Press X to ninja – Warframe is coming to PS4

25 0

Do you like ninjas? What if they were in space? What if you could slash enemies, blast them with guns and obliterate them with crazy exo-armor powers? Would you like to level-up, build a Space Dojo with your friends and hang out, dueling each other and trading wall-running stories? Good news! Warframe is your ticket to all of that and its coming to PlayStation 4, for free, at launch! Not only that… we’ll be showing the world Warframe on PS4 next week at E3 (gulping Tums as we speak)!

Warframe on PS4

Our team has been polishing the demo and cramming in as much as we can to ‘wow’ everyone who gets there hands on it at E3! On Friday we showed the rest of our development studio Warframe on PS4 for the first time and the reaction was unanimous – 1080p Warframe is smooth and beautiful! Like kids with new toys, playing with the PS4’s toolbox of goodies has our minds spinning with design ideas for Warframe

Warframe on PS4

I love the new DualShock. The triggers feel awesome and the touch pad is a sweet addition. Right now, we’re using the touch pad to activate your crazy Warframe powers on the run with a flick of your thumb or finger. Want to lunge and smash with your Rhino Warframe? Swipe your thumb up on the touch pad and you’ll charge like a battering ram into a group of helpless enemies.

Warframe on PS4

One of the cool things about Warframe is the Alerts system – throughout the day, missions of opportunity come up and players can squad-up for stellar rewards. To get these notifications when you’re away from the system, we have created an iOS and Android Companion App called the Warframe Nexus. Players can customise their alert settings to show them only the missions and rewards they’re interested in, and while it’s very useful, it’s only the beginning for the Nexus.

Well, I’m off to play the latest build and get my Ninja on (the start screen on our demo literally says “Press X to ninja”). I hope you check out our new trailer and stay tuned for more details throughout the summer on Warframe!

  • Game looks good so I think I will check it out on PC and then dowloand on PS4 as soon as it gets there :D.
    BTW FIRST :P!!!

  • I have a question, but why is the companion app, Warframe Nexus, not being made for the PSV?

I find that to be quite strange.

  • That CGI trailer was absolutely insane! The animation was A1.

I could watch a feature length adaptation of that. 8-)

I believe the trailer is in-engine, no CGI.

  • I cannot help but notice that the guy who falls out of the pod in the video is named Tenno, the same name as the protagonist from Dark Sector. Is there any kind of fiction continuity between the two games (Warframe does have a certain stylistic similarity to the the original reveal of Dark Sector), or is it just a little Easter Egg?

Anyway, going by that trailer the game looks pretty cool, but I probably will not end up playing it much if at all as I am just more of a single player gamer rather than multi-player. Are there any plans for a single player component of the game?

Lastly, this use of the word “ninjas” has to stop. The plural of “ninja” is “ninja”, like how “sheep” is both singular and plural.

  • Game looks pretty cool. This will probably be my first f2p game, so I’ll definitely keep an eye on it.

  • @Lailiel really? Then WOW! Roll on the PS4!!

  • Wow this game looks class!! Can’t wait to see it at E3. May I ask why this game is free? Looks awesome and would have happily paid for it.

  • I want to support new I.P’s, but this looks like a PS3 trailer. I can’t see anything in Warframe that can’t be done with existing technology (in fact it looks worse than some of this years titles). Not that that’s a problem though. It’s not all about the graphics.

But I can foresee the reviews already, complaining about the atrocious A.I. A four player co-op game is okay, but for those of us that prefer to play as single player I guess we’re screwed. It’s hard enough to succeed in developing good A.I for one NPC (Last of Us, Infinity etc), but successful 3 NPC partner A.I’s is almost mythical.

But fingers crossed the A.I will be able to achieve more than just walk into walls and get stuck on scenery. Warframe does need some serious polish though.

  • Edit:
Sorry, have I misinterpreted what Warframe is about? Is this an MMO style game, with no companion A.I’s?

If so…cool. Warframe is sounding 100x better already.

(On a side not, I wish we could edit out posts. This is 2013, not 1995)

  • The more day 1 PS4 variety of games the better i say :P

  • 9
It’s probably free to play online but you still have to buy it.
+ lvl cap which u have to pay to unlock. Common thouse days :/

  • The gameplay reminds me a little of Vanquish.

Great to see this as a free-to-play title, especially at launch. I’m sure you’ll get a fair amount of interest.
I really like the idea of mobile event notifications too, it’ll be interesting to see where that leads.

  • @OBEY-666
Wrong, it costs nothing. Warframe isn’t Defiance.

Check Youtube, there are plenty videos of the PC version there. The PS4 version won’t really look any different.

  • @1 GROW UP FOOL i h8 ppl who post 1st they are childish. BTW I WAS FIRST NOT YOU (C) HA!

  • Not sure about this but at the end of the day it’s free to play so theres no harm in trying it and it may be something i really like. It does look like a nice game and posts saying it looks like a ps3 game are a little off the mark.

you calling someone childish, hmmm theres something ironic about that but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

  • @Golwar
Well I was thinking about free to play like uncharted bit whatever
Maybe Mr Steven Sinclair would like to clarify that ?
    Yes ? No ?
    I got a feeling that he won’t.

  • I really enjoy the PC version of this game, but I only ever play it on other people’s laptops, as it won’t run on mine.

Will the PS4 version be able to play online with the PC version? I would be extremely excited if it works cross-system…

  • I thought I’d take the liberty to reply to everyone’s questions here, as I’ve played from beta-1 and am really REALLY happy to see this come to PS4!
    so without further-a-diddle.

    @THE_FORCE #3
    @LAILIEL #5

~Can Confirm this IS in-game gameplay, this is slightly less than the PC Version but still very tasty.

    @MaceStation #6

~Unfortunately This has no relation to Dark Sector, though, I good guess.
The TENNO, are a group of agents against the Grineer (people you see in this film and Corpus (adaptable robots)
    The TENNO in this are:

altogether there are 13 TENNO THUS far! New ones are releasing quite often.

The game works by drop in drop out you can currently play:

    multi private

    @ dark_angel69 #9
The Game Devs have made this game FORVER F2P with an optional micro-transaction service, which is more like a ‘timesaver’ system so you really do not need to pay into the game, there is no PVP so no pay to win it’s all about the team work.

(you can build new frames and pets, weapons etc)

  • @ Scuffy_P #11
Each frame can have an AI companion that can aid their battle ( eg.turn you invisible in enemy presence)
the game is like an RPG Dungeon Crawler up to 4-player co-op.

I hope this helps, I recommend everyone try this on pc if you’re interested, the game play is quite open to play how you want (guns a blaze or stealth)

VERY much a Friend game, so grab 3 friends to play with, there’s lots of fun to be made with this, and the game has come across so fast in a ~year
    I hope this helps people.
if you have any more question about it, feel free to message me on PSN

  • @OBEY-666
Afaik everything is free or can be gained ingame for free, besides additional slots for weapons or warframes.
So you can really enjoy pretty much everything for free, but it will cost you a lot of time and effort to get the best stuff.

If you are willed to pay with real money instead, the game isn’t cheap at all though. If you’d decide to purchase everything, you’d pay a whole lot more than the standard 60€. But once more, you don’t have to.

  • oh god looks like they are gonna bombard the ps4 with mediocre f2p/p2w/microtransactions games already from the beginning. This doesnt remotely count as launch games for me. Also if they plan to hardcode these games on the PS4 XMB like Singstar id rather stay away from the next gen

  • hey hey

    No app for WP8 ?

  • Looks pretty decent. Maybe there is hope for free-to-play yet..
