PlayStation 5: Launch Day Ordering Update

Launch-day sales will be online-only this year, so please plan ahead.

Hi all – the launch of the PlayStation 5 console on November 12 (or November 19, depending on your region) is almost upon us! In the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst COVID-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.

No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.

Gamers who have pre-ordered for pick-up at their local retailer should still be able to do so at their designated appointment time, under the retailer’s safety protocols. Please confirm the details with your local retailer.

    Biggest scam since 9/11 and somy is just adding on to the problem!! Dam shame!! I was looking forward to standing in lime at walmart with mo mask at 5am until they open @ 7am.. shame on U sony!!!!!

    To any Sony representative that will listen!! Online purchases are great but the only thing you are doing by this action is padding people with bots pockets as they snag all these systems up in a fraction of a sec before any normal person could actually purchased one. The online purchase system is designed for bots and no normal person will be able to get one. So sad to hear that you are doing nothing but catering to bots and making resellers richer, only to disappoint many kids on this already dismal year. Many Christmas will be ruined due to your decision.

    Everyone complaining…🤣 Should of been paying attention!! I scored 2 Ps5s from walmart!!!! Should of kept hitting refresh… cry in your mommy’s basement to all that hate…. guess what!! Since I scored on 2… One went to my brother for a present!!! Stop whinging!!! You’ll get one!! Good things come to those who wait..

    I would just assume buy it directly from Sony. And what happened to the special email invite. At this point, being a loyal sony customer since the 80s, I’m a little frustrated. (When I mean 80s I mean other hardware)

    Everyone complaining – do you realize you don’t have to buy it? If Sony don’t want your money why are you so insistent on giving it to them? I’ll just buy an xbox instead. Or a new video card for my PC. Sony can keep their precious ps5. Hopefully by the time ps6 is out they’ll have learned their lesson.

    Hi all newbie here just to say that I unfortunately was not one to be able to purchase a ps5 on release day thanks to Game messing up my order and cancelling it . So hopefully I will get a ps5 soon. Hope that the lucky ones will have great fun and I will keep my ears open for when the next batch are being sold( hopefully soon).

    I will not be buying a PS5 anytime soon. The games are way overpriced, the console is far to big for what it is.

    I’ve just found out there’s no Resume functionality, it doesn’t support 1440p. Is there anything Honestly thing more the Sony is keeping in the closet about PS5?

    You can’t even use the Dualsense controller on PS4 but you can PS3🤦‍♂️ Honestly the mind boggles. Sony really is a 🤪 company.

    My interest for the PS4 was pretty high, not so for the PS5 especially with the games that will be available.

    I might consider buying a PS5 in 2022. Hopefully by then a smaller and better designed model will be available with lot’s more and cheaper games.

    I’m only interested in Elden Ring atm. Which is likely to release in 2022.

    No thank you from me loyal to playstation since day bought every system made and never looked back never had issues on buying systems on release but yall wait till the greatest one of all drops to pull this crap disrespectful how yall announced the pre order of the few systems available get things back on track and this is frustration from a true ps customer day 1 not someone who came aboard later down the years

      Well i did 3 times an 2 in person

      That’s 5 tries 5 fails

      I tried the first second i got

      I couldn’t even finish before the site crashed

      They could have tents out side the store

      There’s a million ways to get this done

      I def feel online is the best way to keep things mad an crazy

      Last time orders went in to effect
      They were sold out in 2 hours most places in just seconds

      you got to the store to buy groceries or have you been locked in the basement the whole year. stop fear mongering. you can go out during covid and wear masks and social distance. they could have easily come up with a safer method to buy in store or at least fix the online purchase system so bots wouldn’t get the majority of the inventory.

    Ummm I been said this was going to happen. The reason there aren’t any pre-orders in Nov is because they launched early ( which gave out the majority in phase 1) so if they spent they allotments they’ll also have less for launch
    Of course check major retailers!!!!!!!!!
    Again here’s a little clue 😁

    Even though some will have launch day console’s don’t leave out Nov. 27th

    TY PS for putting health and safety first as many gamers will be anxious to participate in day 1 gaming. That’s the way to have lifetime support, good job putting your customers safety first. I did have a question though, how wide of an inventory will your base launch be?

    Hey I pre ordered my Ps5 but didn’t have enough money to ship and email to me to update before 8pm 11/08/2020 and that my order will be 1 to 2 days late because of Insufficient funds. So I put the rest of the money on there before the time only to realize the next day y’all still canceled my order. I’m confused

    What I want to know is how many PS5’s can Sony make each day of production? And what is the % split between each country they are releasing it to. That way I can have some appreciation of how long it might take to get one.

    Not entirely true. WALMART will have the preorders available for pick up until 12PM. If they’re not picked up, they will hit the floor and be available for the public. Giving y’all a heads-up!

    Sept. 30 wasn’t that long ago. Pre orders were swamped by bots. Orders on Nov. 12 are doomed unless you’re made of 1s and 0s.

    Yes there is preinfo you can buy ps5 online launch day, no camping in stores like i had planned to stay in 24/7 megamarket till ps5 appears.

    But will there be ps5 for everyone or if i buy it the second it go online do i have to wait 2021 or will it be shipped right away or ready for pickup. Whats the north europe situation for getting ps5 will there be enough or not?

    I spent all my saving to build 5k€ home theatre for the new playstation so i am passionate.
