Play The Last of Us Part II, targeting 60 FPS, on PS5 now.
So far 2021 has been incredible, and supremely humbling, as The Last of Us Part II has been recognized with over 300 Game of the Year Awards, an unprecedented achievement. We are super grateful to our community for your terrific support over the past year, including voting us the BAFTA EE Game of the Year and the Golden Joystick Ultimate Game of the Year. We’ve received a ton of fan mail letting us know how meaningful The Last of Us series has been for you and we’ve been astounded by all the excellent fanart, cosplay, and tattoos you have been sharing with us.
One of the most requested items from our community has been to release a PS5 performance patch for The Last of Us Part II.
Well, today is the day and you can download the free* patch right now!
Once patch 1.08 for The Last of Us Part II is installed on your PS5, you will find a toggle in the Display options that allows you to choose between a Framerate Target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.
The team has been digging into the PS5 hardware and the possibilities it unlocks since launch last year and we’re excited about what the future holds. This patch is just the first step of working on the PS5. We’ll let you know when we’ve got more news to share!

Does this mean more performance improvements for PS5 for TLoU2 or are you alluding to other projects?
I’m guessing a full-on PS5 version might be coming in the future, possibly with that TLOU1 remake that is apparently happening.

This is great but you mentioned in your SIGGRAPH talk that your engine supports Ray Tracing but you lacked the hardware to do it. Now with PS5, I hope we will get dedicated version with ray tracing.

We won’t be seeing Jak and Daxter for at least a few non-Jak installments, sadly. But yeah, the world needs a new Jak and Daxter gun, one that incorporates the strengths of the first four games, not just The Precursor Legacy. (The eco powers expansion and gun-staff from The Lost Frontier are great additions to take inspiration from, though.)

HZD is Guerilla Games, not Naughty Dog. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but I hope for more studios to do the same with these games.
I think Killzone Shadow Fall also got 60 FPS back in November.
They sort of missed the boat with that and if there was going to be a 60fps patch, releasing it the day the game went for free on Play At Home would have been the perfect time when millions more people would be trying the game for the first time.
It’s not too late… I still want 60FPS HZD! I’m not finishing the game until I get it. Only like 50% complete at best.
Certainly one of my two favorite games with The Last Of Us! Too bad it’s so hard to find a PS5!

Hey! 60fps is great! But, I do have a question what about the “Enhanced Resolution” title in the trailer? The game still runs at the same resolution as PS4 Pro (2560×1440). Thank you.
Also, Dual Sense does not have a flashlight click sound effect anymore. A bug?

I know it’s beyond the scope of this patch, and I know you can’t say anything further, but please consider a director’s cut of this game.
So much of it’s beautifully done, but I think the non-linear style of storytelling hurts it more than it helps. There were characters that I killed before I’d met them, so rather than *feeling* sadness at their deaths, I was just able to logically connect distant events.
Thanks for the patch, I shall download soon. I’ll buy a remaster if it comes with a linear director’s cut! :)
Eh. *Yawn*. Thats the most political statement Ive read in a while. Naughty Dog are so caught up in their own success, its going to their heads while studios like: Bend, Insomniac, and especially Sucker Punch are the underdogs. Havent Naughty Dog seen enough success to start passing that along to their brothers in the industry? And Sony are playing favorites giving the platform to Naughty Dog rather than really making any kind of effort to elevate any of the other studios. Jim Ryans a moron, but youd figure even with his British pride, he want to see success under his regime come from his own homeland to boast of Europes success and not those old Yanks, wouldnt ya think?

Hey Arne, you guys celebrated the 5th anniversary of Uncharted 4 last week and it would have been a great opportunity to also announce a 60FPS Patch. Hopefully you guys have the time and resources to make this happen!!! The Last of Us 2 and Uncharted 4 are two Masterpieces that will look and feel the best at 60FPS!!!

Comprei o jogo no PS4 zerei ele e queria curtir mais o jogo só que agora no modo Punitivo, mais quem disse que o jogo quer rodar ? é só eu ser detectado ou atirar em alguém o jogo da tela azul aparece um código de erro e fecha, AC Valhalla estava assim tm bm, mais arrumou com alguns PATCH que saiu, pow meu ? da um jeito ai Sony, paguei pelo o jogo quero jogar mais ele
Some outlets are reporting that this patch also adds Dualsense haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support.
Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not? Because if it is, I might pick this up when it’s on sale next week.

Great, but I finished this twice only half a year ago and feel no need to replay soon. An Uncharted 4 upgrade would’ve been more appreciated.
In general I’m quite disappointed with how few games have gotten upgrades and don’t want to replay them without.

Amazing update. I had been anticipating a 60fps update ever since we saw such improvements for the PS5 Backwards Compatible catalogue of games. If I may, I would like to request a few other games that I would love to see updated to 60 FPS.
These are:
Death Stranding (the PC version is hard to come back from!)
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Bloodborne
Gravity Rush 2
The Last Guardian (I know it’s possible with v1.00, but it’s inconvenient to say the least)
Detroit: Become Human
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
