It’s a new month, with a new lineup of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September. The Monthly Games lineup of Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition and Generation Zero will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, September 5 until Monday, October 2.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the games in turn.

Black Desert – Traveler Edition | PS4

Find your calling in this open-world fantasy MMORPG which boasts fast-paced PvE combat, large-scale PvP siege wars, multiple character classes and combat types to specialize in. You can also choose to dedicate yourself to a variety of pursuits, such as trade, fishing, horse training, alchemy, cooking, and gathering. The Traveler Edition is a bundle of the base game and multiple add-ons*.

*Those add-ons collectively constitute The Traveler Item Pack, which is also available on PlayStation Store as a separate download. PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert cannot redeem the full Traveler Edition bundle from PlayStation Plus. However, PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item Pack from PlayStation Plus, instead.

Generation Zero

Battle and survive deadly machine enemies alone or with three friends in seamless online co-op as you discover the truth behind what’s happened to the region. You must choose your battles wisely as you engage in adrenaline-pumping guerilla combat against these mechanical forces. Scavenge parts from your fallen enemies and use them to craft equipment, weapons and ammunition. Build and fortify your own bases across the island and start taking back your home.

  • I honestly don’t know how I feel about this increase!! There are others parts that could be improved to make the price increase more meaningful. Until I see it actually be worth the increase. I will wait a year to see if it is worth it, because that mean indie games should have more things they need to produce on your console along with more games being able to provide games on your console. Only time will tell….

  • Is there any way we can contact Jim Ryan directly? Because this is ANTI-CONSUMER BS!

  • Hyped as heck to play all these bangers. Let’s go! 🔥

  • Honestly, this is not cool. It is not even a small increase, it is 20 bucks on the essential. 40 on extra and 40 on the premium. This is insane plus you don’t even add more benefit in any tier, expecially the essential that overall it is just to play multiplayer and have some free useless monthly games that most of the time are not appetizing. Honestly I don’t care about the stupid plus free games, do a tier for people who are only about nultiplayer and thats it. 40 bucks per year and if othe r people want extra they’ll pay for it.

  • So Xbox is releasing their biggest game in a decade, and your response is 3 garbage games and upping your price 35% a month. This is a spit in the face to your loyal customers.

    • Agreed. Pretty crazy right!. I expected something big from Sony this month to keep the attention here on Sony and away from stiff competition. But they make a move that pushes consumers away. It’s like they’re blind, and deaf.

  • I used to love playing games online on playing but when I saw this. Time to end my Playstation plus and time to sell my ps5 great Sony you messed up big time

  • Es un robo ese aumentó, por qué no mejor lo pone en pesos mexicanos y ya no volveré a psplus

  • How can a player add a comment to these news without being a jerk

  • Increased the price will cause to losing a lot of subscription until the Black Friday because the discount and now mostly will stay to play on PC with free cloud save and free online. Also on Xbox because the free cloud save.

Now everybody start canceling the PS Plus because someone gonna fired for increasing the prices.

  • Well, not that it matters I pose I had already turned off auto renew for membership … it might make a difference to Sony

  • Subscribed continuously and uninterrupted since day one… but this has gone to far, enough is enough. I’m sorry, I’m canceling at the end of this year’s renewal. It’s been a pleasure, thank you, but I’m out.

  • Wow what a surprise.,.a $20.00 increase for basic ps plus..I hope they select better games in the coming months..bc I know lots of ppl will not be able to stomach the increase…

  • Just logging on to let you know you can go to hell with these disgusting price rises Sony. There’s absolutely zero justification jacking up prices and fleecing your customer base to that extent. I’ll not be renewing my subscription when it expires.

  • “This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits…”

Honestly, what benefits? We literally ONLY want online play and cloud save syncing. That’s it. The “free” rentals are not the “value” being touted.

  • You noticed that Sony didn’t put the Canadian prices up. Because even Sony doesn’t want to show a $200+ sub option.

    • I’m agitated as the last straw from a USA customer perspective. I can’t imagine the insanity of my Canadian neighbors. Or even worse, those in Australia or Brazil… This global move hopefully hurts Playstation subscriber count enough to make them realize the fatal error in such a move. I’m not holding my breath, though, as I’ve run out of any chances to gove Sony Playstation after this incident.

PC is looking more appealing every day.

  • $80 Just to be able to play online? That’s insane. How about you add a tier that allows you to play online but you don’t get free games each month? I’d be fine with that since I almost never play any of the free games that get added each month.

  • Woah! That is a massive price hike o_O. After having the highest tier for over a year I would say that at this new price, Premium is absolutely not worth it unfortunately. Cloud gaming being limited to consoles is just stupid. Why can’t I play those games on my phone yet?

  • Good job, Sony! I’m selling my PS5 and I’m upgrading my PC video card. Should have done it a year ago to be honest.

  • Wow this is just preposterous. A $40 increase for a service. What in the world.

  • Extra tier is going to cost 6 € more than Premium current subscription, Premium is going to cost about one third of a PS5 console if buying it on current sale.
At least I was expecting some quality stuff in this month line-up, since you write that “price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games”. And what do we get? Generation Zero (PS4): Metascore 45, User Score 5.9. Black Desert (PS4): Metascore 61, User Score 3.8. Saints Row 2022 (PS5): Metascore 61, User Score 2.9. Three Trash Games. Honestly it seems like Sony is trying to test our patience, until we all cancel PS Plus subscriptions.

  • Nobody likes this.
I get that it doesn’t matter (yet), but too many disappointments in a row can rapidly change one’s market position.

  • Auto Renew set to Off

You want $40 more for Premium and give so little in return.
I blindly paid for two years of Premium thinking there would be Classics to play?

    Goodbye

  • These prices are not reflective of the quality of games we’ve been receiving.

  • ‪You’re increasing the cost by 30% or more on yearly PS subscriptions and this is the garbage Sony is giving us for September! This is a huge slap in the consumers face! Gamepass is only getting better looking!

  • I just bought a PS and I bought a month of PS Plus to start with, the price already seemed excessive in my country, it’s more expensive than the game pass and with this increase I’m sure I’ll stop paying it

  • As many people have mentioned here, I will not renew my subscription once it expires later this year. This price adjustment is not worth it, especially given the quality of games that have been offered recently. For $135, I could buy two AAA titles at full price each year that I actually want to play, rather than hoping for Sony to add some good games to the extra tier. It’s just sad, considering I have been a long-time subscriber to PS Plus.

  • Jim Ryan is out of his mind if he thinks premium is worth that price. Sony has gone from free online to most expensive in just one console generation. I’ll be canceling

  • Let’s not mince words… this is an awful money grab.

I can pay $20 a year to play my switch online and have cloud saves. That’s value and priced right.

I bit the bullet and bought the premium tier during a sale last year, and while it’s nice to have a collection of games, it’s not $135 a year nice. I’m likely just going to let my PSplus subscription lapse once it’s up, because at this price point, it’s not worth it. Money is tight everywhere, and this isn’t a justifiable purchase anymore. I’ll just stick to buying physical games when they go on sale for $30.

  • So much of good will gets hurt by the price increase, I get the price increase for premium subs what’s hard to digest is the $20 increase for those of us with the Base sub that’s Essential because all we wanted was just access to multiplayer and cloud saves. Hope they can branch out and offer a much lower package that just offers online multiplayer and cloud saves, I don’t need those 2-3 free games that’s sometimes lackluster in the offering.

    • Totaly agry
      I wil leave sony 100%

Do beter ore by by always

    No to ps abo rise
    You are lunatics like activision
Also why i did quit cod

  • Holy crap that is one hell of a price increase. I’m definitely dropping down to the Essential tier at least. Only reason I’d probably not drop it is so I can play some games with some of my friends. If they didn’t only play on PlayStation I’d drop the entire membership.

I love my PS5 and enjoy games Sony puts out but this is a joke.

  • So your competition releases their biggest game in a decade, and your response is 3 horrible games and a 35% price increase. What a spit in the face to your loyal customers

  • Ok, it’s time to put your to sleep. Barely use your toaster anymore. Stick it far up Jim Ryan’s a$$.

  • Wow Sony not only delivering low quality games on essential but also raising the prices???? If you want to worsen the image of PlayStation plus and PlayStation as a whole then good job bro!

  • Been a PS+ subscriber since the PS3 despite being mainly a PC gamer, at first the value was great but year after it has become harder to justify the cost and I think this is the breaking point. The Essential-tier has become real bad and was barely worth it (well, actually not really tbh) at the old price during a sale. Not a chance now.

Actually this might lead to me reconsidering if I even need a PS5 at all, not been using it a lot lately anyway.

  • $134.99? I already got PS Plus Extra and you’re telling me that you are raising the 12-month plan for $134.99? And Premium 12-Month tier for $159.99? That tells you why how anti-consuming works for Sony products. Good luck with that because people are going to have a field day and they are not happy. Lyin Cryin Jim Ryan is at it again.

  • No no no
    Refuse to renew

  • Yeah I’m definitely sacking ps+ after my current subscription finishes, read the room sony, we need an option of a basic online only ps+ ( which is ridiculous, pay a new console, pay £70 per game and oh I can’t forget the £60+ every few month for your state of the art dualsense now can I lol, I’m a day 1 ps5 owner and I’m on my 5th control pad due to the shoddy stick drift ). Honestly your service is a joke compared to gamepass and 1st party games dropping on day 1 to make it even better just shows how ripped off ps players really are! Offer a basic sub, with cloud saves and online gaming ( again as ridiculous as that is ) but you won’t, we all know the subs would sway to the basic online service and you’d lose millions. Sony are so anti consumer now it’s laughable, honestly I’m closer than ever to buying an xbox than ever, do better sony!

  • Follow-up comment: Thank you PlayStation, you’ve made me feel a lot better about using my new Steam Deck to play PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and PS Vita games.

I imagine this idea had to cross Jim Ryan’s desk… PlayStation needs to get in front of this and get rid of this man. He is ruining the brand.

  • “Add a comment! But don’t be a jerk!” it says as they hike the prices by 20$, 35$, and 40$ respectively.

I was going to bite the bullet and pay the 120$, but…160$? You must be out your mind. What are we getting that justifies this price increase? corporations. Smh. :\

  • Last few months have been trash for myself. Will wait on the Extra and Premium announcements.

  • They need a basic plan if their prices are increasing. I do not use their service yet I’m being forced to pay for it. Like buying a pizza when you only want 1 piece.

    • Nintendo’s current model for Switch Online is exactly right. Basic functionality for base price with an option to upgrade it for folks who want to. THAT is how you do “value-added benefits.”

  • First time I leave a comment, and it’s a shame that I have to do it to express my discontent and disappointment at the price increase of any of the subscriptions. I will not renew when my subscription ends. I consider that adding $35 for the extra is unfair and an abuse on your part. It is not about whether or not I have money to pay, but this is a question of principles and morals. I will not support a company that abuses its players.

Since most of the games I play are single player, I’m going to wait a year or two when the games I like are cheap. Most single player games are on sale and I can get them for $15 or less. That would be 9 to 13 games a year that would be mine without depending on a subscription.

I’m going to miss playing online games, but it’s not the end of the world either.

  • I won’t renew my subscription once it runs out. I just want to play online and you *force* me to pay for this subscription which I actually never wanted. I never wanted “free” games.
Even the old price was way too high IMO. Guess I’ll have to play more on PC where I don’t have to pay anything for playing online.

  • The game lineup is not bad and the price increase is not even that bad

    Guys get with the game

    sony is doing something good

  • As a playstation 5 owner this price increase is insane, Sony you are going to lose a lot of playstation subs with this in my opinion and all your live service games you are creating will fail, so reconsider this increase, as customers we don’t get anything extra with this price increase it’s a joke

  • I’ve been playing Playstation since the original PSX and always upgrade each generation. I enjoyed VR and supported it through its slow development
Since the release of the PS5 and the price increases on hardware including PSVR 2 I’m left feeling somewhat underwhelmed.
The revamped ps+ initially looked promising but it never improved from day 1 and has gradually gotten worse. Now the additional increase in price to over €150.00 leaves a very bitter taste.
It seems Sony is looking ahead and realising that although it’s winning in console sales, it’s future is looking rocky as Microsoft has consolidated their monthly subscription for Game Pass and furthermore have secured some of the biggest software developers for what will undoubtedly be the next generation streaming services. PlayStation really does seem to be falling behind in looking to the future and I for one will not be paying extra for this lackluster service in order for them to keep playing catch up.

  • You guys have been scraping the bottom of the barrel for months! I’m pretty sure it’s about worn through.

I’m having a harder and harder time every month justifying the subscription when the offerings are this bad.

  • My sub to extra expires in Dec. I’m not renewing even if you offer a discount. Sick of how lazy & greedy you are. No backwards compatibility, no Starfield but want to price gouge while making record breaking profits. Series S may be in my future this holiday as I transfer away. And totally won’t be buying a PS6.

  • this is dumb. if they wanted to more subscribers/money, they should lower the costs. (catch more bees with honey than vinegar proverb)
my thought would be to eliminate the essential tier and make the extra tier the true tier with the essential and extra tier offerings at a more affordable price perhaps the $79.99.
the essential price could be $135 price.
there should only be two tiers for true value.
i feel like the increase of services would satisfy? even with a less than stellar month of IGC.

yes add-ons/dlc to a free game or previously provided game shouldn’t count to the IGC number. playstation plus members used to get free dlc in the past all of the time as an added bonus.

sony should not want to alienate there customers when they are winning the war or when the competition is launching a game which could drive the user base away. poor timing.
    just my thoughts.
