New pricing changes to PlayStation Plus 12-Month plans.

It’s a new month, with a new lineup of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September. The Monthly Games lineup of Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition and Generation Zero will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, September 5 until Monday, October 2.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the games in turn.

Saints Row | PS4, PS5

Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created.  The unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive and wingsuit your way to the top. Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets. Play online with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action.

Black Desert – Traveler Edition | PS4

Find your calling in this open-world fantasy MMORPG which boasts fast-paced PvE combat, large-scale PvP siege wars, multiple character classes and combat types to specialize in. You can also choose to dedicate yourself to a variety of pursuits, such as trade, fishing, horse training, alchemy, cooking, and gathering. The Traveler Edition is a bundle of the base game and multiple add-ons*.

*Those add-ons collectively constitute The Traveler Item Pack, which is also available on PlayStation Store as a separate download. PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert cannot redeem the full Traveler Edition bundle from PlayStation Plus. However, PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item Pack from PlayStation Plus, instead.

Generation Zero

This first-person open world adventure is set in a familiar but hostile open world of 1980s Sweden. Battle and survive deadly machine enemies alone or with three friends in seamless online co-op as you discover the truth behind what’s happened to the region. You must choose your battles wisely as you engage in adrenaline-pumping guerilla combat against these mechanical forces. Scavenge parts from your fallen enemies and use them to craft equipment, weapons and ammunition. Build and fortify your own bases across the island and start taking back your home.

Last chance to download August’s Monthly Games

PlayStation Plus members have until Monday, September 4 to add PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams and Death’s Door to their game library.

  • You must be insane if you think this is a good idea. Don’t do it. Seriously. Don’t. Nobody sees the benefit of adding so much money to a subscription that barely has features that people want. It’s like telling us to just accept that you want more without giving anything in return right now.

  • This is really bad sport. Why such a huge increase in cost, and you let everyone know with a footnote only a week or so before? Ps extra seemed good value to begin with but it’s quality has been rapidly declining. Ps premium was a complete wasted opportunity. I certainly won’t be renewing at those prices once my current sub expires.

  • I’m actually baffled by this decision. What on earth are you thinking Sony? Your going to see a massive spike in cancellations and adding more value won’t even save you either. The cost is just too high, period! Iv been a continuous subscriber of PS Plus since PS3 days when you use to only give out minis and indie games. There has been a lot of ups and downs over the years but iv stuck with it. This time i am DONE! A price hike this big without any explanation or some kind of justification is crazy business practice. It almost seems like some kind of self sabotage, I’m at a loss.

  • This a joke right? I played your consoles long time with PS3 without subscriptions to go online, and on PS4 I have to be online by having ps plus. I usually do a yearly thing to play, but now this increasing the subscription? YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! What is the god dang improvements? I don’t want something cost more and more. I was thinking of getting a game, but hearing this just crazy. You better keep it same price, or at least let us go play multiplayer without ps plus, so we don’t have to by that much.

  • Ahahahahahahahaha-

Wait, you’re serious? Yeah no that price increase is a total scam. Look forward to a lot of subscription cancellations soon, Sony.

  • You better have a good reason other than inflation for increasing the prices of PS Plus. I already pay for Extra, you better give amazing new benefits if you want to charge $35 MORE than what it already is. It’s hard enough to pay my bills and now you greedy losers want to gouge even more from people like me who play games as an escape from reality. PATHETIC.

  • Glad I got a couple of years at the Summer Sale. Good to 26. We’ll reconsider then since there will probably be another price hike before then.

Let it all out folks. Tell them you are angry and then re-up later. Sony doesn’t care about the vocal minority, only the millions of sheep who won’t even notice this as their sub auto-renews (and frankly, they don’t care about them either) on their (or Dad’s) credit card. Sony sees its customers as ATMs gladly paying whatever Sony charges. Why? Because if it looks like a sheep and acts like a sheep (even a noisy one)…

Since Sony really doesn’t have any competition anymore (Switch is it’s own thing, XBox is done) until people really vote with their wallets, just get used to this happening over and over and over…

Until then, keep on going like you think Sony cares what you say…

  • thank´s Sony for give me a good reason to change plus to gamepass

  • Why pay $80 per year for a single console to access online multiplayer? Even worse, game saves and DLC codes are still region-locked to this day. Those of us who have moved overseas, or purchased a “region-free” game from another country, are forced to create multiple region-specific accounts. As an American living in Poland, I won’t be renewing my US subscription next year.

In comparison, Steam charges $0 per year for online multiplayer and cloud saves; while all games, save files, and DLC codes are region-free. Nintendo charges $20 per year for a single account, or $35 for a family membership up to 5 people; and all games, save files, and DLC codes are region-free. I can’t see anyone justifying purchasing multiple subscriptions just to be able to play multiplayer together from different consoles.

  • Sony’s about to FA:FO with those PS+ price increases. The PlayStation division has been doing the heavy lifting for Sony as a company lately. It would be a whopper of an unforced error if they killed the goose laying the golden eggs for them. And given the presently proposed 25-30% price increase, I expect more than a few people are gonna vote with their wallets. I’ve been with PS+ since 2009 or 2010 and I may just be one of them.

Perhaps Sony’s hoping to fund more studio acquisitions on the backs of its live service subscribers?

  • Hey, screw you Sony! Add me to the list of people dropping down from Premium.

  • I was happy to get the premium for the last 2 years but with this increase i will not be renewing come the time

  • What are you doing?

  • Absolutely ridiculous. Raising prices without raising quality or actual services is a slap in the face to your customer base. The fact we can’t back up our own saves on the PS5 and therefor MUST sub to get some peace of mind is already bad enough, but to then raise prices and literally have nothing in exchange for that increase? Bad move. Time to go full PC.

  • this is not good specially for someone who helps family members pay for theirs

  • Sony. This is a very bad move. $80 just to play online is crazy

  • How far away from reality and out of touch are you with your customer fan base! This service has always been extremely lack luster. Now you want more money for the same basic product. The only real value out of the Essential tier is access to online multiplayer. $80 a year just for that is scummy. Quite ironic you guys says this price increase is for “better quality games” while you put Saint’s Row in the Monthly games 🤡

  • This price increase will spell the end of PS+ subscription for me. Another middle finger from Sony to add to £70 games, that dreadful £200 streaming thing as two examples. Thanks Sony 👍🏻

Another win for PC gaming and Game Pass, that’s where my money will be going.

  • In order to continue doing something, you have to already be doing it…

  • Raising prices of PS+ is nothing but price gouging.

  • Lol no. I won’t be renewing at that price. Hard pass.

  • Any chance of letting me back-up my PS5 game saves to USB stick on my PS5 SONY??? I feel forced :-/ to get PS PLUS each year now just to save my PS5 game saves to the cloud now :-/ Because if I don’t save to the cloud and my PS5 dies then I’ll lose all my PS5 game saves. That is just ridiculous really :(

  • Sony is straight garage now lol. Im selling this useless PS5. $80 for online multiplayer and bad PS plus line up lol. Playstation Portal is dead on arrival. PSVR 2 is failing, Crossfire Sierra Squad and Firewall Ultra are half baked garbage…. Sony is now losing. Im changing to PC, screw consoles now. Paying for terrible games and money hungry Sony is now a loser company.

  • Sadly, i think I’ll sell my ps4 for a newer xbox, maybe a series S. This is just stealing with extra steps.

  • 80 USD per year just to play online LMAO

  • Nice. back to PC gaming I guess.

  • Remember to turn off your auto-renew.

I’m so sick of these subscription services, and there have been none with less value to me than PS Plus. I’ll stick to my PC and buy online games/non-exclusives there instead.

  • Sony should actually add more value to each tier before even considering raising the prices. $80 is not worthwhile for online play, cloud saves, and monthly mediocre games, with the occasional good one I already own. I think Sony got overconfident seeing the number of people buy years in advance when it was cheap to do so. This is an easy expense I can drop.

  • How are you guys increasing the price when the monthly free games are literally getting worse and worse. There hasn’t been one quality monthly game that is even worth it for what we’re paying. You guys are sellouts please find god.

  • I was already planning to downgrade from ps plus extra and this only confirms my decision. If it wasn’t for ps plus being required for multiplayer, I would unsubscribe.

  • They raise the price of games to $70 to “keep up quality” and now this. The gouging never ends. I remember when online was included with the game without a paywall.

  • They wasted time and resources on the PlayStation Portal. Of course they’d be this stupid.

  • Please reconsider the price increase, it’s too high!

  • $80???!?!? The best online games these days are free to play anyway.

  • Outrageous increase that do not make any sense. I downgraded my subscription to essentials and will probably cancel it soon.

  • I’ll stop renewing…
Honestly PS plus is far worse than Game Pass.
Just buy PC, instead of PS5.

  • Christ. I defend PlayStation Plus quite a bit, but this is ridiculous. When you spend two years getting bad press because your subscription service is considerably weaker than your main rival’s service, the absolute last thing you want to do is raise prices at all — let alone 35% (for Extra), which is preposterous. And then try to entice people with one of the biggest flops of last year hahaha.

I rarely find reason to whine about Plus, but this is really bad. Piss off all your customers while also giving a pretty huge PR gift (and very likely a financial gift) to Microsoft. This feels like something they’ll be walking back by the end of the week.

  • Not renewing my PSPlus, Extra catalog doesn’t worth that much.
I just think that is an exaggerated increase for a service that needs a lot of enhancement.

  • You guys got some real balls to keep raising the prices for such weak offerings don’t even give us day one releases gotta say so slow move over to PC has been looking more and more smarter with time

  • Even as a lifetime PlayStation fan this is a huge yikes. You already raised the price during the PS4 life cycle now you’re doing it again. Plus, there’s absolutely no justification for raising the price of essential. This is typical from PlayStation, putting the consumer last just because they’re the market leader…

“value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription”

We’ve had this line before, and we never saw any value added to PS+. 6/12 months we get sports games…

  • What extras am I getting for that 33% price increase to Essential because its certainly not the quality of games available for me to download or good discounts in the psn store? (especially if you consider the ‘games’ you decided to combine this price increase with were reviewed poorly when they first released)

  • Yeah I’m out. I’ve been subscribing since day 1 on PS3. Have the Premium tier right now until december 29.
How on earth can Sony justify a 30% hike? It’s the arrogant Sony all over again.

  • Been ages since I’ve wanted any game from monthly lineup. Ps3 and some on ps4 were great. Now, every month is garbage. To top it off, yall gonna charge ridiculous prices for plus. No more online gaming for me. I’ll be keeping my money. Be playing more on my switch and it’s successor.

  • Wow. Once my subscription is over, I wont be renewing it again. You lost me Sony.

  • Made the difficult decision earlier this year to buy a RTX 4070 TI instead of a PS5. It cost so much more and basically meant I would not be buying the PS5 I had planned on buying for 2-3 years. All I can say is, thank god those shortages happened during the pandemic and I feel even more like I made the right decision with the RTX 4070 TI. I have been a subscriber to PS+ since 2011 but there is absolutely no way I will pay those prices for it. The worst part is bumping cloud saves and online play up to the next tier, so Essential not only costs more but subscribers are getting less. I haven’t actually downloaded anything on PS+ since spring because I’ve been enjoying Humble Choice so much… so I guess this is my goodbye to the PlayStation ecosystem once and for all. My PS3 and PS4 are now merely blu-ray player backups in the event my dedicated player stops working.

  • Long time PS+ subscriber here. This is a ridiculous price hike that exceeds the price of MS’s GP Core yet doesn’t deliver additional value. I’ll pass.

  • Just cancelled my sub. I’m not a poor person but this is ridiculous price for the value.
