We’re thrilled to finally be able to show you Killzone: Shadow Fall‘s multiplayer! We’ll go into details about the game’s exciting multiplayer features in a moment but first, have a look at our brand-new Gamescom multiplayer trailer to get a taste of the action.

Just like in the single player campaign, Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer gives you the freedom to play the game exactly how you want. Using the new customizable Warzone features demonstrated in the trailer, you can pick the number of players (4-24), rules, mission modes, classes, abilities and weapons you want to allow in a match, then save these choices as a preset to share with the rest of the Shadow Fall community.

With an ever-evolving selection of Warzone presets, you’ll have no trouble finding fresh and challenging online matches in Killzone: Shadow Fall. In addition, the community team will regularly highlight interesting new Warzone presets and introduce new options to customize and play with by means of expansion packs.

That’s not all, of course – we’ve worked hard to make sure Killzone: Shadow Fall will be a fun, competitive multiplayer experience that’s easy to get into, but difficult to master. There are now eight different rotating mission modes, four of which are new to Killzone: Shadow Fall. The game has three classes with unique abilities and 22 different weapons – all unlocked from the get-go, so you can determine for yourself how and in which order you want to specialise.

We’ve also redesigned our progression system to work with challenges rather than XP. There are over 1500 increasingly difficult challenges to complete in Killzone: Shadow Fall multiplayer, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to prove your skills and collect rewards. To increase longevity even further, we plan to continue support for the title well after launch – and yes, DLC multiplayer maps will be released free of charge to ensure everyone can play!

  • Killzone: Shadow Fall is amazing! Great work on the MP part, Guerrilla. Definitely hyped for this!

  • Looks good until you watch the Titanfall videos and you realise it’s dull as dishwater.

  • Oh + Any chance of bringing ‘Killzone: Liberation’ to the PS3(or PS4) as a HD update with Trophies? Just a thought;)

  • This game still doesn’t excite me to the slightest, while the graphics and physics look better than anything on ps3, I still dont see that big enough leap yet to justify buying a PS4 yet

  • After playing KZ2, KZ3 and the Killzone Mercs beta I can say that you really suck at map design and weapon and class balance.

    Stop focusing on graphics.

    Will be skipping Shadowfall.

  • Like most KZ2 vets, I’m disappointed that you’ve stuck with the 24 man games instead of bringing back the 32 player chaos of the good ol’ days!

    However, game does look a vast improvement on KZ3.

    Slightly worried by only 3 classes?? I hope my beloved sniper remains, and has returned to the dignity of KZ2 standards, rather than the campers dream from KZ3.

    Glad to see an expansion on the challenges, being the first person in the world to complete all of KZ3 challenges, I’ll eagerly hunt those down (hopefully some will be trophy related too, as KZ3’s trophy list was far too easy in comparison to KZ2!)

    Overall, happy, and excited. Just booked a week off work from Nov 29th! ;)

  • @Shinoda_2qx, 3 classes yes, but you’ll likely have more customization options (especially since all of the weapons are unlocked from the start).

    I’ve got the game pre-ordered, looking forward to getting my hands on it!

  • @Siegririth, I understand what you mean, and judging by the transition of KZ2>KZ3, they reduced the number of classes by merging the basic soldier (lmgs) with the engineer, and merged the saboteur with assault to make infiltrators. So I’d expect something like:

    Engineer + Infiltrator, Tact + Medic, Sniper = 3 broad classes. I just hope it doesn’t take away from the unique feel of the KZ series.

    Also pre-ordered, so I’ll see you in the Zone :)

  • Could anyone please confirm something that was said in the “20 things you didn’t know about PS4” video, which was posted on this blog on 12th July. The exact quote is as follows:

    “You can nominate one PS4 as your home machine and your content is always available on that device, even to other users. That includes Playstation Plus membership.”

    Now does this mean that myself and my wife (who obviously share a home console but have separate SEN accounts) can both play online multiplayer on our own profiles whilst only paying for one Plus membership?
    If so, then Sony is even more brilliant than I already think they are.
