Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches this week on PS4, PS5

Brand-new launch trailer debuts, and PS4-to-PS5 game upgrade path detailed.

Hey everyone,

It’s finally here! Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches on PS5 and PS4 worldwide on Thursday, November 12! From all of us at Insomniac, we’re so excited for you to finally get your hands on the game this week. We’re celebrating with you, and excited to play alongside you whether on your brand-new PS5 console or trusty PS4 or PS4 Pro.

We have one last trailer to celebrate launch. Check it out:

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches this week on PS4, PS5

The launch trailer gives you one last look at Miles’s new home in East Harlem, and the threats that he will face as he rises to the challenge of becoming a Spider-Man. You may notice your first look at some characters we haven’t shown in motion yet.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is releasing for both PS4 and PS5. We know not all of you will be upgrading to PS5 console at the same time, so it was critical to us to offer an upgrade path from the PS4 console to the PS5 console at no extra cost. This way you can feel confident playing the game on PS4 this week (which is gorgeous and plays beautifully!), knowing your game can come with you if you decide to purchase a PS5 console.

Upgrades for disc copies of the PS4 version of the game are only available if you have a PlayStation®5 console with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive. To obtain your upgrade, you will need to insert your PS4 Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales game disc into your PlayStation 5 console with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive, navigate to the Game Hub and select the upgrade offer to download a digital version of the PS5 version of the game, which you can then play while your PS4 disc is in the drive.

If you purchase a digital copy of the PS4 version of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales game, you can simply navigate to the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Game Hub on your PS5 console and select the upgrade offer to download the PS5 version. Note: you will need to log into your PS5 console with the same PlayStation Network account that you were using when you purchased the PS4 version of the game.

Additionally, if you buy a digital copy of a PS5 edition of the game, you can also download the standard PS4 version on your PlayStation 4 console*, in case you’d like to play while waiting for your PS5 console to arrive. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales features a save export feature from PS4, so you can export your saved game progress and then reimport on your PS5.

You may have also noticed that we’re offering an Ultimate Edition of the PS5 game. This edition includes Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PS5. If you do purchase a standard edition of the game on PS4 or PS5, you can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition later for $20. If you purchased the PS4 version of the game, you will first need to upgrade to the PS5 version of the standard edition using the upgrade path set out above. Any user playing the PS5 standard edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, who doesn’t have Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, will see an option at the bottom of the main game menu to take advantage of a paid upgrade to the Ultimate Edition, which allows you to download Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

We are also offering amazing bonus content (which you can still take advantage of for a few more days) for those of you that purchase a digital copy of the game by November 19, 2020! Pre-order or make an early purchase to receive: an early unlock of two bonus suits, the Gravity Well Gadget, and 3 Skill points. You may have seen us reveal the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse suit recently and its amazing Vibe the Verse suit mod. If not, here’s a refresher:

If you are based in Canada or the US and purchase a physical Launch Edition copy of the game, the bonus content will be delivered as a voucher already inside the game package  (while supplies last).

Finally, did you catch our CG TV commercial that started airing on television worldwide last week? If not, here’s another look. Special shout out to Jaden Smith, who collaborated with us on the piece with his brand-new track: I’m Ready.

We’re not done yet, more new info will be coming this week as we countdown to launch. We’re so excited for you to return to a snowy Marvel’s New York when Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales comes out globally on PS4 and PS5 console on November 12*.

*Complimentary Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales standard game download for the PS4 system only available on a PSN account with a digital purchase of a PS5 edition of the game.

  • Really hope we see a revert or update to the party system soon

  • How can it launch globally this week on ps5, if the ps5 doesn’t launch globally this week, smh…

  • So hyped on this. Don’t watch the trailer if you care about character spoilers tho.

  • Since midnight launches are no longer a thing in the pandemic era, Sony should allow retailers to release PS5 reservations early on Wednesday afternoon. This way some people would get theirs then, and the rest on Thursday since some people would opt to wait or they are tied up with mid-week business and family matters. It would reduce the number of people in proximity to each other on Thursday and thus more COVID safe by assisting a natural less crowded social distancing.

  • Excited about this for launch, even if it’s extended DLC priced as a full game…

Getting Sackboy too and expected Ratchet & Clank to be a launch title too.

I’ll hold off on Demon’s Souls with Cyberpunk 2077 coming in, too expensive for a remake too.

Kind of bummed I have to get the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077, would rather get a PS5 version instead of an upgraded digital version.

  • WTH is wrong with Sony? I just watched two videos, one with Michael B. Jordan and another with a pro tennis player. Why are Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo so out of touch? Did you ever consider showing up at some random gamer’s house or job and bringing them a PS5? You know the every day gamer that pays your salary? Most of us will never meet Michael Jordan and we really do not care. Maybe he is a nice guy but really Eric Lempel. Pull your head out of your rear end and try appealing to the average gamer. Michael Jordan in a Sony video says celebrities matter more to Sony than the average gamer that keeps your company in business. I have two PS5s preordered. I am paying your salary and you step on people like me. Gaming companies have really forgotten how to pay homage to the people that keep them in business in the first place.

    • 2 preordered.

hmm exactly why people like me cannot even get one.

the reason they use tennis pros and actors to show off the system and the dual sense is classic marketing
they already have core gamers we buy regardless. they are after the general market,

maybe use your brain, instead of hoarding ps5s.

    • Dude, are you stupid? You aren’t paying even a sliver of their salary, it costs them around $450 USD to produce ONE PS5. Company’s need to raise the price on their products so that they make money from sales instead of losing money from production. Also most people can’t even afford a PS5 so they are probably losing money instead of gaining money. Personally I think they should RAISE the PRICE more. That way they can make more of a profit. If anything they are being generous with their prices. On numerous sources and articles, you will find statements such as, “As such, PS5 production is being cut down from 15 million to 11 million from now to March 31, 2021 – a four million unit drop over the next six months.”. Now let’s go back to when I mentioned that it costs around $450 to produce one PS5, for them to produce 11 million PS5’s by March 31st 2021, it would cost about $4,950,000,000 USD, it will most likely cost them more because the PS5’s hardware component prices are rising. If they were to succeed in selling all 11 million they would make $5,500,000,000 USD, possibly more if they are forced to raise prices. So do you really think Sony is stepping on “people like you”. You sound so entitled, even if they are doing good with their sales at this point in time, doesn’t mean that they won’t have an EXTREME fall in profits. You should really do research before you just assume that they don’t give you free stuff because you “keep them in business”. But if you are looking for “free stuff”, there’s something called… *DRUMROLL*…. Sony Rewards. NO WAY, SONY ACTUALLY HAS A REWARDS PROGRAM TO REWARD US FOR GAMING AND MAKING PURCHASES?!?! That’s not all, you get points (the “currency” used to claim rewards, just by doing things like making purchases, gaming, unlocking trophies in your games. Oh? You want the details on what you have to do to get points? Sure why not! You get 1 point for ever $1 spent on the PlayStation store (a $120 game would get you 120 points), you can earn EXTRA POINTS on the PlayStation store if you’re subscribed to two services (if you have PS+ and PS-NOW, you will get 2x points, so if you bought a $120 you’d get 240 points) if you bought a $1000 camera on the Sony rewards app, you’d receive 5,000 points because as of right now you can receive 5x points if you purchase in the “cameras, lenses & accessories” category. If you make ANY purchase using a Sony or PlayStation Visa Credit Card. You even earn points for doing something called “registering discs”, you can do blu-Ray and DVD discs AND you get 45 points for only ONE disc. There is also a feature called “upload movie tickets”, you just take a picture of your ticket stub and upload it for 200 points per stub. THEN You can redeem them for PS Store Codes and all sorts of stuff. So don’t go around claiming that Sony doesn’t care, it makes you sound entitled when you think you deserve free PS5’s and headsets and stuff.

  • My son is interested in this, and it is looking a christmas front runner for games. switch is very weak this holiday, but he is enjoying mario all stars currently, especially galaxy.

I like that you are offering some good upgrade options for people, for what is essentially a game i would pass on as it is glorified dlc for 7hour one villain story arc in the exact same city. with the extra mission and suits you can pad that more. but at $65 cad this is a tall ask for what it actually is, when uncharted lost legacy launched that was $49.99 cad and i waited despite being a big uncharted fan for similar reasons. that game had completely new environments not the same city with snow and new window dressing.

you want people to buy the ultimate ps5 edition or to upgrade to the remastered ed for $20 usd. I bought the original game at launch, i bought all the dlc and i have platinumed the game and 100% the dlc. the only thing that remains is finish the game again and on ultimate which i would consider your ultimate ed or add on buy when i get a ps5, but there is no save migration at all. I don’t really have any interest playing it again in ps5 with a new parker face and losing all of the hours of grinded progress.

why do you not offer 1080p 60fps raytracing mode for people still playing on 1080p? the ps5 is not supporting 1440 but come on tons of people will buy a ps5 and play on 1080.

    congrats on the launch.

  • If it comes out Thursday why does is say I can play it 8pm Wednesday the 11th? U.K

    • It all depends on the location the game is getting released. So since the game is coming out on Thursday, it could be getting released in a region that is 4 hours ahead of you.

This is what happened to many people that bought Crash 4: It’s About Time. The game released at Midnight UTC so it was available to download at 8 PM CST.

  • Hi Insomniac, I just wanted to ask you, if I pre-order Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales in CD format from a dealer, will the new costumes and other pre-order bonuses be included?

  • I just want to thank everyone responsible for adding the ability to play this game on ps4 even if you pre-purchased the ps5 edition, very nice touch, and It is greatly appreciated by I imagine many people, myself included. Things like this that make people talk. We were wondering if it was going to possible to play it while we waiting just in case we end up having to wait for our ps5’s. Awesome job!

  • So hyped!

  • Just got the PS5 and Spider-Man disk. It won’t play. I keep getting crash reports. Anyone else having this issue?

  • Thank you for detailing how to upgrade to the ultimate edition. For a minute I thought I was going to miss out.

  • I bought the PS4 physical disk, but I have a PS5. PS5 shows an option to COPY the game as soon as I insert the disk. Does anybody knows if I have to COPY the game into the PS5 first before upgrading? Or I can upgrade it WITHOUT copying the game?

  • I can’t find the upgrade and i’m getting really sad :(

  • The new Spider Man should be free to any Spider-Man PS4’s or those PS4’s should be given the free PS5 update to their PS4 console I think that would be a great idea and I bet the rest of the PS community will like this idea too.

Please be considerate of this idea

    -A fellow gamer
