As the 2010s drew to a close, we asked you to scan through an impressive list of games and choose three that stood out as the best of the past 10 years. Now, the votes are in, the winners are known, and it’s time to share your pick for game of the decade.

But why stop with just the top choice? We’ve also gathered the top 20 entries, which combine to form one hell of a list. How many of your picks are below?

The Last of Us
Platinum Trophy Winner

When we started the poll, we had a feeling we’d see Joel and Ellie near the top. Turns out the characters, drama, and grisly action in The Last of Us left such an unforgettable impression on players that it received over 11% of all votes to become the Game of the Decade Platinum winner.

God of War
Gold Trophy Winner

Kratos’ legendary journey wowed the world and brought home all manner of awards in 2018. Today, it proudly brandishes the Gold trophy atop a mountainous list of incredible games.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Silver Trophy Winner

Players tossed a vote to their Witcher enough times to earn it a Silver trophy. Like God of War, Wild Hunt won many awards in its release year and remains a popular adventure to this day.

      I’ve never even played GTA V or Fortnite, but it should be obvious to anyone who follows the industry that Skyrim, Fortnite and GTA V are on a totally different level than the other titles on this list.

      I have played most of the games on this list.i agree with the bias claim.and hope we get much better results with new war gaming development. Such as hunter killer sub games and strategic realistic ideologies that make your brain work over time.but something we can control. And enjoy! Thes games are great. But not very realisticly formated. Come on ps4 .make us all happy .have categories. Best war game.or best space game best fighting game.best sports game. Then you can give a gold to ea catagorie silver and so on. And batman is cooler than fortnite.and watch out for predator hunting grounds.to be the goat. And win the gold. I hope i hope i hope.

    Great list. Fully agree with No.1 and No.2 and it would be hard for me to put one higher than the other. Glad to see Spider-Man, Horizon, and Bloodborne so high too. Also nice to see Persona 5, Nier Automata, and Death Stranding make it into the top 20.

      Yeah man, and to be honest, I hate Fortnite, childish graphics, Bob the builder simulator, and putting in all the mainstream things just to milk every penny from the consumer. Oh, and don’t get me started on the V-bucks bull and that if you didn’t own any skins, you couldn’t control which character you were going to be, neither could you chose a gender of your default character, I mean come the f on, that is what I call bullying players into buying skins. Now while some of them are good, and most of them are, especially when the cartoonish nature of the game isn’t shown on the skin( like the knight armors, the stormtrooper armor etc.) basically anything that covered the cartoonish faces would do it for me, and no, I’m not talking about tomato head man or the banana guy, I’m talking the badass skins, armor, helmets, balaclavas that cover the face etc. you get the idea. Now as for the gunplay it can be fun, but most of the time it isn’t because it’s random, especially the shotgun, don’t get me started on the damn shotgun. Now I can rant here all day long but I have better things to do than rage about Fartnite all day and writing long @$$ comments on why it’s so bad, so yeah, this topic is now archived, further negative replies to this and any try to call me a hater will be ignored, if you agree that will not be ignored, and hey, let’s be honest, Apex really did deserve to replace Fortnite IMHO so yeah, gotta run boys

      Agree, I’m currently on my first playthrough and game is so boring. I think it is so overrated. Combat simple, voice acting not convincing, game mechanics shallow etc…overall overrated

    This list is far more respectable than the 2019 download list. It is weird seeing Fortnite on it. Mass Effect 2 (2010) is arguably the pinnacle of Bioware’s games, so it’s great knowing others recognize it. If Persona 4 Golden (2012) had been released on PS4, I suspect we would have seen it on the list. As someone pointed out already, not a single Yakuza game on the list means too many gamers haven’t discovered this great franchise.

    For games of the past decade it does seem overly top-heavy with relatively recent releases, especially Death Stranding (released 11/8/19).

      Recent games ALWAYS get a boost in surveys – anything really 8+ years old isn’t going to be seriously considered on its own, without a remake or sequel refreshing memories.

      The fact that a Last of Us sequel is about to come out probably gave it the boost to top the list overall – take this poll again just before a God of War sequel or a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel, and they’d score even higher.

      I’m kind of questioning Fortnite, too, but there’s no denying the genre has taken off, and it’s as good a representative as any.

      Recency bias? The Last of Us came out within the first 3 years of the decade lol. It got #1 and the game is 7 years old. Witcher 3, also, is like 5 years old.

    The fact that Persona 5 placed above NieR:Automata astounds me completely. I’m most utterly disappointed. I highly recommend investing some time into the NieR series because it’s one of the most beautiful series I’ve ever come to known. Yoko Taro is a pure genius with all of his works, and he deserves all the spotlight he can get.

    I agree with much of this list. I’d put Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain on there. I would rate Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 higher then GTA5. I would also put RE7 above RE2 but enjoyed both.

    Honorable mention for Fallout 4 and Far Cry 5.

    This last Decade was defined really by dark souls that idea of intent full action and difficulty was everywhere. Each Decade seems to have the new genre that defines it and the soulsborne was the genre of the 2010s

    Not good at all.
    Arkham was reason why some other games needed to be a waaay better till that time, because this new Batman games was so fun to play, combat system was so nice, so they made big impact on games like Spiderman (2018) etc.
    RDR 2 was a waaaay better than GTA 5 (also than God of War but that’s some other story)
    This make me sick really.

    The Witcher 3 should be below 10th place, no matter how game popular is, I think game is to overrated and has earned his success cause of hype.

    Personally I would add MGS V on the list, probably one of the best stealth games, story was unfinished cause of Konami-Kojima thing, but rest of the game is great.

      You’re right about Witcher 3. I got sold on the hype and bought it off PSN at discount price and came away disappointed. I’m finding it quite boring, actually, and I LOVE the show.

      I’d have Journey in the top 10, myself. Bloodstained as well as The Last Guardian.

      I love the last of us but I hated GTA V’s story mode. I liked the characters but man those missions were disappointing. You had to do everything in a specific order or else it’s “mission failed”.

    I guess I need to make time to play through the Red Dead Redemption and Witcher games. I have at least tried some game in series for all other games on this list (including Fortnite). My personal Game of the Decade from this list is Horizon Zero Dawn with God of War, The Last of Us, Skyrim, and Marvel’s Spider-Man battling within the 2nd-5th positions.

    My Favorite Game of the Decade or at least from 2010 – 2015 is MAG and nothing ever will change this. So sad nooby Call of Duty was Hype back than.

    Uncharted 3 online was very Awesome by the way. well until it gets shut down and didnt get proper replaced from Uncharted 4 online.

    Killzone 3 Story and Killzone 2 Multiplayer were the Perfect Scifi Shooter to there Times now ita Dead online and again didnt have a replacemant.

    I really miss Multiplayer games from Sony the current Gene there is no Game i would like to play online just for Fun.

    Last of Us is just a remaster.
    Killzone Shadow is worser than 2 and 3
    Gran Turismo Sport dont have proper rabking matches just 3 events per Week where the Qualifikation are unbeatable Day 2

    Thats a really sad generation for Multiplayer.

    I feel like Days Gone should’ve been on the list, at least 10th or above. Still can’t believe The Last Of Us made the first place, i love Naughty Dog games but that one i really didn’t enjoy that much, played it once after a year of the release and also played it this year when it was free on ps plus and i wasn’t even able to finish it because i got so bored of it. Also i think Apex should be standing there instead of Fortnite. Can’t judge other games cause i only played 7 games that are on the list.

    Fortnite is gutter trash , RE2 remake should be way higher more like tie for first with TLOU , uncharted 4 was amazing , even though Hideo Kojima is a genius , Death STranding is like 20 steps back for him also gutter trash . lots of love for MGS series though . Ive heard so many things about WITCHER , saw some gameplay footage and was like . what is all the hype about , i tried RDR2 wasnt bad but gameplay is way too slow. GTA V is more than BEYOND overrated, Just Cause 4 is million times better, game not on list but should be is The DIvision or even Ghost Recon Wildlands also overlooked, just started Assassins Creed Oddysy and origins but so far awesome games should also make the list over some these jokes.
