Welcoming Bluepoint Games to the PlayStation Studios family

Developers of critically acclaimed remakes joins the PlayStation Studios family.

Today I’m very excited to announce that PlayStation Studios has grown again with the addition of long-time partner Bluepoint Games! From the exceptional PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls to the critically acclaimed PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus and remasters of fan favorites like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Bluepoint has built a name for itself by creating some of the highest-quality remasters and remakes in the industry.

With each of its projects, Bluepoint has raised the bar on console-defining visuals and gameplay, and the studio’s vast expertise in world building and character creation will be a huge plus for future PlayStation Studios properties.

Welcome to the PlayStation Studios family, Bluepoint!

Welcoming Bluepoint Games to the PlayStation Studios family

“We’re thrilled to have officially joined PlayStation Studios!

Austin, Texas has been home base for Bluepoint from when we first founded the studio back in 2006 and we’re now a team of close to 70 super-talented creatives and growing. While the studio has certainly grown over the past 15 years, our cultural beliefs have remained the same- to always push the envelope and create the highest-quality games possible all while having fun doing it.  The focus on culture has been instrumental to our success and we’re excited that PlayStation Studios shares a similar culture and vision.

PlayStation has such an iconic gaming catalog and for us there’s been nothing better than to bring some of gaming’s masterpieces to new players. Becoming a part of PlayStation Studios, empowers our team to raise the quality-bar even further and create even more impactful experiences for the PlayStation community.

Thanks to everyone who’s supported us throughout the years – we can’t wait to bring you more amazing games in this next chapter for Bluepoint Games!”

– Marco Thrush, President, Bluepoint Games

  • Just need MGS remaster, not remake from ps1. I think everyone would agree

  • I still want Infamous 1&2 Collection (Remaster not Remake), Ico Remake, and Metal Gear Solid Remake. Come Bluepoint, make it happen. I know that you are working on something brand new that is original, but could squeeze in one of these in between. :)

  • Hell… It’s about time!

  • Great studio.

Now use your capital alliance with Kadokawa to bring back quality first party Japanese development with their massive IP’s. Bolster an expanded Asobi Studio with a team or utilise the experience of Bluepoint Games to bring us an exclusive Gravity Rush 3.

    • Problem with that is Sony hates Japan and Japanese studios. Other than that one boring studio that make the same game over and over there’s no “big budget” Sony studios in Japan.

The only way they could have Japanese games was to have a US studio remake them.

    • Would love to see them acquire studios like Vanillaware and more renowned ones and allow them to thrive.

Given the fact Sony are heavily anime centric, it serves their overall best interests to bring back their glory Japanese gaming experiences.

PlayStation are producing great games, but Japanese games provide the diversity of gaming that we have enjoyed for a while. They need to recognise this and realise there is a massive, PS platform popular world outside of the US.

  • Now get on a Bloodborne remake!

  • So instead of hiring a Japanese studio they hire a US studio who remakes Japanese games…

Why are there so many US studios churning out boring sequels remakes??

SIE knows the rest of the world is a thing, right?

  • Congratulations to BluePoint. The Demons Souls remake on PS5 is a masterpiece, and the best next-gen launch title I’ve ever played – I can’t wait to see what they do next.

  • Welcome, we’re delighted

  • Soul sacrifice delta remake please

  • Nice.
    Next is emberlab .

  • Great news
    Welcome to the family.

  • Ok, let’s redo Driveclub now.

  • Great a studio that only works on top of the work of others, hope they’re working on a new IP instead of more recyled crap.Bluepoint did a helluva good job on the collections of PS3 truly remastered in HD but the PS4 gen and PS5 pff only recycled crap that was unnecessary and blatant cash-grab.

  • Wow you kept this under your hats!

  • Best news I’ve heard this week

  • Can yall please stop making remakes and just give us new stuff the remakes are truthfully disrespectful it’s like yall only want the money just give us better anime stuff story and game play wise and give us new stuff stop acting like movies makes re putting out the same stuff over and over again.. and give us an anime game like they did with broken bonds please

  • This is great news, am looking forward to what they’re working on

  • I hope next acquisition will be

Most Likely—— Kadokawa Corp, Kojima, Remedy, ASOBO studio.

Plausible ——- WB games, Arc system works, Cyberconnect2, ready at dawn, Quantic Dream, platinum games, level 5.

Not Likely —— Konami IPs, Square enix, Capcom, CJ project, bungie, supermassive

  • Awesome, congratulations, I’ll be thrilled to play one of your games

  • I remember when people were expecting this acquisition and then found out about the Housemarque acquisition. I think the reason Sony is starting to evolve partnerships into acquisitions is because they see how Microsoft has finally woken up and gotten serious about having their own studios (like acquisition of all of Bethesda studios) to have more bench strength for console exclusives, and this prompts Sony to secure some of the best talent they already have good working relationships with.

Also, the acquisition of Insomniac was probably the best business decision with great continuing success in the last few decades of video game industry, so that must have bolstered the thesis within Sony to go ahead with more acquisitions.

I think they should try and acquire Hello Games (No Man’s Sky), Q-Games (PixelJunk series of games), and Arrowhead (Helldivers) next.

  • great, now can you guys patch the texture streaming issues in Shadow of the Colossus when running on PS5 backwards compatibility mode?

  • SO glad you guys finally put a ring on it. Bluepoint is insanely talented and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

  • looking forward to the future projects!

  • Well it really doesn’t matter anymore,,PlayStation exclusives coming to pc ,,guys little advice sell ur console.
