Tune in to see the future of gaming.
Update: We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4 until June 11 at 1pm Pacific / 9pm BST.
While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.
With each generation, from the first PlayStation to PlayStation 4, we aim higher and we push the boundaries further, to try and deliver better experiences for our community. This has been the mission of the PlayStation brand for more than 25 years. A mission I have been a part of nearly since the beginning.
There are few things as exciting as the launch of a new console. While this road to launch has been a bit…different, we are as thrilled as ever to bring you with us on this journey to redefine the future of videogames.
We’ve shared technical specifications and shown you the new DualSense wireless controller. But what is a launch without games?
That’s why I’m excited to share that we will soon give you a first look at the games you’ll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday. The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.
This digital showcase will run for a bit more than an hour and, for the first time, we will all be together virtually experiencing the excitement together. A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.
Please join us on Twitch or YouTube on June 4 11 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST to see what’s in store for the next generation of games. I hope we can make you proud.
The console would be in white and black combination. Same as the controller. Would not be bad in looks as always sony works on all the areas according to the time and generation. I know you guys will love it. It is really amazing.
I think we need a little joy in our lives, lately we only have bad news, it would be great to have an event like this to cheer us up a little and make us hope and motivated to look at a better future, I think it’s a shame you cancel this event, I think that would only sadden us more.
I’m a black male Frontline Healthcare worker myself as well as several of my colleagues whom have looked forward to the event all week but every escape and avenue to cope with an unbelievable few months have been taken away from us we need something to give us hope that normalcy with eventually resurface again trust me I know the severity of the situation i live it everyday and a little less than a year ago had an almost fatal encounter with police but good Samaritans prevented tragedy just one hour to take our minds away from reality is not insensitivity its therapy
Sorry, but i can’t understand this delay. Sure, many problems are affecting the US right now, and even the word with this pandemic. But a console launch has nothing to do with any of this, neither can stole or minimize any voices speaking in their behalf. On the contrary, know that something is gonna happen that is GOOD for me and can bring me – and many others – some joy in this future is heartwarming. We are already full of bad news, please give us some good.
Damnit dude! Another postponement!? This was the only thing I had to look forward to in these horrible times. How many more times?
in support of your more important voices announcement i am postponing indefinitely my plans to be interested in the new console in order to allow more important activities to be enjoyed.
And now you are uninvited.
100% behind you on the delay. Video games are a form of entertainment, a distraction that is really not warranted at this time. In the grand scheme of things, this is insignificant.
Let’s see deadly pandemic, Steve been stuck in the house since at least march, nothing on the news these days but doom and gloom. Unless you’re into BDSM and are a self cutting emo masochist. I’d say a distraction from all this BS is EXACTLY what we need.
So dramatic… I reckon you could probably find something to amuse yourself with, if you think hard enough?
Also I dunno who the hell Steve is I meant “we’ve” lol. Also ways to amuse myself you’re right, how about I invite my board game group over to play games? Oh wait that’s right we cant do that anymore because of covid. Maybe I should take someone on a date to a restaurant… oh wait cant do that either. I know!!! I’ll just go the movies like I used to do EVERY week. Oh wait cant do THAT anymore either. Remind me how I should amuse myself again?
@DuoMaxwell007 The point is that this is only a showcase meant to last an hour. If your sanity hinges on that one hour of entertainment (or the hype of upcoming games), then I would suggest that it is unsustainable.
Listen, I don’t mean to be a d!ck, and I’m genuinely sorry if your mental health is affected by the lockdown. I completely understand. Mine is as well. But when you casually throw a sentence like “Unless you’re into BDSM and are a self cutting emo masochist.” into the ring, you do come across as a bit dramatic.
As for entertainment, I haven’t looked at your gamerscore, but surely there are games out there that you haven’t played yet? Or replay one of your favourites via shareplay with a friend. Shake it up a bit and play it drunk, try a no-hit run or a completely different challenge. The sky’s the limit.
P.S. Love the Steve typo – maybe you could play with him. :-p
Man,stop with this nonsense. The man who did this is behind bars. What else do you want others to do?Do you really think all the gamers in Europe or the US are sitting at home, thinking about the political situation in America?Jim said about some voices to be heard,I am sorry, what voices? The ones who loot and pillage the US cities?
@Pretorarek, The voices against systemic racism. It is a global issue, mate, and it affects you whether you like it or not.
Sometimes it just takes a catalyst to open up larger issues like this, and the killing of George Floyd was just that – a catalyst. It was an action that is symptomatic of a much larger problem, and it is THAT problem those “voices” are speaking about now. Why don’t you try listening to them – and don’t let yourself get too distracted by the rioters.
Regarding this delay: When some people have waited for centuries just to be treated like people, I think the rest of us can at least wait for some video game announcements, no?
You should turn in your gamer card and go back to protesting then.
You’re part of the problem!
@travisg76 I love that you wrote those two sentences right after each other without a hint of irony. :-D
I am fairly certain I’ve been a gamer for longer than you, and I think I’ll stick around a while longer, thanks honey.
