So far 2021 has been incredible, and supremely humbling, as The Last of Us Part II has been recognized with over 300 Game of the Year Awards, an unprecedented achievement. We are super grateful to our community for your terrific support over the past year, including voting us the BAFTA EE Game of the Year and the Golden Joystick Ultimate Game of the Year. We’ve received a ton of fan mail letting us know how meaningful The Last of Us series has been for you and we’ve been astounded by all the excellent fanart, cosplay, and tattoos you have been sharing with us. 

One of the most requested items from our community has been to release a PS5 performance patch for The Last of Us Part II. 

Well, today is the day and you can download the free* patch right now!

The Last of Us Part II performance patch for PS5

Once patch 1.08 for The Last of Us Part II is installed on your PS5, you will find a toggle in the Display options that allows you to choose between a Framerate Target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.

The team has been digging into the PS5 hardware and the possibilities it unlocks since launch last year and we’re excited about what the future holds. This patch is just the first step of working on the PS5. We’ll let you know when we’ve got more news to share!

    I’ve just got my PS5 yesterday , I am so stocked could not of come in a better time and have yet to finish The LastOfUs2 .Thank you guys, so it’s still 1440p or 4K/60fps ?

    how do I got about installing the patch ( does the game need to be moved over from my external HDD to my PS5 console storage ?

    Thank you all for your hard work – the updated patch is much appreciated!

    I am also joining the choir of those asking for a PS5 update for Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy – Uncharted 4 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I would love to see it in its full glory!

    Where in the world is the Bloodborne patch Sony? Your backwards compatibility is an embarrassment.

      Its much better than the ps4s non existent backwards compatibility, but compared to the series x’s BC it really is an embarrassment. There are reports of how easy it is to make a 60fps patch for the series x, but on ps5 deveolpers were saying they have to remake the game or something like that.

    Great patch, took me awhile to get used to 60 fps, as the the majority of playtime, was on my ps4.

    Very excited about this, but for some reason, TLOU2 has disappeared from my hard drive. It’s not in my list of installed games, but if I go to the PS store it says it’s “installed” and it’s greyed out. I have no idea what’s happening. I’m on a PS5 and have my PS4 games on an external HD. Help?

    Is there any downside to toggling on the 60fps? Like does it take away from the graphics at all to achieve that? Or is it something that you should just automatically turn on if you are on PS5?

      Just turn it on if you are on ps5, it will have the same graphics and resolution as the ps4 pro

    The only negative is that when I updated I lost all my previous saves and accomplishments.

    Personally, I didn’t enjoy the story too much. But now that there is a 60fps patch I might play through the game again. I hope we see an uncharted 4 and lost legacy.

    Totally awesome I love Naughty Dog and TLOU is one of my favorite series. And I absolutely loved TLOU2 it was emotional, devastating, and beautiful it just had so many layers. I just recently got my PS5 so I can now experience it all over again LOL. And I just wanted to say to Naughty Dog(and Neil Druckmann) keep doing what your doing and pushing the envelop, and making these wonderful thought provoking games.

    This game is gorgeous on PS5 ! The details are insane. I got every game on PS5. Best experience so far but I’m still early in. I can appreciate the details being as I currently own both consoles so 10 out of 10 Remastered and the game was already amazing. #UNCHARTED 4 REMASTERED#??

    I’m playing third time through on new game+ and just had the update. I’ve just loaded into abbys section and I now have a few player upgrades needed. I’m getting heaps of supplements and parts for weapon upgrades (which I wasn’t before) but I’ve already fully upgraded everything. Not sure if update has caused this issue or

    Hello, Arne! I think every PS5 owner had a hope for next-gen version of the game somewhere later this year.
    Should we expect separate edition or TLOU2 is only about backwards compatibility?

    Thank you very much for the 60fps, but we know that the most awarded game in history deserves a Next-Gen version, Ray Tracing, 4K, full support for Dualsense and SSD, I know you should be preparing this version right now, I just want to know if the PS5 version comes out this year, I love you so much and that I’m sure about the PS5 version, I’ll wait for that version to come out to replay on my PS5

    I love both games and i am really happy with the update. But!!! Since i played it several times i really would wish i could skip cutscenes. I love the story to death but if i just wanna get hard into the action sometimes its unnerving. I wanna go for speedruns and such and tho have that option would be really nice.

    Will there still be further improvement in this game? e.g. a proper PS5 version with haptic feedback ? just deciding whether I should play it now or wait for another patch/version.

    Great to see a 60fps option for PS5 users and especially without having to re-buy the game. I’m staying on PS4 for a while longer but I’ll check out the 60fps option when I replay the game on PS5 someday.

    i’ve got a question. does it have to be installed on PS5’s ssd to get every benefit? or it can be installed in extended storage?
