Ghost of Tsushima out 19th July: Collector’s & Digital Deluxe editions detailed

Watch the new story trailer and feast your eyes on the newly revealed Special, Collector's, and Digital Deluxe editions of the game

Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PS4 on 26th June 19th July! It is so exciting to finally be able to announce our release date, and even better that it’s just a few months away. We can’t wait to share the world we’ve created!

Today we revealed a brand-new trailer that showcases our hero, Jin Sakai. In the past, we’ve shown the world around Jin, but this time we wanted to give you a taste of the people he meets along his journey and the scale of the threat that forces him to transform into a new kind of warrior. While you’ll catch glimpses of several of Jin’s allies and enemies in today’s trailer, there are two we want to focus on in particular.
The first is Jin’s uncle, Shimura, the jito (lord) of Tsushima and a father figure to Jin. He’s trained Jin since childhood in the traditional ways of the samurai, and grows increasingly concerned by the tactics Jin starts to adopt as he abandons his teachings and becomes The Ghost. The second important character we’re highlighting today is Khotun Khan. The Khan is the leader of the invading Mongol army and a ruthless, cunning enemy who uses everything he knows about the samurai to try to destroy them. He’s a brutal, unrelenting adversary that Jin will quickly learn not to underestimate.

Beyond our new trailer, we also have multiple editions of Ghost of Tsushima to reveal today. A pre-order of any edition gets you some bonuses – a Jin avatar, a digital mini soundtrack featuring select songs from the game, and a Jin PS4 dynamic theme based on our box art.
If you want to go fully digital, you can now pre-order Ghost of Tsushima on PlayStation Store. You’ll also find our Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes a digital copy of the game along with the Hero of Tsushima skin set, which provides an additional in-game horse, saddle, mask, sword, and armor set for Jin*.
The Digital Deluxe also includes two in-game items: the Charm of Hachiman’s Favor and one technique point*, as well as a Samurai PS4 dynamic theme. There’s also a digital mini art book by Dark Horse, plus our Director’s Commentary, in which our creative team sits down with a renowned Japanese historian to look at the world of Ghost of Tsushima and how it compares to the real-life events that inspired it.

We also have four physical edition options. There is the Standard Edition, which includes the game on Blu-ray disc. Also available at select retailers* is the Standard Plus Edition, which includes Ghost of Tsushima on Blu-ray disc and artwork featuring a custom print finish.
Then there is our Special Edition, which includes a SteelBook case plus a voucher for an in-game Hero of Tsushima mask and sword skin**, Charm of Hachiman’s Favor, one technique point, the Director’s Commentary, and the digital mini art book.

But the set I am most excited to get my hands on is our Collector’s Edition, which has a replica mask. It’s a re-creation of one you’ll wear in the game, and it’s heavy (made from polyresin). It’s not meant to be worn, but it includes an individually-numbered display stand so you can keep it on a shelf to impress your friends or terrify your enemies.
On top of that, there’s also a sashimono (war banner) just like you’ll see in the game that’s nearly 4.5 feet long, and a traditional-style furoshiki (wrapping cloth). You’ll also get a copy of the game with a SteelBook case, a physical 48-page mini art book by Dark Horse, and an artistic rendition of our full world map printed on cloth. Also included is a voucher for all of the digital content from the Digital Deluxe Edition listed above.

  • Gotta say that it’s extremely disappointing to see that the Special Edition doesn’t include the physical art book, like nearly all of Sony’s past special editions have. Nathan Drake Collection, Uncharted 4, God of War, Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone… the Special Editions all came with the art book. Even FF7 Remake and The Last of Us Part 2 Special Editions are coming with a physical art book. Why is it limited to the expensive Collectors Edition this time?

  • Would you kindly show us actual gameplay?

    • I’m hoping for some actual decent game play from a Sony title.

Hopefully no QTEs and 2 button “cinematic” combat. Oh and no long walking and talking segments and unskippable boring cutscenes.

  • Going to get Tha collectors editions can’t wait ?❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • I have been reading that the biggest competition in games over the next few years will be from Google and Amazon. This will only be possible if they can deliver quality exclusives games that Sony have been currently doing…. Because so far, Sony is so far ahead….. I just can’t see it happening. This game looks amazing… Can’t wait.

  • Woah, nice. Expected September

    • That’s a realistic expectation. I still have my doubts they’ll meet this release date.

      Stay tuned for:

‘An update from Sucker Punch: Ghost of Tsushima comes to PS4 September 2020’

  • I really want to play this, but I would rather hold out for the PS5 version. Newer games just struggle on PS4 now, even the Pro.

  • Can we just applaud Sucker Punch here for giving us a collectors edition the EXACT SAME as the US one. Seriously well done because I’m sick of us in EU/UK getting the short end of the stick, paying more or roughly the same for a CE that has less content in…COUGH COUGH NaughtyDog / The Last of Us Part II COUGH.

However one criticism which I’m so tired to keep seeing from developers, why do you guys always do a Steelbook that has such bland, dark artwork compared to the standard games case? We are paying more money so the Steelbook should blow the standard case of the water, hell even it’s the exact same artwork with a nice gloss finish or something and an exclusive art sleeve. The main cover here could have looked beautiful on a Steelbook and it’ll be so annoying if a retailer exclusive Steelbook (like the Marvel Avengers one or that Amazon Horizon Zero Dawn Steelbook) ends up coming out, looking better then what we get in these editions.

In the future can we PLEASE get some more colourful artwork, something that’s better than the main games case or even if it’s the same just with a nice finish. A lot of Steelbooks these days are grey, black, dark or have a basic image on front like the games logo or a symbol. God of War did this, Spiderman, Nathan Drake Collection, Wipeout HD, Until Dawn, Killzone Shadowfall, Red Dead Redemption II, Kingdom Hearts III, Days Gone, Bioshock Remaster Collection etc

  • Glorious. Cannot wait to get this.

  • Still expecting there to be an element of time travel in the story for this…

Would explain why a guy with an 1800s name has 1550s armor in the 1200s, while armed with 1300/1400s sword worn how people show it in cartoons in the 1990s…

  • Absolutely love Sony’s commitment to Steelbooks for almost all of their first party releases. Love to add them to my collection.

  • Jeez, why not spend your energy on creating the game instead of selling it – long before it’s finished. If it’s good, we WILL buy it, so relax.

    • Of course, it’s a well known fact that a marketing/communication guy is also a programmer working on this game… jeez [DELETED]

  • Awesome when they announced that it will come out on summer i would bet for end of August thankfully they decided to realease it at the end of June. It’s going to be a summer full of awesome games

  • Just want to play the game first and find out if I like it.

  • Beautiful. So glad this is an exclusive, if only so it’s fully tailored to Playstation. Awesome music as well.

  • Cant decide if I like the steelbook or not, black and gold are awesome but with the pattern and then the picture in the middle, not sure. I have alot of steelbook but dont know if I will get this one :)

  • Won’t be buying anymore CEs since So y wants to put games on PC. Canceled TLoU2 CE yesterday. Will just get the standard for both these games.
