Find out more about the upcoming The City That Never Sleeps DLC

Hey everyone. After spending over three years working on Marvel’s Spider-Man, it’s a thrill that the game is launching next week. We hope you’ve got your pre-orders ready, and can’t wait to explore our original Spider-Man universe next Friday, 7th September!

Marvel’s Spider-Man brings many great surprises, story moments and gameplay that should keep you busy. We know many of you want to know what’s next though, and so we’re thrilled to announce the release schedule for Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps DLC.

The first chapter of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps is Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, and it will be released on 23rd October. As you play the base game, you’ll realize that Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, is back in town and she’s leaving clues around town to toy with Spider-Man. In Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, she finally reveals herself. Featuring new missions and challenges, as well as a brand new faction of enemies and three additional suits to unlock, you won’t want to miss it.

In addition, we’re also excited to share the full release calendar for the second and third installments of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: City That Never Sleeps:

  • 23rd October – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist
  • November – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Turf Wars
  • December – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Silver Lining

If you haven’t pre-ordered the game yet, now’s the perfect time to grab the Digital Deluxe Edition which gives you the full game PLUS all three installments of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps.

Additionally, for those of you attending PAX Prime in Seattle this weekend, Marvel’s Spider-Man will be playable in the exhibit hall so you can go hands on before the game comes out. I’ll be around, so if you see me, please do say hi!

Thanks for all your support of Marvel’s Spider-Man. We cannot wait for you to play the game, and we’re working hard to bring you additional content in the form of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps over the rest of 2018. In the meantime, feel free to keep in touch on social media for all the latest from Insomniac Games on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

  • Next week?!!! Damn this year’s going too fast. I gotta go eBay some stuffs…

  • Is the DLC included in the collectors edition as well or just the digital version?

  • Remember when you could buy a game and get the full game? In Norway (maybe elsewhere as well) you get 3 months of Ps-plus if you pre-order Spiderman, but seems we have to pay extra to get the full experience and cut out content. I actually thought Sony understood that gamers are tired of Deluxe Editions, Gold Editions, Complete Editions, Full game Editions etc. etc. Guess not. Money talks.

    • You’re getting the “full game” with tons of content. Just because there’s additional side content doesn’t mean it’s not the “full game”. Do you think games before weren’t “full games” when they got expansions? Witcher 3 wasn’t a “full game” because it had side story DLC like Blood & Wine? Just because additional content is released closer to release (and not like 1 or 2 years after release) doesn’t mean it’s “cut content” or something as some people like to exclaim. They release it closer because most people wouldn’t pick up delayed additional content nowadays (and as a publisher and dev, you would absolutely not release your content if it meant that not a lot of people would buy it).

Not all DLC is good, but not all DLC is scummy and bad either.

    • It sounds like a full game, why do you think its not a full game? And the base game sounds to be longer than any of the Batman Arkham games to date so it mustn’t be all that bad content wise as a full price game. It could be worse, it could be a full price game like We Happy Few lol.

Also, my 8 year old self says hello who got Sonic the Hedgehog 3 which only had 6 Zones in it and the rest was made avaible in a second add-on game you had to pay for called Sonic and Knuckles. Yeah, “remember when you could buy a game and get the full game” lol.

    • So instead of getting three skins or a bonus misson for free for completing the game on hard I guess you lot would rather pay for the deluxe edition. Got it.

It is only a few years since the uproar when people realized dlc was actually on the disc and had to be unlocked with money, now it is so common that you do not even realize it anymore and just bend over.

Kids these days buy skins for 20$ in a free2play game and think it is normal, and how it has always been, and you defend it. Get real.

    • He didnt defend a €20 skin. He stated pretty well there are good and bad dlc. And i agree. I pay gladly for a 100-hour game for its story and gameplay and then pay extra if i want expansions and/or extra story outside of the main.

If you knew how a company makes a game you shouldnt complain. Do you think the level designers for example idly sit and wait a year with full payroll when they are done with the map? No they constantly need to jump to the next project. Its a company after all, not a charity.

    • @ AnalogueAutomat “So instead of getting three skins or a bonus misson for free for completing the game on hard I guess you lot would rather pay for the deluxe edition. Got it.”

Do you have to make stuff up and put words into people’s mouth because you feel your arguments as that weak? The game already has several unlockable skins (the pre-order/bonus skins allow you to unlock some of the ones earlier and easier in the game, they’re not exclusive) in the core game and a bunch of missions. So your made up argument rings especially hollow.

“It is only a few years since the uproar when people realized dlc was actually on the disc and had to be unlocked with money, now it is so common that you do not even realize it anymore and just bend over.”

So you’re saying this specific content is on the disc? These 3 pieces of DLC is on the disc? If that’s not the case (and you don’t have facts to back it up) I don’t see how that’s relevant. It’s just more logical fallacies. Anyway, you don’t seem to understand the game development process and structure at all from what you’re saying. Not really in the mood to educate someone so stubborn on this subject either, especially one eager to put words into people’s mouths to further his agenda.

“Kids these days buy skins for 20$ in a free2play game and think it is normal, and how it has always been, and you defend it. Get real.”

I like how you didn’t actually counter any of the arguments and points I put forth. Instead you pump out irrelevant red herrings and logical fallacies. I talk about games like Witcher 3 and how they handled DLC and you ramble on about how kids spend 20$ on cosmetics in F2P games. In my mind you’re the juvenile here. Feel free to reply, but I get the feeling you’re not very reasonable and open-minded so I probably won’t have the urge to revisit this post to read it. So try and work on this for future discourse.

    • @analogueautomat The Spider-Man coming out next week IS the full game. The full story. This was finished and all sent off to be packaged up ready for release. The DLC is extra content the developers work on after all that is done.

And even back in the 8 and 16 bit home computer era you there were games that offered extra content often referred to by terms such as ” level expansion pack” or “mission disks” or similar. The core game is finished. The extra levels are new things added to extend onto that game. But yeah feel free to whine and complain because that’s what a lot of modern gamers like to do even with high quality products.

    • @AnalogueAutomat28 And yet the very game you are talking about right now has 30 costumes that are spread across various preorder bonuses with different chains and the like, much like the Batman Arkham games but the difference with this game and the Arkham games is that the costumes can also be acquired in game for absolutely FREE. Weird how you would conveniently left out that point unless you seriously didn’t know. Insomniac have gone of record to explain this. So you are wrong mate.

And don’t change the subject by talking about actual story DLC which is what they are charging for, not something like “three skins” that you mentioned which I just explained are all going to be free in the game but you have to craft them.

Now, garbage paid for character DLC like in Soul Calibur VI? I am literately not buying that game now because I have to assume they are going with the same garbage DLC route that Tekken 7 went in/is still going in with a Season Pass 2 now lol. And I am telling Namco Bandai that I am not buying it because of that greed that they never did before.

  • I’ve preorderd game yestrday and i am really looking foward to playing it, i really do belive this Spiderman game will be unlike any other given the effort and time that has been taken by Sony and Insomniac to develop this game. It was E3 2016 that we saw most of the Playstation exclusives that we enjoyed so far and some of them that we are still waiting. And when i see how amazing God of War and Detroit become human turned out i have full belif that Spiderman will be as good as thosse two games that we played earlier this year..

    • i didn’t like Detroit much at all so hoping this is better. :P but yes God of War was glorious

    • I was excited for Detroit and it really turned out as good as hoped i know it was never or never will be good as God of War or some other titles but i was excited to finally play it so maybe i am a little buyest but i really enjoyed the game and world around it. So i belive Sony will gives us another great title this year in the form of Spiderman…

    • *biased

  • Can we not buy this seperately then? It’s on the US store but not on the UK one?

  • “Additionally, for those of you attending PAX Prime in Seattle this weekend, Marvel’s Spider-Man will be playable in the exhibit hall so you can go hands on before the game comes out. I’ll be around, so if you see me, please do say hi!”

Come on guys, this blog is for Europeans, at least take some time and effort to recognise that and not just give us a copy paste job.

  • I’ll never understand why devs try to sell you on DLC before the game is even out. It’s something I really don’t like about the current model. Get your game out, then please fans with more content. This just all seems like such a cash grab.

    • it so people know they have more content lined up til December and they’ll hold on to the game instead of reselling it once they’re done. Sony makes no profit from used sales. And this way the market will see less used Spider-Man copies in the first three months, when the hype is strongest.

  • Hopeful that I would get it on my birthday in a couple of months time!!!

  • The game looks really cool. It’s by Insomniac games who are the masters of 7/10 games.

  • I pre-ordered the other day. I dont mind buying DLC but the Witcher 3 has now set the standard for what I think current DLC should be. I’m not paying £30 for three suits and one side mission.

    • But the Deluxe edition(s) that includes these DLC-missions are not £30 more expensive ? Here in Sweden the difference is 90 swedish krona so thats roughy 10€ so it was a no-brainer for me to pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition on the PS Store.

    • Yes, it’s €10 extra for all 3 extra chapters, they’ve only said it’s 3 more suits for the first chapter, so there’s still the possibility there’s anther 3 suits for the remaining 2 chapters.

  • I’ll just simply wait ulitmate ultra deluxe edition (final) after six months later.

    • Better yet, wait for the remake of the game that Xbox will get in 2038 on its 20th year anniversary like Spyro lol.

  • Complainers don’t realise how game development actually works.

  • What about physical special edition? Does it include those 3 DLCs?

    • Nope, it doesn’t according to posts on the US Blog. Each episode is going to cost $9.99 or $24.99 for all 3. That’s in US dollars, so expect it to cost us more here in SIEE regions.

  • It would be nice if one of the prerelease DLCs replaced the main character with someone who wasn’t Spiderman. I don’t mind this kind of game, but I can’t stand that annoying guy. At all.

  • It’s not right that on top of the Special Edition (which costs more than the digital deluxe), if we want the other DLC that includes the extra episode, we need to buy a Season Pass (of sorts)… which is apparently $24.99USD, so probably twice that for us here in Oz ($39.95 or $49.95)… that’s a bit steep isn’t it?

I’m half tempted to cancel my order, wait until the game drops in price and then buy it along with all of the DLC.

And no, I don’t want the digital version – our internet speeds are still pathetic, but i’d rather have the physical disc and not have to download 30+Gb.

  • I’m hugely dissapointed. Why??? Why??? I want to have complete game 1st day it’s comes out. Why devs doing this??? Why it can’t be like in GoW, complete game? It’s looks like devs alredy worked on DLCs, if you look on realese dates. So [DELETED]???

  • Thank you for deleting my comment. 4 the players right?

  • I’ll think twice before buying PS5. I have enought reciving middle fingers from SONY.
