PlayStation E3 2016 Recap

We have just concluded the PlayStation E3 Press Conference for 2016 and if ever there was a year dedicated to thrilling entertainment experiences, this is it. This year we unveiled a stellar lineup of extraordinary games for both PS4 and the upcoming PlayStation VR. We showed incredible new games including Days Gone from the SIE Bend Studio, the new Spider-Man from Insomniac Games, God of War from SIE Santa Monica Studio, Death Stranding from Kojima Productions, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard from Capcom.

Other featured titles from SIE Worldwide Studios included the highly anticipated titles Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, and The Last Guardian, which I’m delighted to confirm will launch on PS4 October 25, 2016.

We also confirmed that PlayStation VR will launch on October 13, 2016 in North America. And what is a new platform without content? In the press conference we unveiled unique PS VR experiences, including Farpoint from Impulse Gear, Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission from Electronic Arts, and Batman: Arkham VR from RockSteady and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.

Perhaps I should also address the bandicoot in the room. My t-shirt choice for the keynote at PlayStation Experience in December caused a bit of a stir. So you can imagine how thrilled I am that we worked with Activision to bring one of PlayStation’s most celebrated characters, Crash Bandicoot, to PS4. The Crash Bandicoot Remaster will contain Crash 1, Crash 2, and Warped, fully remastered for PS4. Speaking of our partners at Activision, PlayStation continues to be the home to one of the world’s biggest franchises with the upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Believe it or not, I’m only scratching the surface on E3 this year — you’ll find more details below, and we’ll be adding updates throughout the week.

Before I sign off, I want to thank you for your support. When we launched PS4 in 2013, we made a promise to put gamers first and I am so proud that we have continued to build on that promise and bring you entertainment experiences only PS4 can deliver. Let us know what you think about the show this year and thank you so much for continuing this journey with us.

Disc Jam
Disc Jam
High Horse Entertainment
Hey everyone! Jay and Tim here from High Horse Entertainment. We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that our debut title Disc Jam is coming to the PS4! If you miss the intense, competitive action of the old coin-op classics, Disc Jam is here to scratch that itch! For those of you unfamiliar with the project, Disc Jam is a multiplayer arcade sports title that pits 2-4 players against each other in a unique combination of air hockey and tennis. Players scramble to retrieve and throw a glowing disc while unleashing devastating abilities and defending variable-point end zones. We’ve spent the last 10 years developing the online components for Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Tony Hawk. With Disc Jam, we’ve leveraged that experience to deliver fluid and fast-paced gameplay, even when your opponents are thousands of miles away.

Santa Monica Studio
Everything, everywhere changes.Change is an essential part of life. In creative development change is often the explosive spark that transforms good enough into truly memorable. Several years ago we at Santa Monica Studio began the journey of creating a new God of War. All of us recognized a special honor and responsibility to create a different and better and truly more memorable experience than before. I realized early on that we had to make changes in every aspect of the game. Read the full PlayStation.Blog post here.

Insomniac Games
Today at PlayStation’s Press Conference, we revealed our new Spider-Man game coming exclusively to PS4. (Surprise!) …. From a personal and professional standpoint, this is a dream come true. I’ve been an avid Marvel fan all my life. When I first learned Insomniac was approached by our long-time friends and collaborators at Sony Interactive Entertainment with the opportunity to create a blockbuster Spider-Man console game experience, I practically ran into Ted’s office professing my passion for Spider-Man — along with a desire to serve as creative director. Fortunately, there are many more longtime fans and professional admirers of Marvel at Insomniac. From comics to films and TV, Marvel has a stellar reputation for unique characters and storytelling filled with personality and humor. Those are tenets we value deeply in our own craft. Bend Studio
It’s been a little over four years since we released Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita and you may be wondering what Bend Studio’s been up to. Well, it’s finally time to share what we’ve been working on. Today during the PlayStation E3 2016 Press Conference we debuted our brand new original franchise, Days Gone. The PlayStation team, as well as the press conference production crew at the Shrine Auditorium, gave us the perfect venue to showcase some of the hard work we’ve been putting into the game’s characters, story, open-world environments, Drifter bike and dangerous encounters. The team is very excited about the reactions we’ve seen so far and we’re looking forward to a very busy E3. Read the full PlayStation.Blog post here.

Detroit: Become Human
Quantic Dream
Inspired by our short called “Kara” back in 2012, Detroit is a neo-noir thriller set in the near-future city of Detroit. Androids, who look exactly like human beings, have replaced humans in most tasks: they are workers, babysitters, gardeners, nurses, teachers, clerks. The story of Detroit starts with an unexplained incident that begins to affect the Androids. Some disappear without any explanation, others have unexpected behaviors and strangely show signs of emotions. The rumors of “deviant” androids start spreading, but no one seems to know what’s really happening… Read the full PlayStation.Blog post here.

Batman Arkham VR
Rocksteady Studios
The switch from screens to headsets was a fascinating creative and technical challenge for us, as it has inspired us to really focus on Batman’s detective skills and find new ways to use them. We all feel that we’ve ended up creating an amazing new Batman experience that is both complementary and a counterpoint to the epic grandeur of Batman: Arkham Knight. This time around we’re telling a highly focused, very personal story entirely in first-person. Batman: Arkham VR is an intense murder mystery in the style of the classic Batman comic books, but with a strong dose of the dark psychology that the Arkham games are well known for. Capcom announced Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the next major entry in the famed Resident Evil series, today during PlayStation’s big E3 2016 press conference in Los Angeles. While Resident Evil 7 draws from the series’ roots of atmospheric survival horror, it also delivers a whole new level of terror. In the classic Resident Evil games of yesteryear, players braced for fear in the first-person via the creepy door-opening scenes, and Resident Evil 7 ramps up that tension with an immersive first-person view and a photorealistic graphical style. team ok LLC
Winner of the BAFTA Ones To Watch Award in 2015, Chambara elegantly reinvents hide and seek in a high-contrast world. Players hide in plain sight by camouflaging against like-colored areas to ambush each other in thrilling and stylish duels. Chambara invokes the glory days of couch multiplayer because we believe there is tremendous value in the interpersonal connections that can be forged through that kind of play. We’ve seen those connections forged at the many events we have exhibited Chambara at across the country. We are thrilled to announce that USC Games Publishing and team ok will be bringing Chambara to PS4 on July 26, 2016.

AlienTrap Games
An ancient floatilla of derelict hulks drifts through space, ripe with valuable alien technologies just waiting to be salvaged. Even though the alien inhabitants are long dead, cybernetic security systems lie in wait to shred any intruders. Empowered by a contract of privateering, and a surly mech-suit bristling with ordnance, you must plan your boarding action, load munitions, and blast your way through the alien wreck to destroy the Security Core and get paid! Cryptark is a plasma-scorched 2D sci-fi shooter, and all of us at AlienTrap Games are excited to be showing it off at E3 this year. We’re certain that Cryptark’s aggressive firefights will get some smiles on the showfloor, but there’s more depth beyond just the flying shrapnel. As a scrappy mech privateer, everything you do is financially orientated. All those shells and rockets cost money! Achieve the obscure objectives set by your shadowy employers, and increase your rewards. Just don’t get fragged, or you’ll be left holding the bill. Go into the red, and your tenuous government contract will be terminated! Cryptark will be bringing its unique blend of action combat and “space-pirate business management” to PS4 this fall.
— Jesse McGibney // Creative Director, AlienTrap Games

Dear Esther
The Chinese Room
Back in 2012 Dear Esther pushed forward the boundaries of game design and broke the mold in storytelling — not bad for a project that began as a Half-Life 2 mod. We at Curve are bringing it to PS4 this summer with added Director’s Commentary mode, redefined controls for modern consoles and Trophies to unlock throughout the game. For the first time, PS4 owners will be able to explore the mystery of this remote Scottish island. There’s a lot of questions to be answered: What is the significance of the aerial? What happened on the motorway? Is the island real or imagined? Who is Esther and why has she chosen to summon you here?
— Jonny Merritt // Producer, Curve Digital

Drawful 2
Jackbox Games
The game of terrible drawings and hilariously wrong answers returns. Three to eight players use their phone or tablet as a controller to draw weird things like a “pitcher of nachos” or “death by trombone.” Then everyone — even potentially an audience of thousands — tries to guess the real answer. Drawful 2 includes new features like the ability to add your own user-generated prompts to make even crazier custom games with your friends, as well as expanded tools for streaming including censoring players. Drawful 2 is a go-to party game that everyone can play and enjoy, from the team behind Fibbage, Quiplash and You Don’t Know Jack. We are happy to announce the release date is coming up on June 21!

Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island embraces a colorful, vibrant world of 3D platforming. M2H & Blackmill Games
Anxious for a WW1 shooter? Verdun, the first WW1 FPS game is coming to PS4 on August 30. Over the past year we had lots of requests for a console version from the Verdun community, so we started fine-tuning the game with Abstraction Games for the console version. We distracted the community with several free expansions on the PC, ones that of course were in favor to expand the WW1 realism and Western front for all of you. We hope this surprise is not only exciting for the Verdun community, but also for all you curious PlayStation players! For those that haven’t heard about the game yet, Verdun is a multiplayer first-person shooter set in a realistic World War 1 setting. The game takes place on the western front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. The developers were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun France in 1916. The game offers four distinct game-modes: Frontlines, Attrition, Rifle Deathmatch and Squad Defense.

  • I enjoyed it

  • Thanks for a wonderful show even though we didn’t get to see Norman Reedus’ dong. I want to ask is crash 1-3 a simple uprez or something “built from the ground up” akin to the recent, excellent Rachel and clank game. Thank you.

    • I mean rachet and clank

    • “Rachet and Clank” is a weird way to describe Reedus’ dong.

    • Devilking-Nikkai

      You won!

Oh and BTW, im glad that they didn’t show TLOU 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue 3 along with next Sucker Punch Game.
Why ? Because we NEED BIG GAMES for PlayStation Experience 2016! Last year was very underwhelming to say the least. I hope and im sure they’re gonna blow everyone this year after i watched this year Sony E3. They finally know how to make a real presentation, LESS talk, straight to the point and lot of games show. Just pure awesomeness.
Sony won E3 2016 hand down.

  • With only 3 PS Vita games out of the 27 on this list Sony has finished convincing me what a terrible investment would their PS VR be, since it will likely get the same treatment as the PS Vita if it fails to meet Sony’s expectations.

Overall a very disappointing E3 again this year.

    • Most of Sony’s first party games are trash anyway. Just be happy that there’s tons of third party support coming from Japan.

    • I agree, most of incoming Ps vita games are obscure niche games. I want games like GTA, infamous, NBA answer PS2 classics on Vitae, not what’s currently coming out.

    • Sorry phone auto corrected, but the meaning is still the same.

    • Vita is meant for fighting games and JRPG. It was never meant for anything else, SONY just didnt want us to know is my only complaint.

    • I second this. After the way Sony’s absolute lack of support towards the Vita, what would stop them from abandoning the PS VR a couple of years later? The way Sony has treated their products, particularly PS Vita and PSTV, makes me wonder if I’ll ever invest in their consoles anymore. Sony simply has lost their credibility in supporting their products. And do not think the PS VR will be any different. It will come and go, and will be forgotten about in no time.

    • Considering it’s a peripheral that costs as much as the ps4 when it launched I think you are correct. IF I get it at all, it will be at least a year after launch. I want to make that it get proper support before investing in it, as well as let that ridiculous price go down some. If I wanted to drop large amounts of money into gaming to stay current I’d still be on PC.

    • I don’t know why you’re so focused on the games. VR is a huge step in video game tech! You should be happy something like this is bevoming so open to the public :D even if the games are bad it opens a doorway to greater things AND improvement further down the road.

    • Couldnt agree more. While I never bought a Vita, $ony will have no problem putting it to their customers one way or another, sooner or later. Worst E-3 in recent memory if not ever and I like VR.

Things that could easily go bad with Sony VR as far as the customer goes:
-They stop support and let it die(like Vita)
-it runs terribly on PS4 Original and pretty much requires PS4.5
-They try to force a ton or add-ons/peripherals on us
-it doesn’t work with PS5(should there be a PS5) or when PSNow Becomes Sony’s new console, they try to sell you a new VR
-Even with PS4.5, PSVR tops out very fast and falls behind the curve like PS4 did on release(PS4 was already way behind on release)
-PSVR MOST LIKELY will ONLY work on PS4 and not on PC

Finally, those DUMB enough to Buy a .5 console would be better off buying an XBox Scorpio which will allow a Better VR experience with Oculus and quite possibly Vive and Razor’s VR headset being compatible(only speculation, but Ill bet green money they all work on XBox scorpio)

  • Dear Playstation,

congratulations on the great E3 Conference. Looking forward to incoming new IPs and also new games as well!

  • Shawn, thank YOU! Absolutely outstanding show this year! I didn’t know if you’d be able to top last year, but somehow you did :-). From the caliber of games on display, to the conference pacing, to the brilliant decision to have a live orchestra as accompaniment. Just brilliant all around. Thank you for reminding us once again why we love games so much :-D

  • Too many ****** movies trying to disguise themselves as games

  • When will the E3 stuff hit the store?? It’s midnight MST.
I think “later tonight” was pushing it.

  • Hob dev diary link is missing.

    • Thanks – working on getting a few odds and end settled here ASAP. And keep checking back — we’ll have a ton of updates rolling in through the week. Enjoy E3!

  • Terrific lineup of future games but disappointed that the demo of RE7 is restricted to Plus members. Your E3 presentation just said “play the demo tonight.”
Guess you should have added, “some of you.”

    • Is Death Stranded exclusive to PS4? I know it’s a long ways away, but at the beginning of the trailer it said “Sony Interactice Entertainment presents”, and to my knowledge that only pops up when Sony is publishing games just on PlayStation.

    • Oh whoops didn’t mean to say that as a reply!

    • The screen at E3 did NOT say “for Plus members”, for the Demo. It was something like “Play the demo tonight”.

  • Sorry, meant to post this as an actual post. Is Death Stranded exclusive to PS4? I know it’s a long ways away, but at the beginning of the trailer it said “Sony Interactice Entertainment presents”, and to my knowledge that only pops up when Sony is publishing games just on PlayStation.

  • So…when are you gonna fix all the bugs and glitches the PS Vita is plagued with again? Like the broken Store, or the awful Download List? Or even the ability to let us use our purchased avatars?

I have to ask this because I didn’t think going an entire conference without mention of the word “Vita” (or really, any lengthy announcements at all – I don’t like going from game-to-game) was even possible.

  • That Resident Evil 7 demo though…. still not on the store.

  • Great E3 show! Definitely liked that you guys had a live orchestra playing the music of every game! That was unique! So excited for The Last Guardian to be coming out on October 25th 2016! Definitely glad your making a collector’s edition of The Last Guardian! Definitely pre ordering the collector’s edition! Thank you for not giving up on The Last Guardian! I’m a big fan of Fumito Ueda’s masterpiece video games! And definitely cannot wait to play his next masterpiece game soon! Well done Sony!

  • Entire playstation troupe is going to be killed for not fully playing Ave Satani.

  • That The Last Guardian Trailer Was Beautiful, Cannot Wait To Play That Fantastic Game!

  • Best Sony E3 i’ve ever seen. I was literally calculating how much money I will be spending over the next 6 months. There has never been a better time to be a Playstation owner.

  • Devilking-Nikkai

Off-topic, is God of War a sequel or a reboot ???

Please be a sequel, this give the God of War 3 ending much more sense and creating more possibilities. When he opened the Pandora, all the chaos and devil came out and turn the world into a new one, and with the fall of Olympic, new Gods arise, a new fantasy begun like we saw hours ago. As for plots, the main character can both be Kratos and non-Kratos.

    1. Kratos survived and be a dad again like we saw in the trailer.
or 2: The main character we played are actually not Kratos, but a new Hero with Kratos spirit and powers in it.
or 3: The main character has nothing to do with Kratos, and Kratos is actually trapped in some holy place and will be revealed as the FINAL BOSS!
OR a new companion of him, whatever you prefer :).
Or 4: whatever you want it to be. As long as the previous world of Kratos is canon with this new God of War.

These plots sound much better than the whole Reboot. Please not dumping down all 10 years of lore, hardworks and legacy to the river… please make it canon.

    • GOW is a sequel! the story takes place 30 years I think after GOW3.

It’s a reboot in gameplay and game design and over all tone and story approach and basically everything really, but as a story it takes place after GOW3 so it’s technically a rebooted sequel.

    • I agree please share more details. My only complaint, why did you change his voice!!!!! It does sound like the Kratos ive been playing for the last 10 years.

  • I’m still new to Playstaion VR stuff, but can all their VR games be played on regular PS4 and without the VR glasses?

    • Some games have optional virtual reality support, on some PS4 games and some games are designed just for virtual reality. That’s what I’ve gathered so far, hope it helps :)

  • It is so weird that Persona 5 is not in this list, should be more anticipated than 95% of these games.
    Atlus, what are you doing!?

  • Devilking-Nikkai

God of War of E3 2016 is actually a sequel and canon to the previous world! I just noticed his scar in his ABS!

  • The live orchestra was amazing. Please do that EVERY time!!!

God of War 4, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human, Farpoint VR, Batman VR, FF:XV VR, Spider-Man were all great reveals!

Plus all the other awesome upcoming games that we already know about (Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Last Gaurdian, etc.)

Best part of the whole event was it being 90% games! Very little talking or numbers (which is fine for a different event). Pacing was pretty good too.

  • Iwith all the sidescrolling, 8to 16 bit and overhead indies coming out I’m wondering why PS4.5 is even a real thing. If you look at the catalog in PlayStation store. Theres like 85 percent low graphic indies that a higher definition will just make it loook worse. I mean wtf do i need all the power of the reg ps4 for. I can play on pc with better resolution and indies on smartphones and tablets. Its like when a food processing company wants to stretch their product they add filler and all indies, except a small percetage that dare about making a meaniful gaming experience, are just filler to get u through to the hext big AAA. Hell if you wait they all end up on ps plus free games or Xbox live Games with Gold for free.

    • I agree to a extent but Playstation Neo was first being developed mainly as a Slim Lined Version that solved some heat issues and beefed up the porcessors and adding 4k Syreaming and Gameplay. But since Xbox One was gonna push a uphraded console to enable VR on the Xbox1 plus 4k & HDR so Pkaystaion has known this alot longer than the so to stay on top they jad no choice so that brought then back to the drawing board which beought them having to upgrade the entire Cpu & Gpu to be able to stay the best quality Console this Generation.
Also from inside sources I’ve heard that the new Ps4 Neo will make the PSVRHYPE headset alot cheaper to purchase because the new console will have the PSVRs processor box thats needed for using VR on the (Day One) Core Ps4 & that’ll drop PSVR 2 under $200 from what ive heard

    • An being able to play the New Resident Evil fully in VR, & all tbose PSVR exclusives idk about the average gamer but a avid gamer like myself who is also apart of the development community of mods for PC gaming like Custom Maps for COD:WaW an stuff like that I always gotta grab the new Sony Stuff as soon as possible lol. My Xbox1 is already the 1tb internal and with my 2TB external HD thats 3TB storage, probally why I only have the 3 games thay game with the sysyem thay arent digital Gear Ultimate, Rare Replay & Rise Of Yhe Tomb Raider, tho I got Ori The Blind Forest Definitive Edition 2 but thay was a Download Code so I dnt see myself upgrading the Xbone since I have no intentions on buying or playing VR on it. Plus I dont have a 4k TV or even plan On getting one so uograding to the Xbox1 S for a controller IDC aboit and a smaller system thank prob over hear easier due to the power brick which gets hot now be in internal instead of being able to place it on the floor away from console keep in it cooler in lomg term game sessions

  • It was a brilliant show! Loved the announcements and the orchestra was sooo good. The Crash remakes were my favorite part, although I really wish we had seen gameplay of them…

Now that you and Activision are best friends, can we PLEASE get the ability to play the Crash and Spyro PS1 Classics on the Vita? And then after the Crash trilogy remakes you should remake CTR and the Spyro trilogy from the ground up as well. :D

Oh, and where was Sucker Punch?

    • Yeah right I figured we would get a CGI trailer for there next upcoming big title atleast but guess them releasing The Full Crash Bandacoot Series Remastered was all they were gonna release this conference.
Since Sony began having the #PlaystationExperience a few years back now, they have seemed 2 only release a few big news items at the #E3Conferences. But I cant almost guarantee that come PlaystationExperience 2016 we will see atleast 5 times the amount of releases and alot more gameplay for each. Seems like Sony has finally got a good game reveal to game release ratio since the first few years of these consoles being released they were plagued by many game delays or games being released not finished. Seems like they have finally found there groove (atleast I hope)

  • Love how you guys stepped up the Exclusives and Thank You for staying Partners with The #Watchdogs Team. #WatchDogs was one of my favorite games last year and definitely my moat anticipated game before Silent Hills was canceled. Thank You 4 all the upgrades current and upcoming and listening to us #TheGamers an really stepping things up.
Cant wait to see what else you guys/gals @ SEC Studios have in-store for all us true #FaithfulPlaystationFans @ #ThePlaystationExperience2016. You guys have set the bar in condole gaming so far this year and Personaly I cant wait too see what Else we have in-store for us upvoming with the #Playatation4_ProjectNEO Thank You 4 all the great content and upgrade not to mention the upcomimg upgrades to the entire Playstation Community from games & consoles to the future upgrades coming to the Ps4 operating system and new accessories.

  • Last but actually Most Important IMO is my only fear about the upcoming News is ive heard that VR maybe a little ruff around the edges on the Core Ps4 Console(Standard Edition Not the Neo). Tho I know this is speculations till we get official release info I jist dont wanna have to buy the #PlaystationVRStarterKit and find out alot of the best upcoming new titles end up needing The Neo to get the full #VRExperience. I know nothing is confirmed just my only fear

  • I forgot 2 mention some of the Upcoming new #SEC games like #GodOfWar #DaysGone #DeathStranded made by #Kojima with #NormanReedus, #Detroid. #TheHypeIsExtremelyReal #SonyE3Conference #SonySteppedItUp #SonyExclusives. I know you all @ #Sony are saving the biggest announcements for thebupcoming #PSExperience2016 #PlayStationVR #PlaystatiomVRHype

  • R.I.P microsoft sony killed it lastnight with all the true exclusives on Ps4 Vs the Xbox1/PC exclusives lol

    • Not to be a jerk, I love my PS4. But I have never understood why one console has to “die” for the other to succeed. I have friends who have X-Box Ones and I am happy for them when they get good games. I may get one myself when they get cheaper to play some of their exclusives. I love PlayStation and all, but it in the end it is about the games and I am glad when all gamers can be happy with their system of choice’s lineup. After all, if I could afford them all I would have them all so I could play any game I wanted.

    • That’s how the mature silent majority thinks Darth.

  • Give me a release date for NieR: Automata or give me death

  • from what I see I am only interested in Days Gone & GT

  • Heck of a show and heck of a post! Had to read it in shifts to get through all the cool announcements and games! (Well, I could have, anyway…)

  • Omg, I never thought I’d say this but there is too much to be excited about!! :D Loved the show Sony!!

The Last Guardian has a release date, I can’t wait!!

And Horizon, omg! And God of War OMG!! :D <3 Awesome stuff, excellent reasons to play on PS!!

  • I honestly think VR will fail. It’s just a gimmick that needs to go away.

  • God Of war 4 going be awesome can’t wait. same with Days Gone going to be

  • I never usually comments around here as I’m too lazy to enter my user name and password but I logged in especially to tell you guys that this is an INCREDIBLE line up and E3 and I couldn’t be happier choosing PlayStation, Thank you Sony!

  • Crash Remastered should be on Vita too. Make PS4 backwards compatible, one library one console.

  • Disappointed…. Not a single mention of Neo…

    • Well yeah. Andrew House said almost a week ago that Neo is real but that it won’t be talked about at E3.

  • Great conference! Maybe it’s bc I went to my 1st E3 Experience in the theater, but I loved it. Wasn’t a fan of VR but after that I’ll be picking up a couple for the holidays. Super excited about Crash, Batman VR, Horizon, Days Gone, GOW.

  • Where is The King of Fighters XIV?

  • It makes me so happy to see the “fault” series on this page. Those novels deserve every little bit of attention they can get!

  • After Sony’s absolute lack of support towards the Vita, what would stop them from abandoning the PS VR a couple of years later? The way Sony has treated their products, particularly PS Vita and PSTV, makes me wonder if I’ll ever invest in their consoles anymore. Sony simply has lost their credibility in supporting their products. And do not think the PS VR will be any different. It will come and go, and will be forgotten about in no time.

    • If you worried about ps vr support just wait 1 year to see if the device sold well and supported, done. Ps vita is portable in the smartphone world, it’s fate is to fade away, hell even nintendo 3ds sold less than psp.

  • I’m just glad that this was a conference of surprises. All of the other conferences in the past few days have been confirmations of leaked information from the past couple of months. Thank you Sony. Great Show.

  • OneManArmyAndres

Does anyone now about any upcoming AAA couch co-op game?

    • If going by game budget to classify as AAA, I know games like LEGO Dimensions, Skylanders, LEGO Starwars / Batman / etc all continue to have couch co-op gameplay.

I also know Call of Duty games continue to include split-screen co-op and the last one called Call of Duty Black Ops 3 even had splitscreen co-op through the campaign (rest before it were for the co-op mode or competitive). You could look up if the new one called Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is keeping with that tradition or not.

I am sure there are more, but most games including co-op tend to be top-down or 2d games that don’t have AAA budgets. The best among them for my taste has been Helldivers.

  • resident evil 7 demo? link for download, please!!

  • From Sony conference, I am sold on the following:

Horizon – Zero Dawn : Going to go for the big spend and get the collector at this point. Want that statue

God of War : I have long felt the series should have ended with 3, and couldn’t even find motivation to play the prequel Ascension, but this new one, that is a sequel (I think), unless that is Kratos father and the boy Kratos, does have a story that interested me.

Detroit – Become Human : I love games like Heavy Rain and Until Dawn. Real choice and consequence, all playing out with no game over until end credits. This is much more what I wish the TellTale games episodic pretend choice/consequence games were like.

Spider-Man : I was hoping the rumored game would be from Sucker Punch, but Insomniac is also a good developer. I wouldn’t be interested in the game except if it is from one of these developers. I also like its not tied to the movie, so it will be a game first, and release when its ready, rather than try to be a movie tie-in release.

As for PS-VR? More open to it now than I was before the show. Games of interest

If Farpoint gets good reviews, and if I get PSVR, I will get this game and the controller it will hopefully / likely come with.

  • I look forward to the rest of the week. It is always exciting to see what is coming. I didn’t see anything I wanted in the presentation. But that Orchestra was amazing.

  • What an incredible keynote! There were so many incredible games on display, and it’s crazy to think that there are so many more that weren’t shown! PS4 really is the best place to play!

  • Well, all the “coming” PsVita games are ports from Steam, shame on you Sony, shame on you. I just hope that they do not want to sell at the price of “new” IP

    Prices in steam
    Fault ($15) 2013
    Pox Nora (Free) 2014
    Rabi-Rabi ($18) 2016

  • Now that I have had time to recollect and savor what just happened last night. These are my complaints:

    * no new console
    * no explicit statements about “playstation exclusives”
    * weird mysterious music by bsg musician
    * most useless, possibly pointless game mascot revived
    * no new wipeout hd
    * no motorstorm (look at forza horizon 3, sony. look at what you threw away)
    * i swear at one point andrew house walked in and announced that microsoft will be releasing scorpio

    • Congrats on great conference sony, I want all your first party game, especially gow, horizon and gravity rush 2.

  • One more, one more: Did not cohesively re-iterate goals of presentation after presentation.

    • Dude give it up, sony won e3, after this there’s no sane person that want that pos system scorpio that have 0 (zero, nada, zilch) exclusive.

  • This had the be the greatest E3 presentation I’ve ever seen. So many games….
