2017 was an incredible year for all kinds of games, but it's time to decide which one was the best.

Holy moly, what a year!

It’s hard to argue against 2017 being one of the best years for gaming since… well, one of the best of all time, really. Its first few months alone saw the likes of Resident Evil 7, Nioh, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier Automata, and Persona 5. Come on!

We’ve got a lot of the same categories below that we’ve featured in previous years — plus a few new ones. You may notice a slight change to this year’s “Most Anticipated” category: since The Last of Us Part II won the Platinum Trophy in that same category following its announcement last year, it’s no longer eligible for a nomination in that category this year. Games that previously won Gold, Silver and Bronze Trophies get another shot at the Plat.

All the polls you see below are open now, and will remain so until we close out 2017 at 11:59pm Pacific on December 31. Get those votes in, and remind your friends to do the same!

    Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice really loved it and I have not even finished it on my own account! I tried it on a friend of mine and could not resist!!! Love Gaming and I love my PS4 PS Vita very much!!! Merry Christmas everybody!!

      Hellblade, was amazing!! So glade it was in so many categories. I’ve played through whole game twice! It’s just a all around great story,great soundtrack etc. Definitely play with either Suroubd sound UP or headset.

      That’s one game you just don’t forget.
      It’s on sale atm I think , You gotta play through to the end.

      Easy platinum also. Loved how it gave history on norse mythology through lore stones etc.

      AMAZING! Didn’t get enough advertisement and and promotion imo .

    Srsly, Prey is only featured in best soundtrack? But yeah, why not feature Injustice 2 with its generic comicbook garbage about a big dude coming to destroy all in the Best Story category.

    Yakuza 0 is my GOTY the story was amazing
    the gameplay was freaking awesome especially when doing heat moves
    soundtrack was fantastic
    characters had depth to them
    Yakuza 0 is a really a masterpiece in my humble opinion .

    I honestly think down for the best stories would be a tie for uncharted and Horizon. Horizons story was very fun to play and it introduced many new elements in to a game I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. From killing corrupted machines to using your focus to scout for hidden audio files. Its a breath taking game and I highly recommend it to fond players of the adventure category.

    I really think Rainbow Six Siege had a really good rum thus year on the side of multiplayer fps, and I hope ubisoft continues to do the same thing next year! Happy 2018 :)

    Had to give my boi 9s best performance. Hard to remember that games I got on my vita this year didn’t come out this year so I gotta choose something else. Wish World of Final fantasy and Salt n Santuary were on this list. Xenon valkerie+ is fun tho. Having too much fun with Doom vfr also. Also surprised Dragonball FighterZ didn’t make anticipated list.

    I would like assassin’s creed origins to win because due to the time ubisoft took to create the new assassin’s creed game show what it could become and set the standards for upcoming assassin’s creed games. I hope it does get at least in the top ‘3’

    Days gone is gonna be the best zombie game on ps4 its gots open world its got hordes of infected aka zombies aka walkers and it looks like the last of us but with more zombies and machine guns this wouldant be complete without vehicles or enemy survivors and its got it

    HZD, all the way. Not only did I love this game, but kids did as well. Highly anticipated DLC did not disappoint, left me wanting more. If someone at Sony ever reads this, they really need to step up their online coop gaming. Should be a standard if you ask me, and solo campaign optional.

    This has been a great year for Playstation games. I only hope in 2018 we see a new handheld system. There is no denying that there is a demand for handheld games. My game of the year is Horizon Zero Dawn.

    HZD GOTY hands down Gurella they went out of their comfort zone and brought us HZD and what result did that bring

    Over 3mil in sales
    Xbox wants a HZD type game
    Nintendo’s ZELDA was constantly being compared to HZD
    Capcom make Aloy a DLC in Monster Hunter World

    HZD is an inspirariom in gaming

    Aloy is a great character and memorable

    The creatures are unique and fun to fight against

    Battle system abd weapons are brilliant and fresh

    Story is interesting and makes want to know more

    The lore is amazing

    Brilliant Game!!!! GOTY and a Hall of Famer!!

      The game sold in digital sales not counting Kickstarter/backer and physical sales made 70+Million!!!

      They definitely need to put F13 on the list.

      It’s possible its not up because its not a complete game.

    It was definitely difficult voting for most anticipated title, but in the end, I had to go for Kingdom Hearts III. GOTY for me is Persona 5, caught me out of nowhere and I enjoyed every second playing it. Most time I’ve ever put in a game and it was worth the experience. Best story too.

    On GOTY,post-release content and PS exclusive there is only one option -> HORIZON!!!…believe on best story and soundtrack too.

    BTW damn I didn’t know Nier was exclusive to PS4…I really didn’t know,I’m shocked lol.

    After the shameful media stupidity I hope Horizon get the awards it deserves here…specially GOTY.This year no game can even come close to Horizon greatness…sorry but even Lost Legacy stays behind.

    I’d like to thank Guerilla games for Horizon Zero Dawn, the constant updates with improvements and active features. Specially for Frozen Wilds!
    I love you guys since the Killzone early days on PS2. You guys grew so much and became some of my favorite developers of them all. I envy your employees for being such competent professionals that don’t stop working until the project is at it’s best it could be. Of all the studios under Playstation, Guerrilla is where I’d want to work on, helping with the art, developing and creating amazing worlds, be those in far away planets in the grittiest war ever on playstation to the resurgance of humanity after it’s apocalypse where machines rule the world.
    Merry Christmas for you and many thanks from a very happy fan!
    Your games and art inspire my own art and projects.

    I didn’t realize you were still adding games to the poll. In that case, could you please consider adding Gravity Rush 2 to best soundtrack? Its soundtrack was one of the year’s highlights, and songs from the game were even featured in SIE Japan Studio’s live concert. There’s really no reason for it not to be available as an option.

    We had some GREAT games this year! Personally, I loved the game ‘ Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice’ I was siked to see it in several of the Categorys. It however IMO did not get the promotion and attention it was well deserved .
    .
    Not saying it was GOTY but it was a great all around game in every aspect.

    As for Best Indi, I’m very surprised ‘Friday the 13th:The game’ was not on the list.

    Rez theme was no doubt awesome. They offer another free theme on EU ps store that Imo tops ours we got on US Store. I thought 10th anniversary :uncharted theme was best though.

    WolfensteinII, I AM SURE is going to be a heavy contender for GOTY.

    Yakuzu was another amazing game.

    It was hard to pick between RE7 & TEW.

    Can’t wait for VR Blood & Truth!! My girl bought me the Skyrim Bundle during black Friday we found it on dell s website for 279.99!!

    She’s played with it more today than me lol.

    Re7 through Vr is like a new game. Doom Vr with the Vr gun gives you a xtra experience.

    Glade I didn’t go with the Gts bundle found out later it has original headset. Definitely wanted the fix with the passthrough.

    Can’t wait for 2018 releases! 2017 we have had a great gaming year

    I’ve played both horizon zero dawn and nier automata but nier automata is a much better game than HZD if you want to compare them by their stories and for the soundtracks again nier is the best game
