10 ways Deus Ex: Mankind Divided aims to be the perfect action RPG

Check out the brand new trailer for Eidos’ upcoming sequel

Although we’ve been quiet about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for the past few months, our team at Eidos-Montréal has been hard at work on the game. We’re excited to be back in the spotlight today with our brand new 101 trailer, which will give you an overview of what you can expect from the game. Enjoy!

So how does Deus Ex: Mankind Divided perfect the action-RPG formula? Here are 10 ways:

  1. Deus Ex is all about letting you play the way you want. Combat, stealth, hacking and social approaches will always be at your disposal to tackle your objectives.
  2. Every choice you make in the game will have a consequence, and every decision you make will ultimately have an impact on the ending you witness.
  3. Adam Jensen will have a whole new set of augmentations, and it’ll be up to you to choose which ones to invest in to support your play style.
  4. Weapons are now customisable on the fly with different attachments and ammo types.
  5. Our team has taken a lot of care to craft meaningful side quests. No generic objectives and situations here – every one of our side quests will introduce you to different characters and their own stories, and involve moral choices.

  7. Dialogue choices are also an important social feature in the game, with one augmentation providing you with information on how to best handle certain conversations to reach your objective.
  8. Our hacking mini-game comes with a slew of new possibilities. We’re also introducing a remote hacking augmentation, which lets you manipulate certain devices on the fly.
  9. The game will take you to diverse locations around the world. So far, we’ve revealed Dubai, Prague and a fictional ghetto called Golem City. Dense and rich environments are our motto.
  10. Layers are at the core of our music system, which will dynamically adapt to what you will be doing in the world – exploration, infiltration, combat, and so on.
  11. When you finish the game, you’ll be able to access the New Game Plus mode. In this mode, we’ll encourage you to make different choices and mix up your play style to experience what you might have missed the first time around.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is releasing on 23rd August 2016 for PlayStation 4, with the Digital Standard and Deluxe editions being available for pre-order right now on PlayStation Store. Which aspect of the game are you most excited about?

  • For a second I thought I had been asleep for a while…but the 23/2 date is for ordering the day one edition and not the release of the game….Well at least I haven’t been in a coma or something.

  • wow! i was interested in this game due to liking the last one, but wow this looks beautiful and more of what i loved. i predict good things to come.

  • A truly brilliant series that is one of my absolute favourites. So can’t wait for this! ><

    • Would get the CE for the statue if it were half the size and without a foot stand :( Jensen is one of the coolest protagonists since Solid Snake imo.

  • Will all the shooting sections be first person? Pointless if you can’t offer shooting in third person – especially as you have the model for other parts. The only shooting in forced FPV should be sniping and things like that. The rest should be a choice.

    • Why would there be an option to toggle between first and third person. You can shoot from third person when you’re in cover but its primarily a first person game. Deus Ex is a first person series at its core so there won’t be a permanent third person option.

    • Because they have no excuse not to. Plus it will increase potential buyers access to the game. Gta is 3rd person in every 3d version yet they now cater to fps players in gtav. So previous games being such and such is no excuse.

It’s about listening to consumers. I would buy it if there is a guarantee that there will be 3rd person shooting. I won’t buy it otherwise and nor will others who are interested in it but will get ill if they play it.

Gaming companies should provide for as many users as possible. It’s good business sense to do that. Why purposely reduce the amount of copies that could sell?

They already have the character model for melee by the looks of it so there should be little problem implementing for shooting.

  • I deeply respect what the devs are doing. This is the only sci-fi setting in years (including the last game), which feels real (what is kinda the purpose of sci-fi). I’d like larger focus on RPG elements, or a spin-off X-Com style, but please keep going. You, and WItcher devs seem to be the only ones making truly immersive RPGs.

  • Human revolution is one of the most underated games ever. It’s up there with my fondest gaming memories. That game does things no other did or has done since. Can’t wait for the next one

  • This seems interesting, will I need to play previous entries in order to enjoy it.

    • You only need to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution if you don’t want to miss any of the story. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided continues the story after the events that happen in Human Revolution.
