New pricing changes to PlayStation Plus 12-Month plans.

It’s a new month, with a new lineup of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September. The Monthly Games lineup of Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition and Generation Zero will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, September 5 until Monday, October 2. 

Let’s take a closer look at each of the games in turn. 

Saints Row | PS4, PS5 

Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created.  The unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive and wingsuit your way to the top. Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets. Play online with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action. 

Black Desert – Traveler Edition | PS4 

Find your calling in this open-world fantasy MMORPG which boasts fast-paced PvE combat, large-scale PvP siege wars, multiple character classes and combat types to specialize in. You can also choose to dedicate yourself to a variety of pursuits, such as trade, fishing, horse training, alchemy, cooking, and gathering. The Traveler Edition is a bundle of the base game and multiple add-ons*. 

*Those add-ons collectively constitute The Traveler Item Pack, which is also available on PlayStation Store as a separate download. PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert cannot redeem the full Traveler Edition bundle from PlayStation Plus. However, PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item Pack from PlayStation Plus, instead. 

Generation Zero

This first-person open world adventure is set in a familiar but hostile open world of 1980s Sweden. Battle and survive deadly machine enemies alone or with three friends in seamless online co-op as you discover the truth behind what’s happened to the region. You must choose your battles wisely as you engage in adrenaline-pumping guerilla combat against these mechanical forces. Scavenge parts from your fallen enemies and use them to craft equipment, weapons and ammunition. Build and fortify your own bases across the island and start taking back your home.

PlayStation Plus members have until Monday, September 4 to add PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams and Death’s Door to their game library. 

We also wanted to let you know that starting September 6 we will be increasing the price for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions globally across all benefit plans. This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service. 

Here are the new prices for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscription plans.

PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription
134.99 USD | 125,99 Euro | 99.99 GBP | 11,700 Yen

PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription
159.99 USD | 151,99 Euro | 119.99 GBP | 13,900 Yen

The new prices for the 12-Month subscription will remain at a discounted rate when compared to purchasing the 1-Month or 3-Month subscriptions over a 12-month period. 

For current 12-month subscribers, this price increase will not take effect until your next renewal date that occurs on or after November 6. However, any membership changes you make on or after September 6, such as upgrades, downgrades or buying additional time, will update your plan reflecting the new prices.  You can change or cancel your subscription at any time, details here.

We’ll notify current subscribers of these changes via email and will have additional details on our website soon.

You’re talking about “bringing high quality games” after you just took away the PS Plus Collection back in May that actually had high quality games; and then you shell out these three dollar-bin games this month with the price hike?     Wow great move Sony… announcing a nearly 35% price hike across the board while continuing to offer little value.

    What’s flabbergasting is that you have a few game stores like Epic that offer free games left and right and some are actually pretty good for the low price of $0. Xbox has a decent cloud gaming service now and even Amazon is stepping up in this area for prime members…AMAZON!

    The only thing I’m getting from my PSN is mediocre games and online gameplay…which I’ve continued to use less and less. Perhaps it’s time to cancel and move on. I purchase the majority of my games as physical copies anyway..

      I also want to mention that I’ve been paying for online gameplay since Final Fantasy XI released. The free games were initially a nice touch but have progressively gotten worse. It’s no longer justified.

    So starting at $16 price jump for Essential to $96 Down under,& $35 more for Extra & PS Deluxe $43 extra at $197 total!😕

    Keeping in mind the promises of “more content”,has still yet to see any PS Now/ Premium streaming in my region,& the “classic library of PSP,PS1,& PS2 games”, has seen mostly niche PSP games,& a smattering of PS1 games,with ZERO PS2 additions since the old PS2 Classics on PS4 program was discontinued!

    For a “content acquisition” director, where pray is the third party classic content? Where’s the Dino Crisis,RE2/3,Tekken series, Alundra,Adventures of Lomax, Colony Wars series,NFS Underground 1 & 2, SSX/Tricky/3,Maximo 1 & 2,Ratchet & Clank,Sly Cooper,GOW,nevermind countless rpg’s & other games i haven’t listed! There’s been an abysmal amount of classic additions especially in third party content!

    Unfortunately with the competition having increased their prices,its about keeping status quo. If there was a flood of classic games including more PS1/PS2 content it might justify things,but based off Sony’s track record it’ll still be a minimal effort vs live service multiplayer stuff.😑

    Are you [DELETED] serious?!?!?! I had Essential but decided to get the Premium last year because it was discounted and was actually disappointed in the classics catalog. I was going to keep the extra this year for some of the free games to keep playing like Sea of Stars since it was released on there but ya’ll [DELETED] that all up. I’ll just finish it before my subscription ends and I’m going back to Essential just for the online play.

    I have been playing Playstation since the very first console, loyal possibly to a fault. I will cancel my sub and sell my Playstation if this comes to pass.

    This is very disheartening to read about. I understand that prices can’t always stay the same, but charging 25% more when your quality of games has consistently decreased over the years? That’s a terrible business decision. I’ve been a ps+ subscriber since day one, and I honestly don’t know if it is worth the price of admission anymore.

    Who is this service for now? Obviously it isn’t for your biggest supporters. You’re alienating your fans, Sony.

    Sony continues to do anything and everything to alienate and disgruntle their userbase.

    I’m fortunate to have come across sales over the years and have bought multiple years in advance for PS Plus until 2026, though once that ends, it’s not being renewed and switching over to Microsoft, either PC or Xbox, will become a realistic option at that time.

    I’ll be downgrading my plan but it’s probably smarter to just cancel it entirely at this point. $80 for multiplayer, cloud saves, and terrible monthly game drops is ludicrous.

    This price hike is not only out of control, but also poorly timed. When price hikes happen within a short period of time, that is a hint and an half that something is wrong. Sonly has only given customers a week, at best, to adjust to these new prices. In my humble opinion, the result will be a mass exodus from the PS Plus membership, as many others have expressed here. I wonder if the PS4 will see an earlier deprecation date since Sony has raised the PS Plus membership annual prices; I will wait and see.

    Expect the competition to “nudge” players to look in their direction with limited time free access and deep discounts.

    If the price hike was a 5 dollar incremental increase, then I do not think that most people would be too upset about it ($5, $10, $15 respectively). All of this “clap trap” about raising prices to bring players ‘high quality games’ and ‘value added benefits’ is falling on a lot of deaf ears at this point. I think Sony Playstation should rescind this price hike until the company figures out how to “add value” to the membership tiers that customers will actually pay for.

    Q4 2023 and 2024 in general will be interesting.

    At a time when people are struggling to pay for groceries, you decide to pull a raise hike like this? Nah nah nah. You’ve really miss read this time PS. Much of your fan base are X-XBox 360 players who left M$ for their shady corporate, anti-consumer practices. I’m ready to not re-new my subscription or spend another cent on PS if this change goes through. We’ll see how much you like 0 dollars of my money. I’ll switch to PC where there are no fees to play online. I’ll be happy to wait 2 or 3 years for your games, if it means not having to deal with this corporate greed.     What you are abusing the subscriber instead of improving what you are doing is making it worse, which is why many of your clients have left Playstation and have gone to any platform other than Playstation.
    think carefully about what you are doing to the client before making a decision like this because at least we deserve to be notified of something like this several months in advance but not as they just did with only several days in advance and not so much this too Because of the prices that they are going to put on each service, if they continue like this, I will leave the Playstation.

    Everything’s going up in price except for wages. I live here in the US and given how expensive everything is and how expensive rent is. A living wage would be $40 an hour where I live. I Don’t even make half that. I was considering getting PlayStation Plus extra but now that is a definite no.

      I was a premium subscriber, but I cancelled so quickly once I heard this news drop. Even if they walk it back I feel like the damage is done.

      Tell me about it. While I do make over $25/hr, as the only income for my wife (who is fully disabled) and I, we barely scrape by these days.

      It’s absurd how the vast majority of the common workforce is hurting more than ever, these companies claim the same, raise prices absurd amounts, yet still make record profits and bonuses while everyone else’s income stays stagnant.

    As much I understand a increase of the price, this is absolut outrageous.

    1. The prices got increase between 20%-40%. That’s insane. If you increase every tier by 10€, it would be fine and understandable.

    2. You are delivering less than Gamepass for the same price now. No Day 1 release of your games in Extra or Premium. No PS3 emulator, we can even use our PS3 library on PS5. And the games of today’s announcement shows your quality of games.

    3. The majority still can’t stream PS5 games yet, while it’s in the beta phase. Features are missing, like a better overlay of discord on PS5. No gift function in store and the licensing system of the store is a nightmare.

    If you fix everything of 2. and 3., I might considering to revenue my subscription for those insane prices. If not, I will definitely change the platform and just coming back for some exclusives

      Speaking of Discord, while I don’t use it, what happened to it being built into the PlayStation 5?

      Didn’t Sony purchase their minority steak in Discord and announce its integration a couple of years ago?

      I rarely use voice chat and messages these days so I haven’t kept informed about this.

      Either way, it’s abundantly clear that with this absurdly high price increase for PS+ and the scummy anti-consumer approach they are taking with the Playstation Portal, arrogant Sony has returned in full form.

      It’s only going to get worse.

    Once my pre-paid PS+ Premium upgrade runs out, I’ll be dropping my subscription down to the base tier. Just as I plan to do with GamePass.

    These services may be worth the price for others, but personally, they don’t offer me enough content that I care about to justify the current price, let alone the increase.

    On a side note: With the details revealed of the Playstation Portal, & the scummy tactic Sony is using, it’s clear arrogant Sony is back.

    I have no interest in the Playstation Portal since its a streamin only device, and I can already do what it offers at no cost with my phone/tablet and the remote play app.

    Even Apple, a majorly scummy company, wouldnt pull what Sony is doing with the Playstation Portal.

    There is zero excuse for locking wireless audio connectivity to the device with proprietary tech, and not offering Bluetooth connectivity. It’s extremely anti-consumer.

    All to help push sales of their 2 new devices, their ear buds & headphones. It’s even more absurd to make the device incompatible with the already released Playstation Pulse 3D Headset. 🤦‍♂️

    As I said earlier, arrogant Sony is back, and in full form. 😑

    Was enjoying the PS Premium but man, I am NOT paying $216.60 a year for PS Premium for barely any good games now, let alone NOT being able to download the games directly but have to stream them with delays and input responses. Nah man, big L on Sony, definitely either going down to the very basic edition or just not renewing the subscription at all. Sony and Playstation you guys literally suck. With price increase you are supposed to provide better service.

    6,800 yen is equivalent to about $46.59 USD.

    Essential costs $80 USD.

    Why are they charging foreign markets almost twice as much?

    Taking advantage of non-Japanese markets is a good way to anger and push your customers away Sony.

    Also announcing it at the bottom of a long article a week ahead of time? Pretty disgusting, I bet they’re planning an ambush of sorts relying on auto-renewals to rake in extra money.

    Hopefully the United States cracks down on this type of predatory behavior more.

    Jim Ryan should be fired for the immense harm he has done to the video game industry. Seriously.

    He increases the price of the ps5, he increases the price for new games, he approved the totally ridiculous PlayStation Portal that doesn’t play games natively, doesn’t play streamed games and doesn’t support Bluetooth just to sell a set of 200 dollar AirPods, and now he increases ps the price of PSPlus by 35% out of nowhere, a psplus that hasn’t seen a single good AAA game in a long time, has completely neglected the ps2 catalogue, has been drip feeding the ps1 catalogue and “adds” the psp catalogue with trash nobody cares about.

    Where’s the value in what you’re doing Sony? How does your service benefit me as a consumer when you don’t even listen to your customers and just wants to milk them dry? why do you have the gull to have such shameful anti consumer practices and tell us that “we are ramping up the prices to give you better games” and the things you offer with this are a game hated by everyone, a pay to win MMO and a game nobody knows or even cares about?

I love being able to play online games with my friends and despite money being rather tight, I do try to get my subscriptions as often as I can. This is not how you want to repay your loyal customers. Guess I’ll have to cancel my subscription and not bother to renew until you revert these ludicrous changes.

    I have been a loyal PS gamer and customer since the original PlayStation. I have purchased every console and handheld. I have been a premium subscriber.

    There is no justification for raising the price $40 dollars per year for the same service with no additional benefits. Are you out of your minds? I have cancelled my auto renewal. You better figure this out fast or my family, I didn’t used to have one when I started with PlayStation, will no longer be customers.
