PlayStation 5: Launch Day Ordering Update

Launch-day sales will be online-only this year, so please plan ahead.

Hi all – the launch of the PlayStation 5 console on November 12 (or November 19, depending on your region) is almost upon us! In the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst COVID-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.

No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.

Gamers who have pre-ordered for pick-up at their local retailer should still be able to do so at their designated appointment time, under the retailer’s safety protocols. Please confirm the details with your local retailer.

    Sony is NOT NO:1 ANY MORE XBOX IS LAUGHING AT YOU I AM DISAPPOINTED AND DISCUSSED WITH THE WAY YOU HAVE TREATED THE PS5 LAUNCH I COULD NOT PERORDER ONE ANYWERE ONLINE CHRISTMAS WILL BE BORING THIS YEAR NO PS4 NO ANYTHING AMAZON CANCELLED MY ORDER BUT SENT ME 3 GAMES AND CONTROLLER I ORDER.

      I traded it in on sept then game cancelled perorder next day got one with amazon 4 day later they cancelled it to late at that point to get one wave 2 came and when local game shop said there isn’t a wave 2 this is Game they also told me that sony told them 5milion ps5 exposed in testing and that why perorders where mess-up.

    Poor decision, considering the amount of people who aren’t getting a playstation 5 this year (myself probably included) I mean how many people are you letting have PS5’s? A few hundred?… Over a virus that is skyrocketing anyway. I’ve been faithful to playstation since PS1. Yet, look at what I got to show for it. 😅 Your complaint letters must’ve been telling you just put ’em on shelves… Hell I’d risk the virus for a PS5… I’m already risking it stepping outside every morning anyway…

    I wanted to get the ps5 but with all this hassle and people using bots to get ps5 , its like a sign ill just stick to my computer and save my money a pc is way better any way

    In Europe no online sales. All stocks are controlled by scalpers. Do we get more stock? I dont find any in shop or online in Netherlands.

    This is trash I have been a loyal paying customer since the very first PlayStation spent over thousands of dollars everytime I talk to somebody I even went to the PlayStation site still can’t get away station and all these people buying teen play spaces to sell them for double and triple the price online it’s a bit ridiculous PlayStation really dropped the ball on this I’m very disappointed very disappointed haven’t been able to find a PS5 don’t think I’m going to be able to get one seriously thinking about switching to Xbox!!!!!!😡😡😡😡🤬

    I feel like you (Sony) owe us some transparency here. I’d like to believe that we’re mostly reasonable people and there’s an understanding that 2020 is a year of extraordinary circumstances, but as far as I can tell Sony have made pretty much zero effort to clarify when there will be new stock available. I sat refreshing Amazon for 3 hours on Thursday. I watched the disk drive version go live and sell out, hoping to buy the digital edition which as it turned out wasn’t going to be available anyway. Ultimately I’m not overly bothered if I have to wait until spring to get one, but it would be nice to know. I need to have money put aside in a time when finances are uncertain. Do the bare minimum and give us at least some information.

    I mean I get the “Safety Protocols” with Covid….. But did we not stop and THINK about BOTS!!! Like Jesus Christ what a joke man… Even after the 1st wave of releases, you’d think you guys plus all the other distributors would realize how people have no chance against bots & correct it. But I guess as long as the money is legit no one cares cool….

    So why are the scalpers purchasing these systems as quickly as they become available and then resale on Amazon and Ebay? Maybe you need to release more of these systems!

    How can I not get a PS5 at launch… really disappointed in Sony for this fiasco. I am a Loyal play station fan.. and I am sure I will remain one, but ya’ll are making it more adversely unforgettable.

    I’m going to have 3 very disappointed boys for Christmas. This was the only thing on all of their lists and it is impossible to find. It makes me so sad for kids. I’m not a gamer. I’m a mom. I had no idea they would be sold this way or I would have pre ordered to get one. 😭

    Bots are buying all the consoles in less then 1 min. Its gonna be forever before i can get my hands on a ps5. I tired last night but no luck. I wish they would just sell them in store.

    It’s a disaster, impossible to get one as the scalpers take everything the second it becomes available. It’s the retailers that did not follow Sony’s advice to plan ahead this year because of online orders only, Sony ends up with it’s biggest launch ever and it’s the people like myself and others who have owned every Playstation console that get the short end of the stick. You Tube is full of videos where scalpers have dozens of machines piled for sale at 1000.00 US dollars each. Whatever nothing we can even do about it. Im certainly not spending a grand on one machine. Shame many of your biggest users will go without. Merry Christmas !

    Sony and the retailers rollout of the PS5 is a smack in the face to all gamers who have been dedicated and patiently waiting for years to play the next gen system. This is the biggest launch in Sony history only because they sold thousands of their units to bots and scalpers.

    What the hell? Then Sony exec give smug press statements how there is so much excitement with vague statements on new stock released sometime in the future. This flat out sucks and has soured the whole buying experience.

    What about your PS PLUS subscribers? We should have been contacted first for pre orders not bots.

    Your deliberate stock shortage scheme is just angering your customers not getting them excited. Get it figured out!!!

So do us all a favour and stop selling all the PlayStation 5 to all the scalpers out there and let the gamers actually buy a PlayStation 5 because they are taking your profits and making money of the playstation name…….     Ridiculous. Sony knew this would be a problem. I don’t really care about getting one this year at this point. Great job Sony! All this talk about a great new console that nobody can get. If you can, the only other option is paying double, which I’ll NEVER do. I just ordered a controller from Sony. Signed in and clicked the “free” shipping. I’ve been a PSPlus member for a over a year and a STILL got charged for shipping. When I brought this to their attention, they argued with me that I didn’t have an account….WHILE I WAS SITTING THERE PHYSICALLY LOOKING AT ME SIGNED IN TO MY PSPLUS ACCOUNT. Sony……..I no longer have the love for your company and it’s products, that I used to. It’s clear that money is the only thing Sony cares about.

    This is a very late comment but seeing as how disastrous this whole launch has been for the average consumer, any chance you could let us know when they’ll be readily available in stores? The bots and scalpers are so bad that stores have resorted to not even informing when they are selling the consoles, and some of us actually have lives and can’t lay around waiting 24/7 checking every website to see when they drop.
