Horizon Chase Turbo

Prepare for a blast of pure ’90s nostalgia with Horizon Chase Turbo, a love-letter to the iconic, just-one-more-go racers of the arcade’s golden age.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Out Run, Top Gear and Rush, developer Aquaris Game Studio captures the essence of the 16-bit era with style, with modern visuals, a thumping soundtrack with insane arpeggios and classic split-screen couch multiplayer.

Play solo or grab up to three friends. You’ll pilot your car through extraordinary places, watching the sun setting, facing rain, snow, volcanic ashes and even severe sandstorms.

Both Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 and Horizon Chase Turbo are available to download from PlayStation Store on 2nd July until 5th August.

In the meantime, you still have a few days left to pick up June’s two PlayStation Plus titles.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is a bumper bundle of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-sequel, featuring hours of first-person looting and shooting, while Sonic Mania is a carefully crafted remix of Sega’s iconic platformer hero, retooled with extra modes, characters and stages.

    • every time there is a game I like in Plus I already bought before, give a try to Horizon, the joke of giving away in July PES when the new game come in 2 months is enough to burn sony headquarters tho

  • This is for the payers!

    • Not it’s for dumb players who don’t complain to Sony in Europe.

    • As opposed to the people who never praise Sony when they are constantly doing great things lol? You see, it works both ways.

    • When was Sony “constantly doing great things” at any point this generation?

They got a headstart because of Microsoft’s stupidity, and were able to slip in forced online costs without too much complaint. Since then they’ve sat around not really doing very much other than promoting crappy VR/Playlink, releasing samey sad third person action games and closing studios.

    • As opposed to what? Look at the absolute state of its main rival. Xbox has been seen as a joke this whole generation, not just the catastrophic failure of their launch. The best thing they done was BC and the game pass, something they pretty much needed to shovel their subpar exclusives into a service for people to play them. Some of them have turned into good game like SoT.

PS has given us multiple contenders for game of the generation and its not even finish yet, its given us VR at affordable prices. Imagine complaining about Sony shutting studios down when MS have had to go on a shopping spree for new studios cause they shut them down and what’s left is producing 6/10 games.

I hope next gen Xbox does put up a better fight as competition is also good for us players but this gen, MS absolutly failed gamers from the get go.

    • “Microsoft are also crap” isn’t really a good defense.

    • “Xbox has been seen as a joke this whole generation” – Only by the rabid fanboys… I’ve had just as much fun with my Xbox as I have my PS4 this generation.

    • @MiseryPrincess Haha………… cop your self on. Sony have continually put out game of the year contenders this whole gen and will CONTINUE to do so. Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spiderman. Even games like Until Dawn and Detroit Become Human were very well received for multiple choice/paths games.

If what you said were true, then it would be Microsoft that are continually putting out critically acclaimed games to make up for their “stupid” start this gen. But of course, that’s not the case, Sony just do what they do every gen and kill it. Even their, arguably, “stupid” start with PS3, they still killed it the whole gen.

You bring up charging for online. Don’t worry, Microsoft showed everyone the way with that one. Just like when Sony could start charging for online with free2play games AND a 2nd sub to play online with their PS Now service next gen, you can thank Microsoft for those things too. Sony show the way when it comes to games but Microsoft just DOESN’T want to be inspired by that or won’t even take the hint.

Everyone wants multi million sellers like Sony’s games, nobody is making their own garbage like Sea of Thieves or Crackdown 3 lol……….. well I guess Bethesda tried with Fallout 76 and EA with Anthem, look how that worked out lol.

So yeah, cop on next time. How is that for a defence?

    • You need to learn to read whats actually said and not what you think was said…

Firstly, Bloodborne/Spiderman/Detroit are third party games. Detroit isn’t even a PS4 exclusive so that should be painfully obvious. Sony’s own output has been pretty much all samey third person graphics tech demo action games filled with bland forgettable characters doing samey things with gameplay for people who don’t really like to play games or have fun. Oh and some VR junk and boring racers. They’ve gone for commercially safe titles over and over, much like Activision do with CoD and Ubisoft do with Assassin’s Creed. Not exactly something to congratulate them over. Neither Santa Monica nor Naughty Dog have produced a single original series this generation, just sequels/reboots. Exciting stuff.

You seem seriously confused if you think I said “Microsoft are amazing!!!111”. Microsoft are just doing what they do every generation which is release rather samey commercially safe sequels of the same few series, you know, kind of like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica. Which is why I wont congratulate them for being boringly unoriginal either.

I’m not sure why Sony had to copy Microsoft with their “franchise” releases, while copying the silly online fees, but they did, and while you may be fine with Microsoft Sony with samey franchises, I’d prefer them to be Sony Sony. You know PS3 era games which were new and different, Plus that was worthwhile etc.

But I suppose you’re not going to see anything but Sony being perfect with no possible flaws and just congratulate them for whatever they do. You know, like how you congratulate them for releasing utter junk every month on Plus and take offense if anyone thinks it’s possible terrible. It’s kind of like Nintendo fans think every Nintendo game is a solid 10/10, which is why Nintendo haven’t actually done any interesting games for a billion years. Maybe gain a little objectivity. It would even help Sony.

    • Carnivius_Prime

“Neither Santa Monica nor Naughty Dog have produced a single original series this generation, just sequels/reboots.” which have been among the best games ever made. And I ain’t someone who’s even hugely into modern gaming (I’m more into games that are pure game and less movie) that much but those ones are among the few where i actually enjoyed the stories and loved the characters. Plenty of gameplay to go with the stories too. Doesn’t need to be an original series to be a quality game but it does need to push things further than before and SM and ND’s games have. God of War 2018 could have potentially been an all new IP as it was very different to the older games but it paid off in feeling fresh and updated while still carrying over the history of the series and expanding on it. There haven’t been many new IP’s this gen that have really interested me to the extent of GoW and Uncharted 4 which I love. Not in the AAA world anyways. There have been indie games like Dead Cells I have loved too purely for gameplay and heck I still play the hell out of Rocket League several years later too. curious to know what you consider a good game though if it’s gonna be jrpg’s and visual novel things then we’re very different. Those have never felt much like games to me at all.

    • How exactly did Uncharted 4 push anything forward in gameplay? It was basically a direct sequel with way more focus on dialog.

God of War had better graphics, ok, but the gameplay was what? There’s lots of wandering around, slow walking segments, dialog. Ok, but game, the actual core? Simple hack and slash with very, very few enemies and no real depth and not much fun. If you’re a fan of action games it’s not much to write about. If it was stripped back to it’s core combat, there isn’t much game there, significantly less than GoW III even. There’s absolutely no “innovation” in the core gameplay we haven’t seen done better countless times before. They also changed the tone of ridiculous over the top “fighting up the insides of a volcano before being punched by a gigantic fist” fun, to sad Scandinavian drama series about being an old dad. Which isn’t particularly “forward pushing”, just mimicking current drama show trends.

I like gameplay games that are fun, and like to be challenged/adapt. I like interesting and memorable characters and plots that aren’t sad and serious constantly. I’m apparently not in Sony’s intended market demographic this round. (To answer your inquiry, some Jrpgs are fun, but visual novels aren’t games, they’re novels)

    • No no no… Less enthusiasm, THIS.. Is for the… Payers… [DELETED]

    • Sammy______Snake

I own both and I think my xbox has a superior community tools, services, products and freebies. The biggest issue for me is updates and how the PS4 manages HD space, it’s a total dog. The only game I’ve played on PS4 where I notice the slight power increase is APEX, it definitely runs better on PS4

  • Wow. Thanks, once again, for not adding anything to my backlog. I guess..?

EDIT: I am pleased with the change, thanks Sony!

  • THANK YOU! FOR CHANGING THE GAME! Whoever changed it, you are the best!

  • Errrr…yep, thanks for Detroit!

  • Lol ? if only week got get worst we get pes a football game that you can do out side free ps plus game . Worst lineup of the year well done playstation. And Fred not here because Sony move headquarters to Europe. That why blog suck .

    • @ScooterMix

What a rubbish argument. You can do COD outside for free too if you join the army.

    • So defending a football game that has no value on ps plus free games.

    • I assumed you were French or German or any nationality that doesn’t have English as their primary language but then saw the Union Jack. Can’t decipher what you put at all

  • I’m sorry, I’ll let my PS+ subscription expire in November and won’t renew anymore. This year was generally poor, but this month is the lowest ever. You can keep your multiplayer service and stuff, I’m not interested in it anymore.

  • I normally defend the offerings against all the moaners, but this is horrendous.

    • I download 2-3 games a year from this joke called free games, try horizon is surprisingly good

    • I normally moan about the PS Plus monthly games…. And here I am, doing it again, because this is yet another terrible line-up.

    • Are you paid by Sony to do it ? It became a real job to defend the ps plus offering.

  • Damn what a rubbish line-up. I don’t play sports games or racing games. Guess you can’t please everyone. Please give us 4 games each month at least? 1 AAA, 1 AA and 2 indies. Is that too much to ask? Sony, you’re looking really crappy compared to XBox with 4 games each month and Game Pass.

    • An AAA every month? Yeah, that’s way too much to ask from Sony.

    • I do not understand why people are so obsessed with these self-proclaimed “Blockbusters”. Non-stop action and stupid graphic fireworks are not busting my blocks… And I think that if people care about an “AAA” game they would already own it.

    • To me that would make sense, better than thinking I’m getting a deal then seeing it for sale the week into the next month for 5 bucks. That’s the part that hurts the most. It’s like I switched from xbox for this?

  • Horizon chase if a great fun game

    • I was surprised, for the amount of variety, and the soundtrack is amazing (coming from guy that the first thing I do is to remove any music from games)

    • But it’s not quite ‘PS Plus’ monthly games quality, though is it?

    • lets be clear this is the best arcade racing of the last years, great graphics, 4p multiplayer, amazing music and tight controllers in my eyes and I been playing arcade racers for more than 40 years is a future classic

    • Its on Android for free……

    • Glad to hear it. Can’t wait to play it with my friends. To think people are grateful for what we get as a bonus for our sub is beyond me. Some people just want to hate everything.

    • But what is?

  • lIEzioAuditoreIl

Has to be the worst lineup in a long time right? This is downright terrible.

  • Hope you’ve got something planned for Plus soon, especially with PS5 around the corner. This is rubbish

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

  • Nothing for me due to my tastes. I play neither sports games nor racing games, unless it’s WipEout. WipEout is the best. Make a new one for PlayStation 5!

    • Off topic but hurrah!

    • Unfortunately they closed the studio that made Wipeout. They also closed the makers of Twisted Metal. Oh and Motorstorm.

They for some unknown reason kept Polyphony though. I guess Sony hate fun in racing games.

  • I’m sad that the only reason for me to stay subscribed to this “service” is the fact that I would lose my PS+ library if I were to unsubscribe. You give less games, raise the price and then have the guts to give us worse games.

    • Same here, had plus since it started on ps3 I would lose access to hundreds of games if I leave, those that have had it since start should be allowed to own our plus games.

    • Just cancel your subscription, don’t renew. It will probably be worth it in the long run.

    • Re-subscribe once every 6 month or when you see a game you really like. No need to stay subscribed all year, you won’t lose your game.

  • JohnAnnihilation

I thought May was the worst year for PS Plus, I was wrong

  • This is a bad month, even by Sony’s standards.

    • SuperiorMjolnir

Credit where credit is due – thank you for listening to the dissatisfaction of your customers and changing the PS+ selection for this month.

  • Is this a late april fools joke?

  • What an absolute joke! The cheek to take away PS3 and Vita games and then give us absolute rubbish every month… You should be ashamed Sony,

  • What an embarrassment. Is this what you removed PS3 and Vita games for?

  • what a total disaster. pes 2019????? the season is over! there is literally no point in playing this game anymore. shameful

  • [DELETED] is this a joke? A fake news?

  • Wow, this is truly awful. And you are going to make PS+ even more expensive in August.

  • Horizon lol. They must have been rolling on the floor at ps plus when they thought that one up.

“Really ZERO in on people’s faces when it DAWNs on them”. ?

  • Horizon Chase Turbo is a brilliant arcade racer along the lines of Outrun and Lotus Turbo Challenge. I did buy it in the sale last month which I’d been meaning to for awhile, but it’s incredibly fun and you can’t say it rubbish. I’ll give Pro Evo 2019 a go. Been considering getting a rare new football game and this’ll be good enough for me.

    • Dare I say that I am quite pleased with these as well. Haven’t bough PES for a good few years now, even though I used to play it a lot. And Horizon Chase looks very good as well. Both games I will certainly give a go next month.

    • Yeah, Horizon has about 109 tracks I think, lots of cars to unlock, the music’s excellent too. Reminds me very much of the classic Sega music on the Mega Drive. Definitely worth a look ? So many people voice their disdain at Sony for “crap games” (What Remains of Edith Finch and Horizon Chase Turbo are far from crap) on Plus, but there’s still many that enjoy them and like trying something new. Also, not everybody buys football games every year that might buy a new one once every generation, so PES is definitely welcome, and I used to prefer it to Fifa. Seems very AAA or bust.

    • “Also, not everybody buys football games every year ” Imagine, there are even people out there who do not play football at all.

  • lIEzioAuditoreIl

The next pes comes out in 2 months, making this outdated. What were they thinking?

    • Pretty much the only time you see anything close to a AAA game on PS+ is when it’s advertising for something about to come out in a month or 2 (like Borderlands last month).

    • You can not compare that. Borderlands collection has a great story and a lot of content. PES don’t even habe licenses for the most clubs (surr you can download fan made patches) and the season is over.

    • I’m not denying it’s a much better game, but that doesn’t invalidate my comment.

  • Erm, to the people moaning have you not noted that Womens world cup is on FTA TV therefore a apt football game and I will download the football game no issues as that is my type of sport (along with racing cars)

  • Hah. I’m not a football fan but eh whatever, but I was waiting til Horizon Chase Turbo was in a sale next cos I really liked the demo (I like that retro racer vibe) and now I don’t have to pay diddily for it. Thanks. :D

I do miss getting more games each month though but yeah one of these has been on my wishlist for a while so I’m at least partially happy. :D

  • Dear Sony, please let me cancel my Plus subscription. I only have it for the games and for many months I am disappointed with your offering. Please give the money as a store credit.

  • This is the first month in the 6 years I have been using PS Plus where I won’t be downloading any of the titles. I only ever not download something if I don’t even have the slightest interest in trying. At least Borderlands Handsome Collection is taking me a while to platinum. Might have it finished by the time the August games are announced.

    • i haven’t download a games since months but if you eat so much shirt in the last 6 years and don’t try horizon you are not making yourself any favour

  • Awful. ?

If you are in to football games you would of already purchased Fifa or Pro Evo or both, what’s the point in forcing a football game on to the masses who won’t even bother downloading it?

    • I can’t imagine there is a person alive who wants the soccer game but has been waiting 10 months to get it.

  • This is bad Sony and you should feel bad!

  • Meanwhile on Gamepass for a few bucks more: Metro Exodus, Life is Strange 2, Shadow Of the Tomb Raider and many many more..

    • If your comparing like for like it’s games with gold and thay ain’t good games! Game pass is comparable to playstation now! I’ve just signed up to game pass a £1 for a month how could you not?

    • Gamepass is great. Haven’t touched my Playstation in months. The Xbox has the best service for gamers this generation. But luckily for Sony their Exclusives suck.

  • I love Horizon and I love it so much I will buy it again physical to play it in 20 years time again, no complains of curse solid choice

but giving away In JULY a game that in 2 months would render old is a insult to the intelligence of the players

  • Absolute rubbish.

  • that racing game might be fun but overall what a disappointing month ?

  • Usually I am happy with the games but I would rather [DELETED] in my hands and clap than play this garbage.

  • Horizon Chase is alright…. For a mobile game. The console version doesn’t add anything really except enhanced performance

Another racing game instead of that would’ve been nice

  • God I hate football. I usually get theses freebies even if I have no intention of playing them. I think I’ll pass on this one.

    • British and hate football, please pinch me someone :P

    • I love football, but this month is still rubbish, that’s for sure

    • i’m british and hate football. I like kicking a ball about but watching professional football matches bores the heck out of me. Only football video game I liked was Sensible Soccer. That one was pretty fun.

    • That’s like me it would take months until a decent game pops up that I would download and I’m stuck bored most of the time waiting for more to pop up. They should give us the option to pick 2 games of our choice on ps store that way everyone’s happy

    • ????

I’m assuming that was a joke…. well it made me laugh anyway

  • It’s funny that the author doesn’t even reply to any comments posted here..oh well..another terrible month and another no ps plus renewal for me..come one Sony..seriously!!!!!

  • Ok….. party’s over. Time to pack it up and move on. This service has gotten worse than having no games. Now they just want to insult you. This gives me pause when it comes to PS5. Sony seems to be mismanaging the good will they have built up. I’m getting concerned they are going to make some “PS3 launch” level mistakes since they’ve gotten too comfortable.

    • Hopefully Sony learn the single constant lesson with every console launch. The cheaper console always wins.

  • This is what happens when you are sales leader. Enjoy.

  • Microsoft products continue to look tempting!

    • If only they didn’t have terrible controllers and no interesting exclusives!

    • Now, now. Forza Horizon 4 is excellent. As is… uh… about a quarter of Rare Replay, maybe?

…Yeah, I can really see why they’ve desperately been buying out game studios in the last couple of years. This hasn’t exactly been a stellar gen for the Xbox.

    • ThePirateLeChuck

Sea of Thieves is actually rather brilliant.

Not a carbon copy Action Adventure game (but just with different characters) like 90% of Sony’s exclusives over this generation.

    • Go on back that pathetic comment up with some evidence. Read some crap in this comment section but that’s a new low

    • Killzone. Sad first person action adventure game.

God Of War. Sad third person action adventure game.

Uncharted 4. Third person action adventure game, cover shooter, optional stealth. Humans.

Infamous. Sad third person action adventure game. open world, optional stealth. Humans.

Other Infamous. Sad third person action adventure game. open world, optional stealth. Humans.

Last of Us 2. Sad third person action adventure game, cover shooter, optional stealth. Zombies.

Days Gone. Sad third person action adventure game, open world, optional stealth. Zombies.

Horizon Zero Dawn. Sad third person action adventure game, open world, optional stealth. Robot dinosaurs.

Ghosts of Tsushima. Sad third person action adventure game, open world, optional stealth. Mongolians.

Oh and Gran Turismo/VR tech demos.

(before anyone thinks it, Spider-man/Bloodborne/Rachet and Clank/Death Stranding etc. etc. are all third party games)

I’m just glad the third party studios have been giving us more variety.

    • If your really that blind just get rid of your PS4. Pretty sure no-one would notice you’re gone

    • Glad you’re one of the people that like sad third person action adventure games that copy each other. Over and over and over.

This has probably been the worst generation for variety in Sony first party games, some studios doing nothing but sequels even (Naughty Dog/Santa Monica).

    • I must agree with Rusty, why do you have a PS4 if you’re just complaining about pretty much all the exclusive games, which you imply are interesting by saying XBox doesn’t have anything interesting , and the PS Plus service. I’m sure other consoles have various controller shapes, just like there’s a XBox shaped pad for PS4. All the Sony first party games have great or intriguing stories in my opinion, whether they’re ‘sad’, which let’s face it, nearly all narrative driven games have sad moments, it’s called drama, and they are great to play and why a fair amount of them have sold well and are well loved. Because a game is third person doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a carbon copy of another. Yes, I’ll agree Naughty Dog has inspired a new level of story telling among the Sony studios, but I can’t agree to the carbon copies of everything. There’s linear to open world, super powers to guns to swords and bow and arrows, zombie-like enemies to mechanical dinosaurs and monsters, the feel of the characters, the art style, the music all unique to each game or franchise. You may as well say every game in existence are carbon copies of each other. At least Sony are letting their studios attempt new franchises if they so wish and taking some risks and playing it entirely safe by just doing another Call of Duty. And we all know Naughty Dog’s gearing up to create a new IP which could already be in some stage of pre-production. It’s just taking longer than we expected due to troubled development of Uncharted 4 and figuring out what game to do next which I understood was Last of Us part 2, going back to Jak and Daxter and a sci-fi game. The point being just enjoy some bloody games instead of moaning.

    • I’m not complaining about “all the exclusive games”, just pointing out how formulaic the Sony first party titles have actually been. They saw the Last of Us on the PS3 and basically just copied that formula with slightly different settings (kind of like CoD how they copy a popular formula). There’s plenty of PS4 “exclusives” (and non exclusives) I like, just not many first party exclusives, as they’re generally a bit dull, personally, have characters I have zero interest in (lets face it, they’re all basically a bunch of stoic people who don’t talk much with “safe” personalities, there’s no “weird” people in Sony games), and don’t usually have very good actual gameplay.

“Drama” doesn’t mean “sad all the time” at all. That’s the trap that games like Final Fantasy XV fall into, 1000s of scenes of people crying in the rain and being killed doesn’t make you care more each time, it just makes you numb and uncaring. It was more emotional and “drama” when in games like Dragonquest XI the few bad things happened to genuinely happy and likable people. First party titles often have mopey unlikable people walking around having people be mean while they’re angry. It’s silly, and kind of lazy.

I just hope on the PS5 we get more variety from Sony studios, instead of sequels and sad third person action games with optional stealth. Oh and no more damned slow walking segments and unskippable cutscenes. Slow walking segements are basically escort missions with no enemies. I enjoy plenty of games. Just not the Sony’s Creed series.

    • That’s down to the tone of how a story’s set up and then into account the setting. Post Apocalyptic and Survival games tend to have that depressing and struggling to survive asthestics so trying to break the sadness up kind of goes the other way. If you care about the characters enough then when something joyous happens, for example The Last of Us after Ellie’s been traumatised trying to survive David and the rest of the cannabals, only to come across the giraffes that bring her back to being responsive . It’s uplifting and just as emotional, but not easy to do. And some games you mentioned like infamous second son and Horizon Zero Dawn I wouldn’t exactly class as being ‘sad’ games. Tragedy happens in both but I wouldn’t say the story in either game is dragged down all the while. I personally enjoy the 3rd person narrative games, probably more than other genres, and I’ve never found any real issues with gameplay personally. Also adding the depth to Kratos’ character in God of War was quite a bold move, yes, Last of Us inspired, but it worked. They could’ve easily gone the way it would have been previously, but that might’ve ended up being more of same as the previous 6 games. The slow walking segments and unskippable cut scenes would be more down to background loading like the elevator sections or squeezing through a narrow crack in the wall, so hopefully there’ll be less of that with the improved loading of the new consoles. There was also Knack 1 & 2, The Last Guardian, Driveclub, The Order 1886, Detroit Become Human (though I know Quantic Dreams is going multiplatform) Until Dawn and MLB The Show as well. I know 4 of those games were definitely by first party studios as well so there has been that extra bit of variation outside of Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Guerilla, Bend and Suckerpunch. I know Sony want to do some more multiplayer games, but as long as the story telling and the games are as good as I personally think they are and work on release as they have been for the most part, whatever genre they fall under I’ll be quite happy.

    • I think that’s the problem. I care about absolutely none of the characters at all, because they’re all designed for the same tastes. They’re all a bunch of not very interesting, normal looking, normal people, all very, very forgettable. Adding “depth” to kratos wasn’t a bold move. It was making him a bearded dad because it was written by a bearded dad. Mostly intended for bearded dads to play. “ellie” is a flimsily veiled ellen page (though that’s not a this gen game at all). There’s no silly over the top comic book villains, just a bunch of creepy dads.

It basically comes down to one thing, how much you loved the Last of Us on PS3. If you do, then all of these Sony exclusives are made for you. If you don’t like games like that, then too bad, Sony isn’t going to bother offering you anything. The PS3 sony exclusives have undoubtedly more variety to them. There was also arcade racers, RPGs, shooting games, weird games, games like Fat Princess and games like LBP (which would have never been allowed at modern Sony). The only ones on that list that’s first party is Driveclub, The Order, Knack, Until dawn and the junk sports games. Which are more examples of action adventure, or unoriginal, or not even really games.

This generation Sony has produced nothing “weird” or not “commercially safe” they’ve taken next to no risks with any PS4 game, just copy pasted a popular PS3 formula over and over. Pretty sure in 20 years time there wont be a big drive to remake any of these games, there’s no point, they deliver nothing new at all over the PS3 even now.

    • You keep pointing out action adventure but that’s what Spider-man, Bloodborne and Death Stranding are. Granted they have some of the more weirder characters you might be after but they’re still under that 3rd person action game banner. There’s Dreams, Gravity Rush 1+2, Tearaway, granted two of those are Vita ports but there are still different games on PS4, so you can’t really say something like LittleBigPlanet wouldn’t be allowed by modern Sony. What about games like Concrete Genie? Or say Blood and Truth on PSVR. I think remastered or remade games will be less likely to happen if going forward everything’s backwards compatible, plus the graphics are at point that these games will look great even in 20 years time, but I’m sure a lot of the games you’re not struck on will be played by many for years to come, as they’re a lot of people’s favourites.

    • You’re pointing out 2 PS3 era Vita games and a VR game. VR is a bit weird because Sony are trying to make it profitable still, to claw back some of the costs of years of developments that have been met with, let’s be honest, lukewarm (5x worse than Vita) sales. So basically it’s in a “PS3 position” where they’re trying more things to increase interest, however, the PS4 being a market leader isn’t in the same place, so they don’t bother trying anything new or risky.

You know, I’m not really convinced anyone will care about any of the current PS4 Sony exclusives years from now. I mean, when Days Gone arrived people were already complaining about how Horizon was “repetitive in comparison”. The thing that lasts is gameplay and characters, which is by far the weakest aspect of all this generations Sony games. FF VI is a pile of crap graphics wise, but people remember Kefka, Dark Souls looks like doodoo but people still speak about it’s gameplay and characters. Crysis was good graphics at the time, but who even mentions that game now, or even the PS4 Infamous games? (also be careful with the “graphics don’t fade” thing, people said that about the PS3 and PS2 even)

Concrete genie miight be good, and it’s thankfully not yet another Sony’s Creed, but like, we’re getting to the end of a generation and there has been a massive lack of interesting exclusives with interesting characters. It would be a shame if all there was to show for a generation was a cartoon boy who scribbles on the wall and character preset from a really boring MMO 1-15.

    • “why do you have a PS4 if you’re just complaining about pretty much all the exclusive games” – Dunno about her, but I am here because of the Japanese games. Sony also has a very satisfying achievement system. It is the best out there.

    • Different strokes for different folks I guess. I regard the 360/XB1 controllers as superior to the PS ones. Far more comfortable to use, though the DS4 is a big improvement over the DS3.

    • It’s probably down to hand shape. The XBone controllers have tiny grips and I can’t put my (rather long) fingers anywhere, so it causes discomfort after a while.

The Gamecube style upper stick position means you can’t easily use the dpad and the stick at the same time, however, which is debilitating in games like Dark Souls/Nioh etc. PS style upper dpads are great for running and changing/using items simultaneously as the index finger can still use the dpad. On an Xbone pad layout you have to stop moving to switch items due to the dpad being placed below the stick.

  • So, any chance to get life of black tiger next month?

    • I wish!!

Maybe they could pair it up with Horse Racing 2016. Already finished it once on Xbox but would definitely play it again on PS4.

  • Very happy with them 2 as been tempted a few times to buy both
