Hey PS Plus members, let’s get in the Halloween spirit with this month’s free games lineup for October, 2016.

PlayStation Plus: Free Games for October 2016

First up, we have Resident Evil. What better way to get excited for the holiday and the upcoming Resident Evil VII than by going back to the start of it all? This year Capcom is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the franchise, and this remastered HD version is the perfect way to enjoy the game. So whether you’re reacquainting with old friends Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, or meeting them for the first time, get ready to learn the secrets of the mansion that lies on the outskirts of Raccoon City.

Next up is Transformers: Devastation. Drawing on the talents from the original Transformers TV series for the story and voice work, the game should feel pleasantly familiar to fans. Fabled developer PlatinumGames also delivers a fun and rewarding combat system with their signature fast-paced action. With your choice of five Autobots, get in there and battle against the Decepticons and Insecticons to save earth from Megatron’s evil plans.

    I like dating sims as much as the next guy, but giving us two otome games in two months is a little…suspicious. Not that I mind more visual novels in my collection. Super Danganronpa would have been a better choice, though, especially as a cross-promotion with the anime that are currently airing. Or a dating sim designed for guys, maybe? I’m honestly more confused than upset by this otome game thing. Are there more women who have Vitas than men or what??

    Holy crap I’m in SHOCK! Two good games for PS4? No crappy indie game with NES graphics? No artsy side-scrolling platformer?

    Why do people cry when they don’t get Uncharted 4 and stuff? Honestly, aside from the RE promotion for Halloween, this is what PS Plus should be about: Getting good quality games that maybe did not do so well in sales, and give them a second chance (I know, I’m guilty of picking up the Arc System Works fighting games when they came out). Much better choice giving Transformers out than Skyrim (which everybody and their mother owns, including me) and Fallout 4 (who cares, also sold to everyone who wants it) which were in the rumors. We knew we were getting something good this month: A good choice was made in the end.

    Some months are good and some months are bad. If you recoup your $59.99 at the end of the cycle, you’ve got your money back.

    Also, thumbs up for continuing to support indie developers. They need it more than the big companies do.

    As a Via iwner, I’m rather bothered that we has a viual novel taking up a free game spot last month, only to have two more visual novels of sorts for this month. I’m not hating on the genre, but where is the variety?

      I’ve always wanted to try out VNs so I was glad that AM showed up last month. The ones for October, I almost bought a couple of months ago but didn’t. So I’m thankful that there are Vita games that I’m actually going to play. I doubt any VNs show up next month.

    The games are not free guys. If you think about it, they even raised the price to use these games to $60. Go ahead and let your plus expire and see how free these games actually are. SMH just saying.

      Here’s another smartypants who has to argue about the semantics of the term “PS+ free games”. Look, we all know that Sony has raised the price of PS+ subscription to $60. What you fail to understand is that maintaining stable servers cost money. Nintendo has real free online service for Wii U, but EVERYONE considers it as a joke. PS3 has free online, but it did not compare to XBL in terms of service quality and extra features. Consider PS+ games as extra benefit from paying $60 to use and maintain more stable and feature laden online service from Sony. Not everyone is as dumb as you think, and you are definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. /my 2 cents

      I forgot to add that if you have to worry yourself about $10 raise in PS+ subscription fee, please take up another less expensive hobby such as reading or playing board or card games.

      Great renting service.

      5.8 bucks a month i get access to all the months I was a member of PS+,cloud save (saved my butt especially as a Vita user on games that wiped my save, abusing to make the game easier), PS+ discounts….it helps sometimes, 6 games a month.

      Every month, I have at least 2-3 games I am interested in. In the end it pays for itself. You don’t really own your digital purchases….no big deal. As long as I played a full play through of the games I am interested in…the service is worth it.

      A huge wall of text appears that reminds us that the game is only free and ours for as long as we have ps plus.

      On EVERY game we add to cart to checkout or library.

    Excited to try out resident evil. Transformers seems like a weird “halloween” theme, but I’m sure there’s gonna be a ton of sales too like the last of us for 10 bucks. Anybody who hasn’t played that game needs to take that deal!

    Love the line-up though I already have REmake, by far my favorite resident evil game. I beat invisible enemy mode using only the knife. I thought the platinum was fairly easy though. Maybe it’s because I had it on my gamecube. Will check out the other games for sure. Consider this a nice win dudes and dudettes at Sony. Keep it up! And people whining about price might want to get jobs or better jobs, it’s not like the price increase was all that much. If 7-10 bucks is that big of a deal, then maybe you should take a good look at your life. Not looking to start anything, it just gets tiresome seeing the same group whining constantly about anything and everything.

    Only a week or two ago I bought the resident evil bundle for PS3 but I’ll download the remaster for PS4. Transformers looks a bit gash from what I saw in the video so I’ll probably pass.. Never heard of the PS3 games so guess I’m off to youtube to look do some research. To all you folks crying “I already bought this game” or “this game is ****” stop being so self-entitled. Maybe your parents should take your consoles from you and teach you some respect and manners.

    Really this is what they give us a rehash of an ancient game and a transformers game that looks straight out of a fifth graders art book come on they could at least start giving cross platform like xbox would love to play the old ps3 games on my ps4 well though makes sense now that they are making ps plus mandatory for online play there isn’t really a good reason to give good games like they used to seriously used to get games like Bioshock and Sleeping Dogs now we get Tranformers cant wait for next month probably Parasite Eve and Gobots

    For those who want to complain about which games are free here is a solution.
    Step 1: get a job with Sony in the department that selects which games are free.
    Step 2. Figure out how to negotiate the AAA games that you personally want, without bankrupting the company. If a game company doesn’t want their game to be a freebie thus ruining sales of said game, just offfer them more money because you can’t have people complain on the official blog!!!
    Step 3. Deal with your shattered soul because of the unavoidable and inevitable complaining that cheapskates will do no matter what.

    damn, i lose again, i bought res evil hd when it was released, i rented transformers and didnt like it, thought i would since it looks like tge cartoon i watched as a kid, but no, boring..m i honestly havent heard of any of the others.. i had high hopes for this month, what with tge price iincreas and all..m this is like month 5 where i already own the good freebies… i still think i should get some sort of voucher at this point.. i mean 5 months in a row at least..great for everyone else, but its like im being punished for actually buying games… my ps plus yearly renewal comes up mid november… not really feeling its worth while anymore.. i dont play online much, and thr freebies were my original reason for signing up back in 2006.. i always trt to be pisitive, but this sux, for me anyway, ten years … u woukd think 10 years, going on 11, woukd entitle me to at least my subscription price staying the same as it was.. its not a lot of money, its the principle.. i woukd switch to xbox if i didnt hate them so much

    Ok first good month. I already have the RE collection but good game. Transformers I will defiantly try. Second RE defined the survival horror genre so for those who is saying its the worst you are dead wrong. Third to those who played the original RE and are looking to relive your childhood you won’t. If it is the ps4 one that confess inn the collection then it is actually the REmake send there are several changes from the original to that one. Such as more keys different areas that were not in the original and I different type of zombie with a whole new mechanic to it.

    Luckily for me, I’ve been working on my huge backlog for the last year. So I don’t own any of these games. But wow…I came close to picking up those Vita games a couple of months ago. Thankfully I didn’t pull the trigger. Nice job Sony (although I doubt that I will play those PS3 games-those were kinda lame).

    Transformers looks fun. not a big horror game guy even though I’ve played resident evil i wouldn’t want to play it again. As for the other system game entries..won’t be getting any of those.

    I’m probably in the minority that is excited about the Vita game Code:Realize. It’s an Otome game through and through, so I feel that 99% of followers of PS+ couldn’t care less about it, but it’s nice to get a very Japanese game thrown into the mix like this, and since it’s Otome and features a female protagonist with male love interests it’s a nice change of pace from the usual eroge games one plays. Resident Evil is interesting, if not a slight let down. I just bought the Humble Bundle that included REmake and RE:0 HD. Actual Sunlight looks VERY interesting. From Dust was fun when I played it a couple of years back. Transformers seems interesting. It’s one of those games that I’ve always been on the fence about when I’ve seen it on sale.
