New pricing changes to PlayStation Plus 12-Month plans.
It’s a new month, with a new lineup of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September. The Monthly Games lineup of Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition and Generation Zero will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, September 5 until Monday, October 2.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the games in turn.

Saints Row | PS4, PS5
Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created. The unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive and wingsuit your way to the top. Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets. Play online with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action.

Black Desert – Traveler Edition | PS4
Find your calling in this open-world fantasy MMORPG which boasts fast-paced PvE combat, large-scale PvP siege wars, multiple character classes and combat types to specialize in. You can also choose to dedicate yourself to a variety of pursuits, such as trade, fishing, horse training, alchemy, cooking, and gathering. The Traveler Edition is a bundle of the base game and multiple add-ons*.
*Those add-ons collectively constitute The Traveler Item Pack, which is also available on PlayStation Store as a separate download. PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert cannot redeem the full Traveler Edition bundle from PlayStation Plus. However, PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item Pack from PlayStation Plus, instead.

Generation Zero
This first-person open world adventure is set in a familiar but hostile open world of 1980s Sweden. Battle and survive deadly machine enemies alone or with three friends in seamless online co-op as you discover the truth behind what’s happened to the region. You must choose your battles wisely as you engage in adrenaline-pumping guerilla combat against these mechanical forces. Scavenge parts from your fallen enemies and use them to craft equipment, weapons and ammunition. Build and fortify your own bases across the island and start taking back your home.

Not only will I not be coming back to PS Plus, I’m going to sell my PS5. This isn’t the same Sony that I grew to love.
#boycottpsplus $80 for online games
is f king too much
What disturbed mind came up with the idea to increase the value of subscriptions in such a wild way??? This is all a joke!
Look, if the VR2 has been a commercial disaster, there was no need for ordinary users to pay the consequences. I just don’t understand it, Playstation has had more than positive numbers for hardware and software sales. Why the hell shoot yourself in the feet and make users angry?
This is a joke right? You can’t be serious about rasing the price without adding anything to compensate the price increase?
Why are we paying for this…?
I was honestly really excited to get into the PS5 generation since it looked like the PS4 generation was so good, one of those reasons being super pro-consumer! But honestly, with what’s happening now with these price increases on games + services I’m extremely disappointed as a new person to the PlayStation ecosystem. I really hope Sony backpedals on this decision, it’s such bad timing when Saints Row is the game you get for simply paying to play online.
More crap. Why are we paying for this…?!
Wow, crazy. Actually, I found this one weird trick to discount my subscription all the down to $0! All you gotta do is go to subscription management and click this little button that says “Cancel”. I’ll be saving $120(or I guess $160 now) come next renewal period! Try it out and see for yourself!
This is unacceptable and robbery. The line up of games does not co.e close to justify this price increase. I’m a casual gamer and my controllers are already starting to ha e stick drift. And from what I’ve read I’m not the only one having problems with this. I had my ps4 for 6-7 years and in all that time never once did I have issues with my controllers and at that time I gamed way more. I’m not sure what is going on with you Sony but you have me seriously considering switching my gaming platform. And I just bought a second ps5 for my daughter this last week and I’m really starting to wonder if this was a good investment. I hope through all the feedback you take a good look at all of the concerns of your customers. And rethink some of your choices. Because we will be!
🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️WE WILL NOT BE BUYING🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
When can we expect confirmation of the price hike for Canada? With the exchange rate at present the USD converts to $216 CND per year for Premium. That amounts to more than a 50% (!) increase from the current $140 sub.
This could’ve been implemented so much better than what it was. Articulating clearly *how* this significant price hike would be leveraged for PlayStation would’ve been a good start. This was planned internally awhile back, so why wasn’t the Sea of Stars launch rejigged as support for more day 1 high quality launch titles and better support than we’ve seen in years for indies? It could’ve been pushed as “with this price change, we can bring more high quality indies like X, and more of the AAA games you love”.
Instead todays Essential lineup was pretty lack lustre for reasons already stated by so many fans. Tacking on the price hike at the end of this blog was pretty shameful and an obvious effort to bury the lede. Why customers weren’t given this information weeks or months ago instead of just days furthers the impression that Sony isn’t concerned in the slightest with any pushback. The close of this blog with a link to cancelling your sub clearly tells us the intended take away message for customers: “if you don’t like it, there’s the door”.
Sony just likes taking L after L lately. A massive price increase along with another terrible offering of games. Looks like I won’t be renewing this year and be playing my ps5 very sparingly (SM-2,Rebirth) and sticking mostly to PC. Hope the backlash from this big because you very much deserve it Sony, you’re long over due for a wake up call.
These price changed are an egregious display of corporate greed. It’s especially galling that, at current exchange rates, the new price for the Essential tier in USD works out to the same as the Extra tier in JPY.
I’ve been a subscriber since the PS3 era because the service provided good value in my opinion. This drastically changes the value proposition of the service and I will be reconsidering my expenditures accordingly. I hardly think that I am alone.
Price increases are inevitable especially with any subscription based service that we all put up with these days, but increasing 12 months by $20, $35 and $40 respectively? That is absolutely disgusting. A small/reasonable increase is one thing, but these type of amounts are completely out of line on so many levels. As someone who has been an avid Playstation user since the original PS1, I’m saddened to see where things have got to now. Especially in a time where people are struggling financially more than ever, this is a real slap in the face. Pure, unadulterated greed.
And………… PS Plus cancelled. It’s not worth it. Not a good move.
Seriously a $20 bump? WTF!?! when my subscription ends, i will turn to PC, you guys think you can get away with this because you think you’re superior to xbox…total BS…the line up is seriously BS as well. NO THANKS!
This price increase is absolutely ridiculous. It doesn’t help that September’s essential games are mediocre to trash at best.
Was $60 to $120 not enough for you? Sure, you discount stuff on Black Friday but it’ll still be more then what it was previously. Absolutely disappointed.
“This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service” they said. Ha it is a lie. You did not bring anything new on the table. Monthly games are trash, you cannot download ps1-ps3 games on your ps4 to play them instead of streaming and yet you dare to increase the price. I am sorry I am ps fan but this is a no for me. My subscription will end next year. I guess I am not gonna continue to subscribe even if there is sale of 50 percent off on black friday or boxing day. Sony is screwing their costumers over and over. Glad I subscribed more on Nintendo Online Expansion Pack Rather than this. You just lost a lot of customer because of this. I just hope a lot of people will cancel their membership and not continue their membership with you.
👏 well said!
