will start to diminish slowly across every sector of the U.K in 2021. For example New UK Passports no longer have the European Union written on them. Drivers license plates will be next and so forth.

    • Yeh… it’s still going to be the EU blog as it’s referring to Europe. Thankfully we can’t leave Europe as you can’t move a country and we are European ?

  • Prepare to see this on eBay for £1000+ on a website near you.

    • One of my grandfather’s favourite sayings. He still ended up skint though!

I won’t be buying one of these but there are plenty of TLoU fans out there who will be willing to pay over the odds for one of these.

Edit: The comment replied to was deleted for some reason (A fool and his money are soon parted).

    • Hmm, this is no 20th Anniversary PS4 or 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro which are sort after.

    • True but there are some people out there who are huge fans of TLoU and will pay over the odds for one of these.

  • Great colour but I’m kinda put off by those ferns.. sorry a bit girly.. but my wife & daughters love it

  • Looking good, steel black matte is beautiful. The only thing I personally don’t like is the text/title on both the console and touchpad.

  • You can preorder it on NedGame in the Netherlands for those who want it. I prefer to wait for the PS5 than buying a PS4 Pro nowadays.

And for those who wonder what the prices are

    PS4 : €500,-

    Headphone: €109,-

  • I love the designs (although the game’s logo is a touch unnecessary imo). Im interested in the headset as my last pair of golds finally broke at the hinge last night :(

i was just wondering if there is a reason for choosing to release a special edition gold headset instead of a platinum headset?

    • I just want to know if there’s going to be an audio profile for the game.

    • Talking about Headphones. The PS5 better support Bluetooth and wireless Headphones. Especially Sony Headphones, which PS4 does not support, duh.

  • Anyway you could remove the full caps writing from the front of it?

  • So nice of you to have a competition to win it in the US but not Europe. I doubt anyone will buy it anyway with the ps5 coming out soon.

  • I like the simplicity, as I adore the gun-metal grey!

  • GiftedGamer3020

A console with some pattern on it has NEVER convinced me to buy it so this is a fail imo

Additional: And it was deleted. “sigh”

  • How bad would it be if your current PS4 system decided to pop its cloggs before TLOU 2 releases? Especially when PS5 releases this year. Noooooooooooo!

  • Any chance you can let us know who the participating retailers are? I can see a stripped down bundle on Game but not the full one anywhere,

  • Currys are selling this console in the UK for £350, I bought one and It was a smooth process as I don’t think many are buying this console from Curry’s as its a bit uncommon for others to check it.

If your wondering why I bought this a couple months before PS5 will be out its because my PS4 Pro had stopped working a couple weeks ago and I had insurance cover for it so I ended up getting a voucher to buy a new console as they couldn’t repair my broken PS4. Also I may consider reselling this if its worth a LOAD of money but I’m not too keen on that as I love the design so I’d much rather use it for myself. :)
