Upcoming Trophy levelling changes detailed

A quick tour of the enhancements rolling out tonight for Trophies.

Youā€™ve all heard that satisfying sound when a Trophy pops up on the corner of your screen. Thereā€™s the sense of accomplishment when that ultra-rare Platinum trophy is unlocked after hours of pursuing. Trophies were first introduced on PlayStation 3, and have been an integral part of the PlayStation gaming experience. Today, weā€™re excited to announce weā€™re bringing some enhancements to the Trophy system.

New Trophy Levels

The first thing youā€™ll notice is the big change to your Trophy level. Weā€™re increasing the Trophy level range from the current ā€œ1-100ā€ to ā€œ1-999,ā€ so following this update, your Trophy level will automatically be remapped to a new level within this new range based on the Trophies youā€™ve earned to date. For example, if your current Trophy level is 12, your new level will jump to somewhere in the low 200ā€™s. The exact level will depend on the number and grades of trophies youā€™ve acquired. There will be no changes to the Trophies already earned or Trophy information, such as unlock requirements.

New Level Calculation Structure

Weā€™ve implemented a new Trophies level calculation system that is more optimized and rewarding. Players will progress quicker through the early levels, and levels will increase more consistently. Platinum trophies will count more toward your level progression, making them even more valuable.

New Trophy Level Icons

With an expanded level range, weā€™re also updating the trophy level icon on PlayStation 5, as well as PlayStation App at a later date. Currently the Trophies icon is just a single gold star, but weā€™re adding a few variants:

  • Bronze: levels 1-299
  • Silver: levels 300 – 599
  • Gold: levels 600 – 998
  • Platinum: level 999

The icons will also have a subtle distinction to visually suggest how close you are to the next level.

Lastly, just for clarity, Trophies that youā€™ve earned on previous PlayStation systems will come with you to PlayStation 5, just as they have in previous generation transitions. The new Trophy levels will be reflected in all locations that Trophy levels are shown, including past systems, PS App and My PlayStation.

All of these updates will be automatically implemented on the system side, starting later tonight (North America) / tomorrow (Europe).

Weā€™re committed to offering an even better experience for our fans as we head into the next generation of gaming. We canā€™t wait for everyone to start racking up trophies in all the amazing upcoming games that are launching on PS4 and PS5!

  • After 10 Years You guys now try to do something!

  • How about you give us the party to delete old trophy games from my list? Just because I try a game and it gives me a trophy when I start the game z it should be in my list forever. Xbox can delete, why can’t you?

  • Why would they change it all together. It felt like a system that did not need changing.
And if any why not remove the 100 level cap. Itā€™s only confusing and in my opinion less rewarding cuz now all the numbers are over 100 and it feels less impressive. But that is my thought. Basically if it ainā€™t broke donā€™t try to fix it. Is my 2 cents.

  • good trophe

  • The only change I would like to see is some type of reward system for earning trophies. They could do a point system for trophies earned to redeem in ps store. Either for percentage off of a game or some other incentives. It would make more people interested in trophies and also would create more purchases in the ps store.

    • I agree that they should do this. Or at certain levels unlock cool themes and avatars and stuff. Just something!

  • Check yesterday, no changes made. Checked again today, no changes made. Checked for system updates and synced both days. Did Sony forget Canada is in North America, or have I overlooked something…?

    • There is nothing updated yet in America either. No clue why they would say its happening and than nothing actually happens.

    • My PS3 updated but my PS4 Pro and IOS App would not. Here is what I did to fix it. Power the PS4 down. Unplug for at least 20 minutes. Reconnect power, boot up and sign in. Then go to trophies and force a manual sync. The new level finally appears.

    • My lvl dont change and all my friends have lvl up exept for my. I talk with a playstation agent and he dont understand whats my problem .

  • How change is trophies

  • i’m feel like they just add 0 to your level
all to make beginners feel more proud

  • Where is the update? Its the bext day in America and my trophy list is still the same.

    • *next

  • The i don’t get the trophy systems theres no bonus to actually having it like what do we get? Just bragging rights but its so useless maybe if there was an incentive more people would actually care like is you get 1000 trophies than bam you get a free indy game or some money towards another game. Ultimately the trophy system is a joke and should be something that players actually look forward to doing not just for bragging rights its so redundant

  • I’m in the US and there is no change in my trophy level structure.

  • Was just wondering if this will continue to update as today goes on? Many of my friends havnt seen the change yet and they live near me, but i did.

  • lv9 now – 180
    lv13 now – 230
    me,lv61 now – 620.

    all for newbie

    • Seriously, this has to be a glitch. I was lv42 sitting at 506 right now, I should at the 800 range or something.

  • When is this supposed to take effect? I am seeing no difference at all. I am not some super gamer but nothing has budged. I have signed in and out of my account, rebooted the PS4 multiple times and nothing.

  • Hopeful that updates happen soon. :)

  • idk what you waiting for and expect. just go to your friend list on ps4 and most of them already new lv.
    lv.79 now 712…

  • I donā€™t see any change on my account, but I do see it on some friends accounts. How?!

  • like

  • Am I the only one with the trophy system not reflecting the new one?

    • No, I am experiencing the same thing. MY PS3 shows the new level but not my PS4 Pro, which is activated and is my main console. Also my IOS PS App doesn’t show the new level either.

  • I really hate this change.

I’ve been off my PS4 for a week or so and when I first saw my trophy level this evening I honestly thought I’d been hacked or somehow I’d messed something up and glitched my profile. It looks ridiculous. I still feel a little light headed and honestly my enthusiasm right now is at it’s lowest point. Things were already bad enough when Sony decided that your trophies earned without a profile of course wouldn’t have timestamps. This however… this is a joke.

  • This is odd. My PS4 will not update my level. Neither will the PS app. My PS3 updated my trophy level but nothing I have done from restarts to signing out and in is working.

  • Why my trophies donā€™t change yet

  • Some of the people on my friends list have the updated level but some don’t.

  • Ų§Ł„Łˆ

  • any idea as to why my new account level disappeared. today iwas at 264 now im back to 15?

  • Hi all!!

All my friends has been set on the new trophy appearance. But iā€™m not… i tried to sync trophys but nothing changed. I restart the console, nothing changed….

What i do wrong guys? šŸ˜‰

  • Mine hasn’t updated or changed at all, still sitting at the same number

    • My PS3 updated but my PS4 Pro and IOS App would not. Here is what I did to fix it. Power the PS4 down. Unplug for at least 20 minutes. Reconnect power, boot up and sign in. Then go to trophies and force a manual sync. The new level finally appears.

  • Hello – I logged into my PSN to be delighted with the new Trophy update, however I think I am currently having some form of glitch; I have over 11,679 Trophies with 133 Platinum’s, sitting at the new level of 506. I was level 42 before this update and based on this blog post stating that if you are level 12, you should be at the low 200s, I should somewhere around the 800-900 range.

There are people with about 3000 Trophies in my friends list with no Platinum at all sitting at the 300 range. Curious if there’s going to be some form of correction?

  • My PS3 updated but my PS4 Pro and IOS App would not. Here is what I did to fix it. Power the PS4 down. Unplug for at least 20 minutes. Reconnect power, boot up and sign in. Then go to trophies and force a manual sync. The new level finally appears.

  • Until now I didn’t even know which level I was. Personally I don’t care what is the number of some level. I just enjoy pursuing platinum trophies. Every time I talk to someone about trophies, I just ask how many platinum trophies does the person have and from which games.
So I would really appreciate if they gave the levels some kind of meaning. Like rewards for achieving some level… Avatars, themes… I would go as far as some extra discounts to PSStore…
    My opinion. Nothing else.

  • I was hoping for more of an overhaul. I wanted to see trophy progress tracking like on Xbox and a weekly comparison to friends and such.

Also thought it would be cool to have a type of “trophy room” attached to your profile where you can visibly show off the trophies you are most proud of.

  • I do like these changes, though. Just was hoping for more features instead of, basically, aesthetic numerical changes.

  • The new trophy system updated on PS3, but not on PS4.

  • Happy for upgrades, but the platinum icon isn’t even a trophy anymore… why change it? It’s awesome as it is.

Also when will we have the ability to view gametime for a title?

  • Hmm… as a trophy hunter i kind of think this cheapens it…. you used to have to work hard to level up and now i went from 19 to 327 overnight, feels like a lot of that work is invalidated because now ive skipped 300+ levels…. i wanted to hit 20 before 2020 was over and i was only 2% away from that and now it will never happen…

  • Can anyone help me my trophie still haven’t updated for some reason my ps4 is up to date but no change and im in North America

  • I think this is excellent! I’m glad the Trophy system is getting some attention. One of my favorite things is falling in love with a game and deciding to uncover everything it has, and getting that Platinum at the end. Fantastic!

  • Huh? These are useless aesthetic changes. How about adding actual benefits to trophy hunting? Like provide certain discounts or credits depending on your level?

  • Any chance you will add the option to delete unwanted tropies? Also what about old multiplayer trophies of games we cannot platinum due to no server support or broken servers like rdr1 anymore? Please fix these. I would love to add many ps3 platinums to my collection but cannot at this time.

  • think youā€™re getting a bit carried away there. 51 is halfway between 1 and 100, so youā€™ll be in the 500s on the new system. Therefore you will get silver.

  • Trophies are fun of course, but I’ve always been curious as to what any of us actually gain from our PS trophy level, apart from being able to see how much gaming we do etc? (Answers on a postcard please.) Some form of rewards for leveling up would actually make the trophy level system worthwhile and more interesting though.

  • So where is this new update? Iā€™m still sitting at the same old level 36

  • This is great! Now you just need to let us delete old trophies/games from the list if we so choose. I don’t go after trophies to impress other people. I have played games that I didn’t like but now I’m stuck with unfinished trophies. PLEASE make this a thing. Thank you.

  • That’s great!! I love it. Thank you very much. Now all I need to know if destiny, fortnite and genshin are gonna be on ps5. And if they are, when? This will determen if and when ill get the console

  • Excelente noticia.

  • Platinum- always good to challenge yourself to a higher level!šŸ‘

  • Lookin forward to this!
Now make it so that we can delete trophy data of games we don’t want anymore PLS! :)

  • Anyone else not seeing their new level? I dusted off my Vita and could see it there, but not on my PS3, PS3, or from the PlayStation App.

Anyone have any idea if I have a setting switched off or something?

  • I see friends with the new level system but I don’t have it yet…do I have to do something?

  • I have had a trophy tonight but i am stil on level 16 not on level 200 +
