Fight alien infestations, clone creatures and explore a vast, randomly-generated universe

Hey PlayStation fans, it’s Sascha and Jens here from Radiation Blue! We are happy today to show off our latest trailer for our debut title Genesis: Alpha One. In case you don’t know much about it allow us to provide a few more details…

Genesis: Alpha One is a revolutionary mix of roguelike, FPS, base building and survival that puts you in the role of an interstellar pioneer.

As the Captain of a Genesis starship, you journey into uncharted space on the ultimate mission: Find new homes for humanity’s DNA and save the species from extinction.

To do this you will need to build and manage your spaceship, discover planets and harvest resources from them, clone new crewmembers and create new lifeforms to populate new worlds and of course defend yourself from terrifying Alien infestations on your ship! Nobody said saving humanity would be easy…

We are really excited to share with you today that while exploring the universe you will not be confined to the starship that you call home but will be able to take your harvester down to planets that you discover on your travels.
When you touch down on these previously undiscovered planets your trusty crew of clones will set about mining for resources that you need to expand your ship.

You can either help them out or explore for artefacts, new weapons, blueprints and transmissions all of which will help you in your quest. You may also have to defend yourself and your crew from any hostile alien lifeforms that populate the planet. Be careful not to take back any unwanted passengers back to your starship!

We would love to hear what you think about Genesis and look forward to showing you more about the game between now and launch later this year!

  • Looks ambitious. Maybe a bit too ambitious for an indie team with limited manpower.

Gunplay looks a bit underwhelming, UI design needs work and the clones look like mannequins. Apart from that it seems pretty neat.

  • This looks great, I can’t wait to give it a go. Would be interested to know more about the upgrades we can craft: e.g. weapons, equipment, DNA-alterations & spaceship parts. Also, how large are the planetside areas? Can we explore the entire planet (perhaps using vehicles) or just certain zones?

Upgrades to your arsenal are acquired in multiple ways, including randomly finding weapon schematics on planet surfaces, from dead aliens, or by doing specific “side quests” for specific weapons. Things that aren’t collected are researched using your various modules, and you’ll unlock more and more as you go along. Each time you finish a playthrough certain unlocks will carry over to the next playthrough, giving you more options the more you play.

As for the planetary landings, these are restricted to the landing sites of the planets for your own safety!
