However, PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item Pack from PlayStation Plus, instead.

  • Hahaha and this is the same company that is fighting Microsoft over the Activision Blizzard merger for not being consumer friendly.

  • This is a scam, Xbox is focused on building a monopoly, meanwhile, Sony’s answer is to fight fire with fire using us 47m subscribers as a munition.

PS4 had Plus+Now for $120 annually, now charged at $160.

See, they sell you a PS5 at a loss, and they won’t mind, like Xbox, the money is on subscribers.

    PS5 base + 3 years of plus =$640

    PS5 Base + 3 Years of plus extra= $805

    PS5 Base + 3 Years of Plus premium =$880.

Assuming that all 47m subscribers of Essential renew, PlayStation will increase its revenue by around a billion USD. Let that sink in.

    • Yeah it’s not like the economy isn’t just getting worse and the price of everything has gone up. Lets focus only on the game/console developers that have tried to keep prices set for the past decade and are only now finally increasing price these past few years. Yes it sucks but if this minor change hurts you that bad, perhaps find either better work or a hobby that cost nothing.

  • In your ps plus free to play game “dreams universe™”, develop alternatives for every nintendo game, if the experience of playing these games with project q is good in a few months, I will sell switch and charge 10-year ps plus membership.

  • I’ve been with ps+ since the beginning and this my last year lol. Sony GREED will be your downfall, this will be the turning tide smh.

    • Ehh the yearly price has zero affect on me as I have always paid monthly since the first day I owned a ps4. I don’t see any issue with this, it just means a smaller discount for buying yearly.

Yeah it sucks but the prices of many things have increased over the past few years cause the economy is getting worse over all. I do not think this is something based in greed.

  • Time to rethink your plans merge extra with premium and cancel essential
Put a low tier subscription for cloud and online play

  • Time to rethink your plans merge extra with premium for the price of the first and cancel essential
Put a low tier subscription for cloud and online play

  • I’ve been with PSPlus pretty much since day 1.

If these prices hold, then I’ll probably unsubscribe for the first time ever when my subscription is up. It’s just not worth that much.

Sony screwed up big time with this.

  • NO NO NO! NOT ACCEPTABLE! That is NOT a good deal! You are going to be pushing people away! ONLINE PLAY SHOULD NOT COST ANYTHING EITHER! PC gives free online. Why are you charging for that? I have paid A LOT into the PlayStation ecosystem and now you are doing this???!!!!!! NO! NO!! NO!!!

  • i have a 12 month subscription, if i buy again another 12 month subscription today i wont have to pay anything when the price changes right?

  • this change is completely insane! if it’s already a lot of money in the us and europe, you don’t understand HOW much it is in latinamerica, you need to regionalize prices in countrys that the economy is not good

  • Oh great just what we need. A price increase on an already mediocre service. The base tier of PS Plus is what a normally opt into buying but seeing as its getting a $20 increase is ridiculous. The base tier of the service really offers nothing in terms of incentives for the average player. They give mediocre games every month and “online access” for multiplayer when most multiplayer games now don’t even require PS Plus to play with others. This service is pretty much a joke in terms of what it offers and raising the prices on an already dying service, is a huge blow to PlayStation. This company gets huge profit every year from major titles yet they want even more money. Most online games have microtransactions now so its honestly sad for a notable company like this to fall into even more greed. I’m really hoping they realize their mistake and correct it before there is a big boycott. Considering boycotts are starting to get more popular lately, I wouldn’t be surprised to see PlayStation get hit by a one. The economy is already terrible right now as it is with inflation being at record levels so this is exactly what people need for their entertainment. I love having to pay $80 for the most mediocre service known to man.

  • Chtěl Sem se zeptat,,, Platím Na měsíc PlayStation Plus Premium 449kc bude se to nak Zdražovat nebo to zůstane Na stejný Částce děkuji Michal

  • Canceled my auto Renewal.

Those prices are insane and it wasn’t even worth it at the old prices.

    • I think ten bucks a month is worth the access to multiplayer, cloud saves, and a handful of free games each month. Plus the added discounts to some games, I’ve bought a good number of games with those discounts. I feel it’s only not worth if you’re not playing a lot of games or don’t have money to spend on such things often.

  • Coming back to say this is like a landlord raising rent and not making any improvements to your apartment or complex. Rethink these price increases please, with no added value this is scummy and greedy as hell.

  • This is the high-quality games you promised us. What a joke.

    • I don’t care about high-quality games on plus . They shouldn’t charge us for multiplayer access , most of people buy ps plus for of multiplayer access

    • You know IV every console charges for multiplayer, actually it’s not even the consoles that do it’s the game developers. As some multiplayer games can be played without ps plus so I can only assume they get something out of forcing us to have ps plus to play their multiplayer.

  • This is daylight robbery by jim Ryan and sony

  • Boycott ps plus

  • bro… i will never understand why companies tend to be so out of touch with their community/fanbase, yall got social media accounts for a reason, stalk them. yall are so reluctant to make the services better but when it comes to doing anything that involves you guys getting more money yall are quick with it. i have been using a playstation my whole life, started with my cousin’s ps2 when i was going to high school and couldnt afford one, fast forward some years i started working and finally bought my self a ps4. sadly it stopped working the moment i put up my pc, that was like a month ago. im considering getting ps plus once again just to cop dreams but this aint it, like kratos said… do better

  • Absolute garbage of a monthly lineup, and they proceed to up the PS Plus prices this hard on the same day Starfield releases?
Sony outta here trying to convince us PC gaming is the way.

    Subscription cancelled.

  • Any chance we can get a super basic ps plus option for online gaming and cloud saves only, without the monthly free games, for like 24.99 per year? I usually don’t play the ps plus monthly games anyway just add them to my library and forget about them.

  • Hello,
I know you’re getting a lot of negative messages, but I understand that inflation exists and companies gotta do compay things. But I really think that leaving the essential tier at its price is the smartest move.
Raise the others and bring them more features and games. And maybe take out 3 monthly games from essential. Just keep that base tier low and more accessible for new people. It really is going to shoot yourselves in the foot.

I finally got my girlfriend to come to the PlayStation life from PC and now justifying this extra money just to play a few games is breaking my heart really. I hope you come to a more satisfying conclusion than this.

  • Still better then the xbox game pass as it’s still more expensive then the ps plus and yeah you get the xbox exclusive games. Too bad it has nothing worth playing in the first place that I can’t just get else where. Also getting it on xbox and pc? Why would I care I don’t play my games across multiple platforms that’s such a pointless feature imo.

Still not happy about this price change sony is doing but I never paid yearly anyways so this pay change doesn’t affect me at all.

    • You sure like commenting for the sake of commenting. You’re not adding anything to the conversation. Glad you pay monthly. Stop insinuating people are upset because they are poor or have a low income. If you can’t see the issue and the blatant corporate greed, then let the majority that is aware and are voicing their concerns do their thing. Go play Saints Row.

    • I have no debt, with the exception of a mortgage, and make over six figures a year. I won’t be renewing my subscription if these new prices go through. People with money keep their money by not falling for bad deals.

  • Fire Jim Ryan!
He is the worst thing that ever happened to PlayStation!

  • I was on the fence about building a gaming pc but I think this was the push I needed. PS plus was already a hard sell at 60 dollars for me because I have no interest in the free games we get each month. 90 percent of them I don’t play. I only use the service for online access. And I’m sure most people feel the same way. Now that it’s going up to 80 dollars a year just to have access to play online, when you already pay your internet service provider a boat load of cash for online access is not acceptable.
Scrap the “free” games Sony, give us a tier for just cloud saves and online access for a fair price. No one wants this.

  • As a long time PS consumer, this is a hard pass for me. Your well within your right to raise prices whenever you want. I see no value in it for me. When the current sub expires in 2024 I’m out.

  • Not sure why us Canadians don’t get the respect, but can you also include Canadian pricing going forward?

  • This is so … against what I’d do to cater my type of gamer.

I will unsub because of this price hike and other factors:

1: Funding that Haven chick still pisses me off. And the excuse is to tap into free2play-territory. She must have incredible talents, I’m sure. Meanwhile, you cut Days Gone 2.
2: Dumb fps Free2plays are not worthwhile for me as a consumer.
3: SONY has a PR team that reminds me of a lazy clique in high school. That stupid podcast from PlayStation showcases the complete lack of personality and believability that defines the PR strategy overall.
4: TLOU2 forever killing the franchise (for me).
5: A greedy price hike in the midst of MS playing a singular ace up their sleeve together with acquisition of Bethesda is just provoking change in consumer behaviour.

For me, these decisions or factors contribute to me just wanting to vote with my wallet.

  • $60 was egregious enough just to be able to message friends and play online multiplayer on games that are already $80 and barely finished. This is getting outrageous, $80, for what?!!! As someone who barely gets to play once or twice a week I’m not downloading the free games, I’m not using discounts. I just want to play with my friends, online. PlayStation used to have the advantage over Xbox when it was all free, now I don’t see why everyone doesn’t just jump to PC…

  • This is a disgusting move Sony!!!! Im not renewing my subscription, it’s not worth my hard work money…bye bye

  • Come on PlayStation the price increase it’s just crazy these last couple of months. The games that you’re released for the monthly games have not been great and now y’all want more money I’m a big PlayStation guy but this is just not gonna look good on y’all get ready for a lot of upset people especially in these times we live in games are already too expensive come on Sony you guys can do better I’m still a PlayStation fan though, and will continue to play on the PlayStation.

  • Not a good way to justify the increase price….

  • Sony let me just say I’m as big of a PlayStation fan is the next person and I will continue to support the PlayStation it’s my preference but this is just crazy this months lineup honestly sucks and the last few have not been great. Now you want people to pay more money for a full year and it’s sometimes it’s a hit or miss every month. With the economy that we live in and the price increase it just doesn’t make no sense to me. Games are already too expensive. And what your competitors are offering for their monthly prices it’s just crazy to me. Sony, I love my PlayStation, and I love the PlayStation brand. But you guys really need to start doing better. This is just crazy. Get ready for a lot of pissed off PlayStation gamers and that’s just my opinion.

  • Oh no..very bad games this month and to put this news about the prices is just nuts. Are your games prices coming down to 60£ or still 70£+ ? I just can’t justify it anymore, I’ll not renew.

  • A price increase is understandable, this level of price increase IS NOT. The service has gotten more and more lackluster with free titles and a price increase is just what a lot of us needed to drop a subscription that i personally have had for over 10 years. Read the room sony.

  • As an average Sony consumer, I refuse to pay for the PlayStation Plus subscription. The monthly games that are being released on PlayStation Plus has been substandard for me. The increase prices for the annual plan subscription for all tiers is absurd. What is the justification for the annual price increase? To bring “high-quality games and value-added benefits” does not justify for the 33% price increase to the annual PlayStation Plus subscription tiers from its original pricing. We don’t even get day-one games on PlayStation Plus because you want us to experience classical PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games that are not even that good, play online multiplayer, play cloud games, and enjoy mediocre perks within the subscription tiers that we pay? Most of us average consumers just want to play online multiplayer, but what is the point of even paying monthly if we are paying already our internet provider just to get internet access to play online multiplayer games?

Charging for online multiplayer behind a subscription service while the consumer is already paying for internet access from their internet provider is illogical. If PC users does not require to have any subscription to play online, get better deals on games, then why are we paying a company that only cares about how much are we willingly to spend no matter how absurd the decisions that are being made from the company? Remember that us consumers had paid so much money on a PlayStation 5 during the pandemic. Then, we have the economic inflation that increased most of our consumer products on selected regions, and now they want to increase the PlayStation Plus subscription services up to 33% from their original prices in justification to bring “high-quality games” that are unoptimized that could not handle a stable 60fps so they have to use FSR as known as “performace mode” to lower the quality of the image just to compensate the amount of loss frame rate. Yet, you want us consumers to pay $80-$160 annually while we get less in return? Where is the value that justify the new annual subscription prices? I am grateful that I have not purchased any next gen console. As technology keeps evolving, we are seeing other companies potentially making their own windows base console using powerful AMD integrated graphics that can soon go up against dedicated graphics cards.

I will protest with my wallet and find better services or products that have the most “value” per dollar that I spend. This is what happens when a company becomes too arrogant with their market dominance and greed. I will not tolerate this kind of business practices and I will not spend money any subscription services or products from Sony.

  • I accidentally let my PlayStation Plus Premium expire on August 6th… been subscribed to PS+ since March 2015. Unless I can stack or get a good deal before September 6th, I am probably done subscribing. Upgraded to Premium when it launched but if it’s going to be for $160 a year now, that is just highway robbery. $80 for online gaming and monthly games that were heavily discounted months beforehand? What happened to getting regular PS+ for around $30 before the introduction of Plus and Premium?

Playstation is going downhill fast; PC gaming, here I come 🏃‍♂️

  • This is ridiculous. I won’t be renewing once it expires.

  • I’m sitting here looking at a wall of PlayStation 1,2,3,4,5, PSP and Vita games (probably over $10k in money spent), and it makes me sad to think I might have to go GREEN. I think I might buy a Box.

  • Hello @Sony and @Playstation.
I promise I will not be a jerk and I want to address this situation with the highest level of patience and knowledge after being a PlayStation user since the first Playstation came out.

I want to say it from my perspective, that I’ve been supporting you guys through the highs and the lows PS has been. there is no other console I love the most and I do not want to leave Playstation, but these prices are just INSANE and I cannot simply keep up with them. I would love to know how you would address this matter, from the financial perspective, and knowing my loyalty is to you guys. Are you expecting 10-year PlayStation gamers to just leave due to your exaggerated raises?

Do you think this is a fair move to a user that has been supporting you since the PS One and more?

Why are you keeping us, the gamers, your true customers and users, out of the discussion and just HIKING and RAISING extraordinarily, your subscriptions? don’t you guys think it would be a good idea to at least release a survey where you can ask what would be a reasonable raise?

OK, fine, we understand prices must be raised, but 40USD a month on Premium? 35 USD on EXTRA? you do realize these are 35% and 40% raises!?
Can you guys, try to, at least, think about players who’ve been with you for along time?
Can you please share some options for people who can have a financial struggle, but definitely don’t want to leave.

I feel, you guys really want to leave us behind as I believe there are thousands of users under my same situation and as much as we love Playstation we would be forced to consider other options for gaming consoles.

    Please reconsider this decision.

    • Internet stranger/friend. I have had every PlayStation since the first released. I’ve been fortunate enough that I bought my 2 best friends each their PS5 and got myself the PSVR2 on launch. I purchased a walkman, a discman, several Sony Ericsson phones, my go-to gift for loved ones are Sony noise cancelling headphones, I have my own as well as the Linkbuds (I’m willing to go experimental, that’s how much trust in Sony I have), I bought the PSP on launch, and imported another from Japan to play their exclusives, I have purchased 3 PS Vitas (gifted one, kept an OLED and the upgraded version), I am typing this from an Xperia phone. I effing LOVE Sony products if it’s not clear yet. But today I cancelled my autorenew for PSN after close to a decade being subscribed. Not because I can’t afford it, but out of principle. Not once in the 25 years+ I’ve been a Sony fan/supporter and spent thousands of dollars on their products have they reached out and offered any “loyalty” rewards or even a darn “Thank you” pin.

I will be taking my money to Sennheiser, Samsung, LG, Microsoft, whoever has a decent product, and THEN if all else fails, I’ll consider Sony. Arigato mf.

  • Really Sony? increasing prices for crap content? You have lost your minds!!, I’m not renewing my subscription. Enough is enough!!

  • Sony, as a long time PSN subscriber I only have one question. What are you thinking?

  • What’s the justification for this price hike? I’ve seen no improvement in service quality or game selection. Just more cheap bs. This is disgusting

  • I buy the games I want to play. The ONLY thing I have Plus for is online play. You’re telling me that I gotta pay $80 just for the privilege to play a few games online?

  • Saints Row was so good that the studio behind it, Volition, was just shut down. So this month we’re getting:

A game which was so bad that it forced its studio to fail.
The cheapest variant of an MMO which was on sale for pennies many times.
A shooter game riddled with micro dlcs.

With the price hike you could AT LEAST provide the full/premium version for Black Desert or Generation Zero.

  • What a shame… Back to playing offline.

  • Just cancelled my subscription which was set to auto renew every February. I love Sony products but I hate corporate greed way more. See you all online on PC.

  • I find the combination of this line-up and those massive price increases flat out insulting. Definitely won’t resub extra then. Add on top the weird GaaS offensive, no roadmap for single player first party experiences and the hardware shenanigans with this portal machine, what is happening Sony?

  • Yeah, no, thanks. I’ve already cancelled my PS+ Extra and won’t be coming back. Why the [DELETED] do I have to pay so much to use my goddamn WiFi? At this point, it’s cheaper in the long run to just switch to a PC. Especially since the same game, Balder’s Gate 3, costs $50 on Steam but $70 here. And a lot of new PS games get ported to PC much sooner anyway. And with PS focusing on live service games instead of what got them here, plus [DELETED] showcases.

  • Pretty disgusting, honestly. Just cancelled my subscription.

I’ve been an active subscriber of PS+ since its inception and a loyal PS gamer since the PS1.

I only care about cloud save backups and access to select PS Classic games, but $160 is far too pricey for those alone. Please consider offering these 2 benefits a la carte.

In hindsight, I’ve never played the free monthly games or any of the Plus Extra titles since I’ve owned most of them already from deeply discounted sales.

This is quite a poor value for some of us and I don’t think Sony considered the many different types of gamers within their ecosystem.

  • Imagine paying $169 or $80 for subscription service ☠️☠️

This is daylight robbery. Don’t buy ps plus until they reversed the price
