Enjoy an incredible month of PS4 titles with Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed survival-action game plus the popular baseball sim

PlayStation Plus members – we have a really big month for the October monthly PS4 games lineup to keep you entertained this autumn. As announced on State of Play, we’re including two major blockbuster hits from Worldwide Studios with The Last of Us Remastered and MLB The Show 19.
Let’s dive right in.

The Last of Us Remastered

In anticipation of the next chapter of Naughty Dog’s epic adventure in The Last of Us Part II, now is your time to jump into in The Last of Us Remastered. Whether you have already played the game and want to relive Joel and Ellie’s epic journey – or experience it for the very first time, The Last of Us Remastered has you covered with both The Last of Us and The Last of Us: Left Behind.
The Last of Us takes place 20 years after a pandemic has radically changed civilisation, where infected humans run wild and survivors are killing each other for food, weapons – whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S.
In The Last of Us: Left Behind, new light is shed on Ellie’s relationship with Riley, her best friend and sometime-mentor from a military boarding school they grew up in together. After disappearing for weeks, Riley returns with a surprising revelation on her whereabouts. Ellie and Riley sneak out of school for the last time, leading to a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.
We hope this epic adventure will keep you entertained right before the sequel hits store shelves. In case you missed it, check out all of the details on The Last of Us Part II that were announced during State of Play. The Last of Us Part II is available now for pre-order, so mark your calendars!

  • Baseballgame in europé boring

    • Well guess what? In America soccer (what you call “football”) is boring. And last time I checked, baseball is highly popular in South America, Caribbean, and Asian nations. The world doesn’t revolve around Europe anymore than it revolves around the Americas or Asia.

    • Hey man, LATAM loves Football (what ONLY you, north americans, call soccer). Take your boring baseball away!!!

    • Oh relax. Baseball is much like cricket in terms of boredom. They’re both garbage “sports”. Football (soccer) is also boring and is just an excuse for overpaid frou frou haircuts in shor shorts to chase eachother and roll around like idiots.

Relax bro. Other than rugby and maybe basketball, all sports are boring.

    • Ntac67, I’m from South America and I can affirm that u r wrong, dude.

    • You might be right, ntac67, but this is the European PlayStation blog so your comments are not very relevent.

Give the Americans baseball and give us Europeans PES.

    • What? Im From Brazil..and we dont play f.. baseball!

    • Ntac67, you’re boring.

    • @ntac67 i get what you are saying… but this is the EU PlayStation region we are talking about, on the EU blog… What the Americans or Asians like is irrelevant. you have your own regions for this discussion.

The world doesn’t revolve around Europe you’re right , but Europe revolves around Europe.

ZERO reason why a different game wasn’t chosen for this region.

    • Did you said that Baseball is more popular than football/soccer in South America? That is the most hilarious thing I ever read in my life, thanks.

    • Doesn’t revolve around America either, yet when PES was announced a few months back the yanks complained and the game was changed, now exactly the same happens with an even more tedious sport and Sony does nothing, apparently Europe doesn’t matter to them.

    • There’s less and less point in getting ps+ anyway

    • rofl what you call “football”…

Yeah.. Cuse it makes so much sense to call a game Football that is played by hand, while the game that is played by the feet is soccer. Geniuses… Keep enjoying that Feet system as well buddy

  • Really bad month imo, while good, TLOU is an old remastered PS3 game that has been very cheap in sales for years! It’s that old the servers are offline on PS3. That should be a bonus game… And MLB are you having a laugh?? I will be very surprised if that doesn’t get changed, most complained at PES and this is 10x worse especially in EU.

    • I saw that and thought it was going to a bonus game when they first announced it but sadly it wasnt. Last of Us Remastered isn’t too bad especially with the new one coming in a few months but really Sony! REALLY! REALLY! You saw the fuss that was kicked up because you put on PES a few months back. Who thought that this would be a good idea to the rest of the world other than the US (and possibly Japan) would get the most out of this. AND, that would be the ones that enjoy base ball…… Last months PSPlus was great! Even though I already owned the games. My plus runs out in January (I know I know I sound like the others on here that say things like this) and I’m seriously debating renewing. I havent paid for plus this year because I bought 2 years previous…. I don’t play online these days so the games are the bonus of the subscription. In fact I hardly play on the PS4 now… Spend more time on my Switch since that is where the games seem to be for me at the moment. Yes I’m waiting on FF7 Remake and not much else really, but thats a single player game that doesnt need Plus….

    • I thoroughly agree. TLOU is a great game and all, but its just way too old and not really something that’s gonna get people excited, considering it was released on ps3 years ago as a playstation exclusive. I’m pretty sure there are only a few people who have somehow not played it by now lol. Overall its a bit of a disappointing month tbh

  • Excited to finally play TLOU after hearing so many great things about it. However I personally think MLB is a bad choice for EU players as I’m sure most of us aren’t very familiar with the sport at all.

  • Maybe you should add a third, lesser well-known game to the monthly Plus lineup? Indie dev exposure or something?

  • Hey everyone, it’s not Jeff from the Overwatch team. Today I’m really excited to announce our October line-up for Playstation Plus. A few people out there havent bought The Last of Us yet, so we wanted to give these guys a treat this month and hopefully they’ll also buy Part II next year.

For the 90% of PS3 and PS4 owners who have already played The Last of Us, don’t worry: we have something special for all of you. It’s BASEBALL!! And we know for sure you haven’t played it yet, cause why would you?

Thanks for all the money guys, and don’t be sad that State of Play sucked, be happy that it’s over! <3

    • Wait what? Even if you include the 100 million PS4 install base, The Last of Us has not sold 90 million units on PS4, nor 78 million units of PS3’s 87 million install base either. And not even close lol.

    • Maybe a few people didn’t play it, but most of us have. And the people who haven’t played it yet are probaly not ver interested. Combined with a baseball game, a sport that isn’t very popular in Europe (to say the last), this month is a big F U to subscribers.

    • while it was just a stupid comment, PS plus members are somewhere around 35 million and a quick search brings up a 2018 article about 17 million copies of TLoU sold across PS3 and PS4, which doesn’t include second hand sales. so let’s just settle at 50%, ok chief?

    • People not having played it yet doesn’t mean they’re not interested in the game. Not everyone plays a game as soon as it comes out, and a lot of adult gamers have very limited free time in which to play games. Especially when some games are 100+ hours long.

    • @andrewsqual he was obviously just exaggerating with the ‘90%’, its called a joke. I hate to do it to you, but you got whooooooshed.

  • Already have tlou but not everyone will and gives those people a chance to play it before the new one and mlb 19 should be fun to play. Far to many moaners about!

    • True as is the case here with the PS Plus lineup post every month but come on. they changed PES a few months back because the US fanbase didn’t want a soccer game. Will the same thing happen for us in EU that don’t want an adorable baseball game as one of the monthly games? Not a chance and that is a serious problem.

  • Baseball game in Europe? PlayStation are you drunk? I’m pretty sure majority of European players don’t care about baseball and don’t now much about it. Also TLoU even though it’s a great game, it’s a PS3 title, most of us already own. Sorry but it’s a really bad month.

  • Don’t think I’ve played a baseball game since they were 2d pixel art with like 8 colours. Will be kinda fun trying it out tbh even though I’m not into baseball. But you just know people are gonna whine about it.

  • Terrible month. Maybe the 8 people that never played TLoU have something positive but MLB in Europe? You walked back PES and now give us Baseball? Words fail me.

  • This is outrageous! You pulled back PES19 and now you add baseball? Nobody in EU cares about baseball!

  • Seriously a baseball game? I already had TLOU on disc but I prefer digital versions so I happy with that…but BASEBALL game in Europe? Im not fan of sports games, but at least You should add (if you have to…) some sport game in which Europeans at least know the rules of.

  • Not surprised about The Last of Us Remastered being PS Plus game for October, but the baseball one is truly one surprise.

And NOT a good one. I have zero interest in the sport. It’s probably one of the most boring sports to watch, and only a small percent of EU actually like baseball.

    Poor show, Sony EU.

    • Agreed. I wouldnt have minded if they at least gave PES instead of MLB, at least people in europe care about football, unlike baseball

  • I hope they will change MLB to something else in Europe. It’s a complete joke.

  • Wow, people weren’t too happy when you put a sports game as a PS Plus game a few months back. But of course, the American PS Nation, that don’t care for soccer, spoke out and it was changed.

So………… are you going to listen to the comments here, that are no doubt going to fill this page over the next 24 hours demanding a US sport, that most EU people don’t care about, to be removed from the monthly lineup? Or are you going to live up to your PlayStation Europe name and completely ignore us yet again?

  • Can we have PES, or anything else, instead of Baseball!?!? Who wants that in Europe?

  • A baseball game and a 5 year old remaster of a 6 year old PS3 game that anyone with any interest in it has already played… *Slow clap*

  • TO  Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe

  • I’m from Europe, what is MLB The Show 19 for sport ????

  • A game everybody already played years ago and a baseball game almost no European is interested in. Congrats, you’ve just topped your PES incident. If you now switched it with PES I think people would be actually happy about it.

Glad my subscription ends soon. Think from now on I’ll focus on owned games and Nintendo stuff.

  • So we get the latest installment of what is widely regarded as the best sports game franchise and what could be the best game of the decade. Yep I can definitely understand where the whining is coming from.

    • The whining is easy to explain. Europeans don’t like baseball.

    • Lmao since when is MLB regarded as the best sports franchise? That is absolute [DELETED]. Oh, and the whining is due to the fact that baseball is rubbish, and TLOU is just too old.

    • Best game of the decade?

You know the difference between watching a playthrough of TLoU and playing it?

You have to sit through repetitive cover shooter sections against the same 2 enemies every hour or so.

  • Can anyone here name 3 MLB players? I can’t name any. Why does PS think people in Europe would want to play a baseball game? What’s next? Curling? Korfball? Speedwalking? Knitting?

  • Since when they only 2 games are given in ps plus I am not satisfied. This month is terrible.

The Last of Us was bought everyone who was a little interested.

    MLB in Europe …

It would be nice to give more games.

  • So ah, when exactly are we going to get anything approaching parity to quality that this service used to offer?

  • repeating it like with PES? put another game instead of MLB!!! i dont mind TLOU

  • I wrote this 4 days ago at State Of Play post : “You could also announce TLOU Remastered for PSPlus October earlier on Tuesday,to increase anticipation and welcome more players into this amazing journey NaughtyDog has offered us!!! ” I am so happy to see more players enjoy this masterpiece!!!! However, that baseball game in EU has to be replaced by another title as we don’t even know the rules of this game…

  • To everyone saying that TLOU has been bought by everyone already. It has sold around 17 million copies according to the latest figures from Naughty Dog (admittedly from last year), there are around 35 million plus subscribers. I think that there is still some wiggle room for people to play this masterpiece of a game.

    • That’s 17 million hard copies. What about second hand and digital? I’m pretty sure if you own a PlayStation you’ve picked this game up quick, or never wanted to play it in the first place.

    • There are always more people who want to play a game who haven’t played it yet. Not everyone plays a game as soon as it comes out or even in the first year. There are about half a dozen games I want to play but can’t due to lack of free time so they’ll have to wait.

  • Can we go down the PES path this time again and replace MLB? Literally not a single European gives a [DELETED] about baseball.

  • Can we go down the PES path again and replace MLB? Does anyone in Europe even actively play this sport?

  • A rounders simulator and a remaster (whilst excellent) very nearly as old as the console itself and featured in more sales than a DFS sofa.

    And both with microtransactions.

    $ony – for the payers.

  • Going against the grain but I’m really pleased with MLB 19… the series consistently gets great reviews and is regarded as one of the best sports games. Not played since MLB 12 so looking forward to it, but I get why others might not feel the same. Also worth noting it was only released 6 months ago… unlike TLOU.

  • Got Last of Us going reply it so nothing for me this month .

  • I’ve looked at buying The Last of Us many times, but been too stubborn to do so. Nice to see that has worked for me lol.

Didn’t think MLB would get a good response. I love the game, but I know most people don’t even understand baseball, and the ones who do (and like it) likely have the game already (like myself), so bad choice of game there.

But including TLOU makes it a good month for me, even if it is only a $20 game.

  • Ah yes, my favourite European pass time, hit small ball with wooden stick and then have other sweaty men chase after it! Thanks Sony, you read my mind! This is precisely what I wanted for Halloween!

  • At least call it by its proper name: ’rounders’

  • Ok you can keep that baseball game. How about giving us Cricket next month while you are at it.

PS Plus has been useless for offline gamers since the release of PS4. Such a shame. I remember getting great PS3 games back in 2012.

  • A baseball game in the EU, you’ll be hard pressed to find 10 people who actually know the rules of the game over here. Really nobody gives a [DELETED] about baseball in Europe, an extremely stupid choice. What’s next Madden NFL.

  • Cool. I’ve been wanting to try MLB The Show for a few years but never wanted to risk the money on a digital purchase in case I don’t get on with it.

No interest in baseball in Europe? Tell that to those who purchased a combined 118,000 tickets to the two London games this year, the first seeing the largest attendance for any single MLB game since 2003. That’s just one city in one country. How can people think they speak for the entire population of Europe?

    • Yes i am int the UK and looking forward to trying MLB. I wish some gamers could be more open minded in what they are willing to play!

    • Bruh, no one cares about baseball in europe, simple as that

    • Your argument doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Or do you contend that the 0.00015% of the population of Europe who attended (assuming that entirely different cohorts attended said games) speak for the rest of us?

How many of the attendees are PS+ subscribers?

Oh and by the way, approximately 50000 Americans live in London, along with around 40000 Japanese people. Et cetera.

    • Those Americans and Japanese living in London aren’t Europeans though. It’s not European culture or sport and most people in Europe aren’t interested. Not all Americans in the US and UK like baseball. As an American living in the UK I loathe it. It’s a dull redneck game that has a World Series where only America participates. Sony should give PS Plus subscribers in the US a cricket game.

    • I didn’t suggest it was anything more than a very small minority, we’re talking about a game that doesn’t even hit .5 million sales and a sport that’s way down the pecking order in its native country with an aging fanbase and declining attendances. But countless people on here complaining and stating, as a matter of fact, that there is no interest in Baseball in Europe is downright ignorance.

Also, you don’t have to be a fan of a sport to enjoy a game. I’ve never watched a full NFL game but have been enjoying Madden with EA Access. I don’t actively kill people in the real world, have never engaged in armed warfare yet enjoy games virtualising those actions.

Try something new people, you might enjoy it! We get indie, people complain, we are also getting one of the greatest games ever made, people complain as a lot of people have played it, we get a highly rated game that hardly anyone has played and people complain. You can’t please everyone.

    • You have missed the point. We were offered a football game but america let out a collective reee and it was changed to suit them. The majority do NOT want any thing to do with an American sport that has small followings everywhere outside of the US and Japan. It’s not that we don’t mind trying different things, it’s that we expect the same treatment from Sony, even if they do view eu subs as bottom of the barrel.

  • Sony make really bad decisions before console generation change. Most likely i’ll buy Xbox for the next gen. Sony must do something REALLY good to change my mind.

  • EUROPE and MLB is a NO GO, SONY.

TLOU PS4 whoever wanted to play, already played it on PS3 and again on PS4….been on sales many times very cheap….

5/10 month. Come on, do better.

  • One great game that almost all PS4 owners have likely bought already and one baseball game that appeals to a very tiny percentage of european PS4 owners. ok

  • Two months ago they tried too pull this crap with PES. Are you completely tone deaf. A [DELETED] baseball game.About a year ago PS+ got a significant price hike. This year they cut two thirds of their PS+ games lineup. [DELETED] Xbox will probably be the better choice in the next gen. 10 Euros a month gets you the awesome Xbox Gamepass over there.

    • If you are going to bring up Xbox, don’t forget that second subscription of Xbox Live Gold to get the most out of it. It’s not only 10 euros a month then. Even if you want to play solo, Sea of Thieves requires Xbox Live Gold to play. And now you know why game pass was born, to claw back lost gold subs lol.

    • Well, the Xbox Game Ultimate Pass includes both Game Pass and Gold, and you save 25% on the bundle. It also includes Game Pass for PC, so I’d say that Microsoft currently have the best offering by far, when it comes to subscription services. Sony could do a bundle with PS Now, but alas, Sony still can’t be bothered to roll out their service to more territories.

  • Only SONY could give a masterpiece game but in the same time make a terrible month…

    Well done SONY!

  • So, you pulled back PES because it was football and now this?!? Now we Europeans would like a swap as well…

  • i had to rewrite this after everyone is saying the same thing, the yanks obviously weren’t happy with a ‘soccer’ game so why would we be happy with a baseball game? Change it to something everyone accepts like you did before

  • Baseball game for EU I could understand Japan and USA but here Sony you losing touch many off us done watch or want to play baseball lady month FIFA was swapped why not give us FIFA and USA and Japan baseball

  • Please swap the baseball game for something we Europeans are familiar with. We kick balls, not hit them with wooden sticks. :-)

    • Cricket would like a word with you.

But yeah, I agree MLB is a poor choice. I’d even have preferred NHL Hockey.

    • Haha, true! :-)

    • Cricket isn’t popular in Europe, outside of the UK. I’ve never heard of a Norwegian cricketer. Not sure we even have a national team.

    • Pretty much any US sport beside Baseball would´ve been fine. NHL, NBA und NFL are all popular leagues to some extend in europe. But baseball is hardly played/ well known outside of the US and Japan (at least afaik). I don´t really get how they thought giving europe this game as well instead of something else (even an indy title would´ve been fine) wouldn´t cause backlash after the whole PES debacle.

  • Is this real? It can’t be. This is hilarious. Sony are aware how good Gamepass is, right? Is this the answer to Devil May Cry 5 and Gears 5 being playable for peanuts? Sony are in trouble. They have sat on their behinds because they are the market leaders but that’s gonna change come January if this nonsense continues.

    • That’s silly. Game pass is 2 years and 3 months old. You have to give more reasons then that. And no, the same old Forza and Gears are not great reasons either when Xbox fans are starving for great exclusive new IPs.

We have no idea yet how much money or damage it did for Capcom to put DMC5 on game pass and they may never bother with such a thing again. The higher ups in Microsoft can only throw so much money at getting games like that on the service. So they got a few more thousand 1 month trial members of game pass when DMC5 went on the service? Big whoop.

    • You dont have an Xbox do you? Game Pass has been amazing for a very long time. Will it last forever? Maybe not. Plus certainly went downhill pretty quick. Its not about how long it lasts, its about what you get for your money right now and right now Xbox has the best service in Game Pass.
