Behind the scenes with Wonderbook: Book of Spells

We are nearly a month from launch now – you can mostly tell that from the mix of excitement and exhaustion in our offices… but above all we cannot wait to bring this product to households from mid-November.

Continuing on the ‘Making of’ series for Wonderbook: Book of Spells, our second instalment tells the story of how the structure of the book was put together.

Of course, the book itself is from the world of Harry Potter – and is the result of our first creative collaboration with J.K. Rowling. Book of Spells is a spellbook that teaches a student wizard over 20 spells, including Lumos and Wingardium Leviosa. However, with this book you get much more than just that.

Learning to cast the gestures, utter the incantations and practise your newly acquired abilities is the practical part of the tuition you receive when you start to learn. There are also little histories or ‘anecdotes’ that the book will relay to you, showing what happens when you use a spell incorrectly, or sometimes the origin of the spell. Featuring brand new writing from J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells is an interactive reading experience that the whole family will enjoy.

If you have not yet managed to get your hands on Wonderbook: Book of Spells at one of our events, then sit back and let our London Studio developers explain what happens when you turn the page for the first time.
