Call of Duty: Ghosts – Free Onslaught trial starts today

Try four new maps, a new weapon and the first part of the Extinction saga

Your Call of Duty: Ghosts experience gets a little bigger this weekend, as the first downloadable content “Onslaught” free trial begins for our PlayStation fans! The trial begins at 6pm on Friday and ends at 6pm on Monday – simply head to the PlayStation Store during those times to grab your download.

There’s also some great news if you don’t already own Call of Duty: Ghosts – exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, you can get 20% off the PlayStation 3 version of Ghosts from 25th – 28th April. If you pick up your copy this weekend, you’ll also be able to join in with the free Onslaught trial.

Want to know what’s on offer in Onslaught before you download? Here’s a rundown on what to expect from this weekend.

Four new maps come as part of Onslaught – Fog, Bayview, Ignition and Containment. Fog brings in the eeriness of a camp near a lake, and has a fun secret in store for player’s brave enough to complete the map’s Field Orders can discover. Ignition is a map inspired by Scrapyard – one of the fan favourite maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Bayview is set in a Californian boardwalk, offering plenty of vantage points for Snipers and lots of buildings to traverse for players who like to get up close and personal. Bayview also has a moving trolley bus to provide you with some mobile cover. Containment is all about the bridge in the centre of the map, allowing you to fight over the long sight lines between the two sides of the map, or sneak under the bridge to get to the opposing team’s flank.

The Onslaught trial also includes a new weapon – The Maverick. This new weapon let’s you choose the style best for your playstyle, offering both a stable reliable Assault Rifle version and a Sniper Rifle with an advanced scope.

Onslaught also begins the first episode of the four part Extinction story, Nightfall. This new Extinction map introduces two new major enemies, a number of new mechanics, and one of the biggest enemies ever seen in the Call of Duty series – the Breeder.

That’s everything on offer in Onslaught for this special trial weekend – so make sure you set some time aside so you don’t miss it. Let us know what part of Onslaught you’re most looking forward to playing in the comments below – see you online.
