PlayStation Plus: Free Games for May 2016

First up is the island dictator sim Tropico 5, featuring the long-running virtual dictator, El Presidente! Tropico 5 is a full-fledged city-building game based on the fictional island nation of Tropico. Decent lineup. I payed full pop for tropico last year and love the game just need more time to get into it. Also like TTR as it’s nice to see an option for my kids to try at no extra cost.
People need to either put up or shut up. Every month all but about 10 or 15 % are people *****ing. .I’m leaving ps blah blah blah. Go then…how many millions of consoles are out there. Is Sony going to meet everyone’s wishes for FREE games….hell no, just be greatful there are so many options, genres, and age ranges to satisfy. …Jesus Christ many people in this world struggle to find food or drinkable water and all people do is ***** about not getting their prime video game for the month.
I’ve been a ps member for just under a year and yes there have been many months where I haven’t bothered with the freebies but I can tell you for my $50 I’ve more than gotten my value not to mention the huge savings during flash sales etc.
So PS thanks for making gaming fun for me and my family. .I look forward to more great OPTIONS in the future.
My only suggestion is maybe have 5 or 6 choices monthly and top 2 or 3 vote getters get chosen.

I’m not too happy with these games, 2 years ago I used to get so excited every month to see the free games, now they don’t slightly catch my attention anymore, I don’t care about the free games on PS4, I just miss getting good games on the PS3

Remember? Hitman Absolution, Dead Space 3, Bioshock Infinite, etc. Now those were games worthy of Sony’s line up.

Sony is a prestigious company and should conserve it’s quality. I’d love to see Castlevania or Lord of Shadows free on PS3.

Yo Sony, I’ve been a long time fan the back ways since Playstation 1. I knew PS Plus would be rough and even a little starved at the launch of the PS4 free games wise but we are multiple years into this. You even regressed on the PS3 free games. We used to get things like Bioshock Infinite and we even got Demon’s Souls. Now we get hot garbo on both. I have my PS4 and my PS3 and honestly if I didn’t have friends to play with I wouldn’t be paying for Plus right now. I get that they’re “free” games but they could be better. They were technically “free” games during the PS3 era, and yet you gave out much better games. I really don’t mean to offend you guys but give us something better than a niche 2014 title. Just something good. You could even go back to releasing AAA stuff on the PS3 lineup, just anything, please!

Hahaha is this a joke? I seen a rumor that it was gonna be watch dogs and tetris for ps4 and laughed at how stupid that would be but this is so much worse!! You’re not trying anymore I get that now. I won’t pretend that I’m going to cancel my sub because I need online. I’ll just say screw you Playstation/Sony whoever is at fault for this garbage they keep scraping onto our plates.

Sony, let’s have an honest chat: What’s more important to you, your hardcore player base or the casual socials?

I’m asking because looking at the ps+ free games released in recent months it looks like you’re pitching for the casuals attention which is very strange to me because when I moved over from xbox I was expecting it to be the other way around.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a bit of both and while I grind away in DS3 which I bought it’s great to have something to play when my buds come over for beers ( TTR ) AND have something to give to my lady to play ( Tropico5 ), so that part of me applauds this months selection.

However the part of me that wants to jump in and break my teeth on something agrees with the “GIVE AAA REAL GAMES!!!” crowd. People have been asking for KZ:SF on here for a long time now for example and I’m sure throwing it in at this point would soothe a lot of angry spirits.

MGS anything would do as well but I’m sure you’re fully aware of this so my honest question to you is: is it worthwhile to you to appease them or they aren’t important to you now as they once were?

Tropico 5…for free…nothing says awesome like getting one of the most boring “games” out there. When someone says they enjoy this game it lets you know 2 things.

1) they aren’t gamers
2) they have a mental disorder of some kind and mistook this for a game but it makes sense seeing as their second favorite game is watching paint dry.

  Which game on gold this month is decent exactly? Peggle is fun but is a $0.99 phone app. Costume quest is super old. If you think grid 2 and DG 2 are better than you might as well be buying $1 games out of the discount bin at GameStop.

I can’t believe how entitled some of you think you are. You get 24 FREE games a year. FREE. Who cares if some aren’t that good? They’re free! Download it and save it for a rainy day! Buy the games you want, but don’t complain when free games are handed to you, at least as an option for when you’re bored.

Some of these posts have to be jokes right? Unfunny jokes, but jokes nonetheless. To say somebody has a mental disorder because they like a game? Looking at you War0979. That’s fine if you don’t like the games. I haven’t even played any plus games in 3 months. Honestly, I understand people being upset if they pay money and are getting nothing out of it. Some of these posts are a little on the cray side though. At the end of the day, they are just games.

We all love an Indie game every now and then and its good of Sony to give them exposure in this way so that they become more known among the gaming community, but honestly, there needs to be more AAA games to mix things up instead of continuously and repeatedly handing out indie games month after month after month, its getting tiresome, Microsoft’s games for gold offer a much better line up and if this continues, many people may begin to go over to the micorsoft’s side with only maybe friends or console exclusivity holding them back.

reading through all these comments is actually so infuriating. Congratulations, you don’t like the games PS+ if offering this month. Boo hoo. If you have PS+ for the free games-cancel. If you have PS+ for online play-don’t download the free games.

I’ll agree that recently they haven’t been the greatest, but this month I’m looking forward to Tropico 5.

I had been debating whether or not to buy Tropico 5 for the past few months. I enjoy city builders, but rarely spend enough time with them to justify the full price purchase. Yay! Problem solved. Several of the other titles look like I’ll at least try them. Good rebound, after last month, where nothing intrigued me.

Are you guys blind!? This has to be the greatest lineup this year! Have you not seen the new table top racer game!? Frigging Amazing, and Tropico 5 for free???? You guys don’t understand the fandom of this series! Switch Galaxy? Yeah it looks simple but the graphics and the normal price is $20…. I’ve been wanting to play it but didn’t have the money for the likes of it so I’m super happy! Also any God of War game is a great one.

Only problem is the ps3 games but that’s because theyre not my taste but its to be expected with these other top notch games!!!!!! I just love getting these for free!

I want to say that tropico 5 best builder game it is good need some work in multiplayer server always down and new patch for missions and new building also need to disscount the dls levels of it because it is so high ,i already own it in ps4 and it is fun really will enjoy it
So all my friends players really it good this month,yes i am sad because now it is two games only free and before was 4 games because it was cross by and also from the indie games which is boaring not all but to many of it
So i ask for the next month put some sport game and action also but ps2 game one or two games free by that we will have 4 games again
i know many are angry because of past month free games but this month and the coming it is ok but more please from playstation and please take a lot of care about the opinions of us the players and fan please

  @hongthay – Last year they gave us NBA 2K14 for PS3, so I wouldn’t say they won’t give sports games. They have in the past. I don’t know how likely it is in the future, but it’s been done.

If you buy the PS Plus for online gaming the games are an added bonus. I may not play Tropico 5 this month buy I love the fact I can add these to my cart and put them in my library for later play. I think you get out of PSPlus what you want. I remember when you didn’t get free games with subscriptions. Also the Free to play titles that Sony has brought to the PS4 are awesome in their own right. Warframe, War Thunder, Blacklight Retrobution and Planetside 2 just to name a few. So My gaming docket is definitely not lacking at the moment when you include the ones I have paid for.

The funny part is I already own it because I PAY FOR the games I enjoy. God of War will be great too. I have it for the PS3 but it will be nice to have another AAA game for my Vita that’s collecting dust. Bravo Sony.

  It’s just too bad TTR doesn’t have local multiplayer. Kinda reminds me or MarioKart but missing that. Come to think of it, the lack of local MP games really makes getting additional controllers for PS4 almost pointless.

Playstation Minus, yet another horrible lineup. I don’t play online so the year subscription is wasted. I have been a menber of PS- since the begining but i wont be renewing once it expires as Sony and Playstation seem to refuse to listen to anyone, and just throw out crap games each month.

Yea, I’m basically paying $50/year to keep my old games I love alive. Apart from uncharted, I’m not sure why I have a ps4. If we got ps now with ps plus, maybe I’d keep the membership.

All the monthly ps plus games are fun and different.good for a quick half hour- an hour or so when u dont have much time. If you want AAA games stop being so tight and go buy some! U all want something for nothing. We pay for psn for security and a good service, Sony never charged for online on ps3 unlike Microsoft. If u don’t like it go to xbox and play ur gold games and leave us to play the best exclusives in peace!

You gotta think about what you’re saying…
PlayStation have been a huge success, but if they gave away a bunch if massive AAA titles e.g BO II or GTA V, they’d lose profit, eventually go bankrupt and we’ll be wondering what has happened to the community.
if they release other AAA titles, some people would still be complaining about “I already have this game” or “I don’t like that game/franchise.”
I’ve also noticed that people aren’t giving games a chance, I was like that in January (I think) when they had a bunch of indie games, I didn’t think much of them since I’m not one for indie games, but I tried them, out and some were really fun and addictive.
So please take into consideration the fact that they’re trying their hardest to keep people happy. Not just one group, but everybody.
Yeah, they could release one or two AAA titles every now and then, but if they’re all AAA titles, eventually we’ll all get bored of them and want something new… And just take in the fact that they’re being generous enough to actually give us games with no charge. As a gift.

None of these titles interest me this month… BUT WAIT WHAT’S THIS?

Instead of accusing Sony of forsaking its fanbase by not meeting it’s impossible standards and continuously (and untruthfully) threaten to throw my PS4 away , I might just simply… not download them and move on?!?!?! HOW CAN THIS BE?!?!

I remember a time when I had a console and there was awesome stuff and we’d look @ xbox and we’d laugh and laugh. “hahaha you have to subscribe just to play online?” we’d say. “hahaha look at these awesome free stuffs” we’d laugh. My how the tables have turned, forced us to subscribe for next gen and now we have to pay so there is no need to entice us with a decent range of thanks. I do not play online and if this trend continues I will have no need nor want to hand over $$$$ I could spend on games I want to play. When I have not downloaded games for a couple of months at a time I begin to wonder why am I bothering?

I honestly don’t mind the lineup for ps4. It seems like an interesting diversity of games. It can’t be easy to get AAA games all the time and I really prefer to have a variety of game genres that small titles like these seem to provide.

Haven’t played Tropico 5 or Table-Top Racing, so I’m excited to give them both a try. They might not be games I would have bought, but some of my favourite games have been ones I got through Plus that I didn’t think I’d like, but then tried and loved.
