Hey PS Plus members, let’s get in the Halloween spirit with this month’s free games lineup for October, 2016.

PlayStation Plus: Free Games for October 2016

First up, we have Resident Evil. What better way to get excited for the holiday and the upcoming Resident Evil VII than by going back to the start of it all? This year Capcom is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the franchise, and this remastered HD version is the perfect way to enjoy the game. So whether you’re reacquainting with old friends Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, or meeting them for the first time, get ready to learn the secrets of the mansion that lies on the outskirts of Raccoon City.

Next up is Transformers: Devastation. Drawing on the talents from the original Transformers TV series for the story and voice work, the game should feel pleasantly familiar to fans. Fabled developer PlatinumGames also delivers a fun and rewarding combat system with their signature fast-paced action. With your choice of five Autobots, get in there and battle against the Decepticons and Insecticons to save earth from Megatron’s evil plans.

    Hey Sony, this is Europe, and although many may think it, Halloween is still an American institution in its ‘celebratory’ form. So don’t give us all that ‘holiday’ crap. Still, that said, a nice line up!

    Dont know why there is some bad Transformers game in OCTOBER when there should be a game like The Evil Within for example , But RE1 is pretty good. Especially since all we have been getting for the past year (or at least feels like a year) is indie garbage with a few diamonds in the ruff. 1/6 is better then the last few months….

    Another disappointing month on PS3… Yakuza 5 was probably the best we are gonna get for a while.

    Seems good to me, heard good things about Transformers, already have REmake but that happens sometimes, seems a lotta people here are butthurt because their specific tastes weren’t catered to. What? You want Sony to call you personally and ask what you wantt?

    I almost bought the resident evil origins collection, which came with resident evil 0&1 hd remastered. Now I can wait till the game is a lot cheaper with resident evil coming out for free this month.

    The PS vita lineup is solid. More good animu games (bcs that is the only reason we own the system) and a really cool looking indie game.

    this month aint bad i bought RE on Xbox and glad Sony made it free this month and really to all those that complain remember your getting free games if you have an issue with the games go and buy the ones you want other wise just take it with the thought that your getting something if you dont like the games on the list dont download them there is no point in complaining about it ya know.

      what you talking about? they are not free, we solely pay for the online service, and these games arnt “free” we are paying… I’m surprised you don’t know this by now, having an xbox u shud knw that they provide better free games, and some only have ps4 and no xbox, maybe that’s why you don’t feel our pain

    Real classics this month, a true gamer can’t really complain about this lineup. Nothing too fancy but it is a decent lineup. nicely done sony, hoping to see more AAA out there.

    These are solid games for free. To those complaining that they already have one or the other….I get that it is sad for you personally but, blaming Sony is unfair. Sorry they didn’t personally check all PS users to see which games are owned the least, where they would then promptly give us all some terrible indie game owned by one person. Thanks Sony for the solid 2 months in a row. Sorry there are so many people that can’t appreciate anything that isn’t AAA, CoD, or Uncharted.

    I was hoping for The Evil Within, but Resident Evil will do just as well. I was thinking of upgrading my PS3 version to PS4 but I’m glad I didn’t.

    I can’t believe this many people are salty about monthly games. I see a lot of people talking about how the free games suck.

    For me they have been amazing. I’m not a big indie gamer because they are a hit or miss and I don’t like paying for hit or misses. So the free games allow me access to these free of charge.

    Journey? AMAZING seriously loved that game and I had never played or heard of it. Tricky Towers? Don’t care it was dope.

    Remember Limbo? another freebie that was amazing. Magicka 2, super fun if you have friends to play with. Rocket League, one of the greatest games ever.

    Usually each month at least one of the games is fun. Now resident evil? Hell yeah, don’t own that one. Lets go.

    Cheap games as always. I remember when you didn’t need PS plus to play online on PS 3 so to buy this extra feature, Sony always made sure to give away proper monthly games with PS plus.

    Dear Sony! I have a feeling that you started to rip off the players with this membership! Would really like to see that you guys give away some good games even it is from 2014-2015!

    They’re not free. They’re a part of the paid PS Plus subscription.

    I’d rather you keep the (rental) games and let me pay for just the online service part of Plus.
    I’m a lot better at choosing which games I want, thank you very much.

    Well 2 things.
    1) ty for the re, my sister would love it, she is a really fan of resident evil. I hope a good compile heart/ atlus for free in a future :P

    2) For the crybabys, why you are complaining about this month again? last month there wasnt someting that i loved and was like… nothing interesting for me… oh well lets check another thing and wait for next month. But you are complaining for something that is free, stop with your stupid delusions.

    Some guys buy the plus for the offerts (i saved more than 1000usd), others for online, i doubt someone ll buy plus only waiting for a small group to games to apear in that plus year. If you are complaying with the plus, then why are you keeping the service, are you a masochist?

    Is similar to childs that play mmorpg (oh an event with extra exp? fk u i wanted extra gold… oh an event with extra gold? fk u i wanted a full mega ultra set with the max stats and max lvl).

    For guys that already have Re and transformers you have a total of 12 months wait for next and if not unsuscribe instead cry wiht your nonsenses, the world isnt an utopy soo get up and keep moving instead cry.

    I know alot of people have high speed cable internet, but I just moved and have limited data satellite… Seeing Resident Evil HD is nice but… can’t download it the size is way too big :/ SAD. That means I get no game to play this month. Was expecting a 5-6gb or game in my situation… sigh

    Don’t get me wrong. I’m thankful for the free games and all and the price for PS plus is worth it but can we get good games at least. Transformers is garbage and resident evil was awesome when it first came out. Who really cares if it’s rematered. The games we have been getting are not really worth occupying space in the hard drive. Rebel Galaxy was good and reminded me of playing classics like freelancer and privateer on PC when I was a kid. Every month there. Is a rumor of Watchdogs. Give us that already instead if these games that get deleted immediately after playing the first few minutes of the game. Anyways thx for all the discounts and other goodies that being a subscriber provides but put more effort into the free games please.

    My only disappointment is that for two months in a row PS+ has had visual novels for their vita games… And I already bought them before T____T Oh well. It was bound to happen since the vita’s library is kinda small. Hopefully next month it’s something I don’t already own xD

    Resident evil is a great freebie, transformers is great for children or men around 40.
    Non the less two good ps4 freebies this month.

    2 absolutely gash ps3 titles but can’t whinge as we have had a good run on tasty games free on ps3 for a while now.

    Will I actually PLAY any of them well I dunno… Fallout has new dlc, ps4 skyrim is coming… I still play oblivion!!

    Wow, I did not realize how ungrateful some people were about the ps plus free games. I more than make my money back every year so far, and I would never expect Sony to waste their time an money putting Grade A titles for free, that just doesn’t make sense, and people who expect that are fooling themselves. Be thankful when there is a game that looks fun, its free.

    guys guys guys….. come on, you guys are saying we are whining even when they give us “good games”, they are not up to the standards… increase the price to $90 if they want, but we want good quality games, yea resident evil is good, but not god enough, xbox users are getting 5-6 games a month, given that they own an xbox one and is backward compatible, wheares ps4 gives 2 and 1 of them will always be **** while the other is slightly better.
    Xbox games with gold gave away games like halo, bioshock, assas creed black flag, darksider 2, child of light…
    some are indie games that are popular as well, not some ****** $2 game off the block, think guys think, stop taking ps4 side.

    Wow! Awesome PS4 selection this month! I was interested in the Transformers game but didn’t get it at release because I had to lower my game budget, so I’m really happy it’s on the list. Never got into RE because of the original control scheme, so I’ll give this one a shot.

    Excited to see games like this on the PS Plus free games, especially after the increased subscription fee. This is exactly the kind of thing I was asking for. Hope to see more like this from now on!
