  • Because multiple apps are so last year…..

  • will your posted screenshots be available there?

  • Instead of wasting money on something like this, can you spend it on enabling PS name changes please.

    • just create a new account surely?

    • I could.. but i don’t want to loose all the trophies i have achieved since day one.

    • Then don’t change your name… They made it clear when you signed up you couldn’t change it so I really don’t see why everyone makes such a big deal of this

    • It’s only a name, who cares?

    • “I don’t see the value so nobody else should either?”

@Jason, the problems you can fix are various.

      1. Got a stalker ex who makes new PSN accounts to harass you? They can just go away if they don’t know your handle.

      2. Maybe “ragingstallion242” was a great name when you signed up to PSN at the age of 8, but your 40yo corporate self doesn’t like it so much. Especially useful if your name is something like “weeduser” or, as I’ve seen, your real name because you made an error signing up (computers are hard for some people, weird but true).

      3. Preference. “StarWarsLover” would have been cool before the prequel movies. Now everyone hates you.

      4. “just make a new PSN” doesn’t work very well if you have a million trophies and they’re important, and/or you’ve got a million digital purchases. Yeah, you can log onto your PS4 as your old name, but that’s fiddly and not a good user experience.

Etc. Sony and Valve are the two holdouts who don’t provide this service (MSFT, Bliz, etc… do), and even Valve lets you have a sort of mask, so you appear as whatever you like. The sheer number of people requesting this should give you an idea that the latent demand is hyooooge, and if Sony monetised it (ten bucks a pop?) they’d probably double their quarterly profits.

Some indications are it’s coming but not soon because of the technical implementation, which would be nice. Just because you don’t want something and don’t see the value doesn’t mean it’s not valuable.

    • Think its on the way :)

    • I had to make a new account already due to a change in region and needing PS+. They don’t really allow you to change account regions, and payment options were kind of limited or annoying to maintain PS+ on the first (though it gets better games usually).

At first I was kind of a bit gah about letting go of the trophies and everything else (it was an account made almost at the start of proper PSN to give you an idea of how much it was used), but after 3 months or so the new account was more “mine” than the original. All the digital purchases still worked the same, and I just use the other account for player 2.

Changing your ID probably wouldn’t keep a determined stalker away. That kind of thing is a more serious issue that probably needs reporting to Sony and blocking messages from unknown people rather than hoping people aren’t good at guessing.

    • While this looks a little like another “I don’t see the value so nobody else should either” comment, you’ve touched on something worth pulling out a little further that might demonstrate why re-rolling your PSN isn’t ideal.

I mentioned earlier that your e.g. of using the other user as a 2nd account is not a good user experience, which you don’t have an issue with (…and so nobody else should either), but what about content like e.g. Warframe Prime packs? Let’s say you buy content like Plat and Frames, attached to your PSN. They’re not (I think!) transferable to all the users of the same console. So, how do you gain access to cloud-based content tied to a PSN ID?

You could re-buy it at ruinous expense, but often these are limited time deals. There are probably a lot of pithy answers like “don’t play free2play games” but titles like Destiny or Battlefront, with in-game currency and investment into in-game unlockables, are not transferable to other users of the same console.

So, to play those games, you’re back to your old PSN ID, which we don’t want. What’s the solution?

    • You make some valid points that I guess I didn’t consider tactical.

i’ve always used my real name for psn and in over 10 years I’ve had 0 issues. Wasn’t a mistake for me. My younger cocky self thought it would be cool for people to know who beat them (as if I ever win). Of course if I did I could throw this account in a heartbeat and not look back if I wanted. The best bit about online is when you switch off, most of the time, your problems are gone.

    • No, it was a “making a new PSN account isn’t so bad” comment. Which it isn’t. You could easily read your comment as “I see this as valuable so everyone else should too” but that would be equally as silly.

This hypothetical person is pretty silly aren’t they? First of all making a weird PSN name, then keep it for a bunch of years, then telling people at their corporation about it, then buying that junk. To play all those games you’d be back to your old account anyway as your characters would be there.

  • Pretty nice, but the only thing that’s missing from MyPlayStation is the feature to change your PSN header. I would put any image from my computer/phone as a header in my PSN account rather than just my screenshots taken from my PS4. But overall, it’s a pretty good site for me to get in.

    • At the moment it drags in the image you set on your profile while using your PS4, but we’ll be sure to pass that feedback on.

  • And still no activity log/playtime tracking.

  • The profile and trophies need to be publicly viewable, without requiring a sign in to PSN.

So for example, if I go to https://my.playstation.com/profile/Paranoimia there should be a public profile which anyone can view, even without a PSN account. The US site used to offer this, the EU site never did, and now this doesn’t either.

  • I would love to be able to join party and voice chat to friends via my phone or laptop.

  • Does this bring an API to integrate with looking for group websites ? At least just to send messages. Its darn annoying having to copy everyones psn name just to inv them to the party one by one! For a 20min or less games.

  • Needs ability to delete mass notifications, to be able to sort trophies, etc.

All basic functions from the PS3 era!

  • Did anyone ask for this? Why on mobile would we use this if we already have three separate apps (that could easily be one by the way) that have these features?

Sony, [DELETED] are you guys playing at?

  • If only I could change my region or pay with my credit card instead of the need to buy store credits… I would actually spend more money on content on PSN store. Win-win for both (maybe a little loss for me)… but no. :-(

  • Can you add something to the website to pause the videos? As nice as trailers are I don’t really need it on over and over while looking at messages!!

  • Add a social lunch (what’s new) for viewing events and getting friends’ trophies
