Drive!Drive!Drive! brings “intelligent stupidity” to PS4 & PS Vita in 2016

Race multiple cars on multiple tracks at the same time

Good afternoon Susan. I trust that your kick-off meeting ran smoothly this morning and that you enjoyed your zesty chicken salad for lunch. Apologies, I am being somewhat presumptuous. Allow me to introduce myself first: my name is Gordon Midwood, I am Head of Everything at Different Cloth and I bring the most excellent news.

Drive!Drive!Drive! – the only racer to offer you the chance to race more than one track at the same time – is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2016!

Furthermore the game is being published by the excellent and mildly erogenous human-based lifeforms at Choice Provisions!

For the uninitiated: Drive!Drive!Drive! is a driving game about racing multiple tracks at the same time. It’s kind of a mixture of arcade racing and track management.

In Drive!Drive!Drive! you must race and manage multiple tracks at the same time. You are able to switch between the different tracks of a race any time you like. When you switch away from a track, a computer racer takes over driving on that track for you.

Unfortunately, the computer racers aren’t what you’d call competent. They are what you’d call incompetent. But in a clever way. In other words, to place well in every track you’re racing you’re going to have to hop from track-to-track on a regular basis to account for the subversively cretinous computer cars. Luckily for you your opponents have been programmed to severely lack in cognitive ability too! This Artificial Idiocy™ is uniquely powered by our Intelligent Stupidity™ engine.

The game will feature an amazing soundtrack by the world’s state-of-the art synth/prog/post-rock band ZOMBI, not to mention those trippy retro/future visuals all the kids are hallucinating over.

Oh, and did we mention it’s set across different galaxies and multiple gravities?

Drive!Drive!Drive! will feature a track creator at its heart allowing you to easily create, play and share your wildest gravity-defying creations. I wonder how would you feel about challenging your friends to race these creations in multiplayer too?

We are so incredibly excited about Drive!Drive!Drive! We cannot wait to bring these multiple races to your PlayStation faces!

  • After watching trailer you had my curiosity.
After saying that it will be also on Vita you have my attention.

Any info on price? 10-15 EUR? 15-20 EUR?

    And 2016 Q1-Q2 or more like Q3-Q4

    • Thanks Archacus glad i have tweaked & peaked your interest already!

We haven’t discussed price yet so I can’t answer the 1st question but the 2nd one I can: more like Q3 or 4 for release!

    • That’s worth a Platinum Trophy alone Gordon. :)

      “Platinum Trophy earned
      Got Archacus’ approval” “PING!!!!”

  • this looks nice and its on vita so yay!!

  • This sounds like it will either be hilariously chaotic fun or a ridiculously frustrating experience. Here’s hoping it turns out to be more of the former!

  • Madness! :D

Love the concept, hope this translates well gameplay-wise.

    • Thanks Wired_Gantz!

Oh it does play nicely you can believe me there – or you can wait to try out the game and make up your own mind.

      The choice is yours!

    • A demo would be a great way to do this. Any chance of that happening?

    • @TrueMurton thanks for the interest, sure there’s a chance, the game is early in development so we haven’t got into that kind of release strategy stuff yet tbh

  • Teaser looks really cool and the art style is also great . Would definitely try this on vita

  • Midwood! Grr! Thou hast bested mine efforts to thwart thy plans before! Shall there be fins on wheels this outing? Are thine expectations for all enjoy this dramatic series of events?

Um… Okay. I’ll bite… But only because your games are fun!

    • Thou hast fayled in thy quest thus far Sir Insanity for I shall forever rise from the ashes of my previous games.

This one has no sharks in it but I can promise it will be a boat load of fun!

      Thanks for the comment :)

  • This looks amazing. Zombi? How did you manage to get them? :)

  • Holy [DELETED], Zombi. You already sold me the game.

  • It looks like the “real” gamers are here, in this blog. Because there is a huge difference between the youtube and blog comments :)

Nevertheless your game looks really cool, i will get it for my Vita :)

    • Ah Alondate31 thanks for the kind words. You are right there – I believe the rule is never read the comments, unless they are on the PS blog – in which case read & respond to all of them!

  • Why not on PS3? :(

    • I guess purely the logistics of putting it on another platform plus the technical constraints of an older machine. Not that I’m completely ruling it out but there are no plans atm, sorry!

    • Technical constraints?! Oh come on! This machine can handle it, don’t worry.

    • It’s more of a fact that the PS3 architecture is vastly different as is much harder to develop for.

  • “Intelligent stupidity” is the right way to pitch this- looks fantastic!

One of the games non-gamers would find extremely odd but regular gamers know will be great fun.

Looking forward to grabbing this for my Vita

  • I didn’t buy a PS4 for these kind of games. If Japan wasn’t there for the PS4 then I would sold it already by now. At least there they understand why people buy a Playstation. Playing exclusive games made for the console and not some cheap ass ports or copies from games we can play on the pc already for years.

The amount of indie games we get, which mostly are just the kind of flash games you could play for free a few years ago, is way too much these days.

    • Comments like this show you have no understanding or appreciation of the gaming industry or where the talent actually comes from

    • I really don’t understand the the anti indie people. Surely more games, and at a range of price points is better than the ever shrinking collection of zero innovation annual blockbusters which continue to increase in price while decreasing in value?

Who in the right mind wants less games for their consoles? It’s madness.

    • @XR-NOFEAR17 There is an easy solution to your quandary – don’t buy the game! Also maybe a bit of Yoga might help?

    • You do realise indie means independent right? It means the developers have creative freedom to make whatever they wish without the harsh dictatorship of a big publisher like EA and Ubisoft.

    • With you on this xr-nofear17 and yawn max whatever lol you copy and pasted that from Google didn’t you.

  • I didn’t really get how the game would work from the trailer and wondered if you’d be controlling 3 cars simultaneously on the stacked tracks but obviously the single car view ruled that out.
Thankfully the post clarified things though I don’t know whether I’d just get irritated by constantly putting up with destructive assistance from the AI :-/

    • Hi MikLSP, well much of the balancing of the single player version of the game is to do with managing the incompetence of those around you for sure, but this should hopefully play out in more of a comedic than irritating fashion – instant restarts and quick races should ease things here too. So far irritation hasn’t been a reaction from those testing early builds – so fingers crossed!

  • Looks Funtresting
    On Vita

  • Normally not a fan of racing games, but have to admit this does look fun. And on the Vita too makes it even better! And like so many other has said: Zombi!

Looking forward to more of this! This is exactly why i really enjoy indie games. Taking a chance on something a bit different.

    • If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you’ve got no place to go, if you’re feeling down
If you’re all alone when the pretty birds have flown
      Honey I’m still free
      Take a chance on me!

    • Gonna do my very best and it ain’t no lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

      Take a chance on me
(That’s all I ask of you honey)
      Take a chance on me

  • Very interesting premise for a game. Looks very unique and original :D

  • Sony I think you should hire Gordon Midwood as your new Community Manager. I spent 20 minutes just reading all the comments because they are hilarious plus he knows how to talk to people LOL (Post 14.3). P.S Love the game trailer buying on PS4 at launch :)

    • Aw shucks PS_TrophyHunter, thanks for the compliments. If I can throw one back at you all the people on the PS Blogs are great too, especially when compared to, for example, YOUTUBE!

    • Goes off to watch a random YouTube video and then read the comments…..eyes burning. Now I wish I hadn’t :)

    • I thought Gordon mid wood was quite insulting to the guy it was just an opinion the guy had, at least on YouTube there are different types of comments some good some bad.

    • @residentSteve Everyone is entitled to their opinions of course – I’m never trying to be rude, always trying to be funny, doesn’t always work out :)

  • You really need to change the design of the Drive! logo, had to double take to actually see it doesn’t say DrivelDrivelDrivel, I’m sure it won’t be, but that is some bad text design right there. Look forward to trying the game out though, good luck with it!

    • Hah! The logo does seem to be quite divisive – I really like it but I understand that a lot of people don’t. Another option would be to change the game completely into some kind of baby teething simulator in order to better accommodate it.
