Marvel's Spider-Man faces a legendary threat in the new E3 Showcase trailer

Wow, what a PlayStation E3 Showcase! That was an intense and heart-pounding evening, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we appreciated being a part of it.

We absolutely love working with the Marvel Universe and its amazing characters and, as you’ll see in the new gameplay video we showed this evening, our roster of characters in the game just expanded … a lot:

Our team is thrilled to finally show you more of what you’ll be up against in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Things heat up for Spider-Man as many of the Super Villains he has put away over his eight years as Spidey have escaped simultaneously.

This is a pivotal moment in the game, where the fragile peace in New York City has now been completely shattered, as Super Villains have now escaped the maximum-security facility, the RAFT, just off the coast of Manhattan. Worse, as you saw at the end the gameplay video, Spider-Man is no match on his own in the one vs five situation. These are dire times in Marvel’s New York City.

We spent a ton of time working with our friends at Marvel Games to ensure we got characters like Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture and Electro just right. Those four join Mister Negative as five villains in our game cooperating with the mysterious sixth villain that Spider-Man sees just before the end of the gameplay video. They all showed off brand new, original and more powerful versions of their suits. These designs were careful collaborations to create familiar but fresh takes on the characters.

We hope you enjoyed another taste of one of our blockbuster action moments in Marvel’s Spider-Man. This week we’re also letting everyone at the show swing around a section of our Manhattan, stopping crime, completing research tasks for Harry Osborn, infiltrating and shutting down enemy bases, and even coming face-to-face with Shocker himself in a climactic boss battle.

Everyone here at Insomniac is working hard to finish the game and ensure it lives up to your expectations on 7th September 2018. You can pre-order now – which gets you an early unlock of a Spidey Suit Pack, the Spider-Drone gadget, skill points to spend immediately on your skill tree, as well as a PS4 theme and PSN avatar.

For those attending E3 – they can get a copy of the Daily Bugle that’s ripped from the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man the day after the RAFT Breakout. Even if you don’t snag that though, we have an additional Daily Bugle series that will be posted on the Marvel’s Spider-Man web page at playstation.com that shares some of the events that occur in the lead-up to the beginning of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Check back every month through September for new digital issues!

That’s all for now – for all the latest from Marvel’s Spider-Man at E3, check out our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages!

  • This is the one exclusive I was having a little doubts about and didn’t have pre ordered yet, but that will be rectified now :) I trusted the talented developer, but am not altogether a great fan of Spiderman in general. But after seeing the gameplay I know it doesn’t matter, a great game is a great game regardless :) And Spiderman is probably the perfect take for them since they’re great with combat and mobility. Looks a lot like the Batman games of late on the combat side, but the traversing looks so much more satisfying as Spiderman in an exclusive by a great developer. Can’t wait!

  • Looks more and more like it’ll be the best superhero game by far (i know it’s taking some cues from the Arkham games but I hated those tedious things, and Spider-Man’s a better character for general action and fluidity anyways). Still not sure on the choice of villains here. Kinda hoping for more of the ‘big guys’ but we’ll see. It looks like a lot of fun to play and easily the best Spider-Man product in years (boo hiss to the Iron Man sidekick of the MCU)

  • Can’t wait to play this when it launches i know pepole are having doubts because its SpiderMan and previois studios have promised us great SpiderMan games some of the achived it at certian aspects of the game certian studios failed in big way however i have feeling Insomniac will make great Spiderman game…

    • No, this will not be great Spiderman game. It will be Amazing Spiderman game!

    • Yeah you are right this thing will be nothing else but amazing game

    • Here’s the thing, previous Spider-Man games were published by Activision & only a few of them were actually perfect, now that Sony is publishing this game & Insomniac is developing it, & of course the amazing demo at E3 we’re gonna be in for 1 hell of a game.

  • I am looking forward to the game this September!!!

  • Smells like a new Sinister Six story. Perhaps sixth member is Mysterio or Doc Oc?
