PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita Will Continue Operations

Players will be able to continue to purchase games on PS3 and PS Vita.

Recently, we notified players that PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita devices was planned to end this summer. 

Upon further reflection, however, it’s clear that we made the wrong decision here. So today I’m happy to say that we will be keeping the PlayStation Store operational for PS3 and PS Vita devices. PSP commerce functionality will retire on July 2, 2021 as planned. 

When we initially came to the decision to end purchasing support for PS3 and PS Vita, it was born out of a number of factors, including commerce support challenges for older devices and the ability for us to focus more of our resources on newer devices where a majority of our gamers are playing on. We see now that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue purchasing classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to continue operations.

I’m glad that we can keep this piece of our history alive for gamers to enjoy, while we continue to create cutting-edge new game worlds for PS4, PS5, and the next generation of VR.

    SONY please add ALL PSP games on VITA store.
    I want to buy some (list above) but they don’t appear on store.
    I’m sure that there are others I want that don’t appear.
    There are even PS1 games I want that don’t appear.
    It would be great to have them ALL on PS Vita store as long as the prices are reasonable like the PS1 games under 10 euros and PSP games under 20.
    They are old games anyway and it’s better to sell some than none.
    Please SONY think about it.

    Hello again SONY, I want to buy PSP and PS1 games for my VITA but they don’t show up on VITA PS Store.

    Can you add ALL PS1 And PSP games for sale?

    I like the 2 analogs on VITA and most of those games would play good on it.

    Having the PS1 games under 5 euros and PSP games under 10 euros would sell good.

    Right now the selection of PS1 and PSP is very limited and there are so many games not listed 😔

      Agreed with this. That’s why honest players still want support sony, developers, and publishers.
      Let all regions get the same things for this classics purchase service.
      It this the time for psp, ps1, and ps2 become classics games for ps vita, ps3, ps4, or ps5… .

    Although we are thrilled that that PSN Stores on the PS3 and PS Vita will remain open, but this ain’t over yet. You want us to be happy with our PS3, PSP and PS Vita content, make a separate PSN webstore for those three aforementioned consoles, completely separated from the other PSN store that has PS4 and PS5 content only. Then, only then, we will be truly happy. We don’t want to see anymore of “A Error has Occurred” when we are shopping.

    Why can’t I play Fat Princess on the PS store anymore. I bought it for ps3 along with the DLC content, but I have a ps4 I can’t re-download it or play it. Why? I bought it. Do I get my money back? Not that I what my money I’d rather go back to playing it but I can’t because it’s gone. Very upsetting I love that game. Can someone please put it back in the store so I can re-download it along with the DLC content.

    I love to play my old games on my PlayStation 3. I would be very happy if I could play the same games on my PlayStation 4 as well as my PlayStation 5 console. I’m happy that you didn’t close the ps3 and vita store but I think you have a bigger problem on your hands. You’re not giving a way for gamers to play things what they have already purchased for newer consoles on previous platforms like your competitor.

    Shoyldve just stuck the Cell inside the ps5 along with whst is already in there and tjat is that. I have a ps3 and wont be upgrading to a bew cobsole until it can play ps3 exclusives.. Probably will have to wait for the ps6… I’ve got over 150 ps3 games and I’ll simply waitnuntil hey do what microsoft has done.

      Horizon Zero Dawn has over 35k reviews on Steam (the median steam game has about 1 review per 50), even assuming an abnormally high 10% review rate that’d be 350k purchases.

      Seems like the fans like it.

    But I love my ps3.
    I will buy a ps5 as soon as there are more.

    I can’t see any of my PS3 or Vita games in my game library, and your support pages don’t how to get my PS3 library, either. I guess that’s the green flag to jailbreak my Vita/PS3 so I can pirate games I already paid for, and then some!

    Sony’s just asking for gamers to jailbreak their consoles. You give us a 2 month warning to download all our stuff? If you make it hard for users to legitimately access software they purchased, they’re just going to pirate your software. Why would anyone buy games from you now?! I can’t see anything on PlayStation Store besides PS4 and PS5. If I want any of the games I legitimately bought from your services, I now cannot get them and ironically the only way for me to play old games I legally own is to pirate them now. Way to go, Sony.

      Unfortunately you have to access the store on a ps3 console to see ps3 offerings for purchase. I agree that it’s a dumb design, but you can do it. If you just want to access ps3 software you’ve already purchased, you can view the download list on your ps3 console, and circumvent the store entirely.

    Please find a way to have ps3 games downloadable on ps4/5 games as well as psvita games via ps now or integrate both stores to offer both libraries and to be compatible with ps4/5. Those libraries of games should not be lost at any cost
    Do your best, we know maybe it is challenging but it is worth it

    And despite everything Sony STILL CAN’T BE BOTHERED TO FIX THE PS3 STORE!!! The add to cart button has been hidden because of someone’s sloppy coding since last year. FYI you simply click on a game’s page to add a selection to cart so long as you don’t move once landing on the page. If you move, you will deselected the add to button. It’s probably a super simple fix, so why haven’t they fixed it?

      You are able to move the cursor back to the purchase button if you move off of it accidentally. But it is a guessing game to know if you’re in the right spot since you can’t see it. Very dumb issue for the user/consumer to deal with, I agree.

    I’m just glad that the Vita still has online capabilities, I was still a very avid Killzone player (there’s actually a lot of us) there’s still a good amount of old PS1 games to get. And who knows I’ll probably try to snag Shank 1&2 while the PS3 is still running as well.

    I’ve been purchasing games from the Play Station Store for quite some time. However, I was wondering if you could do PS Store users a big favor. Would it please be possible to offer or upload several PS One games on the PS Store (US or UK)?

    I’m extremely interested in downloading the following games:

    • Silent Hill: Origins (PSP)
    • Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (PSP)
    • Sega Mega Drive Classics(PSP)
    • Apocalypse (PS One Classic)
    • MedEvil 2 (PS One Classic)

    This makes me very happy, because PS1 and PS2 games can get expensive. However, on my PS3, the “Buy” option in the PSN store isn’t working….Definitely need to address that.

      I gave a similar response on another comment, but I’ve managed to work around the missing button issue on the store.

      I experimented with it a little bit. It turns out the icons are actually still there, but aren’t visible. I have to guess where the cursor is in order to make a purchase since I can’t see them. But I agree, they should fix that so it’s not a trial and error guessing game to actually make a purchase.

    I’m not going to beat around the bush. But it would be nice if there was a way that Sony could emulate P3, on the PS4, and/or PS5, because it’s already been done. There are still games that are great from that platform, that aren’t available. Where I live space is limited, so being able to use one console for all my PlayStation games on my PS4 Pro, and probably PS5 in the future would be great

    Sony, friendly advice: you should probably announce this decision by EMAIL! You sent an email to playstation account holders about closing the digital stores. I can’t imagine why you’d announce a reversal of this decision in a forum where a very small fraction of those who received that email will see.

    The PS3 store is still broken as games that I bought doesn’t say purchased, the icon is invisible hidden when find it by pressing X button a notice pops up “sorry you can’t purchase”

    I took a few photo and already posted on Twitter.

    I look at my download list my games are still there but it isn’t idea way to get my games quicker.
